"As you grow, people will expect you to be strong in times of hardships. They expect you to show strength when dealing with difficult experiences as if showing weakness means immaturity. So you try to meet those expectations by acting that it doesn't bother you when it actually does. You try to display that you're getting your life together. You try to look so strong when deep within, all the emotions you're carrying are making it hard for you to breathe. But, why do we torment ourselves with these expectations?
Darling, if it hurts, cry your heart out. If you feel like there's a sharp knife stuck in your throat, cry it out. Free your voice and scream as loud as you want. Stop faking that strength, stop forcing yourself. You don't have to hold the pain in. Unleash your tears, let them flow and heal you."

She has two faces.
One face that she shows the world, loved ones, and in public.
The smiling one.
The happy, friendly, and talkative one.
The confident one full of laughter and positivity.
The face that everyone is used to.
The second face is the real face.
The one she tries not to show anyone.
The face behind closed doors, when she's alone away from the world, in the security of her own emotions that she doesn't want to show anyone else or have to explain them.
It's exhausting trying to look happy and like nothing is bothering you.
The face that stares off at nothing or patterns on the floor or drapes.
The face that cries in the shower, in bed, car rides alone, cries sitting on the couch, or doing things around for house.
The sad face that stares back at her in the mirror and looks nothing like she used to be.
Well to her anyway. Others say she looks the same. The face that looks strong to the people she knows, but is really just shards of broken glass inside.
Yes, the girl that was there for everyone, and strong for others...is now split into two.
Two faces, one broken spirit.
She can't bear the losses.
It feels like a chapter of a wonderful book closed never to be open again.
All she has are memories and visions in her head that she plays over and over.
Nothing is the same to her.
Everything is different. She can't cope with daily life, her Doctor said. So she writes to help herself, and she has her two faces.
What's funny is, the sad face is the face worth a thousand words underneath in the depths of complexity.
While the happy face full of laughter, love, positiveness, and fun...is a straight shooter."-

“You must let go of the idea that healing means going back to the person you were before the event that broke you. Many of us get so stuck on what we lost—and usually what we lost is not of monetary value. It could be years of our lives. It could be our innocence. It could be our self-confidence, our hope, our positive outlook. We get so focused on regaining what we lost because, to us, doing so is an indication we’re on the right path. We get so focused on becoming the person we were before, but that’s like trying to fit into a shell you’ve outgrown. The person you were is familiar. But do you see what direction you need to take to reach that person? It’s in the past. It’s behind you.” Pg. 107 in Welcome Home ❤️

Life does not always go in a straight line. Things get messy and tangled, and our paths twist and turn in many directions. The right things happen at the wrong time, and opportunities get passed by. Somethings happen that we cannot understand in the moment no matter how badly we want an answer. And some things we wish would happen just never do. Life can be a little messy, but that does not mean that it cannot be wonderful too.
Because even in the messiness, even in the mistakes and missed chances, even in the midst of not knowing what to do, or where to turn, there are still so many beautiful moments. There is still love and joy and light. There is still laughter and kindness. So maybe life is messy. But maybe, it does not need to be anything else. Maybe it is in all the messiness that we can see all of the things that matter most of all.

“The kindest people are not born that way, they are made. They are the souls that have experienced so much at the hands of life, they are the ones who have dug themselves out of the dark, who have fought to turn every loss into a lesson. The kindest people do not just exist - they choose to soften where circumstance has tried to harden them, they choose to believe in goodness, because they have seen firsthand why compassion is so necessary. They have seen firsthand why tenderness is so important in this world.” - Bianca Sparacino

We have to stop relying on how we feel.
Life’s not always easy. Anyone could say that much for certain. There’ll be days when you’ll feel on top of the world, and there’ll be days when you can hardly even find the strength to pray. There’ll be days when you’ll feel God’s presence everywhere and all around you, and there’ll be days when you’ll feel completely alone. You’ll laugh and you’ll cry. You’ll rise and you’ll stumble. You’ll rejoice and you’ll despair. That’s it. That’s life. All in all, change is inevitable.
The one thing that never changes is the truth of the Bible. And that’s what you’ve got to rely on. That’s where all your dependence has to be.
Whether or not you can feel God’s presence, He’s always with you.
Whether or not you feel like God loves you, He always does.
And whether or not you feel like God will provide for you, He always will.
Feelings will lead you astray. But God’s truth? Never. In a world where things are constantly changing, choose to lean on the unchanging word of the Lord. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me. You are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.
Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,”
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to You.
(Verses from Psalm 139)
-
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12
In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:4-5

LORD God, teach us not to be anxious about anything. Teach us to let go of our worries and remember that nothing goes unnoticed to You. You care for us so much that even the small details of our lives, you know them all. May we always see you as a Father whom we can just run to. A Father whom we can just confidently ask for help. A Father whom we know will never forget taking care of His children. May this truth remain in us and bring peace to our anxious hearts. All these we pray, in Jesus’ name.

Look at the birds in the sky! They don't plant or harvest. They don't even store grain in barns. Yet your Father in heaven takes care of them. Aren't you worth much more than birds?

I know you have a lot of regrets. I know you hate yourself for making the wrong decisions. You envision your past self quite often and think that they would be disappointed in you. You assume your future self would be furious with you for all the choices that you are making today. I want you to know that you are not hated by different versions of yourself. You are growing, becoming. Your past self isn't disappointed in you. Instead they are sad that you had to go through so much alone. They know how much potential you have, how kind and soft you are. They know how you look when you smile with all your heart and what you are capable of becoming. Your future self isn't angry with you. Instead, they look at you with warmth and grief. They know that you tried every day, even when nothing seemed to change. They know how often you had terrible thoughts, how often you called yourself awful, how much you hated yourself. They know all of it, so they are proud that you kept going on. They know that you made wrong decisions but that was the best you could do at that time. You weren't trying to fail, you weren't deliberately trying to push yourself into a pitfall. So, I want you to know that your past self wants you to stop being disappointed in yourself. They want you to finally move on from the agony of losing the version of yourself that you were. And your future self wants you to know that even if it seems like you are standing still, you are still trying and that is all that matters. That is enough proof that you are moving forward, even if it's unrecognizable on most days. Your past and future self cares for you and wants you to be kind to yourself, no matter how remorseful you feel. I hope you remember that and forgive yourself for being so harsh. I hope you continue to try and become the version of yourself that you have been working so hard on.
Love.
