I saw a post about an anon saying it was embarrasing to have an ao3 account in your 30s (it's absolutely not), so I want to do a poll and see what the age range actually is.
#ok I refuse to believe the % right now because holy hell I've been reading fic for twenty years#so I know there's loads of writers out there older than 40#but also yay it's so good having writers of all ages#I'm going through a phase of media consumption (wow that sounds intellectual I really just mean telly watching)#where I'm really enjoying watching/reading middle aged protagonists a lot#I think it's just cool to have romantic leads who are in the 40s and 50s#with all the life that has happened to them#I'm not saying you have to be 50 to write a 50yo#anyway all hail gen x

#lucas north#oleg darsharvin#so it's hilarious that the last time I reblogged this was back in 2016 ffs#and I still haven't written the fic for this ep#I have three lucas fics on the go and none of them are the next in the series#but hey I've started writing after way too long#also I must be living under a rock#because richard armitage did an interview with the radio times A YEAR AGO and just casually came out#and I have ONLY JUST READ IT#what a time to be alive (especially for someone who's gen x) coming out casually to the radio times without any worries#and the best thing in the interview is him saying Lucas North is not 100% straight I mean OBVIOUSLY WE KNOW THAT#but it's so fucking glorious somehow to hear richard say that#especially as I am years deep in a ridiculous series that is all sparked by just one episode#where he has more sexual chemistry with oleg in 40 minutes than he does with anyone else in the entire series#ANYWAY yeah this 52 year old is really happy that one of her fave 52 year olds is chill and out because we fucking lived through the 80s#(all of us strangers has made me think a lot about these things recently)

More bar decor from Ray Kowalski's place - he has an old tabletop jukebox, a Seeburg Consolette. A fun detail: it's made in Chicago!
As I'm going through the stuff in Ray's apartment, the scale of his private bar set-up is starting to upset me. The four-person bar counter, the pool table lamp above it, the jukebox, the darts board, all the little pub/bar/diner paraphernalia - did the apartment have that bar counter and stools and lamp when he moved in, or did he go to a lot of effort to create this particular environment just for himself after his divorce so he could... invite some of his so many friends over for fun social nights? or sit by himself and drink/not drink without having to feel lonely and out of place in public...? Oh, Ray...
(Yeah, I'm on vacation doing the grand tour of the Kowalski residence, lol - there's a big post with lots and lots of pics coming up as soon as I get everything organized... I'm still stuck in the Character week of @ds30below! But this is all good reference material for anyone who writes/draws Fraser/Kowalski, so I'm prompting everyone to make use of these canon details in fic or art.)
