Keren did my very first review, and she’s a babe <3
Let’s talk about Ida Sofar .
She is person I know for a few years now . I know some things about her like : what she listens to , what she thinks about political situation around the globe , I know things which bothers her , so when I heard she is working on EP I was patiently ( or maybe not ) waiting for the music she will release …. I was a bit scared, I like her , she is powerful Woman , strong and intelligent Person and the thing which you want to happen less is to be dissapointed by such person …
But few days ago she finally releases the EP ! - Every second , every bit and the sound of which is thought out , worked out and carefully censored before brought to the public . I would like to emphasize what I’ve just said above- Every word , sound and bit is censored and thought out , which means - Artist cares for the public , she wanted us to understand her fully , she wants us to follow her so we won’t get lost in her ideas and in the end … She respects us as listeners – she gaves us The Art !
Few things I want to mention before you listen to the Ep are :
Track – Gold Men – which is multi-conceptual – it is Political , you can hear it in every part of the work - from the music to lyrics , but it can be also something you want to hear when you have fucking emotional break down - feeling you are ripped off as a person and you have nothing more to give .
Second : Music which is at a times tender , quiet , unnoticeable , which gives you full opportunity to follow the performer , concentrate on the words and voice , also which becomes poisonous and rough at a times , like it goes out of its own skin , like it can’t wait , it also has lots of things to say and you are exactly the one who has to listen to all of its notes , tones and pretensions .
Third : Ida’s voice – Ida’s voice as a tool , Ida’s voice as a weapon . Ida used knife put on the piano for her cover photo and I think the photo says it all – her voice during the EP changes , sometimes it is like the kitchen knife , you use it just to help yourself , to serve your needs and you almost forget of its sharpness , you forget you hold the weapon and it becomes the weapon , it cuts you , it becomes dangerous , it finds your unsecure parts , it makes your ears bleed and then it goes back to the beginning becoming helpful a kitchen knife , but don’t be so naive , as I mentioned politics above , don’t give the opportunity to anyone to fool you , knife is as dangerous as it is helpful . Note this for whole your life .
I am not going to talk a lot , I just want you to check her EP : “Mind” and to feel it , give it a chance to be your “kitchen knife “ and then to “cut your skin” , there are only two chances for you - you are going to love her or you are not ready for Ida yet .
