I drew EdenPro era Xero and Dimitri, so I had to draw the main girls too! I feel like if I revamped them, I’d make Murasaki Korean instead of Japanese—Yura Moon is a fitting name with similar sounds (thanks @mihlen for the KR help!). Maybe Mei could be South or Southeast Asian? She could use some melanin 💀

(Sidenote, I like how you can tell I stretched my hand between drawing these LMFAO)

Murasaki / Yura was a really fun character though—I don’t remember every detail, but she’s an amnesiac himbo with dog energy who optimistically goes with the flow despite her horrible luck. IIRC she meets Xero when they’re in their depressed drifter era (depressed cuz they thought they killed Dimitri and drifter cuz they breached containment and went rogue) and they become roommates through ridiculous happenstance.

I was going through old logs to answer a question for a friend, and ended up nostalgic for what I rediscovered/// So here’s Xero and Dimitri circa 2013 / 2014, revisited! I tried to translate their old personalities / stories into my current style without altering much of the base design.

A lot has changed since the 2010s, but a lot has stayed consistent at the same time—their palettes and general features, especially. 2014 was when I really solidified these two’s foundations; their story at the time is what directly lead to how Xero is currently written—their themes and personality—though I find it interesting how I got them there (at least that version of them) by making them lose everything LOL They went through the depression > nihilism > radical acceptance > existentialism pipeline and came out the enigmatic, provocative, and vaguely haunted sexyman they are today.

I ended up scrapping the tragic backstory by the next draft, since I thought the whole “blank-slate robot slowly learns to be a ‘person’ only to have their newfound capacity for love destroy them” schtick was too cliche, but it will always hold a special place in my heart. Cliche or not, it’s a classic for a reason ahaha. Maybe I’ll come back to it with Xero for a spin-off / AU!

A couple WIP writing snippets from April! Two different projects. I still like how they came out so I figured I’d share and finally live up to the artist and! writer designation I always put in my bios LOL

CW for the first excerpt: graphic gore (consensual but not safe or sane), sexual overtones. The second is SFW.

These were written on the anti-genAI programme Ellipsus! Its UI is gorgeous and functional, even including HTML, markdown, rich text, and direct-to-Ao3 export options. I highly recommend it as an alternative to Google Docs!
