notes: he is someone who puts up masks and acts to make himself much more than he is. Mal is simply just a teenager who tries to atone for something when he has nothing to atone for. he’s a parallel/mirror to martin.

the changes in his design are to aide in the portrayal that he chains himself to his role as president. the sashes and cuffs of his gloves show that he binds himself and not allows himself freedom to do what he wishes, which is return to his dimension and reunite with his family. inspirations of this design is Es from MILGRAM.

notes: untouchable and unbothered; a performer that plays his parts to absolute perfection. raised and groomed by his rick to be a genius. a morty unparalleled any other morty. he maintains the same goal as his canon counterpart, to be free in someplace beyond the control of ricks. made to be a balance and companion for erick.

unless they specifically asked, you don’t get to tell a fanfic writer you think they mischaracterized the character by the way. because the second someone writes a fanfic about a character, that character becomes the writer’s own version of the character. canon is only a suggestion, but whether or not an author will follow it / how much of canon an author will take is entirely up to them. you don’t get to stick your nose in their world and tell them “hey this is not to my liking therefore I think you’re doing it wrong” when you can simply leave quietly and move on to something else you may enjoy
