oh chapter 4 snowgrave the horrific masterpiece you are

This post contains spoilers for Ch4 and discussions of topics that may be upsetting like SA. Proceed with caution.

The Snowgrave route is pretty definitively an allegory for sexual assault.

I am not saying SA occurred in canon. I am saying the events are a clear allegory.

In general, the route is about Noelle losing her bodily autonomy. Having her sense of control and self taken over by someone who doesn't care about her needs. And the non consensual romantic implications are there as early as chapter 2. You have to insist you and Noelle are "something else" than friends. You have to give her a ring, which could be compared to a wedding ring.

I feel like the "deflowering" visual for the Ch4 scene pretty much confirms this. Noelle is pricked by a thorn and is "deflowered", losing her innocence. Again, I don't believe SA occurred in canon, but rather that the route as a whole is an allegory for sexual assault, and an intentional one.

OSTS AU Kanako x Starlo. She thinks Starlo is safe because he saved her from Chujin, but he takes advantage of that. Starlo deludes himself into believing he's genuinely in love with her and Kanako buys it. Here's a drabble about that btw

Starlo’s touch is different from Chujin’s. That’s what Kanako tells herself. His touch is different, softer. More loving.

She ignores the fact that Chujin’s often felt the exact same. She ignores how his touch still makes her shiver sometimes, how she sometimes gets nightmares of Starlo dressing her up like a doll like her dad did, telling her how much like her mother she was.

When she can’t ignore it, she blames her dad. Starlo encourages her to. She convinces herself there’s something safer in his touch. Starlo sometimes tells her, “I’ll never hurt you, I promise. I’ll protect you.”

And she knows what he means. He would protect her from Chujin. He would never hurt her like Chujin. Kanako convinces herself into believing him. The feeling in her chest is love and she tells herself it’s fine to indulge it.

It’s fine to kiss him, to go out on dates no one else knew were dates. There’s a secrecy to it that excites some small part of her, and she focuses on it. It’s easier than focusing on every other feeling she has regarding this.
