because of the stupid subtitles, I think most people in the English fandom are not aware of the fact that Shang Chao actually has the same surname as Mr. Shang from Treeman (yes, his surname is also the same Shang character, but somehow they’ve translated it as Shand).
Whether or not they’re related is still up in the air because having the same surname despite not being blood relatives is common in China. But from a writing perspective, there’s noooo way this is just a coincidence, considering how both of them are in the hero management industry and the fact that Shang Chao has a lot of connections.
