something that will always bug me about the acotar fandom is the overall lack of empathy and understanding of nesta and elains experience with the cauldron.

"they are young, beautiful, rich and surrounded by hot men who want them, why are they so upset?" - are y'all being serious?

their bodies were boiled alive, skin literally felt like it was peeled from their bones, the cauldron violated their bodies and sa'd them. sexual assault.

the actual trauma of being violated aside, elain had a whole life in the mortal world. she was engaged and about to start a family. that was taken from her, and the man that she was in love with turned on her. she should just forget all about it because now she's surrounded by rich hot men?

nesta wanted to travel the world. no doubt she had big plans for herself, and that was stolen from her. her humanity, something she cherished, was stripped away from her. she should just not be deeply affected by it, because she's surrounded by rich hot men?

you guys center these men so eminently, to the point where basic empathy and understanding flies out the window for the female characters who don't immediately jump on board with them, and live your desired vicarious lifestyle, it's actually insane. centering fictional men to the point where you become a misogynist is insane. and what's worse is that a good 90% of you all, are women.

no, you would not jump headfirst into the cauldron. you would be deeply traumatised from having your body tortured, changed and assaulted. you would be deeply traumatised, damn near catatonic, for being taken away from your life, family and friends. please be serious.

Headcanon Gwynriel

Gwyn loves adventure books. Azriel has lived 500 hundred years of adventures with thousands of stories to tell.

Whenever either of them can’t sleep or when he visits her in the library Gwyn asks “tell me a story, Shadowsinger,” and Azriel tells one of the many stories of how he slayed an enemy, almost got killed retrieving an item for Rhys or exploring distant lands for a spy mission.

Gwyn listens with such enthrallment it’s as if she’s there with him in his memories.

Feyre Archeron is a warrior by necessity. She fights for survival out of necessity, not because she loves it. Feyre picks up her bow and arrow because its a matter of life and death and not because she harbored dreams of conquering cities or joining armies.

Of course she put that weapon down in favor of tranquility and peace the first chance she got. All Feyre ever wanted to do was paint in peace- she says that in the first few chapters in ACOTAR. She wanted her family to be safe so she could paint without worrying about the world.

I'm so tired of people coming for her for deciding to have a family or acting like there is something disgusting and foul about wanting to be a young mother. It's not a choice you'd make for yourself- thats valid. But its so in line with Feyre's character to want that.

In the midst of a looming war, Feyre doesn't want a baby. She has to be the warrior. She changed her mind once the war was done- after she watched Rhys die and thought they all might die, too- that's not some massive betrayal or weird retcon/authorial insert. That's just...Feyre...finally having some peace and realizing it was finally safe to start building the life she had always wanted.

Rereading parts of Queen of Nothing and when Cardan confesses his love and said "you probably guessed that already" really makes me want to read Cardans perspective even more.

Because the more you reread the more you see how much he clearly loves her and started taking his guards down around her.

Like when she came to him when she was released from the Undersea and he just pulled her to bed and held her.

The literal budding and blooming flowers when he said his vows and she said hers.

Fighting tooth and nail when Madoc came for her. Coming to get her and making her promise to be safe when he came for her at the war camp.

Like I could go on. And the entire time Jude was thinking what? He hates her and he is thinking he's wearing his heart on his sleeve and letting his feelings known
