Social Media and Its Impact On Society
My thoughts about social media and the impact that it has on society is that in the professional world, social media is used as a platform to network with other companies to gain new partnerships. Professionally it is also used to advertise businesses and provide information or incentive information to draw in clients or new business partners. Instagram, Facebook, and now Tik Tok has become a platform for advertisement for businesses. I have seen these social media outlets used by many companies and independent business owners to advertise their businesses by posting commercials and have them scheduled to post automatically daily.
Personal use of social media in society has its positives as well as negatives. There are those people who use social media as a way of retaliation and to cause problems via the internet. But then there are those who use social media to blog, locate family, friends, classmates, and many others. Facebook allows people to post daily about what’s going on throughout their day. They post about things and events that happens in their lives. Sharing pictures of their families and friends, special occasions, and other family events.
These different types of communications differ because of how each are used. The professional side of social media use most of the time is for the positive. Although there are times when business may get a bit testy during their posts and advertisements. It may be an issue where customer service was in question and they were trying to clear it up. And there are times when all the different businesses come together and advertise for each other. The personal use of social media can also be a way of advertisement for themselves. Social media has also become an avenue for high crime traffic as well. Videos of crime and confessions are posted to social media and are immediately shared until it reaches the police, and they have it removed. Social media has become a way of life for many people all over the world. It has also become a way for politicians to get their information across the world.

Relations of Mass Media
Communication between people using technology was unsuccessful in this instance because the mode of communication was the use of newspapers, which was written communication. The use of technology was not an option in this article. The authors used articles of newspapers to conduct their research. I personally get my news information by watching the news on television, alerts to my phone, and through the internet. I no longer receive the newspaper. The newspaper is online now, so there’s not a need to have it in hand. Mobile tools have affected communication to a point where no one verbally talk anymore. Everything is spoken through text messages or emails. I’m a bit old fashioned, I prefer physically speaking to someone to provide information so that what I’ve said is understood and my words are clear. I like to make sure that the person that I am speaking to has a clear understanding once we are done with our conversation. Often written messages can be misunderstood due to context that certain words are used in. I also listen to the radio for news information.
Shifting away from old media and newspapers has taken away the ability for the elderly who do not use the internet to be able to get the news information that they would like to have daily, outside of watching the news on television. Mobile technology has affected the consumption of news because now, hardly no one reads anymore unless it’s on the internet. Technology has changed the world and the way that we consume information. No longer does anyone go the local libraries to get research information. We now rely on the internet and online libraries to do our research. There are no more dictionaries that really forced us to read, now technology has set up so that we now have online dictionaries, thesaurus, and all other forms of research. Gone are the days when we had to write research papers by hand, now we can use the computer and the information that we use will basically write the paper for us, just by plugging in the information that we found online.
