Should You Opt for Six Sigma Green Belt Training?
The Six Sigma Green Belt is a level of training that will put you into an active role within a Six Sigma team. You will not be required to assume leadership positions, nor will you have the training to be able to. If you prefer leadership roles, you need to check out the Black Belt programs. If you are more of a team player, and have three years of work experience within the Six Sigma Green body of knowledge. The body of knowledge consists of concepts that are essential to Six Sigma, and that will offer all the insight that you need to test at the Green Belt level.
The body of knowledge starts with an overview of Six Sigma and the reasons that different companies use it. It then goes into breaking down the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve & Control) Process, explaining each step so that all Green Belts are familiar with the various processes and Six Sigma Methodology. Within all of these categories, there is specific and detailed information available that needs to be known, including the actual steps and details involved in a complete Six Sigma Process.
Six Sigma Green Belt programs are great for employees that want to be part of a team that's embarking on quality improvement projects. If you are an individual seeking Green Belt Certification, you will want to make sure that there is a purpose for your training. If your company needs a person of your skill level to do the job, then it's a good certification to seek. However, if your company has no need for another Six Sigma Green Belt, you will either need to consider changing careers or perhaps getting a different level of Six Sigma training.
It might occur to you that you should seek Black Belt or even Master Black Belt certification. However, if you're not a leadership-type person, this might not be right for you. These are the highest levels of Six Sigma Training, of course, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's right for you. Take the time to consider why you are seeking the training, what you intend to use it for, and how your skills will be utilized by your company or any company that you work with. If you are part of a team or want to be, Six Sigma Green Belt certification can be the perfect level of training for your needs.

Things a Six Sigma Green Belt Should Know
All of the 'Belts' play various roles in the Six Sigma project. Green Belts and Black Belts are allowed to commence, expand and lead projects in their functional areas.
Project Implementation
Green Belts are those employees who are trained to implement Six Sigma projects under the guidance of the Black Belts to achieve the desired goals. They carry out these activities along with their regular responsibilities. Green Belts spend around 25-50% percent of their time involved in the Six Sigma projects. They are aware of all the important activities that they have to carry out.
Tumblr media
They should be able to explain the importance of the y=f(x) formula to the business and the processes. They are trained in the various tools needed to carry out the data collection and for validating the measurement system. They are also well-trained on DMAIC methodology and statistics.
The Black Belt coach imparts detailed instructions on the statistics and creation of histograms and pareto diagrams. This experience is valuable, and their prowess with Six Sigma methods helps them in getting promotions and incentives within the organization.
Upper management also reviews the Six Sigma Green Belts' projects and provides the necessary feedback on developments and shortfalls in the project path.
Monitor Project Progress
Six Sigma Green Belts are selected by the management team to receive either Six Sigma online or classroom training, or a combination of both on Six Sigma methods, tools and techniques. However, the Six Sigma training they receive on these tools is generally less than what Black Belts receive. The Black Belts carry out cross-functional responsibilities.
Green Belts carry out the project for their own areas of operations. Each company has its own set of Six Sigma certification requirements, which may include the completion of Six Sigma online training, written or online exams and completion of a project. Green Belts may be given incentives by companies to complete a project or even Six Sigma certification.
However, another company most likely will not recognize the certification of one company. Some companies require one project to be carried out to maintain the certifications. They need to carry out meetings with Black Belt coaches to review the project progress and seek improvements.
Understanding Benefits
With the Green Belts training, they are able to understand the benefits and gains out of the project success. They understand the relevance of the project to make the processes easier and the overall effect of it on the team and the organization as a whole.
Timely completion of the Six Sigma project is necessary before the tollgate review. Green Belts have to plan properly and stay in control of the progress of the project. The project should be strictly based on data; if Green Belt has no knowledge of finance, the Green Belt project will give them an opportunity to learn it, know about the issues faced by management, and to quantify the benefits.
Carry Out Tests
Six Sigma Green Belts know that tools exist, though they may not be using them. They will be able to calculate the average and standard deviation from the set standards of the various metrics; however, they are business professionals and not quality controllers. They will be able to carry out statistical tests using software such as Minitab and JMP.
Tumblr media
Green Belts should be aware of the importance of preparing the Fishbone diagram to understand the basis of process defects. They will be able to help their bosses and co-workers by preventing defects. This will also help them in winning support for the Six Sigma project. Green Belts should be able to form a base for change with less resistance from co-workers, if they have shown visible improvements in the processes and the output.
Green Belts should start their projects only after top management commits to the necessary resources for improvement. They should share information with others above them, their co-workers and others who have a stake in the growth of the company.

How to Become a PRINCE2 Trainer
Becoming an Approved PRINCE2 Trainer and being sponsored by an Accredited Training Organisation means that you can provide accredited PRINCE2 training. The market for PRINCE2 training courses is large and appears to be growing - not only in the UK, but internationally too. Tens of thousands of candidates around the world take the PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner exams each year, and large numbers of them prepare for those exams by completing PRINCE2 courses. The PRINCE2 project management method is designed to be suitable for running any project in any industry, making it a popular choice for a very wide range of organisations.
Tumblr media
PRINCE2 trainer requirements
If you are aiming to qualify as an Approved PRINCE2 Trainer, you need to meet the following requirements:
A score of at least 66% in the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam
At least 2 years' experience of delivering training courses
At least 2 years' experience of project management (or having delivered at least 2 full PRINCE2 Foundation & Practitioner courses under the guidance of an existing Approved PRINCE2 Trainer)
You also need to find an Accredited Training Organisation that is willing to sponsor you to become an Approved PRINCE2 Trainer. Before agreeing to sponsorship, the ATO is likely to want to prove that you meet the above requirements. It is therefore a good idea to have your PRINCE2 Practitioner candidate number to hand and mention your plans to current or former colleagues who could provide references, if required.
Training the PRINCE2 trainer
After an ATO has agreed to sponsor you, you will complete a trainer sponsorship programme (often called 'PRINCE2 Train the Trainer'), which aims to help you develop and refine your PRINCE2 training skills. The programme may include giving presentations to existing trainers; conducting training sessions for delegates; familiarising yourself with course materials and any relevant computer software required to deliver a PRINCE2 course; discussions with existing trainers about how to improve your training style, and so on. Such activities are designed to prepare you for a formal assessment, during which you should demonstrate that you possess the ability to conduct successful PRINCE2 courses. As part of the formal assessment, you will be observed training delegates and also interviewed about your knowledge of PRINCE2. The assessor will present his/her findings to you, and then produce a written report. Based on your performance, the assessor will decide whether or not to recommend that you are awarded Approved PRINCE2 Trainer certification.
If you pass the assessment, you will be certified as an Approved PRINCE2 Trainer for 3 years, subject to yearly monitoring. Before the end of the certification period, you will be re-assessed in order to check whether or not you continue to conform to the standards expected of an Approved PRINCE2 Trainer. In addition, 3-5 years after you have passed the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam (and every 3-5 years subsequently), you will need to prove that your PRINCE2 knowledge is up-to-date by passing the PRINCE2 Re-registration exam with a score of at least 66%.
Tumblr media
Enjoy your PRINCE2 training career
While the role of an Approved PRINCE2 Trainer can be challenging, it also has the potential to be highly enjoyable and diverse. For example, you may have the opportunity to train in numerous locations, perhaps delivering PRINCE2 courses in Europe, Asia, Africa, or other regions. You will also have the satisfaction of knowing that your training equips people with a leading method of managing projects, which is designed to help organisations improve their ability to deliver successful projects on time, on budget, and on schedule in today's competitive business world.

PMP Simulation - Recommended Study for Passing PMP Exam
Preparing for your PMP certainly takes some dedicated study time. Learning the theory of the Project Management Body of Knowledge as well as understanding the practical application means a thorough reading and understanding of the PMBOK manual. Reading the PMBOK manual alone, however, will not guarantee a passing mark for the PMP examination.
Tumblr media
There are several PMP exam preparation tools and resources available commercially as well as some free resources on the internet.
When studying for the PMP certification, there is one study method that should be considered as part of your study regime and that is PMP simulation. PMP exam simulation software provides two distinct benefits in your study:
Familiarity with sample PMP questions.
This aspect of PMP simulation is highly valuable. PMP exam simulation software provides the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the multiple choice format of questions as well as having to select from more than one potential answer. This really develops your critical analysis skills.
Although it seems obvious, one of the keys to success in passing PMP test is reading and understanding the question as well as reading and understanding the available options. It is surprising how many mistakes are made by simply misreading or making assumptions about the questions. These are mistakes that could be eliminated by simply taking the time to understand the question and what it is asking for as well as fully comprehending the available option for the answer to the question. PMP exam simulators host a large number of PMP examination questions that will enable you to develop excellent familiarity with the PMP question format and excellent experience in applying your question comprehension and critical analysis skills to select the correct answer.
Opportunity to simulate exam conditions.
The other main benefit of PMP simulation, in addition to developing experience with the PMP examination questions is the opportunity to simulate PMP exam conditions. This includes the timing of the questions that is available and to some extent the heightened feeling of anxiety that you may experience in the exam situation.
With 200 questions to answer in a four hour period, it is imperative that your pmp study includes as aspect of practising the relatively fast pace required for answering the exam questions. PMP simulation provides the necessary experience of reading, synthesizing, analysing and responding in the short timeframe required, repetitively. PMP simulators will usually provide many hundreds of sample PMP examination questions as well as several PMP preparation exams.
Tumblr media
Studying for any examination requires work. Time dedicated to learning the required content. Studying for any certification should also include a component of study that is focused on the specific format of questions and which emulates the examination format and conditions. Study for the PMP qualification is no different and PMP simulation provides this opportunity to utilize PMP sample questions and practice them within the expected format and timing of the PMP exam. PMP exam simulation software is a highly recommended means of study that should be implemented as part of your PMP study regime.

Preparation of Study Plan for PMP Exam Certification tips
PMP Exam Study Plan
Preparing for the PMP exam is quite unlike what you did in school and college. Here the focus is not on memorization, but understanding the concepts, best practices, guidelines, and project management framework, as per PMI's PMBOK Guide (currently Fifth Edition since July 2013).
Most of the people I come across have heard about PMP from their friends or colleagues and are interested to gain the professional certification in Project Management.
However, they mostly lack the experience of project management. Most have worked on small projects, and may not have been in a Project Manager position for a significant amount of time. I have written previously about the eligibility criteria for the PMP Exam.
Further, they may have limited knowledge of all the project management knowledge areas, as not all are required for most small day to day projects. No wonder the casualty rate for first time PMP exam takers is so high.
So, when it comes to preparing for the PMP Exam, you need to have a plan that is specific, practical, time-bound and achievable. Without a good game plan, you may simply be overwhelmed by the sheer amount of work, or just run out of steam mid-way...
One good Study Plan for PMP that I often recommend to my students is as follows.
1. Quickly enroll in a PMP Exam Preparation Workshop in your city. You can most certainly find one, and you can look up our PMP Training Directory if you need assistance. PMI has local chapters in major cities in almost each country, so you can ask the local PMI chapter for assistance, recommendations or suggestions of upcoming PMP boot-camps.
These boot-camps may be 4 day or 5 day in length, are are quite intensive. Some companies even run them on weekends, so you don't have to take leave from your busy project schedule.
Another alternative to Classroom Training is to Study Online for your PMP Exam. Yes, you can do this now, and study at your own time and convenience. Using Online PMP Exam Preparation Classes, you can also get the 35 PDUs or Contact hours, and they are considered valid for the PMP Exam.
2. Assess the gap in your knowledge: After you've attended the PMP Exam Preparation training of usually 35 contact hours ( a pre-requisite of PMI before you can take the exam), you will realize how big is the gap in your knowledge and the PMI's project management framework.
You should ask questions such as:
* In which knowledge areas do I have the least knowledge?
* In which kind of organization types have I never worked at?
* What kind of HR theories do I follow, and which are new to me?
* What kind of professional and social ethics are the norm in my company and my country?
* Is there a significant difference in my understanding and the best practices?
With the answers, you will be able to assess the amount of study you need to do, and how close or far you are from the PMP Certification exam.
3. Filling up the PMP Certification Application Form: The next thing you should do is to fill up your PMP Certification application at the PMI website. It generally gets approved within a week, if not audited, and you can then straight away take the Code given to you to schedule your exam at the Prometric website.
In Singapore, there are now 2 Prometric centers, and it takes at least 6 to 8 weeks before you can get a free slot for the exam. This is a boon in disguise, because you DO need atleast 6-8 weeks of earnest study time, to fill the knowledge gap, and prepare for the PMP exam properly. After all, you do want to pass it in your first attempt. It isn't cheap and you are probably stealing time away from your family, so get it right the first time.
4. Firm up Your Study Plan in earnest: Once you know your PMP certification exam date, you can then work backwards to today, and calculate the amount of days you have left at hand. This is all you have now, so use it wisely.
A good study plan is to ensure you have enough time to read, understand, and try your hand at mock PMP exam questions.
Get the PMP Exam Preparation Books, and start reading. You can also start with the PMBOK Guide, but it not a very easy read, and is commonly known as the remedy to cure insomnia. If you can't sleep, start reading any chapter, and within a couple of pages, you might be fast asleep.
My recommendation is to read Rita Mulchahy's PMP Exam Prep Book, 6th Edition, which aligns to the PMBOK Guide Fourth edition. By the way, both books are easily available at Amazon or your nearest bookstore.
5. Suggested PMP Exam Study Plan:
Assuming that you have atlest 6 weeks before the exam, spend the time as follows
First Round of Basic Study - Rita's PMP Exam Prep Book
* 2 Days for Project Management Framework
* 18 Days for the 9 Knowledge Areas (2 days each)
* 2 Days for Professional & Social Responsibility
For each day of study, read the base material, and create a mind map or write the key points on 4 by 6 index cards. You must attempt a few mock exam questions from each knowledge area, as you finish reading it. This will give you an idea of the kind of questions that come in the PMP exam.
Second Round - Test the Knowledge
Now that you have done one full round, start every morning and spend 5 minutes drawing the 47 Project Management processes on a piece of paper - just like on the PMBOK guide. Initially it will be hard, but with daily practice, you will be able to make it very quickly.
The second thing you need to do daily is to write down the Earned Value Calculation Formaulae on a daily basis too. Soon you will be able to write them out quickly. Make this a habit, and it will prove to be of immense use in the exam.
* 2 Days to review the entire mind map or cards, and make sure you still remember the key concepts.
* 1 Day to do a full mock test of 200 questions. There are many free or paid tests available that you can use to access your level of understanding, speed of answering and depth of knowledge. I found this online test to be a very Good PMP Exam Simulator.
Third Round - Strengthening
* 10 Days to review the framework and 9 knowledge areas each from PMBOK Guide, Fourth Edition. Each day do 30-40 mock exam questions
* 1 Day to do another full mock test of 200 questions. You should see huge improvement from the past test, or else you need to identify the knowledge areas where you seem to score the least.
* 4 days - study only the weak knowledge areas again, and attempt to fill the gap in your knowledge.
These 3 stages alone take about 40 days, which is about 6 weeks.
Take Action - Write Down Your PMP Study Plan
Like everything else in life, Success is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. Go ahead, get up and take some action. Don't just keep reading post after post and get overwhelmed by the exam.
One of the best things we have seen that really works is to write your Study Plan, and then share it with your spouse, friends, and inform me. Once you share it with someone, you have shown your commitment, and you are more inclined to follow through. Your friends, spouse, and I will encourage you and make sure you have the time to study, and get the PMP Credential to boost your career options and credibility.
Ultimate Objective of this PMP Study Plan
You need to think differently to gain the PMI's perspective of answering questions, and learn how to think and act in the correct way, the best way, which aligns wth the PMI's way of thinking, to get the most out of any situation, and ace the PMP exam easily, on your first attempt, and be qualified, certified with PMP.
ICertGlobal offers Online PMP Exam Prep Training. Currently, we have students enrolled from  50+ different countries, including USA, Canada, UAE, India, Singapore, Saudi Arabia etc. It gives you the flexibility to study for the PMP Exam anytime, anywhere, at your own pace.
To date I have coached hundreds of students in face-to-face PMP Training Preparation classes and shared valuable
PMP resources.
After getting my PMPCredential, I often wondered how I could share my new found knowledge of passing the exam easily on my first attempt, and impart it to people struggling to get the PMP certification, but don't have a clue

Managing Successful Programs – an overview.
Quick rundown on what are key skills & expertise that helps to manage the programs successfully. First and the most important aspect is how well we connect with our customer and how soon we speak the language of our customer, which really helps to get the connect with customer and their stakeholders.
Business Context/Knowledge: The person who is in charge of the program should have the complete knowledge on the Customer Business in terms of revenue generation model, and their customer base etc.
Broader View/Vision: Scope of the program is much larger than the project and in most of the cases program contains more than one project stream in it. Hence it’s inevitable for the program manager to have the broader vision of the program that would help to streamline the projects in it.
Antedate Customer Needs/Solutions: We need to provide solution upfront before even customer identify the problem. Fierce market condition deprives the luxury of attention. Customers are not interested to wait anymore for wireframe. They instead ask for prototype for which they might prepare their business specifications.
Effective Communication: What do we mean by effective communication? Everyone communicates and people who communicate effectively influence the people with less time. Communication is not only speaking/presenting but also formal and informal mail communications and how effectively facilitates the meetings etc.
Stakeholder Management: Stakeholders are groups, organizations or individuals who can affect, get affected, or perceive themselves to be affected by a programme. The stakeholder response is critical as some may oppose and some support. So the threat can come from within and hence it’s important to have the buy-in of the stakeholders as some may stand to gain or lose, some may see the program as a threat or some will support. It cannot be a mixed bag. What about the human resources? They too can become stakeholders Resources given their competency and skill.
