In a language that contains words like devotion, passion, enthusiasm, love, fascination, obsession, etc., I can’t help but regret this tendency to cram all those meanings into "hyperfixation," a word which manages to pathologize and medicalize the act of having interests.

it's kinda comforting to me when my friends are a little annoying or longwinded or abrasive or tired and inarticulate, or they don't do the exact politest thing in every interaction, and stuff, because I know I'm sometimes annoying, or take up a more than my share of conversational space, or forget to ask them questions, etc etc, and... like, I'm always working to be nice to my friends and to get better and better at friend-ing, but it just makes me feel more human about it :}
anyway I love you friends plz know I'm not counting, in fact I feel great affection toward you even (especially) when conversations go less than Perfectly Ideal

i got bullied for being the anime obsessed class weaboo in middle school which did funny things to my brain because now whenever i make or order japanese food i feel the urge to add on 'not BECAUSE its japanese, i just like it' which is sort of an insane thing to want to clarify. like i'm imagining ordering a pizza and then adding on 'and also i'm normal about italians' quite frankly it opens more questions than it answers.

While it's true that mandatory identity verification will inevitably be leaked on a massive scale, the thing you need to understand when framing these arguments is that a lot of the folks in favour of such measures don't see that as a bad thing. Full de-anonymisation of the Internet is their explicit goal. Like, the actual objective here is for everyone to have a public record of everything they say and do – online or otherwise – linked to their government ID. The universal panopticon is the good ending as far as these people are concerned.

I just learned that beep baseball is a thing. It's where you can't see anything (the video I saw the athletes were all actually blind but it looked like some people had eye covers like you'd see someone wear to sleep to cover their eyes completely, so maybe it's also able to be played with blinders on, I don't know I literally just found out it existed at all 15 seconds ago) and the ball and bases make noise to be located. And I have never been so invested in baseball as I was for the 5 seconds I watched the players seeking the ball after it had been hit and running toward a base they also can't see (will they find it? who will grab it first? will they beat the other guy to finding his thing??). This seems like the funnest "people throw/whack/catch a ball" sport to spectate at that I've ever seen. Sports do NOT interest me usually (who can throw/hit/catch/run with a ball the best is... boring to me), but I apparently like watching people competitively find things together.
Are there leagues? is this televised? Does anyone here play this? Does anyone want to talk about their playing of it? Is anyone else excited humans invented another little ball game so more people could play ball games? What IS it about ball games humans like so much
