Fear and Hunger takes place in (a fictional parallel to) England and america was never colonised, thus "they would not fucking spell it the american way" needs to be said for a lot of words.

however it takes place in a uniquely horrifying world full of suffering and misery, and thus they would in fact spell things the american way (it causes suffering and misery) (america is a continent full of shadows and demons)
