I haven't written here for a long time. And I'm not going to write anything meaningful. Not only do I not write here, I don't even go there. I don't see any context with Foggy: neither on TikTok nor on Tumblr. But today I accidentally came across a TikTok with Foggy. I cried. Because I miss him. Because he was my comfortable character. There's so little content with him. There's little content with Elden. Maybe I'm exaggerating his importance in the DD universe. But in my universe, he's of great importance.

“Mattfoggy is canon” i say into the microphone. The crowd boos, I sigh and begin to walk off stage. "They’re right" a voice says. I turn and there he is. Elden Henson.

Look, maybe it's okay to keep Foggy dead instead of behind bars for killing someone. Give me a second and I'll explain. I was watching Jessica Jones recently and Trish killed someone and went to jail. And seeing how Disney is so casual about Foggy, I'd rather him stay dead than a murderer and in jail. (And yes, I know Foggy isn't that type of guy and wouldn't do that, but we see what happened in BA. No one can promise that they won't do the same to him)

If this is true and they are going to add the "enemy of my enemy" arc without bringing Foggy back then I'm sorry but I will not be watching this show anymore. Disney is turning this into a circus. For me, DD is now just a Netflix show and comics. This is a slap in the face to true fans. You do realize that this arc is just added for fan service, right? I'm not allowed to say this, I know, but I hope season 2 fails. That's the only way Disney will realize they screwed up and won't renew it any further to milk money.
dude i can't believe i just heard with my own two ears that they really said outright that they're giving bullseye a "redemption-ish" arc in direct relation to a question partially about the dynamic between matt and bullseye next season.
idk what the 'ish' part means here but it doesn't even really matter.
that's genuinely the dumbest thing i've heard confirmed about this season so far. unless the "redemption-ish" arc involves bullseye being directly involved in foggy coming back from the dead, they're out of their fucking minds if matt has literally anything to do with that.
i already knew this team has no concept of who these characters are because it's abundantly clear in how they fucked up characterization all around. and this was already speculation people had, so i've been annoyed about the possibility since that started, but knowing it's confirmed now.. just wild.
you can't redeem killing foggy nelson in dd? what the fuck?

Remember, Foggy is and will always be considered Matt's family, after his father. Not Karen, not Stick, not Elektra. It's always Foggy. People need other people who make them happy without romance, who sow warmth and care in them. Someone who keeps them grounded, who will scold them for their own good. People need best friends who are considered their family. Why did the Disney showrunners forget this? Um...because Disney is allergic to "best friends." It happened with Steve and Bucky. It happened with Clint and Natasha. It happened with Tony and Rhodey. It happened with Peter and Ned. They were each other's only ones from the start. I predict: Sam and Bucky will be separated in future movies. They will get everyone best friends.

Damn, I think this guy has some kind of grudge against "best friend" relationships. That kind of hatred is not something that comes from a non-traumatized person. Check his background, did his best friend ever hurt him? Because now it's showing up on the show. Or is it just fatphobia? Because calling Foggy "comic relief" is ruining Netflix's work of making the best friend a truly deep and multifaceted character. And yeah, the more I hear Karen vs. Foggy, the more I get anti-Karen.
Me when Scardapane (yet again!) leaves Foggy out during a Daredevil discussion while discussing Foggy:

I don't know if anyone wrote about this or not, but... Elden is so sexy with a beard in the first episode of BA. Imagine if they left his hair like he did in season 1. Chef kiss. How could they write into the script that he's bad at flirting? Foggy? Show!Foggy is bad at flirting? If the answer is yes, then we were watching different TV shows. This guy drove Marcy crazy. This goddess. And out of all the characters, he has the vibe of a good sex partner who will take care of your pleasure. And what's there to hide, he's the only one with a stable relationship. And we saw him going on dates (season 2).
Conspiracy theory: what if Foggy was killed because Elden was too hot and everyone would start shipping Matt and Foggy? (I've been doing this for a long time). They're 40+ years old. They're single. One left Marcy for Matt, the other stops Karen when she suggests that they both leave. Well, now I'm going to believe it. Elden you were too hot and charming, you would have stolen everyone's hearts (mine has been for a long time now), that's why Foggy was removed (😱😱😱)
P.S. My brain is melting because of the hot weather. I'm already talking nonsense. But Elden is really hot with a beard. And I feel big dick energy.

another small gripe i have with born again is how they act like foggy can’t flirt bc did i watch the same netflix daredevil as the show runners? this man is downright charming. canonical rizz. in the court and out lol he pulled marci and matt at the same time in law school
also matt making fun of foggy’s flirting being cringe is so funny like bro. matthew. buddy. YOU are the one who makes awkward jokes about him marrying and kissing you. YOU are the one who got flustered when he called you hot and then immediately decided to follow him around forever afterwards. many such cases

Please, someone write a fanfic where Matt from BA gets to any universe where Foggy is alive. I need dialogue, I need Matt to have a good cry and be able to go to church normally.
Other ideas: if Matt gets to Earth-65 where Matt and Foggy are feuding. I can't take it anymore(((

My friend recently watched DD:BA. A little context: he is currently studying to be a director, and works as a cameraman and editor in film. He is familiar with the Daredevil comics and the Netflix show, but he could not find the time to watch BA. To be fair, I did not influence his opinion in any way. He did not even listen to my voicemails where I tearfully tell about Foggy’s death. So here is a semi-professional opinion on BA. The rest is direct speech.
“The editing and filming are completely different from Netflix. Netflix is better. But I like the color correction from Disney more. The scene with the fight with Bullseye in episode 1 was done completely shamefully. Did they smoke to hide the mistakes? And why does Matt fly like a spider? Of course, I understand that they wanted to bring a little from the comics, but from the very beginning Daredevil was positioned as close to reality. There are still places where it's not a show, but like a game, like the fights were drawn and not filmed. New strange people who were not revealed. WHO THE FUCK IS CHERRY? Everything happens too fast. We didn't even find out what was going on behind the scenes all this time. The beginning is interesting, but then not so much. Everything was filmed on anamorphic lenses, and those glare from the headlights pissed me off, etc. The picture was compressed, which is really unusual, it looks somehow eye-catching. DID THEY REALLY KILL FOGGY AT 8 MINUTES? I don't understand at all why the line with Foggy's murder? It's not logical. This line seems to hit a dead end. There are also funny moments where Matt is sitting at his laptop, without headphones, which would read the screen. In short, there are too many small flaws that spoil the overall impression. The soundtracks are cool. Overall, if you don't figure it out, then it's a passable show. For one time."
It's not me. It's him. So even people with a professional view consider BA to be just a passing series.
P.S. We used to follow Charlie and Elden's movies, and were constantly worried that they were out of work after season 3.

you know what fucked me up today? I saw a tik tok from the @isagnocchi, and there is a video sequence where after an injury Matt says "Foggy". The first moment, in the episode Nelson vs. Murdock. The second moment, in the episode where Foggy finds Matt on the roof in season 2 and Matt wakes up and calls Foggy. and the author added a third moment, something like "let's imagine" that in episode 9 of BA, Matt wakes up in the hospital and also calls Foggy. fuck((((
P.S. OMG. I just saw. taking advantage of the opportunity. you are fucking awesome 🫶

Day 95: Not a day goes by that I don’t think about Foggy and how unfair it was to write him off the show. If the showrunners wanted to kill Foggy, they have his cancer arc. Why not just make that arc last the entire season? Imagine this depressing sequence where Foggy is slowly dying and Fisk is gaining power. Matt is torn between caring for Foggy and fighting Fisk. And in the end, when Foggy dies, Matt fights Fisk and just doesn’t make it in time for Foggy’s last breath. There you have it, a reason to not be Daredevil anymore. Then new viewers would get to know Foggy and the death would have weight. Old viewers would get to be with their favorite character and say goodbye.

I think there should be limits to creative freedom when it comes to some media.
Especially when it comes to characters that are a lifeline for many people. You'd be surprised if you knew that there are people who are attached and have one fictional character as a real person, as their guide and example and comfort. Which is not 100% healthy, but sometimes it's all a person has.
Killing Foggy in a cruel and humiliating way not only ruins and tarnishes a character that has been established for decades, but it's also traumatic for those who still rely on the old series as some kind of escape.

Matt saying at the top of the season "Don't underestimate our Foggy" and then proceeding to underestimate Foggy for the following 8 episodes by making a vow of honor Foggy never asked him to make, thinking Foggy would hate him for breaking that vow, and completely dropping the ball on Foggy's final legal case which was directly tied to why Foggy died

First of all, bravo to everyone who wrote above. This is the most fascinating half hour of reading. I have something to add, and this is once again about the Disney corporation itself. You understand that they work purely for profit? Perhaps you will say “why is this bad”? But Disney + Marvel work with a plot, they must tell a story, and not just show with a picture, although their picture is also lame. For them, such complex plots, as described by the "author", are not accepted. They take the most simple, stupid lines, thinking that their viewer is an idiot and will not understand something more difficult. I have read a lot of theories about Foggy's "death" and they are so interesting, complex and logical, and I immediately understand that Disney would never use such a thing. Once again. DISNEY CARE ABOUT MONEY, NOT THE STORY THEY TELL. If they were interested in history, they would never have done what happened in the show. And I'm sure they just cut Elden to stupidly replace him with Jon or someone else. Because they need to make more money and they wrote the Punisher to milk money. People are right. BA is unwatchable. I'm trying to rewatch it to cut out a few moments for analysis, but it's so hard to stand those 45 minutes. Although I have rewatched DD from Netflix like 5 times. Oh, and I'm so glad that someone also wants to see Foggy as a secret vigilant, because that's one of my favorite fantasies.
So Foggy's scenes are: he's not sitting with his friends at the bar and they make fun of his flirting attempts, Matt gets mad at him for hiding something, he says something else that Matt gets upset by and walks off in a huff, and then he dies without even getting to see Matt one more time.
The audience then has to relive that dying moment with Matt episode after episode via picture totem and flashback, while Matt won't even say Foggy's name. And at one point it's implied Matt hears his voice, yet the show never addresses or portrays that at any point afterwards. And then when Matt finally gives in to his own temptations he simply says "Fuck it" and abandons the picture on the table
and we never see it again
not even when Matt goes hunting for answers about a case that apparently no one, neither Matt nor Karen, decided to dig even a little bit further into, they just took the police detectives word for it. They didn't even review or resolve the Benny case that got left behind in the aftermath.
But don't worry, they figure it all out after seeing one piece of paper and then bond over a Foggy-related item we the audience have never even seen before!
And then finally Karen reassures Matt that yes, Foggy loved all of him, and not even a single visual or auditory reference is given as a signal of closure. Not for Matt, not for the audience. Just dangling threads that are dropped the second they aren't relevant anymore and that I'm told over and over don't mean anything.

Let me add that Foggy is a representation of ordinary people like us.
i kinda think if you’re alright with them permanently killing foggy nelson or don’t agree he should come back through a brubaker inspired plot that you’re just not a real daredevil fan lmao
and yeah i’m comfortable going there, i don’t care if it sounds gatekeepy
some people talk about this like it’s them killing off any character, like doing this is just the same as other character deaths that have happened or could’ve happened
actually foggy serves a specific narrative role in the story and has been around for the entire comics run for a reason, he is integral to matt being matt and an important part of the franchise
you don’t have to like the character, i don't even care if you hate him, but if you can’t understand why this is different and can’t understand why this is so objectively bad regardless of personal taste, then i’d argue you maybe just don’t understand daredevil at all

you know what angers me more than killing foggy to move the plot forward is that they mention him literally in every episode thinking that this will be enough for us, that this will smooth things over. disgusting move
