Since the casting for Marius was announced, I have seen two posts talking about how the actor is perfect for the role because he is ”ugly” and ”repulsive”. To be absolutely clear - I do not share these opinions. One post commented how a face like that would make a child sex slave want to stay in a brothel rather than leave with the man wearing it. Others agreed and elaborated in the comment section.
How do people find this way of talking about another human being okay? I get that actors are often cast partially because they fit an aesthetic vision, but I find this language distasteful and disturbing. Do people even realise how horrible the things they write sound when spoken out loud? (Reading things aloud before posting is a good way of checking oneself, by the way. If it sounds shitty when spoken, it’s also shitty in written form.) Imagine being told that people - children - would rather be repeatedly raped than look at you.
It’s also problematic as hell to be happy about someone who isn’t conventionally attractive getting a role that one considers unpleasant or evil because it ”matches the character”. It perpetuates crappy stereotypes about appearance reflecting someone’s ethics, morals and personality.
I think Christopher Heyerdahl will be great, because he will make a fantastic holier-than-thou, self justifying, ancient Roman renaissance man with a superiority complex, doing non-stop interesting moral gymnastics.
Everyone, kindly behave.
(Picture because it makes things more visible, and because it was fun finger painting an appalled Nosferatu, The Scream style.)

Literally don't even care if Armand is the villain for the season, I'm still going to love him and root for him and all that other shit because it's okay and fine to like fictional villains because it's not real. You must know this at all times.

a lot of people write in the tags on my posts like “ohh your armand drawings are so cute but disclaimer i DONT support his heinous crimes” so i just wanted to clarify that i agree with every decision he’s ever made including all of the murder. and i think we should give him a gun and make him president
#i really cant find it in my heart to be upset with him#and he kept Louis alive at the low low price of memory alteration
