“I’ve gotta admit; it’s a little surprising how many people still want money and power given it’s the end of the world.”
“people really still want all that now?”

“Why are you at the barrier?” She asked out of curiosity as sat up some more before waiting to see how she felt.
“i come out here a lot. don’t really know why.” she observed the hybrid, making sure she was able to stand.

“Some would say none but I do have some. See this girl.” He put his arm around the blonde. “Her father here was beating her until I came in.”
“well then, i take back my judgement.”

“There is always going to be something I could have done better.” Hayley whispered as she sat up, the wounds finally beginning to seal.
“no, not always.”

“Always one for the dramatics.” He casually looked over at her, finishing up the ice cream. Despite it being such a long time.
“what do you mean? there’s-” she paused, facing him with a slightly calmer expression. “sebastian.”

“Rough day, huh?” He watched as the other whom he helped out took some of his ice cream. The ice cream shop empty and the owner’s dead body on the counter.
“oh my god!” melodie stared at the scene in horror, not even processing anything other than the body lying casually thrown across the counter.

“It really should go that way the first time around but people don’t really know what they have till it is taken, as unoriginal that is.” He wasn’t given much as far as his youth was concerned, work house till he was old enough to go off on his own only to get sick. “Pleasure is mine, even with the coming doom in the distance.”
“no, it’s not unoriginal. you’re right. but i think more people are realizing that now, trying to do something a little more meaningful.” she smiled at the man. “the coming doom puts a bit of a damper on things, yes. but i think we’ll manage to be alright.”

It wasn’t as if his time, gone, hadn’t broken him in some ways. It was more, he was never quite whole or non-broken (at least not without her) so he knew how to hide it very well. How to not let it be known to just anyone, or anyone at all really. And he surely wasn’t about to start now, especially not to her. He knew she’d take the guilt upon herself for his death and being there in the first place, he wasn’t having any of that. “You know the worse something is, the more I like it.” He replied playfully, keeping his eyes on her as she leaned to his touch. “An angel ruling the city? A demon running the streets? You’ve got to be joking.” The male replied shaking his head. “The hell happened to this place, Mel?”
“you always were odd like that.” the hybrid teased him, knowing it was true. she shrugged, sighing slightly as she thought about his words for a moment. “i’m not, no. i don’t know who the angel is, but there is one here. in a human vessel, i believe, so it’s a bit hard to tell. the demon was the same. she was possessing a human girl. i wouldn’t have known what she was if she hadn’t told me. a little unsettling, actually.” melodie shrugged again. “the world ended outside the barrier. and when that happened, no one wanted to hide anymore. every other species is out in the open, why not the ones even we didn’t think were real?”
