Months after a viral haka was performed in New Zealand parliament, the controversial bill that sparked it has now been defeated. The Treaty Principles bill sought to redefine the which is New Zealand's founding document. The bill was brought by ACT Party leader David Seymour, who believed the current interpretation of the treaty gave more rights to Māori people than non-Māori New Zealanders. After two years of debate and nationwide protest, the bill was voted down by all but one party.

.....sorry, but I think radfems are bringing up pro trans views and such too much in regard to neil gaiman. he raped at least two very young women, I don't think using it as a gotcha so much is respectful. It really sounds like the "and they're worried about drag queens?" thing genderists say whenever a conservative or priest or whoever get done for a sex crime. Politics is always relevant through a class lens, and so talking about it in an intelligent and critical way is fine, but just using it as a shot at the other side in arguments really makes me uncomfortable.
