for a long time, hyo had used ginny as his topline guide vocals (with permission from her father, of course); she was a great vocalist, and it was good practice for her. but since her debut, first with unity then solo, hyo had to scramble for new talent. and after really having a hard time with who higher was providing him with, he finally outsourced, getting in touch with jei and asking for her guide vocal singer, without really caring who they were-- if jei trusted her, hyo was ready to hire her.

but when the time came to record the guide vocals for trinity’s new song, and seulki from deviant came in, hyo was at a loss for words.

“a short all kill is still an all-kill! you guys should get one of those bowling trophies and get it engraved with something to celebrate it,” hyo laughed.

“Dude, I wish I saw the all-kill actually happen! I had to read about it happening third-hand from my little sister who doesn’t even listen to us. And when I went to go look myself the spot was taken,” Duckie said.  “I almost feel like she’s just pulling my leg or something, it’s so unreal.”

“probably a release form with the production company, yes. but nothing too scary,” jinkyung assured him. “i can’t wait to surprise naeun with this– she’s going to be so shocked!”

“this sounds so fun-- naeun is the oldest, right? i don’t think i’ve met any of your kids except dongeun, and that was just in passing. my sister is producing for his group,” he mused aloud. “send the paperwork over and we’ll get this thing started.”

“me? really?” hyosang answered with a snort. that was a weird concept. she didn’t seem like she was yanking his chain or anything, though. “that sounds like a lot of fun! do i have to sign some sort of contract or something?”

“this is going to sound a little strange, but please hear me out,” jinkyung began, a little smile playing on her lips. “one of my kids has a crush on you. just a little one, very innocent– the crush of a fan. but the producers want to explore it as an angle on the show. would you be alright with us using footage of you? or even coming to meet the child in question for a special episode?” she was careful not to say which of her kids it was– if the answer was no, she didn’t want to embarrass them. “of course nothing will happen beyond that, but we thought it would be cute for one of the kids to meet one of their favorite celebrities. and you’d get publicity from it too.”

“Ah, that’s okay!” She hums gently; “I could use a little hug from a furry friend to be honest.” At the pause, Nemo shifts her weight a bit, stretching the back of her neck, “I’m okay, i just have been zoning out these past few days.. that ontop of a reoccurring headache doesn’t help much.”

“oh-- brick’s good for that! he’s really affectionate. and friendly. he won’t hurt you or anything,” hyo promised, gesturing at his dog in a be my guest sort of way. he nodded. “i can’t help with the headache thing. i’m not a doctor. but i hope you can figure it out-- is there anythin i can do?”

“Okay,” She sighs gently pouting just a little bit, “Mcdonalds can’t be that bad… maybe i’ll eat that instead?” Joohye muses, pulling the straps of her purse a bit tighter, “I want to eat something new but i can’t think of anything.”

“oh, i like mcdonalds. that wasn’t a dig at them,” hyo assured her. “i just think it can get gross if that’s all you eat. and i go for fries at four in the morning at least three times a week,” he explained.

"i was just saying to be careful, because my dog likes jumping up on people. he’s tiny, so it won’t hurt you or anything, and you can just push him off,” hyo explained, before pausing. “are you okay?”

Nemo had seemed to have plenty of free time now a days; but plenty was on her mind. After a rough visit with her parents, she wasn’t sure if being in the music scene at all was a good choice for her anymore. The constant pressure was building up inside of her like a pack of mentos sealed into a coke bottle; she had no idea when she would explode and that scared her.  It made her reclusive and hide away from everything and everyone she was used to; only allowing herself to be buried in what little work she had. Producing music was her dream and here her parents were trying to take it away from her; well, at least partially anyway. She’s so zoned out that she doesn’t notice the other person calling her name, or whatever they ask her until their hand is on her shoulder, “Oh, sorry…What did you say?”

“not to be mean, but that kind of looks like rotting dog food,” hyo answered, nose scrunching up a touch. “i know all i eat is mcdonalds so my stomach is already gross, but even with that, i don’t want to put that in my mouth.”

“All you have to do is just…. try it.” Joohye had seen a bunch of people talking about vegemite and how you either loved or hated it. While the Dancer was way to scared to try it herself, she figured that if she got one of her friends to eat it and they liked it, it’d give her enough courage to actually try and eat it herself. “Just close your eyes and say ‘aH’ it’s gonna take five seconds… I pinky promise.”

“oh, don’t say that-- that’s so much pressure! i’m okay with being a dog dad, but dog role model feels weird.”

“wouldn’t there have to be two other bricks though if he was brichard shin the third?” noah laughed, “lord brichard, first of his name.”

“okay, yeah. i guess. but the third sounds more prestigious. maybe he has brichard cousins we dont know about who were named first.”

“touche. thats a really good point. i mean my dogs are extra good boys but....very good point.”

yuji sighed deeply. “it’s hard to be bitter and make fun of you when you’re so fucking wholesome. knock it off.”

“i can’t help it! i got the wholesome positive good vibe genes. it’s in my nature, noona.”

“i’ll be fine, maybe i can loose a few braincells. maybe earblood would get better,” minseok laughed with his head still only a few inches away from the mixing board in front of them, or at least, he did until he heard hyosang’s joke afterwards and finally sat back up to actually be level to his friend. “c’mon, dude, don’t you think that it’s not fair if giving fish my cut would just go back to you? you can’t be my boss and his financial advisor. it’s conflicting interests, or whatever.” min’s mind started to go back to all the times he had already been overthinking what yein’s engagement ring should look like. “i don’t care if a stylist doesn’t like it, i just want yein to like it.” he felt like he had been going over it in his head over and over again as he tried to find one that was just right that as much as it felt like a relief to talk about it with hyo, it also reminded him that he still didn’t actually have one yet.

min laughed again when hyo mentioned yuji’s girlfriend, “we’re supposed to call her eunji, she heard me call her ‘yuji’s girlfriend’ at yuji’s show last week and last time i saw her she cornered me to make sure i remembered what her name is.” though there was still laughed in his voice, minseok really did take eunji seriously. he thought she was cool, and she definitely seemed to make yuji happy, and if she had gone out of her way to correct him, he figured that he should tell hyo too. they seemed to share a braincell often enough anyway. “yein wouldn’t want a big ring though, i think she hates spending money like that as much as i do. she doesn’t even like wearing big jewelry like that anyway,” min paused, “you’re right. i should just let myself get one made for her.”

“it’s not personal, min, it’s just business. and i’d do anything for my son,” hyo said in reference to fish, not being able to keep a straight face for even a moment. “no, no, i know. you’re right. i’m not saying the stylist needs to like it. i’m just saying if it snags something she’ll get in trouble. not that she seems like she’d like something big enough to snag anyway, but you get what i mean.”

“she’s kind of scary, eunji is. perfect for yuji. love that for them,” hyo said in response, snorting. “as if i of all people don’t know who ho eunji from harmony is. queen? legend? singer of like a cat, miniskirt, heart attack, and other classics? you all underestimate me,” he replied dramatically, though he took note to be more conscious about how he referred to her. he didn’t want to upset anyone. “get one made! get one made! make it bright green and shaped like a dino!”

“yeah, yeah. whatever. i just wish you’d give this much thought to other things,” yuji teased lightly, a resigned smile on her face.

“what am i supposed to think about more than my family?” hyo asked earnestly

“is he a smart cookie, or are you just an exceptional trainer and owner?” andy teased.

“i mean, he’s a good dog. i think both are probably true, but he’s a good, good boy.”

“oh! my mom calls me lulu sometimes. i always thought it was like…. a dog name. but if you say it’s cute, i trust you!” luri replied.

“i mean, it’d be a cute dog name too, but i think it’s a cute human nickname regardless! you could pull it off!”
