Midnight Embrace

It was fifteen minutes to midnight. The world outside was silent, but inside your home office, the rustling of papers could be heard. A lone candle cast a warm, flickering glow, illuminating the dim room as you reviewed documents for the Bureau.
As you progressed through the stack of papers, the door to your office creaked open, revealing Orter with furrowed brows.
“Why aren’t you asleep yet?” he questioned, disapproval evident in his tone.
You lifted your gaze from the documents, meeting his eyes. “Were you waiting for me? It’s not good to stay up so late - more work awaits us tomorrow," you responded, your voice tinged with concern.
“I could say the same to you. It's time for bed.”
“You know I cannot. These papers won't attend to themselves."
The situation amused you. Usually, you were the one who would reprimand him for burning the midnight oil, often staying by his side until he either finished his tasks or finally gave in to your coaxing to retire for the night. But tonight, the roles were reversed. 'How the tables have turned,' you thought, smiling to yourself.
Seeing that he refused to leave without you, you rose from your desk and took his hand in yours. ‘Such a stubborn man.’
“Come," you beckoned, guiding him back to your shared bedroom.
Once there, you directed Orter to the edge of the bed, then positioned yourself on his lap. Your arms found their way around his neck, while his hands rested at your waist and cradled the back of your head. In a tender moment, a fervent kiss unfolded between you. As your lips parted, you leaned back with a playful smile and said, “I’ll join you in bed once I finish a bit more. That kiss was enough to help you sleep soundly, don't you think?”
However, as soon as you stood up, preparing to return to your office, a firm grip on your wrist stopped you in your tracks.
"You have done enough for today," Orter’s arms then enveloped you, pulling you down onto the bed into his embrace.
Clearly, he didn't agree.
A soft chuckle escaped you. “And I thought I was the clingy one.”
"Perhaps I've picked up a thing or two from you," he mumbled wearily, his eyelids heavy with exhaustion from the day's work.
True, it wouldn't be that strange. After all, you've been together for quite some time.
“Now, sleep. By my side," he said softly, a gentleness you found impossible to resist.
“Since you've asked so sweetly, I suppose work can wait for another time. Goodnight, darling," you murmured, succumbing to the warmth of his hold.
“Goodnight, dear," he whispered, his breath delicately grazing your skin.
As you closed your eyes, the last sound that graced your ears was the chime of the clock, signaling that midnight had arrived.
In the tranquility of the night, the worries of the day melted away as you both drifted off in each other's embrace.

“You… Words cannot describe how much I despise you in this moment, Orter,” you seethed, your voice laced with frustration.
“You only have yourself to blame," Orter responded calmly. "Your... incompetence isn't my doing.”
“You are the most despicable man I've ever known.”
“Charming as ever,” Orter retorted, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
You felt mentally exhausted. “I'm done. I can’t endure this any longer.”
“BS.” Orter called you out immediately as you played another card.
“Why you…”
It was like clockwork; he saw through your lie, and once again, the pile of cards in the center was returned right back to your hands.
Until today, you hadn’t realized how much a seemingly innocent game of BS could be so detrimental to your relationship.
After 15 rounds, Orter had caught you out every single time. Yet, you couldn't say the same for yourself.
It was that infuriatingly impassive face of his. That unreadable expression that gave nothing away, making it impossible to discern whether he was lying.
“Am I that easy to read?? What kind of boyfriend are you? Why can’t you just let me win for once? Isn't there some unwritten rule about partners letting each other win every now and then?”
“Because that would be unfair to you,” he replied, matter-of-factly.
You couldn’t refute it...
And so, the sixteenth round commenced.
“Five,” you announced, placing down a card.
“BS," Orter declared, once again, without missing a beat.
"........................"
“Let’s just play Old Maid...”

Information about Orter from the fanbook according to a Redditor:

- According to Ryoh, Orter still sent flowers to Alex's grave anonymously every year
- According to Margarette, every time they saw Orter, he was always wearing the same clothes and eating the same thing, like he had some sort of routine going on
- Finn heard from Dot and Lance that Orter seemed to have his pure side too, similar to Rayne
- According to Rayne, Orter was apparently completely unrecognizable without his glasses, so there were times where he had a hard time finding Orter in the Bureau. Orter was also not really aware that he looked different without his glasses.
- There's also a caption mentioning that Orter has always been good at taking care of people, even if he's pretty awkward at it.
Orter's comments on other characters in his relationship chart:
Alex <--- I will never forget about you
Ryoh <--- A relationship you want to leave but is unable to
Wahlberg <--- He's getting on in age
Margarette <--- An accomplice
Wirth <--- Estranged brother
Mash <--- A presence that's hard to forgive
I love him so much dammit 😭❤️

🌸 Recipe for Romance 🌸

Orter's eyes narrowed as soon as you appeared before him in the hallway of the Police Academy.
"Say no more. I'm well aware that you're ecstatic to see me. I'm delighted to see you too," you greeted him with unmatched enthusiasm.
The only response he could provide was a sigh of vexation.
Beside him stood Alex Elliot, known for his strong sense of justice and someone you had grown quite close to.
"Y/N, how do you always manage to appear around the hall at just the right time with lunch for Orter?" Alex questioned.
"If you weren't aware, teleportation magic exists."
"But that's an advanced spell... and you're a first-year."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Let me offer you some words of wisdom, Alex." You pointed a finger at his face, "For the pursuit of love, no spell is too complex."
"Did you learn that spell just to pop over to the Police Academy every day?"
"Of course. How else would I be able to travel wherever I need to? I'll have you know that I'm currently in the process of learning a healing spell as well in the event he gets injured. Look at how caring and thoughtful I am," you said, swelled with a sense of pride.
"That aside... did you also prepare lunch for me this time?" Alex asked eagerly, his mouth already watering at the thought of your cooking.
You feigned a thoughtful look. "Hmm, let's see... is your name Orter Mádl?"
"That's playing favorites!" he protested.
"I'm kidding. Here's your share as well. Knowing your appetite, I made sure to make your portion bigger," you said, handing him a generously filled lunchbox.
"If it weren't clear as day to everyone that you were pursuing Orter, I would definitely ask for your hand in marriage," he declared, half-joking.
"See how he's much more honest than you, Orter? You should take notes," you said, turning to Orter with a smug smile.
"Taking notes would suggest a level of interest that doesn't exist," he retorted, adjusting his glasses.
"Well then, let's not keep the food waiting," you said, unfazed by his blunt comment.
The three of you made your way to the cafeteria and sat at an empty table.
"Mmmmmm! Good eats!!" Alex exclaimed as he began devouring the lunch you made.
"I'm glad at least one person appreciates my cooking," you said, glancing at Orter. "A word of acknowledgement would be nice."
"The meal is edible," he responded impassively.
"Is that what you would considered praise? You could stand to improve."
He took a deep breath before replying. "It's more than merely edible - it's acceptable."
"I knew it was delicious! After all, I made it," you beamed, choosing to take his words as a compliment.
How you always managed to misconstrue his words, he would never know.
"I'll let you in on a little secret since I like you so much. This particular recipe uses a secret ingredient that makes the food so delicious."
"Curious to know what it is? I don't mind telling you~" you teased, leaning in closer.
"I don't care," he replied flatly, his gaze fixed on his meal.
"The secret ingredient is love!"
"Stop disrupting my lunch," he said, his patience wearing thin.
His words fell on deaf ears as you ignored him and continued, "They say that love is the hardest ingredient of all to add, so now you know how much effort I put into making these delicious lunches for you everyday."
"Your efforts were unsolicited."
"But you still enjoy them, right? Then that's all that matters."
"Where did you get the impression that I find them enjoyable? My only concern is that they're nourishing and edible."
"If you date me, I'll cook nourishing and edible meals like this for you everyday~"
"Consider that fantasy dispelled. Such a thing won't occur in this lifetime."
Your smile widened. "So there's a chance in another life? If that's the case, then I'll traverse the realm to find you again."
The furrow in Orter's brow deepened, and he closed his eyes with a sigh before continuing, "Allow me to rephrase since it appears you don't understand. There is no chance of it happening."
But your grin remained, as bright as ever. "Well, I'm an optimist at heart, so I have hope."
True to routine, the back-and-forth between you two continued on until the lunch break was nearing its end.
"Thanks for the grub today," Alex said.
"No problem. I'm considering trying out some new recipes. Maybe I'll slip a few Cupid gummies into Orter's lunchbox next time," you mused.
If Orter weren't an emotionless machine, you'd figure you would see a vein appearing on his face right now.
"Penal code, Article 33290 - Tampering with another's food, carries a fine of 10,000 lond or a maximum sentence of 15 years!" Alex recited with a hint of mock severity.
"Wait, wait, wait! It was only a joke, I swear!" you quickly said, raising both hands in defense. "I can't afford the fine or imprisonment! How will I prepare your meals everyday if I'm stuck behind bars?"
"As courtesy for today, I'll overlook it just this once," Alex replied, the corners of his mouth curving into a smile.
"Perhaps I'll sneak chocolate cavities or a fight candy in yours," you muttered under your breath, loud enough for him to hear.
The bell's chime echoed through the halls, signaling the end of the lunch break.
As you prepared to return to the main building of Easton Academy, there was one last thing you needed to do.
"Before I leave, I have something special for you," you announced, turning towards Orter.
Orter braced himself, for experience had taught him to expect nothing good from you.
Rummaging through your robes, you appeared to struggle to find what you were looking for.
Finally, with a triumph smile, you pulled out...
A finger heart.
"See ya!" With a wave, you disappeared in a flash of green flames.
Watching you vanish, Alex turned to Orter with a raised eyebrow. "Orter, did you cast some kind of charm spell? Y/N is quite taken with you."
He didn't know how to cast one, nor did he recall ever doing so, but now he was starting to wonder.
For reasons unknown to him, his mood was slightly elevated for the rest of the day.
Trying to find out the exact cause seemed futile, so he chose to simply let it be.
And so began the series of exchanges that would gradually kindle Orter's affection for a certain mage.
.
.
.
Alone in his dorm room after school, Orter couldn't help but replay the scene of you making the finger heart. Despite his attempts to dismiss it, the image stubbornly stuck in his head. He begrudgingly acknowledged the cuteness of the gesture, though he'd never confess it aloud - it would be as likely as hell freezing over.

☀️ A Vacation to Remember ☀️

"Last year, I wanted to invite you to the beach, but you immediately shot me down without even hearing me out,” you said, pretending to wipe away imaginary tears. “You wounded me, you know. Oh, how times have changed.”
“I had better things to do than to spend my summer break with you,” Orter deadpanned, adjusting his glasses as he spoke.
“So you were just shy. I get it. Since you agreed to go this time, I'll take that as a sign we’re growing closer~”
“Do not put words into my mouth.”
You, Orter, and Alex were currently at the beach for summer break. It took a lot of convincing from both you and Alex before Orter finally agreed to be abducted to the beach.
However, while you and Alex were playing in the ocean, a certain four-eyes was seated in the shade, reading a book.
Noticing this transgression, you made your way over to him. "Why are you reading at the beach? Your habit of overreading is precisely the reason why your eyes turn into 3s when you take your glasses off,” you remarked, casting a playful glance at him.
Before Orter could respond to your cheeky remark, Alex approached with something in his hand. “I brought a slaughtermelon!"
"Why would you bring that here?" Orter asked, a trace of revulsion colored his face.
"It's times like these when you gotta smash melons, dummy!" Alex exclaimed enthusiastically.
"'Tis the season," you concurred, eyeing Orter mischievously.
"Speaking of smashing melons... Orter's pretty hard-headed. We could smash the slaughtermelon onto his head,” you suggested, half-jokingly. “I doubt he would sustain any brain damage due to that skull of his.”
Immediately following your words, you were pulled into the sand, finding yourself eye-level with Orter's feet. You had forgotten that you were currently in his natural territory.
“Did I lie, though?”
As night descended, you found Orter by the shore, his nose buried in a book as usual.
Approaching with a playful smile, you asked, “Mind if I join you?”
Without lifting his gaze from the pages, he replied, “What’s the point of asking? You’d do so regardless.”
“You’re so right, Orter. I can’t believe you know me so well,” you chuckled, earning a slight “tsk” from him.
“So, what brings you out here at this hour while Alex is fast asleep?” you inquired, settling down beside him.
Orter, as dry as ever, responded, “I went out to get away from you, but it appears that plan failed."
Without skipping a beat, you flashed a wide grin. “Then I’ll have no choice but to make you enjoy my company~”
At this point, he had completely abandoned any hope of reading in peace.
“What makes you think I want that?” Orter glanced your way, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose.
"I mean, who wouldn't want someone as charming as myself for company?" you remarked confidently, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
Knowing that arguing with you was only a waste of time and breath, he let out an exasperated sigh and resigned himself to your presence, listening to your ramblings while gazing at the scenery.
It was a night of the full moon, the sky adorned with countless stars.
They say that the company you keep can enhance moments like these...
Though Orter was not one to appreciate the natural beauty of the night, the scene tonight was particularly alluring.
At some point, you fell silent. Resting your head on your knees, you watched as Orter absorbed the view before him with his usual expressionless face. His presence alone had a way of making your heart skip a beat.
Opportunities to silently enjoy his company like this were rare, so you were savoring every second.
The scene of the ocean and sky illuminated by the full moon was breathtaking, and yet… you found the concentric rings in his eyes far more captivating.
“Quit staring,” his voice interrupted your trance.
“Oh, was I..? Maybe because the person I’m looking at is too mesmerizing to avert my eyes,” you teased.
Your comeback left him momentarily at a loss for words. Never before had he had to deal with anyone this... brazen. “You and your jokes. Your shamelessness knows no bounds, does it?” he said, adjusting his glasses.
"Yep. Since you already know how shameless I am, I'd like to take a picture of you; it'll last longer," you replied with a wink.
"A camera would be required for that," he remarked dryly.
"Don't underestimate me. I come prepared for every situation," you said, producing a camera out of thin air.
"Let's take one together," you suggested, closing the distance between you.
Orter didn't mind the proximity, per se, but it was the sudden closeness that flustered him. “Fine,” he relented, “but just one photo.”
With a click, the picture was captured.
The photo was a success. "It's perfect! I'll make sure to cherish this picture forever," you giggled, filled with genuine delight.
Turning to Orter, you added with a grin, "Oh, and just for the record, I'm only this shameless when it comes to you."
Orter averted his gaze, his ears tinged with red. "Hand me a copy. I need to make sure you didn't make me look foolish."
As you handed him a copy, you noticed a subtle softening in his eyes. “You don't look silly at all. It’s impossible to make you look silly. The camera likes you just as much as I do,” you teased, nudging him playfully with your elbow.
“I suppose it’s an acceptable photograph,” he reluctantly admitted, as he carefully placed the photo into his book, marking the page he had been reading.
In that moment, you felt grateful for the scenery that lay before your eyes, for the cool ocean breeze that caressed your skin, for his presence that comforted your very soul, and you hoped Orter felt the same way too.
With softened eyes and heartfelt sincerity, you expressed, “I’m truly glad, Orter, that you’re part of this photograph and this precious memory of mine...”

Welcome Home | Orter Mádl x Reader
Orter always found himself returning to an empty house, devoid of any warmth. He had always been indifferent to solitude; whether he had company or not made no difference to him.
But recently, things had taken a different turn.
As he opened the door to your shared home, you greeted him with a soft smile, “Welcome home, Orter.”
Being met by your loving face every day after returning from work was one of life's greatest joys. The first time he beheld such a sight, he figured he could grow accustomed to this.
If any energy remained in his body, it dissipated at once, and he collapsed. But before he could hit the floor, you caught him and enveloped him in your tender embrace.
“Gotcha," you said with a playful smile. "Now come lie down on the couch.” You gently removed his coat before guiding him to the living room.
“You must be exhausted after such a hard day’s work.”
That knowing tone… that knowing tone was enough to induce a pleasant ache in his heart.
As you helped him settle onto the couch, he seized the opportunity to close the distance between you. With a tenderness that made your heart flutter, he placed a gentle kiss on your lips before sinking into the cushions.
"Missed me that much?" you teased.
"Always," he whispered. A simple response, yet it carried the weight of his sincerity.
“Rest for a bit,” you said softly as you stroked his bangs away from his face, “Dinner will be ready soon.”
Your voice was like a healing remedy, so so soothing, almost erasing the persistent ache in his head.
Releasing the tension he had been suppressing, he took a deep breath and admired your figure as you prepared dinner in the kitchen.
After experiencing this warmth, he couldn't bear the thought of living alone again.
Little moments like this were all he wished to experience for the rest of his days…
Idk why I couldn’t reply to a comment on my previous post, but thank you sm for the nice comment 😭❤️

Orter Mádl x Reader

The Magic Realm is currently in turmoil, plagued by a wave of chaos caused by a perpetrator who has been indiscriminately stealing magic from civilians. Orter Mádl himself fell victim to this individual, losing his magical ability during a confrontation. You, alongside the rest of the Divine Visionaries, worked tenaciously to track down the perpetrator, but progress remained frustratingly slow.
Despite the Bureau's attempts to keep the matter under wraps, news of Orter's loss of magic spread like wildfire through the town. Frustration and unrest boiled over, prompting the civilians to point fingers at the easiest target: Orter. They blamed him for failing to catch the culprit and began protesting outside the Bureau's building.
"How can a magicless person serve as a wand of the Gods?!" a protestor exclaimed. “He must be dismissed from his position as a Divine Visionary posthaste!"
Another voice chimed in, “He couldn’t even catch the culprit, and now he’s lost his magic. He’s clearly unfit to remain a servant of the divine!”
“They’re quite noisy today,” Kaldo sighed, observing the commotion below from inside the building.
Frustrated by the incessant clamor, you made a bold move, swinging open the double doors and striding onto the balcony to confront the crowd directly.
"Enough!” you declared, your gaze piercing through the crowd. “What I'm about to say is not an official statement from the Bureau, but a personal statement from myself as the Judgement Cane."
Your voice carried authority as you continued, “I will not tolerate anyone continuing to speak ill of the Desert Cane. Whether he remains a Divine Visionary is not for you to dictate, nor is it your place to question. Need I remind you all of your stations?”
“But he lost his magic! What good is a Divine Visionary without magic?” a dissenting voice interjected.
Another voice challenged, “But you're the Judgement Cane! How can you accept a lackmagic working alongside you?"
You were now livid, practically screaming at the crowd. "So what if he lost his magical abilities? Since the day he became a Divine Visionary, he has worked tirelessly for the sake of each and every one of you. Up until now, you ungrateful swines have enjoyed the fruits of his labor, yet here you are, ready to turn your back on him the moment he lost his magical ability. Have you no bounds to your foolishness?!”
The crowd fell silent, their gazes shifting uncomfortably under the weight of your accusations. You continued, your voice sharp and resolute. "Someone who has devoted himself to creating a world where order matters so everyone can live in peace...should never be subjected to such treatment. I will never allow it."
It was quite ironic. As the Judgement Cane, entrusted with delivering rational verdicts, here you were, allowing your emotions to guide your actions.
"Any further insults or harassment, and there will be consequences." You issued the threat with a final glare at the crowd before retreating back into the building.
Inside, Orter met you with a stern expression on his face.
“That was irrational of you. You will face extreme repercussions for this,” he remarked.
“Irrational? Hardly.” You countered. “Defending my fiancé from slander was the only logical course of action.”
Although he didn’t show it, you could sense how deeply the situation affected him. After all, in this realm, magic is everything, and those without it are often deemed forsaken by the Gods. Any ordinary person would have already been executed.
A ghost of a smile tugged at the corners of Orter's lips. He knew he should have been angry at your impulsive actions, but he couldn't bring himself to be.
Your unwavering devotion meant more to him than he could express, despite his demeanor.
Inspired by chapter 81 of the manga. Lemon rose several places in my personal ranking after that chapter. Really moved me to tears with her speech 🤌
