One of those comparison videos for who would win a fight crossed my recommended on YT except it was the Monster Trio from One Piece vs. characters from RWBY and I can't even be mad that the RWBY verse lost every single match-up asdfghk
"Uhhh—!" The girl quickly jumps to her feet, turning back to face the man and waving her hands defensively. "Wait, wait! I didn't mean to! I just sorta... y'know... teleported? I think...?" She trails off, rubbing the back of her head. Was that what she should call what she did? It wasn't her normal super speed - whatever this was had allowed her to go through walls. Or... had she just reappeared in another random area of the building? Why couldn't anything ever be simple?
She drops her hands to her side then in exasperation. "Look— All I know is that one minute I was hunting Grimm, and the next I fell through some weird glowing portal thing and now my semblance isn't working the way it's supposed to and I don't even feel my aura and—" She cuts off her rambling with a sigh, her shoulders slumping. "... I— don't think I'm in Remnant anymore."
And what a predicament she was in. What if Salem made her next move while she was gone? Just like she did whilst Ruby and her friends were lost in the Ever After? That, too, had been another world - but at least things there had stayed relatively the same as in Remnant. Not like... wherever she was now. She was so tired of portals... But she had to find a way back.
She tries to calm herself enough to address the stranger again though. He probably had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. After all, she was just some random girl who had appeared in his workshop out of nowhere.
"Sooo... Where am I, exactly?"
Tony is no stranger to weird happenings around him. Be it a portal opening in his workshop without a warning and a certain wizard stepping out, or just some overconfident and crazy person trying to take over the world again. By now these things were a regular occurance and if anything Tony grew suspicious if things were calm for longer. It rarely meant anything good, if anything it only meant that whatever would come next would hit them hard.
So when Jarvis alerts him of an intruder on the floors where the accounting offices are located he isn't overly concerned at first. Whoever it was, his AI would keep an eye on them and keep Tony updated on things.
When an unfamiliar portal opens in his workshop next however, he's immediately on high alert. Surprise is more than evident on his face as he takes in who just came through it. A kid? She didn't look threatening, but looks could be deceiving. However she did seem to be as surprised as he was.
"Did nobody teach you that it's rude to appear in other peoples workshop unannounced, kid?"
She supposed he wasn't entirely wrong. Pyrrha was on top of her studies - hadn't missed a day of class for as long as she could remember. Missing one day likely wouldn't be too detrimental. However, to her, her studies were just as important as the more physical aspects of her huntsman training. She had worked hard to get to where she was, and she wasn't one to slack off.
"You have... an odd way of wishing someone a happy birthday."
The redhead couldn't help the faintly amused raise of her eyebrow, nor the smile tugging at the corner of her lips. She hadn't been expecting it from him anyway, but for most people she had spoken to today, it had been the first words out of their mouth. It was nice in a way, to not receive one. It made her feel a little more normal.
𝐜𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞, the haven student keeps his gaze trained on the professor, lest the old man notices his disinterest and decides to call on mercury. yet he watches the redhead from the corner of his eye, taking in her momentary hesitation to answer, the way her brows pinch, her sheepish smile . . . the students here are all the same, and that includes miss invincible girl, all too easy to read. they shine with the dream of becoming the world's protectors, and when reality hits, it's gonna hit hard. the assassin can't help the smile that fights its way to pull at his lips every time the thought crosses his mind, knowing he'll have a hand in that moment.
❛❛ hmm ❜❜ he gives a shrug at her response; he'd also thought it idiotic to not do something just because of the day you were born. then again, mercury found the whole idea of giving gifts on birthdays strange as well. maybe emerald was pulling his leg with some of this crap, though he hadn't cared enough when she told him nor did he right now to fact - check such things . . . ❛❛ it would be, though it's not like you need to be here studying. ❜❜
His claws on her shoulder jerk Pyrrha from the nightmare she'd been trapped in. Although the waking world isn't much better given it is likely 2 AM and one of her new teammates is crouched on the corner of her bed like some kind of feral animal. All of the stories of grimmlings being beasts flash through her mind as Ren-who else could it be with that tail and those horns and the glowing eyes and marks?- stares back at her, head cocked.
"You were having a nightmare. I couldn't just let you sleep, sorry."
Nightmares weren't a hugely regular occurrence for Pyrrha, but she had them just like everyone else. This one had been particularly strong, trapping her in its clutches - until her eyes finally fly open with a gasp at the touch of claws upon her shoulder.
She is met by glowing eyes, and she momentarily wonders if she is still within the nightmare. However, she quickly realises that is Ren - her friend and teammate - and not some monster of her imagination, feeling awful for even thinking it. She calms herself, though her eyes remain wide for a moment. It was... still quite a sight to wake up to.
"Umm... —Thank you, Ren. I'm... sorry if I woke you...?"
Okay, I updated my carrd to add An back in! I reworked her story a lil but it shouldn't change anything drastically. I'm putting her as request-only as she'll probably require some plotting for anything pre-Vacuo. :')
Ren is... still kind of in disbelief his mom is alive and well. And in Vacuo! So he can't help but dote on her and just kind of... loom when she doesn't need anything. It'd be creepier if he hadn't also done it as a child honestly.
An was used to her son's behaviour by now. He may be all grown up, but it seemed some of his childhood habits still remained - and it brings an amused smile to her features as she finally speaks up.
"Lie, darling - if you have time to stand there staring, then you have time to help me prepare these care packages."
growing up in vacuo's desert didn't translate well when fox had first came to beacon. he'd never had a schedule before, nor had he been around so many people . . . but there had been a single bright side: due to moving around a lot, learning the schools hadn't been much of a struggle. though he'd heard it took most first years a couple of months, which wasn't surprising considering how large the campus was. perhaps that's why his first instinct when miss niko's shows up is to assume her lost. but if the redhead had gone toward fox, where he strays from the crowds, to get away from people, she's lucky, as the blind man may be one of the only students unaware of the girl's birthday . . .
someone who doesn’t know of the perfect student's birthday !? maybe now she can have a break from constant praise ~
Whilst Pyrrha did appreciate all of the birthday wishes she had received today, she couldn't help but feel like it only solidified as fact that she was placed on such a high pedestal among her peers. She couldn't even make her way between classes without being showered in praise and admiration, and she could only smile and accept it for so long before she began to grow tired.
That was why she had made her way here, for a moment of peace and quiet. The area was virtually empty, save for the familiar figure of one of her upperclassmen, and it dawns on her that she may be interrupting his own solitude. However, she knew that Team CFVY were held in similarly high esteem at Beacon, so perhaps he would understand somewhat?
"Fox! I'm sorry, I hope I didn't disturb you." She offers an apology, even if unnecessary. She pauses momentarily, before rubbing her arm. "Do you mind if I join you?"
grey eyes lazily roll; he hasn't been paying attention to class all week, so of course, the moment he does tune in, he's got no clue whatever it is the professor is going on about. mercury hadn't been keen about this whole becoming a student scheme cinder had posed from the very beginning. his father never cared for things like traditional education, though mercuy wasn't stupid by any means; he'd just never had the pleasure of classroom learning. and rather take this as an opportunity, the young man enjoyed messing around, particularly annoying pyrrha nikos. it wasn't that he hated the girl, but he'd caught her attention when their little spar, so why not enjoy such attention ? ❛❛ i heard it was tradition to skip classes on your special day ❜❜ the sliver - haired man hums, leaning back in his chair. that's what emerald claimed, though neither of them had experience with schooling or birthday celebrations.
happy ( late ) birthday pyrrah !! hope you don’t mind me throwing this annoying man at her ~ this is probably the closest anyone can get to befriending him . . . soooo, just ignore his antics !!
Normally, Pyrrha wouldn't engage in conversation whilst a professor was talking. However... this was Professor Port's class, and the man currently seemed to be in the middle of one of his never-ending stories. Besides, the fact that the Haven student had somehow discovered it was her birthday surprised her - even though, really, it probably shouldn't. It seemed like every aspect of her life was public knowledge at this point.
"I've never 'skipped class'..." She glances to the grey-haired boy, brow furrowing slightly as she notices how he was leaning in his chair. She had to wonder if Mercury had attended a primary combat school - or if he was one of the few who made it into a Huntsman Academy without previous schooling. It would explain his apparent disinterest in his education.
"Today is... just like any other day." She smiles sheepishly. How she wished everyone else would see it that way, and not shower her with even more special treatment. "It would be silly of me to miss out on my studies just because today is the day I was born."
