thinking about the ways in which i, as an egg, and early in my transition, was especially vulnerable to transmisogyny from trans mascs, theyfabs, and cis dykes. when you’re early in the process, or don’t even know that you’re a girl yet, you just have this vague sense that you’d really like to be accepted by lesbians, and often a sense that it’s really important to you that you fit into these communities, and that you get perceived as a feminist or as caring about women, because you’re so worried about feeling predatory, right? so anytime anyone tells you that you shouldn’t do something, shouldn’t think something, shouldn’t say something, shouldn’t feel something, you tend to take it at face value because it’s being told to you by the group that you are desperately trying to fit in with, and you’re terrified of alienating them. the problem is a good amount of the time the stuff these people are telling you is like. when you raise your voice, it feels like you’re a scary man and triggers my ptsd. don’t call yourself a lesbian, that’s not for you. you’ll never understand misogyny the way that people assigned female do. and so on and so forth.
