be kind to kids (yes, this includes teenagers) who identify as nonhuman, otherkin, fictionkin, therian, alterhuman, or a furry. they are living their life the way that makes sense to them. they don't deserve an "i told you so" if they grow out of identifying that way later on. they don't deserve to be asked "aren't you too old for that now?" they don't deserve to be laughed at and mocked online. children forming a wolf pack aren't hurting anyone. kids who want to meet other kids who identify as nonhuman aren't embarrassing.
kids need a sense of community no matter who they are. kids deserve the right to identify their own feelings. kids are allowed to express parts of themselves adults find "embarrassing". adults are allowed to do all of these things, too, but it's become routine for folks online to mock literal children for embarrassing behavior.
identifying as an animal isn't embarrassing; what is embarrassing is being an adult and picking on literal children. who cares, it's not hurting a singular soul. let them explore identity in ways that make sense to them. identifying as nonhuman isn't a danger to anyone else. they aren't hurting themselves. let them identify as a nonhuman and explore what that means to them. let them live their lives.

i am out as a therian (intentionally) to one person: a friend of mine whom i met because we are both furries. when we went to a furry convention together, i told her i wanted to go to the therianthropy panel and she asked me if im a therian. i told her yes, im a dog. she asked me what breed, and i told her likely border collie. she thought it was interesting, and was generally supportive. she has made some comments since then about me being a therian, like “but you ARE a dog! because you’re a therian” and stuff like that. she’s sweet
yesterday she told me she thinks she’s a lion therian :) she asked me how she would know and what it really means. i explained my experiences to her and how i knew i was a therian. then we spent the rest of the day sending each other pictures of dogs and lions saying “literally you”
i love my fellow nonhumans 🩷

something I'd like to say..
i dont care if someone's preferred pronouns bring you discomfort, use them or dont talk about them or interact with them.
"but indi! it/its pronouns are dehumanizi-"
NOPE! i dont care!
"but, this person goes by he/him but dresses femininely-"
so? is it actually hurting you?
"but neopronouns are hurting the trans communi-"
transphobes and terfs are hurting the trans community!

being an uncommon creature in the therian community can feel quite isolating. a lot of the posts you see are mostly about canines and felines, which is not a problem but can make a lot of therians feel distanced from their community because they can't sympathise with those experiences.
Being a coati myself, I often feel alone. theres very few coatis around. While I'm a Coatimundi (male coati), which is solitary, I still yearn for a band.
But at the same time, I'm happy to be uncommon. I get to add to the diversity to the community ^^ I get to show a unique perspective.
this is really just a rambling of mine but,
YIPPIEEEE TO THE NOT COMMONLY SEEN THERIANS

”✨things to do when your a therian🐾” type of videos/posts lowkey piss me off. It’s always “draw your theriotype! Make therian masks! Jump over things! Build a den!” Not that there’s anything wrong with doing these things obviously but they’re so annoying to me because they just say literally the exact same things every time, the exact same, basic, stereotypical “tiktok therian” activities. And I doubt that any alterhumans who are bored will see these posts and think “oh!! I’ve never thought of that! How fun and exciting, I’ll go do these activities now!”
Anyways, if you have any “things for therians to do” suggestions I’d love to see them in reblogs
#play games with your theriotype as your player#like animal jam or Webkinz#make a Pinterest board with things that remind you of your theriotype#lay on your bed but feeling curled up and cozy because of how soft human beds are#if you can sew make plushies that look like you#make some food associated with your theriotype (i like eggs personally)#watch a nature documentary about your type#hang out with other creatures

I work at a camp for trans kids and the amount of therian overlap is insane lmao. Like the majority of the kids in my group were therians or alterhuman in some way. I also had one kid say “it’s so cool to see a therian adult” :3
I love being someone these kids can look up to, just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean you can’t have fun and express yourself how ever you want!

I told one of our syskids about paleotherians.. and there's something you need to know before I continue. He is 6 years old, he holds a lot of our autistic symptoms including struggling to communicate and connect with people, somewhat because of his intense hyperfixation on his special interest.
Dinosaurs (and all prehistoric creatures) are his special interest. He gets sad that he can't pet a dinosaur. He has a dozen dinosaur plushies. He has a collection of plastic dinosaurs that he wants to give names but is scared he'll get their names wrong so they're all "dinosaur". He draws dinosaurs all the time and everything he buys is dinosaur themed. He can't leave the house without his favorite dinosaur hoodie. His dream is to own at least one fossil, because dinosaurs went extinct and he can't have one as a pet. He named himself "Dino" because he likes them so much.
So, I said to him, "You know the therians online? Some of them are dinosaur therians." Make no mistake, though. This boy heard very clearly "You can meet real dinosaurs, they live in Tumblr". He's thrilled, can't get over it. Real life modern day dinosaurs. It's his dream come true. He hasn't stopped humming and stimming since he's learned.
So please know a 6 year old mostly nonverbal boy out there who's life got exponentially better knowing you exist, wants to tell you that he loves you and that you're his favorite thing.
