The reason I want Byler to be canon is not because I think it’ll be cute, for representation, or for any other reason. It’s just because I have spent my whole life fighting against the idea that the curtains were just blue.

I want to believe that, in a world so hostile to art and literature, we are still able to create, to understand and to appreciate masterful writing. If Byler does not become canon, then the triangle was just facing that way, the colors just looked good together, the parallels were just accidents.

Where does this leave art?

It leaves us with the knowledge that deeper analysis only leaves you disappointed. It leaves us knowing that there is no incentive to creation in a world where the only goal is profit.

It seems a bit dramatic to say about a fictional gay ship between two teenagers from a Netfix Original show, but these same conclusions could be made from any piece of contemporary art or literature.

I have created art for almost my whole life. It would hurt to know that the thing I have given my soul to is not treated with care by the people I have looked up to my whole life, which is artists of any kind who are able to share their work with the world.

Hear me out but Mike getting vecna’d and El using her powers to get into his mind place and save him. She gets into his mind but isn’t able to find him anywhere until she hears soft crying. It’s Mike holding Will in his arms, blood dripping from the other boy’s eyes.

El can hear Mike whispering something to Will, something along the lines of ‘don’t leave me’ or ‘please come back’. He’s clutching onto Will’s hand and placing it towards his lips, fully sobbing now.

El places a hand on Mike’s shoulder and he quickly turns around. ‘Mike, it’s not real’ she whispers but Mike is inconsolable. He breaks down holding El’s arm, repeatedly choking out ‘it’s my fault, it’s all my fault’. She pulls his arm hurriedly and tells him ‘let’s go, it’s not safe hear’

But before she could insist further, a voice booms ‘why do you love someone who doesn’t love you back, Eleven?’ And El is transfixed while Mike holds Will’s body closer to his chest. ‘Why do you waste your time trying to save him?’

In the background the beginning of ‘small town boy’ plays as El can hear the real Will’s voice talk to her, saying ‘quick El please, find him’ and she can hear the desperation in his voice. She stops to look back at Mike, who was still on the floor, cradling fake Will’s body. And she understands.

She understands everything.

Just think about it.

I can't believe people seriously think she's going to be unhappy unless she's with Mike when we have all of this in the show where it's pretty clear she's fine even if they break up Vs. the most heartbreaking Will scene because he loves Mike so much and believes he will never love him back

So we have an issue that should be addressed.

I love all byler fanartists sooo dearly you’re all so talented and creative…..but why do I feel like I see so many with people drawing will being built like a twig and having sticks for arms, while at the same time turning mike into some meaty muscle-ish guy?

I mean frankly…it’s the other way around? Like Mike is actually super tall and skinny so obviously he’s very lanky, that’s just how he looks. And Noah was BULKED UP in season four like crazy in comparison to the seasons before. Why do you feel the need to turn will into your twink stereotype just bc he’s canonically gay, likes art, and is more sensitive.

It’s even weirder people denying both their body types by making them BOTH TWINKS. Like I think our biggest issue today is teenage fans changing mlm ship characters to fit into their stereotypes and even pandering to their own obvious fetishized idea and preferences.

Listen I’m so normal and nonchalant and don’t really care about signs or canon whatever nonsense, but every other party member besides Mike and Will having a book (with El’s confirmed to come out in October now, omg I need to buy it so bad) is actually making me kind of insane. Specifically Mike. What do you mean we’re not allowed in his head? That he doesn’t get a book AND we don’t get his POV in the show after season 2?? When he’s literally the main character???
