Go ahead and screenshot this as a hater post to hate me for but whenever people romanticize Rhaegar/Lyanna/Jon as a family, I’m thrilled he was actually raised by Ned with Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran, & Rickon.
This doesn’t apply to people who romanticize Lyanna & Jon as a family because I do that too 🫶
Just the idea of R&L being a happy family with Jon is actually infuriating when you remember that Rhaegar’s first family has to brutally die for that *dream to thrive* along with Lyanna’s brother and father.

Alys Rivers, the Woods witch💚
The inspiration for her dress comes from the Burgundian fashion of the XV century. It was definitely fun working on this and I feel like in the future I will take some more inspiration from this era!

And like, please, Rhaegar doesn't understand love. Rhaegar did what he did because he prioritized glory and prophecy over the safety and well-being of ALL of the people in his life. Elia, Lyanna, his own children. The way Rhaegar speaks about his own children is gross, and he can't bring himself to remove the rose-tinted glasses of prophecy to see them as innocent little beings who will grow to have their own hobbies and passions. Rhaegar saw a violent war in their future and romantized it. And he did this right in front of their mother, who nearly died twice during their births. Was it going to be different with Lyanna? I doubt it. Rhaegar thought he could have his cake and eat it too, that the entire realm would suddenly be accepting of his actions, and his constant rambling about a prophecy that he couldn't chill tf out about. Rhaegar is a warning to readers about the dangers of prophecy, about how people allow it to guide their every decision, and it ends up destroying them. He became consumed by it. Rhaegar's actions were not those of love but instead obsession.
You are stupid, you know that? 🤮
"What is honor compared to a woman's love"
"What is duty against feeling a newborn son in your arms
"This is the point of Rhaegar x Lyanna
It's not their fault Rhaegar chose Lyanna over Elia.
Jon will not hate his parents for it. He will understand this.
And you are a moron who not only missed the fundamental themes of the series but any sort of morality but short sighted selfishness.
Rhaegar loved his lady Lyanna.
And thousands died for it.
How many people need to suffer and die for your own personal happiness? One? Three? A whole kingdom? How about your own family?
Had Rhaegar decided he couldn't live with Lyanna so he decides to bar the door and burn his wife and children alive so he could be with her- would you call that an heroic act for true love?
I mean, you seemed convinced that Lyanna didn't care a whit about the murders of her father and brother, the deaths of thousands of her countrymen, or the Kingsguard killing men she has known from childhood and almost her own brother because of a promise to a dead man.
Seven help you, you can't end get the quote in context.
Maester Aemon was a man who choose service over power twice and didn't even get involved when his entire extended family was wiped out and went into exile.
He was counseling about the hard choices of the Night Watch, choosing the higher duties over personal desires- like wanting to abandon your post to go to war with your half brother to avenge your murdered father.
How do you fundamentally function to missing the entire point of Jon's character arc in order to romantize the worst version of his parents that you can possibly get?
