This is what happened to Bellroc a few seconds after a Halloween party (Y/n) and Skrael hosted:

Skrael is basically the first Akotari. Other Akotari are spirits he appointed to maintain the balance and guard places of colder climate from harm.

But there are so few Akotari left now because of climate change. Global warming has made them all grow ill, as all the ice and snow is melting and they're supposed to be ice spirits.

So be a pal; switch to greener energy sources. Clean up the environment and help reverse global warming. Protect the Akotari like they've done for you.

The Akotari

(anyone feel free to let me know if the name needs to be changed)

An ice spirit that takes on the form of a deer whose presence is considered an omen foretelling of how the year will go, either good or bad depending on the state the Akotari is spotted in. It has become unspoken tradition that an Akotari shows itself to humans at the beginning of the new year.

If the Akotari is healthy, it will be a good year. If they are sick, injured, or even dead (they can choose to remain an Akotari or let their soul be rebirthed as a different creature) then the seasons will be harsh.

Anyone please tell me if this is something in an existing culture. I like trying to come up with original mythos and I don't want to upset anyone.

Like I said, no more. We use ice deer as a more lighthearted replacement and out of respect for the culture.

PLEASE REMEMBER: do not use the term w*ndigo if you aren’t Native American/First Nations.  It’s an important part of some First Nations religions and cultures, and it is Not Great (read: really bad) to disrespect that.

I respect the culture so it looks like no more Wendigo!Skrael (I do have Native American blood but not enough to be considered one of them and not from that specific tribe either)
