“Okay, so you so didn’t just see me do that,” Eliza said, spotting the person across the room. “You absolutely didn’t see me flick the bird up at my father, got it?” she said, wringing the water from her hair as a bolt of lightning struck, causing her to jump. “Shit, I think he noticed, just a little bit.”

The bar was quiet for a Saturday night. There was the occasional wild patron and argument, but it mostly stayed at a quiet buzz. Cody sat at the bar, drinking a martini. He seemed relaxed, as if he was just sitting on his sofa at home. He was clearly comfortable in this environment. He made idle chatter with the bartender and patrons he’d met in passing before.

As his eyes scanned over the room, they settled onto a young couple in the corner. Their bodies radiated excited energy. They had to be college-aged, they seemed just happy to be inside the bar, enjoying their youth. They thought they were hidden in the shadows in the corner as they groped at each other, sharing their affections physically. Cody grinned, tapping the arm of the person beside him to get their attention. “Isn’t that beautiful?” He asked, his voice soft but deep. He gestured at the couple making out in the corner. “Two people, not afraid to express their desires for each other. That’s how it should be.”

The brunette blinked at the bush in front of her. It was not on fire and she didn’t know what to do. She had sort of learned how to put out her own fires but wasn’t actually sure how she had done that before. Someone walked by and she moved to stand in front of the flame on the bush so they couldn’t see it but ended up getting her sleeve caught on fire. “Shoot” she whispered trying to put the fire on her arm out.

It was late. Theodore was tired and not in the very best of moods. The library was closing very soon, and he knew that he had matter of minutes to get hold of a book that he had been dying to read.  In his mind, he had his whole weekend planned out - talking Darius for walks, cooking a fine dinner for himself, working a shift at the tattoo parlor and spending the rest of the time in his bed, with the said book as company. 

As always, the silent atmosphere of the library calmed him. The emptiness resonated well with his current frame of mind. With a clear goal in mind, he picked up his pace towards the shelf that held his book. And the moment he reached out, his hand touched someone else’s - hell no. “No. No, this is my book. Find something else to read.”

Margot shuffled her tarot cards, occasionally stopping to take a sip from the liquor in front of her. The whole atmosphere of the bar she was in was very appealing to her, everyone seemed either too drunk or too in their own heads to pay attention to the woman in all black with her tarot cards. She would every so often look around the bar for new faces, once or twice found someone interesting but didn’t bother starting a conversation, and simply smiled, as she did as her eyes came in contact with someone. Eye contact in a bar seemed a bit awkward and a smile only seemed to make it worse, but making new friends couldn’t hurt.

‘You know,’ he turned slightly to the other, taking the final sip from the drink in his hand, ‘When Hades spoke about an island that I would have to live on, I thought there would half-naked chicks running around than, you know,’ he gestured to the other, ‘more god-things.’ Sam scowled, turning his gaze into his empty cup, his brow further furrowing as he realised he was out of rum. ‘Any good places for a drink?’ He asked.
