Keep me safe, tucked away snuggly in your back pocket, or filed somewhere into the depths of your mind. I hope you will store me away carefully before you begin to forget. I do not want to be left to catch dust, tossed onto the back burner without a second thought. Fold me up neatly, and put me in a box. Sealed shut with scotch tape, labelled “Fragile: Memories”; place me on your highest shelf. Somewhere out of your reach, because I think that seems fitting. We never saw eye-to-eye, and despite our close proximity we never were close enough; the thought of us, together, always seemed somewhat intangible. I was too busy dreaming to be grounded, and dreaming kept me high above that of your earthly grasp. Such is so of clouds and trees, and stars and diamonds. All I ask now, is to keep what bits you hold in the center of your palm, safe. Because even if you’ve never really caught me, I’ve always been yours. So please, keep me safe. You have pieces of me I do not think I will ever see again and I would appreciate if you could keep them safe until I am ready to be whole again.
