Hailumi, quick drabble

As a scribe, it is unsurprising for AlHaitham to be knowledgeable of different quantities. From the simplest forms to the profound questions left by researchers, travelers and people from the past.

When a difficult question arises, people would turn to those whom they believe would have the answer. AlHaitham, on the other hand, believed that only the purest form of truth can be found in between the pages of text which survived through time. He believed that the strongest form of evidence can only be found within the archives. And unless it was not, he did not rely on the information that was often passed from one tongue to the other. Instead he carefully follows the trail and finds the root himself.

AlHaitham was logical and precise. He remains objective in most situations even if it would break many things in the process–trust, relationships and respect. "All of which would be served for a better cause" or so he'd claim. The Akademiya's infamous scribe was a perfect example of the saying "the end justifies the means".

Not many have come to terms nor condone his methods. Especially not the golden warrior who carried her heart in her sleeve.

Lumine, the rising star of Teyvat. Despite her sterling reputation, she merely became nothing but passing thought to the scribe until their encounter in the bustling port.

"Has anyone ever told you how much of an irksome bastard you are?"

"Irksome? A few. A bastard? Not quite."

Frustration lit her amber eyes and all he could do was silently watch them burn. Like a moth slowly attracted to the flames of a burning fire. And burn he did.

AlHaitham has always gravitated towards the unknown. To seek what lies beyond but never too far off the shore where humans tread. As a seeker of knowledge, he also knew when to cease his own greed.

Yet when exposed to an identity he could not wrap his mind around, a spark of curiosity comes to life. He tested the waters, pulling her strings and pushing her buttons in the smoothest and the most subtle way as a means to carefully gather information.

"I advise you not to stick your nose where it doesn't belong, scribe." The warning she gave him was devoid of her usual light-heartedness and life.

It meant he may have stepped over a landmine. Asking questions about her origins was not a topic she was quick nor comfortable to divulge. He couldn't help but wonder, what's there to hide behind such radiating light?

He was curious, oh so curious of the hero that everyone acknowledges and praises without a hint of hesitation. In all his time as a scribe– as a person who sought answers for the various mysteries which caught his eye.

Lumine was one of the questions left unanswered in his life.
