Fanfic is a free hobby.

It's one of the last few things we can have as a society that's free. You can engage, for free. People give you things (art, stories, etc), for free.

Don't buy into the consummerism just because it's everywhere else.

You don't have to consume everything you interact with. You don't have to use things, just because they exist.

You're allowed (still, for now), to have things that are enjoyable for free.

Do you realise how insane the world is? We don't have many places where we can just be, for free anymore, but ao3 is. Did you notice we don't have ads in ao3? We don't have pop ups? Where ELSE do we not have that?

Where else can you just go and not have to wait for a commercial to be over or for ads to be on the sidelines?

I don't think the younger people understand, but the whole of internet used to be like this. YouTubers would do Youtube for free, just because. You couldn't monetise your internet presence before.

Ao3 is like a little preserved corner of the internet where the old internet used to be, and it's being attacked by people who do not understand that free things are allowed to exist without judgment.

Please don't ruin this for us.

to me the best headcannon for post-war bkdk is them being completely codependent on each other. like there’s just some silent understanding that connects them now and no one questions it.

they’re put in the same hospital room. perhaps it’s not even a discussed decision by the doctors, they just know that in order for them to heal properly they need to be together. and it’s a clutter mess of too many machines, so many blankets and pillows from home, and a constant revolving door of visitors, but it’s just right.

i think katsuki wakes up first. it’s a curse and a blessing because he’s stuck grappling with everything and coming to terms with what happened, but then he looks over and sees izuku—sees him alive and breathing—and he believes that if both of them are here together then something has to turn out okay after this. he sits for hours thinking about how much he loves him and he much he needs to prove it to izuku.

but when izuku finally wakes up, he already knows. he doesn’t need katsuki to show his love any more than he already has. and they fall into a new normal—something they never discuss, because they just feel it so naturally. they sit beside each other, pinkies hooking as they walk, and end up always together on reconstruction workdays. as much as they are their own people, the world knows them as katsuki-and-izuku. always together, a package duo from now on.

when the embers finally die out (months later at this point), katsuki is the only one there to comfort him. not that other people wouldn’t want to be there, but izuku can’t stand to be around anyone else. there’s some deep, ancient grief in his chest that only katsuki can understand.

he holds izuku for hours, and then they go to train. because izuku’s mind is moving too fast for his body and he needs physical exertion to finally let himself sleep. and when they fight and izuku still holds him own (because he knows katsuki will never go easy on him) the loss feels a little more bearable.

this war is something they’ll never fully recover from. there is no going back to who they were before. and there are hard days where they’re both reeling from the trauma and clash, but inevitably they understand that there is no where they feel better than with each other. they of course have their other friends, but their relationship with each other (whether you want it to be platonic or romantic) is something unlike anything they have with their other friends. it’s an eternal understating that has never needed defining words. it’s just them. it’s always been them.

You just know that Kitty is going to become Mr. Moons matchmaker over the summer. She directs him to finding someone his age for a change. Min Ho doesn't understand their friendship but isn't surprised by it AT ALL.

She's also somehow part of the Moon family group chat, that SHE STARTED. He doesn't know how she got everyone's number, and he's too afraid to ask.

She's also put herself in charge of the baby shower for Joon Ho and his fiancé. She's also friends with all of the background dancers on tour has found SEVERAL of them matches.

Also, there are LOTS of places to make out backstage, and they definitely have utilized ALL of those spaces.

There's a cocky idol on the group that keeps flirting with Kitty and Min Ho just shows up and glares at them. Kitty is completely oblivious to this happening, but Joon Ho sees and teases his brother relentlessly.

They visit her great aunt periodically and her cousin, who have already decided Min Ho is their favorite.

Min Ho has gotten them matching skin care products, because, "You have to stop STEALING MINE, COVEY. I HAVE A ROUTINE."

They still spend their time bickering like an old married couple.

Pippin complains that he is hungry and Legolas just gives him a handful of grass. Pippin is so confused that he just takes it, and now Legolas tries to figure out what hobbits can eat by just giving them random shit, like

people who put all their energy into hating teresa annoy me a lot, tbh. of course, people can have their own opinions, but its when people go out of their way to rip on her at EVERY CHANCE they get without spending even a SECOND to try to understand her or put themselves in her shoes.

i highkey hate the way the movies portrayed her, but in them, she placed the wellbeing of the entire world above her own. she explicitly asked that her friends NOT be harmed-- and i think blaming HER for the harm that minho faced even more than janson or ava (the fully grown adults who hold the power) is silly and extremely misplaced. there wasn't really ANY good option in her shoes-- choose herself and her friends and let the world die around her, BECAUSE of her, or choose the world around her while letting her friends continue to suffer, also because of her. there is no winning for her. she wanted to help people-- she thought that if she made a deal with ava, she could help people while minimizing the harm to her friends. and once more to emphasize-- she is 16. she is a child, and i dont believe in the movies she even HAS 16 years of memories to help her make good decisions. she was told by WCKD that she could help people, and that is ultimately what she cared about the most. WCKD, and more specifically ava and janson, were the ones who lied to her, manipulated her, and misled her. and since the cure WAS possible in the movies, her actions were even more justified! it's so weird to me how people act like she was so heartless and like she purposely hurt people when we see time and time again that she cares DEEPLY for everyone. you'd have to watch the films with your eyes closed not to see it.

and in the books, (i only read half of tfc so bear with me if i'm missing info) she only betrayed thomas, she warned him beforehand, and she spent the entire rest of the series trying to make up for it to the point where she sacrificed herself to save him. thomas was her EVERYTHING. she betrayed him because she thought he'd die otherwise. she would do ANYTHING to avoid that-- she'd decieve him, she'd hit him, she'd sacrifice herself for him. not to mention, since her memories weren't swiped, she was still entirely under WICKED's thumb-- the YEARS, the DECADE they spent grooming her and manipulating her into trusting them, doing their bidding, the lies they told her, are still affecting her. she's still 16. she's still a child. once again, to blame her for her actions that she was specifically groomed into by WICKED, instead of WICKED itself, is extremely misguided and a little gross to me, honestly.

in the movies, teresa wanted to help as many people as she could even at the cost of her friends. in the books, teresa wanted nothing more than to keep her lover as safe as possible, even at the cost of his trust and any possibility of love between them. she's simulataneously selfish and selfless, kind and cruel. she's all too willing to give up her own wants in order to reach her ultimate end goal, all too willing to put people in harm's way to prevent any further pain. once you look at her for just a few seconds, if you try even an ounce to see her character for what it is, you'll see a child who was put in a position where she had to make a decision no child should ever have to make. no child should have to choose between their friends or the world. no child should have to choose between their lover and themself. and no child should be blamed for their actions that are a result of grooming enacted by a number of fully grown adults who understand fully what they're doing.

if you don't like her, again, that's okay!! she made bad decisions and she hurt people in the process. but before u start talking down on her, before u proclaim your hate at any chance you get, think for a second about how she could've ended up there. and dont insult people for liking her. because on tiktok, at least, people are really bad about that Dx

Regulus headcanon / black brothers angst:

Is it even that strange that Regulus started doing everything that their mother wanted him to?

Regulus wasn’t the one to take the punishment if he fucked up, his brother was. Sirius would make sure that he was the one to take all of Regulus’ beatings. Knowing that his brother was on the line if he didn’t do as they say, he would just listen to their parents.

Nothing was worse than seeing Sirius in pain knowing it was his fault.

So he listened. He kept his head down. He did as he was told. All for Sirius to start detesting him. All for Sirius to leave him. Sirius started hating him because Regulus would listen to them, because he didn’t act up. What a fucking juxtaposition right?

So when Sirius left, and Regulus could theoretically do as he pleased without getting his brother in trouble, he could’ve just started acting out. But he didn’t. Maybe he had forgotten how to. How to have his own mind and opinions. All forgotten.

So he continued to keep his head down and doing as he was told. And Sirius continued hating him.

You know how everyone has heard a slightly different version of the same Greek myth? Like there’s a version we’re Icarus falls in love with Apollo and there’s a version were he knows the wings aren’t gonna hold but keeps flying anyway and a version were he doesn’t hear his fathers warning. In one version of the story, Athena is punishing Medusa, in another she’s giving her a gift. There’s a story where Hades kidnaps Persephone and one where he helps her escape from her mother. All the same myths but told in different ways depending on who tells them and to whom. Slightly different morals to gain from them but always the same basic concept.

And I just think it’s so fitting that the same is happening with the pjo show. Details change! In this version, Annabeth’s dad loves her from the beginning. In this version, they enter Medusa’s house knowing who she is. And this changes the meaning to reflect the time in which the story is told, and the people who tell it. Myths are meant to be retold again and again, thats the beauty of them. It doesn’t mean that one version is better than the other. And I love that Rick Riordan said I’ve told this story before, but what do I want to say this time? And he squeezes so much meaning into it!
