He’d just gotten to Perfection Valley, and it was hot, way too hot to keep his leather jacket off, so he’d taken it off and tossed it into the passenger seat of his pickup truck. It was an old Chevrolet that he’d gotten cheap. Max had a lot of use for it when travelling across the country, made it easier to get his boxes with him, and he did have a bed cover for it. He had parked at the local Inn, and was out of the pickup, going to find shelter, especially when he saw the tornado. “Okay, this place better be safe.” He muttered, and grabbed his bag, and jacket, just in case, and headed inside.
It was another day of worrying about sharks in a tornado - and Ibrahim still through he was losing his mind. He had been outside walking back to the hotel after buying some groceries, when he looked up and saw the tornado heading right towards the town. “Well, fuck,” he grumbled, picking up the pace to get back to his room and lock himself up in hopes of being safe. He saw the other also heading to the hotel. “Better get in there fast,” he said. “Definitely don’t wanna be here when things start flying around and it gets closer to us.”

OPEN STARTER.
“I don’t know about you, but I think this whole flying shark thing is just a myth. Even if a tornado were to somehow pick up a few sharks, I doubt they’d survive long enough to be thrown at top speeds at a tiny little town in Nevada, right?”
“See, that’s exactly what I’ve been thinking, but also ... I don’t know. There’s been enough strange things happening to make me think otherwise.”

“Uh, what?” Brandon gave this guy a look as if he was the craziest person there and well, yeah, he was pretty sure the guy was. “Should I be worried about the drinks here?” Brandon picked up his drink and took a sip from it as if taste testing for something. “It tastes fine. So I’ll just ask what you’re drinking and make sure not to order it.” His head nodded from left to right as if weighing the decision, “Actually, I might want to have that if I’m saying stuff like sharks in a tornado.”
Ibrahim realized how nuts he probably sounded to this guy. He hadn’t seen him around the small town before, so of course he was giving him a strange look. “Uh ... no, the drinks are fine,” he said, clearing his throat. “I’m having a coors light, so I guess you can decide if you want it or not.” Ibrahim took another sip of his drink, trying to think of something sane to say, but also wanting to make sure that he knew there was something different about this place.

“I don’t see how anyone should be able to handle any of these things, it’s nuts!” Simon shook his head, near second-guessing his reason for settling down in this town of all places. “You think they could be… mutated or something? I doubt sharks are generally this vicious or at least I have heard otherwise.” He felt close to silly suggesting the sharks could be mutated of all things, but what other guesses where there? They lived in a desert for god’s sake.
“Yeah .. like when I say ‘handle,’ I mean ... it could make sense? I don’t know. Obviously there’s aliens out there somewhere, but it’s just ... “ Ibrahim sighed and shook his head. He really had no idea how to put any of his thoughts together at this point. “Mutated? I have no idea. There’s gotta be something different with them if they’re able to mostly survive outside of the ocean.”

“You know ... I could kind of handle the whole graboid thing with the giant worms and the aliens were alright, but sharks ... in a tornado?” Ibrahim shook his head. “I don’t know. How are they even alive in there?”

“This is going to sound insane but.. I think I just saw an actual shark, as in from the sea, 3 sets of sharp teeth, in that tornado.” he paused, “Am I concussed or was that real?”
“See, normally I’d say you sound pretty crazy, but I saw the exact same thing, so I’m assuming it’s all real,” he replied. “But, I really have no explanation for whatever is happening. Logically, it makes no sense.”

They opened the door, locking as they left, to see what was going on with the situation on by the other person in the lot.
“You need a jump? Heard there was a storm coming in on the radio, and I dunno if where we are is exactly the best place to be when it hits.” They took a look around.
“Actually, are you from here? Cause I was driving to Reno when all this talk about bad weather happened. So I don’t actually know what town I stopped in..”
“Yeah, that I for sure do,” he said, glad for the offer. “I definitely don’t want to be around here. Have you heard everything they’re saying about it on the radio? Definitely going to need to hide out indoors somewhere ... if that’s even safe.”
“Yeah, I moved here a couple months ago. You’re in Perfection Valley, pretty much the middle of nowhere.”

The car, initially going 70, slows to a stop as they hear the news play over the radio, interrupting their music. A storm, and a bad one. Val pulls into the parking lot of the nearest building, looking for people.
“Hello? Anyone here?”
Of course his jeep wouldn’t start, and of course he was going to end up stuck here as the storm approached again. This was exactly the last thing he wanted. Ibrahim hopped out to see if there was anything he could figure out to get his jeep started, and as he was about to open the hood, he heard a voice in the mostly empty lot. “Hello?” he replied. “Yeah, over here.”

He wanted at least one normal night, especially after all the wild things that had been happening around town. Ibrahim thought maybe something normal would make him feel like things were just that - normal. He’d invited Brenda to grab a bite to eat at the hotel’s restaurant. They’d just ordered their food, and he looked over at her. “I’m guessing Logan’s taking care of the kids tonight?” he asked. “I feel like that’s probably an obvious question seeing as how they’re not here.”

Another long day, and Ibrahim found himself in the Olde Saloon, a place he’d begun to visit quite often as there really wasn’t anywhere else to go in town. His mind was still blown by everything he’d seen in Perfection Valley over the past couple months, and he could’ve used a drink, but with the weird shark shit going on outside, he really didn’t want anything with alcohol in it. It seemed like the shark tornado thing had backed off into the desert for the present moment, and he hoped that it would stay away since the last thing he wanted was sharks flying from the sky. He already had a deep fear of sharks, and this certainly wasn’t helping. “Yeah, just a water for me,” Ibrahim said to the bartender. He glanced over at the other seated next to him. “Eh, what can I say? I’d rather be completely sober in case something horrible happens.”

It was the middle of the night, and Ibrahim knew he should be heading back to his hotel room soon. Here lately he was spending all of his time writing up reports and presentations on everything he’d seen in Perfection Valley, so he could let his bosses know what was happening in this little desert town. As he began putting away his things and preparing to leave, he heard the sound of sirens in the distance coming from the town. Ibrahim walked over to glance out one of the windows, wondering if he could see anything, but it was hard to see anything in the dark. He glanced around and saw Athena was still in the facility too. “Any idea what those sirens are for?” he asked, hoping maybe she knew. He’d spent all of his night with his nose in his research that he hadn’t thought about anything else except his work.

science project is over | Mal & Ibrahim
There had been word going around town that there was some weird creatures in Lake Placid, and of course Ibrahim’s job was to investigate everything and figure out what exactly was going on. He was certain it was only some fish and the locals were being a bit dramatic about what was happening. After spending the past few hours on the research boat, floating around the lake, Ibrahim hadn’t seen a single suspicious thing in the water. He was getting tired and about to call it quits for the day and return tomorrow, when he noticed some movement under the water. He finally thought that maybe there was finally going to be an answer to the questions. Leaning over the side of the boat, he looked into the water that was mostly clear, but he couldn’t see anything. He leaned back away when out of nowhere he saw a large creature jump out of the water and then splash back in. He quickly got up and walked to the side of the boat, still not seeing anything in the water, until he noticed movement heading towards the shore.
He followed it to the shore when the creature completely disappeared from his sight. He frowned and looked around in the water, not seeing anything. He didn’t want to give up just yet because, although he didn’t want to admit it, he didn’t recognize the creature he had seen for a brief moment. He wanted to figure out exactly what it was. Ibrahim docked the research boat and got out, walking along the dock and looking into the water, hoping to see any type of moment in the water.
As he walked, he noticed another person ahead of him, and he walked over to him. “Have you seen anything odd?” he asked. “Especially in the water.” Ibrahim crossed his arms over his chest and looked back towards the lake, hoping to see some strange movement in the water that wasn’t the typical small waves. Part of him was starting to wonder if he had simply imagined something jumped out of the water after spending hours seeing nothing.

“They sometimes have not-so fresh goods,” their face crinkles at the last carrot they had seen in Walter’s though. It’s kind of comical that a few weeks ago Charlie too was standing and staring at cans of chowder with the same disgruntled look. “I’d still go for cans. Try chucking some things together with hella spice to mask the taste of can-ness and bam you’ve got yourself some DIY curry.” Heavy sarcasm on the word curry.
“Definitely not super fresh food here. I bought fruit the other day and it was covered in mold a few hours later. Talk about a waste of my money,” he said, shaking his head. The food here was starting to get tiring, and he was ready to head home so he could go to the same markets that he knew. “Oh yeah, for sure some major DIY curry. I’m sure,” Ibrahim said, shaking his head at them. “I do have lots of spice though. That’s one of the most important things I brought with me here.”

Bobby brazenly stepped in front of the man, snatching a can of baked beans and feeling the heft of it in her hands before depositing it into her hand basket. “It’s just like camping!” Bob chirped, before looking up at the man and giving him a frown. “I never liked camping. No wifi, no plumbing. No fun.”
“Yeah, camping definitely is not my thing,” he said, looking over at her. “I went camping once when I was really young and I absolutely hated it. I’d definitely never want to do something like that again.” He shrugged and glanced around, hoping that some other food would catch his eye. “But, I guess I’ll just have to deal with this type of food for now. At least I’ve got plumbing and wifi though.”

“Canned food ain’t that bad. And there is fresh produce as well. And if you want fancy food, I can help you with that. I work at the Inn, in the restaurant.” Addison said and flashed the guy a smile. He was only in the market to get wine, for a stew he was making. He knew he probably couldn’t get the actual brand he wanted, but as long as it was a fruity red wine, it would work.
“See, I don’t know about that. I’m sure that it’s fine, but I’m used to way more options than what’s here,” he answered. “And I tend to cook my own food. I like knowing what’s in my food and how it’s cooked, which might be weird to some people.” Ibrahim shrugged and grabbed a few things off the shelf that he figured would be better than nothing. “Just one of the many things I need to get used to living around here.”

He stood in the nearly empty market, looking at the shelves that hadn’t been filled in what he could tell had been a while. For the most part, all he could see was canned goods and he grumbled to himself. He was still trying to get used to all of the strange things in this town that went against everything he believed in, but for right now, Ibrahim really just wanted to cook himself something good. Ever since moving here, his diet had completely changed. “Is there literally only canned food? Green beans?”
