I am really enjoying reading about the University of Wisconsin chancellor fired after the university discovered all the pornos he and his wife were making.
Generally when someone has a public sex scandal (or “scandal”) you get the standard “I am sorry. I regret it. It was a misjudgment on my part” but this guy is like “fuck you I didn’t do anything wrong. I didn’t violate conflict of interest clauses, you are violating my first amendment rights”

“And they get married and live happily ever after-“ no. No!!! House WOULD divorce Wilson for the alimony. He would serve Wilson at work. He would give Wilson head in the courthouse bathroom. He would buy drugs and sex toys with the money. He would charge Wilson for every single interaction thereon like an annoying, stalker-y overpriced hooker. And then they’d get married again.

One of the most stupid arguments I've heard against sex work is that "they wouldn't do it if it weren't for the money" when that's not exclusive to sex work, I doubt my best friends mom would work 2 jobs as a cleaning lady and as a store clerk if it weren't for the money, I doubt my dad would work fixing shit and carrying heavy stuff if it weren't for the money, I doubt my sister would work as a cleaning lady in a hotel if it weren't for the money, I doubt my brother in law would work with heavy machinery that could kill him with one mistake (which almost happened once btw) if it weren't for the money, many people wouldn't work the jobs they're working rn

”trans men are the weakest links of the trans community” my trans male friends and I have lived a lifetime of having our bodily autonomy stripped away to the point of sexual harassment. people talk about our bodies like everyone except us owns them because no one can handle the idea of precious female bodies being “mutilated” by gender affirming care. we are treated like traitors by women and as confused, silly girls by men. we have no spaces in which we belong because even the queer community tries to control our bodies. if we pass as men then we get ousted from queer-friendly spaces, and if we don’t pass as men we’re treated like cringe, theyfab trenders. everything we love is considered annoying. we’re called ugly and sad and “what a shame you guys are men haha”. We have to watch as society uses us as an excuse to ban gender affirming care for young people because our bodies belong to the government, because our bodies belong to our mothers, and because our anatomy is the only thing they see us as. And then we have to sit back as the trans community blames us for these bans. “All of these fake transtrenders are the reason they all hate us” when we’re busy having the women in our lives scrutinise our bodies to make sure we’re not being “infected” by the trans contagion. There’s no space we can belong in. No space that tries to make us feel welcome because either they treat us like women or they treat us like dangerous, cis men.
Every trans man I know has been sexually assaulted. Every trans man I know has been brought to suicide attempts, either due to their families or due to people online bullying them to death. Our struggles are constantly diminished and yet behind the scenes we’re fucking exhausted from fighting attacks from every single goddamn side. How fucking dare you call us weak. We’re going through fucking hell like every other goddamn trans person out there and our bodies are being abused and controlled and scrutinised every day of our fucking lives. Have you seen how TERFs talk about our bodies? How they lament us “mutilating” our breasts, our fertility, our anatomy, all in the name of feminism. That’s sexual fucking harassment, and it’s disgusting. But that’s all they fucking see us as. We’re not human, we’re just defected specimens. Cis women give themselves free passes to harass our bodies because they see us as “one of them”. One of them, but wrong. One of them, but need to be fixed. My mother regularly checks my chest to make sure I’m not trying to flatten it, and she can get away with it because “that’s what mothers do to their daughters.” Even when I’m not her daughter. Even when I’m screaming at the top of my lungs wanting to die because my body doesn’t belong to me. My body stopped belonging to me as soon as I came out as trans, because female empowerment doesn’t apply to me anymore. Female empowerment is now about “correcting” me, to restore my body back to its former glory, because only then was I worth something.
We are not weak. We are strong as fuck for dealing with the shit we have to deal with. And the worst part is, so much of the bullying comes from other trans men. We’ve been taught to hate ourselves so much that the only way to get ahead is to put down our own brothers and treat them in the way we’ve been treated.
There is no weak link of the community because we’re all dealing with absolute shit from all sides, but don’t you ever suggest that trans men are somehow the whiny babies who have nothing to complain about when we’re constantly holding back from screaming our guts out because there’s nothing else we can do.

getting lou’s (not legally) therapy sessions at the same time as cloudward ho is crazy because like. lou playing monty is so genuine and thoughtful. monty puts so much into everything he says and does. even in his humor, he considers each and every movement. meanwhile, therapy!lou is also calculated but in a way that’s meant to look anti-calculated. he’s brash and loud and annoying and careless. he’s the opposite of monty. god lou wilson is so talented and intelligent i’m obsessed with him

it baffles me how some people in the military are surprised they're going to the middle east. You signed up to go to the middle east to commit war crimes job, what did you expect?
#If only there were years of history to inform you what the job entailed#If they cared about human rights they'd defect#The rise in propaganda and people falling for it is terrifying#I get the reasons why someone might fall for propaganda and enlist#I've been thinking about rehabilitative justice and how it would apply to the military#And I think a lot of it would have to be getting them to unlearn the propaganda and brainwash#And confront what they actually did#No more hiding behind the identity of protecting your country when you willingly worked for an industry built on killing innocent people#Do I feel bad for people who fell for propaganda? Yeah#But that doesn't mean they shouldn't be helpful accountable for their actions#Especially when the info was out there

Non passing trans men don't benefit from misogyny whatsoever, besides possibly on the internet. If they are seen as a woman in someone's eyes, especially legally, they do not benefit from it. If you are not seen as a man by society, regardless of if you are or not, you do not benefit from misogyny.
It's that fuckin simple.
#I dont even think cis men benefit from a misogynist society#It just harms them in different ways#And then its of course more complicated when different identies intersect#Disabled men don't benefit from a misogynist society when they are denied being seen as masculine#I don't think men of color who are seen as violent benefit from a misogynist society#You'll never be able to make a blanket statement about such a complicated and nuanced issue

Bystander Intervention Training
so, the US just attacked Iran, and that is fucking terrible. Something we all need to think about right now is how we can stop the harassment and violence against Muslims and Arabs in the US that got so much worse in the early 2000s from happening again to people now.
To that end, I wanted to share some resources on Bystander Intervention. One of the biggest things I learned from training like this is that there are many ways to intervene, and they don't all involve putting yourself in front of the person who may harm you or others. It's ok if you feel intimidated by that because there are more ways to help! And once you do the training, it might not be so scary.
Right to Be has Bystander trainings based on the 5Ds of Bystander Intervention (Distract, Delegate, Document, Delay, and Direct). The trainings are free!! sign up here.
I took one of their trainings a few years ago (when the org was called Hollaback!) and it was really very good, they have trainings at multiple levels and focused on various topics. They also partner with other orgs to focus on specific issues (like anti-AAPI harassment and with CAIR Chicago for anti-Muslim harassment, etc.).
Here are a few more resources:
APA Bystander Intervention Tip Sheet
RAINN Practicing Bystander Intervention
I think I'll sign up for one as a refresher.

i am seeing alot of feminist arguments lean into being very puritan and swerf adjacent though. Like some women find empowerment in choosing a more submissive role in sex, pushing back against women making sexual choices for themselves is going back to the early waves of feminism
my thoughts on the sabrina carpenter thing are that people acting like it's insane need to stop clutching their pearls and be serious and also. i don't think it's wrong for people to critique the visuals of a very famous popstar from a feminist lens, or to have an issue with the whole thing. u know? cuz i will say my first thought when i saw it was "girl get up 🙄"
