My last post was 3 months ago lmao
I'm still doodling KH despite not having anyone to talk to about the series on twitter (I could love something to death but I will be less active and change phase if I find it lonely I'm ngl) but I still can't push myself to finish anything. I got too many WIP files man (and ideas I haven't started).
The wait for KH4 is already painful and I've only been waiting 3 months. I don't expect any news tomorrow considering what we got for the state of play.
If I ever get the energy to finish anything I don't know where I even want to post, I guess here since I privated my art twitter lol. Maybe bluesky? I've never posted on it...
#hyouta makes a personal post#my crap#i guess#i kinda miss younger me who would just post regardless of how messy something was#obviously i've shown wips messier than others but idk#this post is more to see if it'll help get me to be more active#as in if i make what i'm doing public then it'll make me want to finish it if that makes any sense#i want to finish stuff from my kh posts#this is a nothing post i probably say more in the tags than i do in the post lmao#kingdom hearts

Aaaannnnddddd that's Melody of Memory and Dark Road completed!
A little bit later than I planned, but still miles ahead of the last possible date (I'm not even sure if it'll mean anything anyway, but TR remastered 4-6 is coming out next week so my dad MIGHT grab my ps4 again).
Melody of Memory
Anywho, my clear time for KHMoM is so funny because I picked it up before I did a full series playthrough, but I didn't clear the final stage because I wanted to finish the other games first (even though that never stopped me for Days or DDD).
For a simple little rythm game it's a lot of fun. I'm not perfect at it, and it took me a while to learn some tracks, but it's the only game in the series where I have played Proud mode (according to my clear stats, it was the mode I used the most?? sure).
Almost sucks to have gotten the switch version because I would have unlocked a lot of ps4 trophies...
I definitely think they could have done more for it, and it sucks that it's TECHNICALLY Kairi's game and you only play as her for ONE track and you can't even unlock her after? Ok. Justice for my daughter please??
I will also still complain about there being no Symphony of Sorcery representation in this rythm game like I know the tracks are like 10 minutes long but COME ON...
Last thing I have to say is that, prior to finishing I had seen the credits for this game, but I teared up anyway, I think knowing it's my last playable experience for a while...
Dark Road
I think this and Birth by Sleep (I guess you can throw KH1 in there) are great contained stories. Obviously they mention or lead into bigger stories but I think if they changed the format of Dark Road it'd be one of those stories you can just pick up and watch without worrying about remembering that many details from the other games. (I appreciate that it was broken into clear episodes, even though I watched it all in one sitting).
Going into this the only things I really knew was that it'd explain Xehanort's character a lot more (which is why I didn't comment on his motivation in KH3 because I was reserving judgement) and that Bragi = Luxu. I think this worked for me because asking me to watch a 4 hour graphic novel of sorts is a lot. It took me longer than 4 hours to watch... but I was hooked on the story.
It took me longer of course because I was making notes to process the information I was given (unfortunately I couldn't draw much because I had to pay attention to text, please dub this). It's a bunch of nothing but this is what my notes ended up looking like:
(I think I wrote about it in my notes but the talk about people being a light for others and losing purpose without them, Nomura I'm going to beat your ass specifically for that one!!)
Whether you read relationships in KH as strictly platonic, or something more, it's the relationships in this series that I think makes it so special...
Anyway, art I will probably never fix or finish but wanted to add
(I actually was drawing Lea and Isa clothes swapped to (most obvious thing ever considering what I was watching), stopped to make notes, tried to draw Urd, gave up trying to draw + read at the same time so drew this after - typed up this post and thought oops, my wips...)
Now that I'm done, I sort of want to do something for finishing everything but I don't know what and don't want to be too ambitious my art idea/wip list is already too long. Maybe I'll do one more post talking about everything or something hmm...
#hyouta makes a personal post#my crap#another doodle i cba to finish but i wanted to add sth - also i erased sora last minute lmao#i might just... not worry about art being unfinished anymore or else i'm never going to improve#i need to be more free i think like i actually prefer my art when it's messy...#walking like a carpet is one of the funniest lines in kh i don't care#i'm going to regret posting this at 1am because i'll remember shit i wanted to say#Kingdom Hearts

I have completed KH3 + ReMind
(Just to be clear, I have watched the Limit Cut episode but I haven't fought any data boss or Yozora - not sure when I plan to because I haven't tackled many secret bosses in the series yet...)
So, everyone was just mean about this game then. I don't remember how well it was received by fans at launch but I wonder if it's just the trend of hating on a game a few weeks after most people have played. (I don't care I will defend TOTK until I'm dead lmao). Though also, people have just gotten a lot meaner about things these days...
I'm not sure how I would rank the series overall because I didn't really dislike anything in the end (*cough* ReCom *cough* -- even that I enjoyed by the end)... maybe it's also recency bias again but...
358/2 days
Dream Drop Distance
Kingdom Hearts 3
I said what I said. (Actually, can it even be recency bias if I played the series basically back to back for the past few months?).
My opinion is subject to change... but right now, even though I do see the flaws, these are my favs. I don't think it's a perfect story and there's definitely things I would prefer to be different but it honestly earns number 3 for sea salt fam being united by the end of it lol... I'm a simple person.
NOTES (Again, I made quite a few but I'll pick a small handful -- I wanna say more but my original notes are like 9 pages long):
Got super teary eyed and emotional watching the Don't Think Twice orchestral opening movie... this was an incredible experience.
The graphical upgrade is cool but sometimes the lighting really makes the gameplay models look weird. Especially in the mysterious tower.
"Darkness from being alone is even stronger" ow.
I would not recommend playing the dlc DIRECTLY after the main campaign, it was weird having the cutscenes repeated at me even with the slight changes.
Admittedly even with the dlc I'm still not sure I fully understand how Xion came to be again; not the replica part, but the heart part. She was created from memories to begin with but then returned to Sora's heart... but unlike Ventus and Roxas, was never shown leaving? Like, the memories did, but I had to read the wiki (which I still take with a grain of salt) to understand how she got her heart back from Sora.
Despite my love for the reunions I think the keyblade graveyard had a lot of weak parts, in terms of storyboarding/direction. It just bothered me how much standing around and not reacting there was. It was high tension but then that'd get yanked away by characters just standing still or walking slowly.
(It was funnier than it needed to be imagining each boss wait for others to have their death cutscene before fighting me again).
The Terranort scene bothered me the most, and it's a shame because of how often you have to watch that scene. Though I did see a post on my fyp literally today about how characters like Kairi would have been frozen from trauma and YOU KNOW I forgive that scene a bit, but wish it actually showed that more.
Speaking of showing more. I think way back when before I played it myself I complained saying Re Mind should have been a part of the main game (and I don't mean an episode, post-game). Now that I've actually played it, I only half agree. I think there was still huge plot points that should've been main game, but I understand how the saving Kairi sequence wouldn't fit, in the way it is written.
Leave the disney worlds alone. They're actually so good in this game, I love the size of them! I wish there was more to explore but they've really stepped it up. This should be the standard of how big worlds should be at the MINIMUM.
My biggest complaint about KH3 is actually what they did to 100 acre wood, how we got the same minigame 3 times... besides torn pages there surely could have been a better way to give us more.
Fuck the cherry flan in particular (the others are fine/fun).
KH3 is so funny actually, one of the funniest in the series.
Lucky emblems and classic kingdom were really fun collectables, I managed to find everything before I did the endgame. More like that, please.
--Actually, I have too many notes for real and though I don't think they're that big I can't pick what to add without making this too long so I'll skip.
Keeping in mind that I really loved KH3 and it's my number 3, I think it's biggest problem is having too many characters to juggle and too many arcs to wrap up. I honestly think this game would have benefitted more from being longer, and/or having a bunch of mini episodic games to occur before it (like 0.2 length).
I loved loved loved getting to play as other characters here and there, especially in the DLC (Kairi's play style is so fun? hello? - but also Saïx almost ended me as Roxas). I wish there were more instances of this, and hope we have more in the future.
This was probably one of the easiest games (I died ONCE and that was against a heartless ship I was too slow to escape from) but I think that's more to do with how much freedom you have in terms of battle options. I don't know why people complained about the attractions because I swear besides 2 instances they were optional (and shut up, they were so fun and whimsical, I only didn't use them in the keyblade graveyard/scala ad caelum).
I don't necessarily agree with some of the takes I've seen regarding characterisation, usefullness etc but again, don't want this to be too long. I will say probably the bit I was most ? about was Xemnas' death and what he had to say, but maybe that's just me.
I actually finished on Friday, found out it was the 6th anniversary Saturday and wanted to post for then, but honestly I needed time to think on my feelings. I need to find a way to get them out but I'm not sure how in a way that is not too text heavy and boring.
tl;dr KH3 really good cause now I have these:

#hyouta makes a personal post#my crap#i'm so so rusty at art but i wanted to include a doodle for this post#i actually have finished melody of memory by the time i've posted this but i'll save it for my dark road post#i have too much to say so i wont say it#it'll stay in my notes for now but maybe i'll add some to my next post#Kingdom Hearts

Lyra, my beloved cat of 13 years, passed away this year on Father's Day. She's been by my side through very difficult times and was my little rock of steady and unrelenting love. I struggled a lot drawing this, and struggled a lot posting it, but I know I would've wanted to read a comic like this that validated my grief for her when I lost her.
Wherever you are, Lyra my little summer star, I love you always! Thank you for being the best thing in my life.
#I've only met Lyra irl on 2 occasions when I visited#but what a lovely cat she was#Thank you for looking after my friends and loving them so#*not my art#cw animal death

I watched χ, Back Cover, Union χ and then played 0.2
Hoo boy...
The plot of Kingdom Hearts isn't super duper complicated, no, what's complicated is the rebranding on Union χ, I completely blanked on there being Unchained, which became UX...
♥
I got mixed results on whether or not I should've watched or skipped χ chi but because it was on a suggested play order list I watched it over the New Year. My KH notes (that I started writing separately since re:coded) went from 2.5 pages to 11 pages alone. To be honest it was necessary for me to consume the information in this format. Disney world visits were alright but after the first hour I ended up playing the video at x1.5 speed to get through it slightly faster.
I got hooked right after finishing Agrabah. Ooooh what a lot to take in... I admit it's still a bit confusing to follow with it being dependant on what union you pick but I'm invested. I know who Luxu is from KH3 spoilers but that only makes me more curious.
I'm not going to write out 9 pages of notes, especially since it's just me describing what was happening, but:
I honestly don't know what to make of Cloud. My knowledge of him is limited to KH and Advent Children but damn he "really was gonna kill the Player and then went off to look for 'some guy' in the underworld (sephiroth? I assume? Never played FF7)"; it was sephiroth lol
I think that's the problem with not having played FF (or watched Tron), I ain't got a scooby doo what is going on or what anyone's motivations are
Mr "I'm so aloof" lol
My genuine surprise over Chirithy being a dream eater lol I don't know I just didn't expect a talking one, it seems so unique to the rest; though Riku talks so what am I saying.
♥
And OK... SO back cover was nice to fill in the blanks re: foreteller stuff and it gave me better clarification for one of my notes which was confusion on whose role was whose because it made it seem like it was dependant on the player (but not really?) - side note, been a while but I'm pretty sure I picked Union Ursus, he's a bit of a hard head but I couldn't help but feel bad for him anyway...
Some notes I made on back cover:
I can't read the text in this opening sequence it's too fast hold up
"Among us" I hate this I hate this, I haven't even played that game but that's all I could think of!!
Shaking chirithy in the vial like a shaker charm
Didn't expect Ava to be so young, or sound so young... Master and Luxu surprised me too
"Invi sort of reminds me of Aqua" whatever the fuck that means, I've already forgot
I had limited info on the Master but they were wayyy different than I expected
Lost page talks about "the one who bears the sigil" umm??
Concluded that χ chi wasn't really necessary... I thought it more for the Player context (the bangles and nightmare Chirithy).
♥
A bit naughty to break the order but because I already had the PS4 on I played 0.2 and cleared it in 3 hours. Honestly both this and BBS might be the most replayable games in the series for how easy to take in they are (for rpgs).
Didn't have a ton of things to say but:
PLEASED TO SAY I DIDN'T GET MOTION SICK!!
So... Mickey didn't know Aqua was in the dark world until KH1, where did the whole 10 years thing come from then?
Cute outfits for a dark game, Aqua can have a little bit of cutesy fun, as a treat
I'm telling my kids this is Layers of Fear
I can't remember if I've said this before but even though KH is a jrpg I wish it had more puzzles and platforming
Same with BBS I literally put my face in my hands and grieved for Aqua noooooooo;;
♥
I started the fandubbed version of UX and realised that every part, in part 1, I had already covered so I skipped this (no idea if anything was rewritten).
This dub skipped the Disney worlds so there's only a few things I'm missing out on I suppose, but not the end of the world if it's not super plot heavy. I might look for them after I finished the series.
More notes:
I knew Ven and Lauriam were in UX but I didn't know anything about their roles so I got excited to see them announced as dandelions and the new union leaders*
The twist of Ven not actually being the original choice was cool but man my heart hurts for him
Them talking about a fictional universe within a fictional universe gives me major brain ache but with the context we have for KH4 I am interested in seeing where it leads
Cause I do not really understand the Master's/Luxu's intention or role and I think that's the point but I don't quite understand their characters yet...
Honestly feel so so bad for the Player(s), KH is nothing but pain...
Since I watched UX dubbed I got to work on some wips, but then I got tired of pausing to open my notes app and just started writing in a new canvas.
Turns out the most confusing part of KH for me (along with UX branding) is the Disney worlds and their place in time.
(The song I linked to from my playlist, if anyone cares. It's basically how I feel consuming so much information)
Got me out here feeling like Sora.
The age of fairytales has me asking so many questions... lore related and questions wondering how our present cast will fit into the advancing story.
Me: I want everyone to get to rest and live their lives!
Also me: ok but give me more story of them anyway.
♥
I'm finally onto KH3! It might take me longer to get through due to how much I can play it but I'm hoping to finish the series by the end of January (I've played MoM up to the final part with new story and I will watch Dark Road afterwards of course).
Excited to actually start waiting for KH4 with the rest of you lol.
#hyouta makes a personal post#my crap#i suppose... for the doodles#I have consumed so much KH info basically back to back my head is spinning#still going to start kh3 on friday anyway#Kingdom Hearts

Dream Drop Distance might be my favourite KH game overall (so far at least).
(I mainly made this post separate because I had a question about the next set of games/movies - at the end of the post)
I finished my replay this evening and I'm still heart eyes over this game. Besides my personal bias of it coming out around the time I was going through a medical scare, no one can convince me that it's a bad game (or a bad Kingdom Hearts game).
This is only my second playthrough but I've still NEVER had an issue with the drop mechanic. Maybe it's because I only play on standard, but it never got in the way of any boss fights.
I think the other arguments I see is regarding the time travel plot and honestly it doesn't bother me, especially after experiencing the series properly. I don't know how much was actually planned, what was retconned etcetera but it didn't feel that out of place in the series.
Then there was something about how you can exploit the dream eaters affinity links and brother I just do not care to consider exploits when considering if a game is good or not. Honestly how many people are even going to discover exploits naturally? Other Kingdom Hearts games had exploits too but that's never brought them down.
ANYWAY, some notes I made playing (I literally stopped tweeting and just opened up my notes up for these posts):
The 3DS version of the opening is surperior
I'm a short hair Riku truther (also on that note, a cyan blue eye colour truther, even though I hate that so many characters have blue eyes - I saw people colour Terra's eyes brown and Ven's eyes green and I like that a lot)
I had to get used the the command system d-pad again, but honestly it didn't take that long, I only get stressed when I need cure.
I do miss donald and goofy... it was nice when they helped in re:coded hollow bastion (though it kinda sucks that dream eaters as party members is limited to one game)
I swear I got dual audio in the first flowmotion tutorial because I don't think it was supposed to sound like that
Do people see the χ-blade subtitle in real life because I don't know how they make the distinction
I have ZERO memory of flick rush to the point where I don't think I played it (and didn't play it this time either oops, maybe if I'm trophy hunting later)
I actually understand Sora's connection to Tron now so the Tron world makes a tiny bit more sense... the movie story however... still clueless
I remember when I originally played DDD that Rinzler was more difficult for me than Gigabyte Mantis, but this time it was reversed... if only because I forgot to lock-on and kept triggering flowmotion
"Me at every line of dialogue: how can I make this about akusai" lol I mean, I don't think I realised the parallels until more recently (or I just forgot)
I accidentally played out of order and I realised they... don't actually account for this; DDD can have one flaw, as a treat
Tries not getting my hopes up re: seeing TWEWY (or Neo TWEWY) characters in KH4
Symphony of Sorcery is top 3 worlds for me... maybe even number one, I just wish it wasn't so short...
Translating the reality shifts (and dream eater mini games) from handheld to console is a bit awkward but they made it work I guess
"Pain" ah yes, the husbands reunited lol Not sure if I missed it or if it was talked about elsewhere but I hope they had the decency to make Saïx a nobody again when he was still unconscious... I wanna know about all these blank periods!! (or do I)
Finally I understand how Goofy and Donald got there to save the crew
Honestly playing the games in order has added so much clarity, where I had only a basic understanding. Kingdom Hearts definitely rising the ranks of my favourite video game series'.
I can't even hate the plot and how complex it is because I'm a fan of Tsubasa Chronicles lmao
I'll try and finish art or post wips for my next post so this isn't so boring to go through but I appreciate those who took the time to read my nothing rambles (again, none of my twitter mutuals play KH so it was kind of lonely). Maybe if anyone who got to the end wanna suggest a KH character to doodle? No promises but I'll see!!
And finally my question:
I'm going through a suggested play order and it counts χ (Chi) separate, but I was under the impression it was the original Union Cross? I tried googling it but it's not clear enough if it has story unique for its own viewing or not... (also it means I have 10.8 hours of cutscenes to watch before I get to 0.2, woof)
#hyouta makes a personal post#I finally checked mobile and I think the read more cuts DO work#no art in this I haven't finished any wips just made more lol#but i don't feel like posting them#i probably won't make another post until i watch everything and play 0.2#conscious about making too many text posts and not enough *content*#Kingdom Hearts

KH ramblings part 3 of me saying a whole lot of nothing!! (Person who didn't know Re:Coded was this short)
Actually started this draft immediately after finishing the last post. Things I forgot to say...
It's not that I dislike Disney Town but I feel like the loop was so much shorter than it is in Melody of Memory so the Mickey March + It's a small world had me going crazy...
My dad heard it looping and came in to see because he got nostalgic for the song
Also fuck the platforming in the sewers, I think I accidentally unlocked it before I had good movement but I will burn it to the ground
KH racer game when
Didn't go to the Mirage Arena until just before going to the Keyblade Graveyard as Aqua, and then going to get a Xehanort Report for Terra
Also I rarely used D-Links, oops... it's actually sad how little I utilised them...
Getting trapped in combos was so so painful in BBS and I still don't know what I could've done otherwise because it was never this bad in any other game --- except Re:Com... I remember being so mad fighting Axel the second time even with my cheese boss deck, then I get his boss card that lets you attack even while staggering... which was a slap on the face lmao I was so salty...
Even though I want the full KH experience I've not attempted to unlock the secret movie for any game that has it... maybe I'll try unlocking a few after all games are done.
Speaking of... not sure what I want to do with the mobile games... I have played Union X before and I have access to the app on my phone but I'm not sure about playing all that again.
♥
Anyway onto Re:coded, damn people are way too mean about this game. People say out of the 2 DS games that this one is skippable and I'm not so sure about that... ok the story impact isn't HUGE but it does tie-in quite nicely. It's also like 16 hours without doing any extra stuff, that's one of the shortest experiences, not gonna kill anyone to try it out.
I heard KH3 acknowledges it, so... good. Game so fun I played for 11.5 hours straight.
Honestly the gameplay is so fun and it's a lot more straightfoward than BBS was (though I'm not sure if I utilised everything to the utmost, I got through in the end). Even as it goes through KH1 story beats the different level designs and new ways to fight the bosses makes it feel fresh (except who the hell decided to put an eliminator in the wonderland system sector... what is their deal?? are they satan???).
I watched the movie as I was going through Castle Oblivion (disappointed that they didn't use 13th floor, love that track) and didn't quite finish the game by the time I was done watching but I liked the small things they added to the movie. Some cutscenes were a lot more impactful but I miss some of the dialogue that was cut, even if small stuff.
Quick notes I made:
First impressions is the sprites are giving movie tie-in game. Low-key miss the expression less low-poly ds models lol
Sora babysitting the triplets is cute
First time playing one of the side-scrolling segments and he says "I feel flat".
Olympic Coliseum was so fun. Not gonna lie this world almost became my Agrabah, for it being in every single game so far, but this saved it.
This note just says "fire dashed off the map" because I glitched out of bounds. Thankfully the game did not punish me.
"You always try to take everything on by yourself. But I LIKE getting dragged into your messes" (crying emoji)
One of my new fav bits of dialogue: "Heh, I sometimes envy how simple your world is." "Is... that a compliment?" "I envy whatever makes you think it could be."
I have never had an issue with Hollow Bastion Riku, data or otherwise... but the last one was rage inducing, I just could not for the life of me remember how to counter his charge attack.
Last note is just expressing my disappointment that Sora doesn't hold the cards up to the door in the DS version like he does in Re:Com.
Actually last, last thing... it's funny in the secret ending how they cut of saying Saïx's name, as if it could've been anyone else?? I checked, it's the same in the japanese version... though it doesn't matter too much I suppose, I'm not even sure how long the wait was between this cutscene and DDD.
♥
I have a day off tomorrow to begin my DDD replay!! Then a 3-day weekend to play some more... I already have a note on it that says "Something something Axel not calling Saïx 'Isa' until he himself becomes Lea again something" thanks, me.
♥
Cause it's Christmas... I'll post tiny snippets of SOME things I've been doodling (cause also the likelihood of me posting anything is 10% at best, some of these are already months old lmao)
I want you all to know that I drew Vexen to complete the trio. Because I'm not a coward. However even though these are still the sketch phase too, for his one it's even less finished so I will not be posting lmao...
#hyouta makes a personal post#thank you for reading my long rambles of nothing!!#i included proof i still draw lol#just realised all the wips i picked are all facing the same way that's very on brand for me#still no clue what these posts look like on mobile sorry#my crap#I guess I'll tag that#Kingdom Hearts#aka Caz has a soft spot for the least liked games in the series ig#even re:com which i initially despised i have a soft spot for

More KH ramblings as I finished KH2 for the first time!! ...And damn this was in my drafts for so long that I've also finished my 358/2 days replay and played + finished BBS for the first time...
Once again just very long text post of me saying nothing but none of my twitter mutuals like KH so I feel bad spamming tweets too much.
I'd attach some of my KH wips (there's a surprising amount) but I feel self-conscious posting stuff that unfinished...
Yeah so, just like the raimi spider-man movies, I experienced the game without getting too bothered by annoying fans and I had a good time overall.
I felt like the disney worlds were a little bit lacking in areas but better than my experience in KH1... I think lol...
Some things I forgot to talk about in my original post
D-mode Riku was the saving grace of Reverse/Rebirth, I hated the limited card decks... I'm also dumb and it took me until the middle to understand the dueling system.
100 acre woods WRECKED me in all 3 games, I don't know why... the childhood innocence of it all? Legitimately the few times I have teared up playing through the series so far (other times was Betwixt and Between, and fighting Roxas).
❤︎
Anyway, similar to Re:Com I grinded up pretty far for standard mode, at least compared to the minimum level recommendation. I've maxed every form except Limit and Summon (I never use summons... and I didn't until the very end of KH1) (nevermind, did it quickly before the final Xemnas fight). Final form with Bond of Flame and spamming Firaga is very satisfying - just read that it's good with Master too but I have yet to try it.
Xigbar cooked my ass worse than Xaldin but I had to restart as many times as I fought Roxas. I'm pretty mid at these kind of games.
And after making it to the end of the Cave of Rembrance (because I wanted to get all the puzzle pieces/treasures BEFORE I finished the story)... I just... had a moment of silence... people really be playing this game on Proud/Critical yikes kfdjghfd;;
Last thought it damn why was it so much easier to get Ultima in this than KH1FM.
Anyway...
KH2 > Re:Com > KH1...... maybe, might be recency bias. Despite how Re:Com is hell I think it's also sort of rewarding once you have the right deck. Also, I think the final boss in KH1 is better than KH2.
My tweets: "Not that the xemnas fight was bad... but the over reliance on the reaction command for a fancier looking battle made it more hands off" "Kh1 had me stressed the whole last fight Kh2 I had no idea what I was doing but got there in the end Also I swear it cut his last health bar like 75% just to get me to that reflect ending"
"I do think the cinematic finishes are cool but I was so ??? Trying to figure out if I was missing a prompt bc the second to last phase was stuck at 1 hp forever"
❤︎
I changed my plans and watched the Days movie first, and while it was nice I think it strips a lot of the charm from the DS game; though I have zero idea if it maybe is closer to the original japanese version...? (On a side note watching the days opening now having played Re:Com and KH2- oh! That scene!- oh! Xigbar! Fuck that guy---- Days was my first KH game it's a wonder I understood anything).
I could have sworn I wrote down notes for this playthrough... I don't have a lot more to say than how I've felt about this game over the years. It still might be my favourite... I know the trio is DEFINITELY my favourite of the trios... I know I hated Agrabah for ages because of it but this playthrough helped me get over it and I found myself actually liking the monotony of the gameplay. Leechgrave and Ruler of the sky were way easier than when I was younger I think people exaggerate how hard those bosses are.
Oh right, I never played mission mode or challenge missions that much when I first played it and I don't get why, it's useful and fun!!

Ok so I've got something to admit... despite being a fan of KH for a while now I've never watched like.... hmmm 90% of BBS cutscenes. Gave myself a brief synopsis but just never got around to delving deeper.
BBS dumps so much information and tutorials on you that I still do not fully understand how the command board is supposed to work and at this point I'm too afraid to ask. I'm not sure how beginner friendly this game is... kinda feels like a game for a lot of experimentation or game guides.
It has been years since I've played DDD so getting used to that command deck in BBS was ROUGH, took me until after Radiant Garden to get used to (at least I think it'll prepare me for my DDD replay).
I didn't really get the trio until maybe... fighting Master Eraqus (also, fuck that guy, and his battle). It was from there going forward that I got into the story. To be honest I wasn't sure what to make of Aqua until I played her story and that's when it all fit together, yes... yes I like them all. Still didn't really get too emotional until the point where she is in the realm of darkness and gets saved by those keyblades (I thought it was going to be Mickey - so now I don't know where those Mickey comments about him leaving her there for 10 years come from??).
Mini notes I made during my playthrough:
Obtains reversal and asks what it is before realising it was like Roxas and Sora's reversal move and I was like !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YO (proceeds to never activate it, cause I suck).
One note is just me writing "Captain Justice???????" I assume when he appeared on the command board before I saw him in Ventus' story.
The Spirit of the Magic Mirror is a genuenily terrifying design I hate it so much, and you fight him twice? (not hard, just scary)
Aqua vs Terranort phase 2 was my Legends Arceus Origin Forme Giratina (but thankfully it was MILES easier than the first phase).
I love that when you visit disney worlds in the different stories it plays at different points in time/merges together at some point.
Pacing was a little weird for me because I finished each story in under 10 hours (considering Reverse/Rebirth took me 15 hours) it was pretty surprising... but I think... I like that? I've never been big on JRPGs but I can see BBS as being the easiest to replay for how short each story is. I don't know what they'd do but I'd love another game like this, regardless if it fits into a bigger picture. Let me play side characters like this more PLEASE.
❤︎
Now, I've owned Re:coded on the DS longer than I've had the PS4 collection but I will be playing that next for the first time, I've heard mixed opinion but if the different gameplay is true then that's huge.
For this I WILL play the DS game first before watching the movie and with any luck I should finish it before the new year.
#hyouta makes a personal post#tell me they've fixed read more links for mobile... otherwise I am sorry#i've drawn a couple of pics of lea and isa... both paired and separately which is shocking (i'm in my akusai era again)#but i'm proud of them esp compared to my painfully old drawings of them and other kh characters#will i post them? shrugs and makes i don't know sound#terra ain't that dumb imo cause otherwise everyone else is#it's a wonder i love kh this much when i get frustrated when characters don't TALK to each other#Kingdom Hearts

Some KH ramblings as I play through the entire series for the first time...
I've only played and finished KH1, Days and DDD despite owning the rest for quite some time now and I don't know what awoke the urge but I finally got my ps4 back from my dad so I can properly experience the series myself rather than through watching cutscenes (and honestly I only really remember maybe 60-70% of cutscenes, which is mostly sea salt fam related). I replayed KH1 final mix, thinking I played KH1 final mix originally but honestly I think I first played the ps2 version (I do have a copy for the ps3) because I remember so vividly grinding for materials for the ultima keyblade, when I couldn't even unlock the recipe thise time around. I don't really plan to try to 100% or platinum everything any time soon.
KH1 is KH1, not much to say, got a bit nauseated by the camera in Hollow Bastion specifically for some reason.
RE:Com on the other hand. Oh boy... One of my earliest tweets about this game was about how I found it insufferable. Actually looking at the tweets I did post I was struggling a lot. In defense of RE:Com that insufferable tweet came after I made the rookie mistake of going to Wonderland FIRST because I thought I was supposed to go in KH1 order. After I grinded in Traverse Town for a bit I was fine...
After playing through the game (thank you youtube card deck guides), including Reverse/Rebirth, I can honestly say that it wasn't all that bad. I think it wins points for being unique with its gameplay.
I still wasn't great at it... had to redo some bosses a few times, literally won against Ursula (who was supposed to be easy, oops) with a 0 card and cures, over and over because I panic spammed my deck away. I beat Marluxia first time though! That's something right! I was so relieved that I actually put my face in my hands lmao
Anyway... I'm currently playing KH2 and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. BBS and KH3 are the games I'm still looking forward to playing the most and I tweeted about how KH2 was like the raimi spider-man movies to me. Talked so highly of at the expense of the other games that I was a little put off, but like those movies, I am experiencing them for myself and they aren't so bad.
Having played Days, but not playing KH2, and then finally playing as Roxas in his last week... just about killed me. Twilight Town in KH2 is so good, I can't wait to see it in KH3.
"Not the hints to the akusai divorce lol" I think this was re: Saïx and Xemnas talking and oof, I did not remember that cutscene at all... it probably wasn't what they were hinting at but it hurt all the same.
I think I paused before the worlds visit round 2 for an Echoes of Wisdom break and I'm back now! About level... 42 ish going to Halloweentown for the second visit. I don't know how far that is but I assume 60%?
Xaldin cooked my ass, Mickey had to save me twice but second time it was because Donald prioritised healing Beast instead of Sora. Also, gotta say, hate anti-form. Level up limit forms they said, it'll help you out with bosses they said. Nah, gotta run around until anti-form runs out so I don't die immediately. Am I playing that form wrong??
I was playing tug of war with myself but I will be replaying Days for DS then watching the movie (and doing the same with Re:coded) after this.
Man, I just... have so much more I wanna talk about it's awful dhgkjdfg I wouldn't want to bother any mutuals about it if it's not something they care for... I have a list of Sea salt fam (and some others) pics I want to draw but don't know if I'll manage to draw them before my interests switch again. I'm currently working on what was an Axel doodle, that might be a bit more but I'm not sure... work drains so much out of me.
#hyouta makes a personal post#i say a whole lot of nothing#super incohesive wall of text#maybe if I post again I'll post actual thoughts lol#i'm playing on standard because i'm not that great at this style of game#even though I haven't got there yet they could never make me hate kh3 because I finally got that sea salt fam happy ending I wanted so badl#the ps4 not having an easy way to share photos/videos is killing me#is it still 5 tags before it doesn't show in the main tags?#Kingdom Hearts

random userbase data time
(listed almost every/every game as one option in case you skipped out on some of the multiplayer ones)
please reblog after you vote for Maximum Data, even if you voted no! if you voted for one of the other options, tag your favorite game(s)!
I am just very interested in the presence of the zelda fanbase :>
please note that, for the sake of this poll, remakes count as one game. so like, if you've played the original ocarina of time and master quest and the 3ds version, that counts as one game.
#The Legend of Zelda#I've played everything but FSA i've just never owned it either#would like to one day#favourite zelda depends on my mood
