The Last to Know - Part 3
The final, very fluffy, incredibly ridiculous, part of The Last to Know.
I'm dedicating this to @hancydrewfan, who sent the initial prompt that created this version of them. I hope you enjoy this friend!
-x-
Words: 4.2k
Warnings: Chapter 1 is rated M for references to smut, and the rest is just so fluffy it's almost silly. Some cursing. Pregnancy!
Read over on Ao3, or below the cut
Penelope knows she's overstepped as soon as she starts to think about it a bit more clearly, but it’s already too late.
She had strong armed Emily and Aaron into the idea of a baby shower. Emily initially turning her nose up at the whole thing, only changing her mind when Penelope told her about all the free stuff she’d get.
The whole thing had gotten away from her quicker than she meant it to. The gift she had bought for baby Hotchner was a top of the line stroller, costing her most of a month’s wages. And she was planning on decorating Emily and Aaron’s home with JJ’s help, the plan being for Aaron to get Emily out of the house one Sunday afternoon in the coming weeks so she could exact her plan.
Ultimately, Penelope blamed two things for her excitement getting away from her. One was the wistful look on Emily’s face one afternoon as she stroked her hand over her stomach, a comment about not knowing where to start with names because she didn’t know what she was having. Having decided early one that she was going to leave finding out if she had a son or a daughter growing beneath her skin until the day they were born.
The other thing Penelope blamed, the image of anticipatory excitement on her friend's face still in her mind, was that she was left largely unattended for two days. The rest of the team away on a case as Emily occasionally came into her office to see her, boredom at being grounded clear on her face.
It’s how Penelope finds herself hacking into a doctor’s office’s records late one night, tears of joy in her eyes as she reads that her friends are expecting a baby girl.
A day later, when Emily tells JJ she is looking forward to finding out what she is having on the day her baby is born, Penelope realises she’s made a mistake.
___
Keeping it a secret was harder than she thought it would be. The truth wanting to burst out of her every second.
She started to avoid Emily, sure that if she watched her lovingly run her hand over her bump one more time she’d tell her that she had a little girl in there, that she was having a daughter.
Penelope walks into the main bullpen, desperate for a coffee, and hangs back when she sees Aaron and Emily in the kitchen, hoping to avoid any general chit-chat until she has herself under some better control.
She looks over as Aaron walks over to Emily, his hand gentle at her lower back, the only show of affection he would allow in the bullpen, placing his own mug down on the kitchen counter as he stood next to his wife. She watches as Emily says something she can’t quite hear from where she is standing, her friend rolling her eyes as Aaron takes over making the cup of tea she had been making herself.
“I’d never say it to either of their faces because I like living,” JJ says, appearing at Penelope’s side and making her jump a little, “but they are adorable.”
“I know.” Penelope replies, smiling as Emily grabs Aaron’s hand to bring it to her bump, the Unit Chief briefly looking around as if someone was going to punish him for this small moment with his wife.
“That baby is going to be so well loved.” JJ says almost mindlessly, still taken aback by it sometimes, how her friends had finally ended up with the happiness they deserved.
“She’s so lucky.”
There's a pause, a moment of silence before JJ turns to look from the couple straight at her friend next to her. “She? The baby’s a girl?”
Penelope's eyes widen comically as she replays their conversation in their head. “I didn’t say that.”
“Yes you did,” JJ says, her smile widening, “you said she. They are having a girl? How do you know that?” She exclaims, and Penelope shushes her before she can get too loud, her hand on her arm, dragging her towards her office, a wide eyed look still on her face. “Oh no, Pen. What did you do?”
Penelope closes the door to her office, taking a second before she turns around and faces JJ, the other woman staring at her with her arms crossed and an eyebrow raised at her.
“Ok, I may have got a little carried away when planning the baby shower.” She clears her throat when JJ continues to stare at her, avoiding her eye contact. “And I may have hacked into Emily’s OBGYN’s computer system and looked up what they are having.”
“Pen.” JJ says, looking as outraged as Penelope expected.
“I know,” she exclaims walking past JJ and slumping down into her seat, “I got excited, and thought it would be cute. And there was no one around to stop me and the next thing I knew I was just looking at the file.”
JJ sighs and takes a seat next to Penelope, her eyebrow still raised and her lip quirked slightly in amusement.
“And your plan was to what? Tell them at the baby shower?”
“I’ve already ordered the cupcakes.”
JJ groans and covers her face with her hands. “I can’t believe you’ve dragged me into this.”
“I know it’s a bad idea, and I’ve gone back to the original plan of just giving them all the stuff we bought them.” Penelope says, looking at her friend. “Please don’t tell them, we only have to keep it a secret for another couple of months.”
“How am I supposed to look at my best friend and know she’s having a daughter and keep it from her?” JJ exclaims, blowing out a breath when she sees how upset Penelope seems. “Maybe just run these ideas past me in the future, ok?” She asks, her voice a little calmer, a smile on her face.
“Of course.” Penelope agrees quickly. “I promise.”
“Good.” JJ replies, unable to stop the smile spreading across her face. “So a girl, huh?” Penelope nods in response and JJ feels happiness spread in her chest, and she doesn’t know how she’s going to contain it for the next 8 weeks. “She’s going to be so loved.”
“Yeah,” Penelope says, smiling to herself, “Hotch is never going to let her date, especially if she comes out looking exactly like Em.”
JJ barks out a laugh, her hand coming to rest on Penelope’s arm. “If you think Emily isn’t going to be the most protective of the two of them you have another thing coming.”
___
Derek finds out, because Penelope, somehow, thinks he already knows.
They watch as Emily and Aaron leave his office at the end of the day, Emily not so subtly rolling her eyes at her husband as he takes her bag from her, slinging it over his shoulder with his own.
“That baby is going to be so cute,” Penelope says, proud of herself for managing to keep the term neutral, the practise she had been doing in her office all afternoon clearly working. “It’s going to have amazing hair.”
“My new baby girl,” Derek says, a small smile on his face, happiness for his friends still overwhelming him at times, something they deserved but always seemed slightly out of reach, “or baby b-”
“How do you know it’s a girl?” Penelope exclaims, trying to keep her voice down as Emily and Aaron disappear from view. “Did JJ tell you?”
“What, no, I was joking.” Derek says, frowning at her before his eyebrows raise to where his hairline should be. “How do you know?”
Penelope curses under her breath and stutters, realising she has, once again, told someone other than the parents of the little girl in question the secret she was failing to keep.
“Oh baby girl,” Derek sighs, “what did you do?”
___
Aaron and Spencer find out almost simultaneously, and it’s the first time in a long time Penelope briefly, genuinely, feared for her job security.
Despite her attempts to cancel the order it’s too late, and she suddenly has two dozen cupcakes in her office that she knows are stuffed full of pink frosting. She somehow successfully manages to get them past the main bullpen, Emily thankfully distracted by the files she had on her desk. She’d become like a bloodhound when it came to sugary treats during her pregnancy, one time even able to somehow know that Dave had apple strudel in his office, forcing the man to share it with her the second she strode up to his desk.
She’s debating how to get rid of them when Spencer walks into her office without knocking, anything he was going to ask about the case forgotten as soon as he saw the cakes.
“Oh cupcakes. Can I have one?”
“Yes, eat them. Eat them all.” She says, pushing the box over to him with such enthusiasm in her voice he looks at her warily.
“Is this a prank?” He asks, eyeing the cupcakes like they might explode in his face. “Derek swore he wouldn’t put laxatives in my food again after last time.”
“It’s not a prank.” Penelope reassures him, patting the seat next to hers and encouraging him to sit down. “I just don’t need them anymore.”
Spencer stares at her for a second before shrugging, sitting down next to her and grabbing one of the cupcakes, taking a big bite. She can’t help but smile when he immediately ends up with bright pink frosting on his face.
That smile is promptly replaced by abject fear when the door to her office opens again and Aaron walks in, already talking to her.
“Garcia, do you have the report for the Rooney case…” he drifts off as he looks at them, both Spencer and Penelope turning to look at him. He frowns as he looks back and forth between her, the frosting all over Spencer’s face, and the box of cupcakes that have ‘boy or girl’ written all over them in blue and pink icing.
She sees the moment it clicks, Aaron’s intelligence that she had always respected a curse for once, and his eyes snap back to hers.
“Garcia. Please don’t tell me this is how I’m finding out I’m having a daughter.”
The grimace on Penelope’s face tells him all he needs to know and he sighs.
“Wait, what?” Spencer asks, confused, and Penelope rolls her eyes, taking one of the napkins from the cake box and wiping it over his face, a little harder than necessary, and showing him the pink frosting on it as she pulls it away, immediately throwing it into the trash can beneath her desk. “It’s a girl?” He asks, turning to look at Aaron. “Congratulations, I thought you weren’t going to find out.”
“We weren’t.” Aaron deadpans, his stern gaze fixed on Penelope. “Emily wanted it to be a surprise.”
“I’m so sorry, Hotch. I got carried away when planning the baby shower and thought it would be sweet, and by the time my head caught up with me I was already looking at the report from Emily’s doctor.”
Aaron pinches the bridge of his nose. “Garcia, this violates so many-”
He’s cut off by the door opening, Emily’s voice interrupting him.
“Pen, have you seen Aar-” she stops mid sentence, smiling when she sees him, “oh there you are, I was just wondering if you wanted to go out for lunch.”
Aaron knew that really meant that she was hungry and he needed to take her out for lunch, and he turns and smiles at her, his only focus on getting her out of the room before she accidentally found out what they were having too.
“Of course, love. Let's go.”
“Oh cupcakes.” Emily says, making an attempt to reach past Aaron to grab one, but he stops her, his hand gentle on her arm, stopping her from seeing what was written on the top of them. She looks up at him, her eyebrows creased in confusion, and slight annoyance, as her husband stood between her and a snack. “What’s wrong?”
“They’re all expired.” Spencer says, a little too fast, drawing the attention of everyone in the room to him, making him very grateful Penelope had forcibly wiped all the frosting from his face only minutes before.
Emily’s eyebrows crease even further, looking between Aaron, Spencer and Penelope. “You have close to two dozen expired cupcakes in your office, Pen?”
“Yes.” She replies, smiling in a way she knows just confuses Emily further. “I was about to throw them out.”
“What is go-”
“Come on sweetheart,” Aaron says, his hand gentle at her elbow, cutting her off before she could ask any further questions, “how about I take you to that place you like just a couple blocks away. The one with the giant cinnamon rolls.”
The mention of food immediately distracts her, and he’s never been more grateful for the fact this stage in her pregnancy meant she was almost always hungry. He’d get up in the middle of the night to get her ice cream every night for the remainder of the pregnancy if it meant he managed to keep this secret from her, allow her the surprise he knew she so desperately wanted.
“Can I get two?” She asks, smiling up at him in a way they both knew always worked.
“You can have whatever you want, Em.” He leads her away from Penelope’s office, looking back at the two members of his team that remained there with a stern look on his face.
Penelope knew if the cupcakes weren’t gone by the time they got back she really would be fired.
___
Aaron had no idea how Dave found out, and if he was honest he frankly didn’t want to know.
He’s sitting in his office, considering how he should handle Penelope’s complete breach of privacy and misuse of bureau property, when he hears a clearing of a throat in the doorway. He looks up to see Dave standing here, leaning against the door frame with a shit eating grin on his face, his hands buried in his pockets.
“How can I help you Dave?” He asks, sighing as Dave’s smile widens.
“Nothing,” he says, shrugging as he walks further into Aaron’s office, “just wondering how you’re going to cope if she turns out exactly like Emily.”
Aaron frowns at him. “If who does?”
“Your daughter.” Dave says so casually it takes Aaron’s brain a second to catch up.
“How do you know that?” He replies the second he realises what he is talking about, keeping his voice low. “And be quiet, Emily doesn’t know, and she doesn’t want to either.”
“Oh Aaron, when will you learn that I know everything?”
Dave never admits that he overheard Derek and Anderson discussing it in the bathroom that morning.
___
Emily was having a weird week.
It all started with Penelope avoiding her, clearly making a point of not spending any one on one time with her at all. At first she was worried she was being paranoid, that the ever present pregnancy hormones were making her wary, putting her on edge.
But then JJ started acting out of character, a sheen to her eyes every time they spoke. Then Derek and Dave, and eventually even Spencer looking at her strangely.
It was driving her crazy.
The final straw came when Aaron started acting not like himself too. A sense of tension around him and the rest of the team, Penelope in particular seeming skittish around him.
The moment she decided she needed to say something was earlier that day when she found the rest of the team, Aaron included, in a meeting without her. All of them walked out sheepishly, apart from her husband who looked furious, avoiding eye contact with her.
She waits until they get home, Jack tucked up in bed after doing his homework and a family dinner. She’s standing up in the living room when Aaron comes back down the stairs, tidying away some of Jack’s things.
“I can do that, Em.” He says, his hand gentle at her back as she stands up straight, Jack’s toys in her hands that he takes from her. She looks at him, her eyes narrowing as he turns around, watching as he dumps the toys in the box Jack never put them away in.
“Are you keeping something from me?” She asks, and she sees the way he momentarily freezes before he turns back to look at her.
“What do you mean?” He asks, a clear attempt to keep his cool not working on her, and she immediately starts imagining all the worst case scenarios.
“Something is going on,” she says, tears he knows she will get mad at herself for gathering in her eyes, and it makes his heart ache, his desire to keep this from her fading by the second, her want for it to be a secret be damned. “What aren’t you telling me? Is someone leaving again? This is like JJ all over-”
“It’s a girl.” He interrupts, cutting her off before she can spiral any further. She stops, staring at him as if he has lost his mind, and he briefly wonders if he has.
“What are you talking about?” She asks, just as annoyed as she was before, her eyes boring into his.
“The baby,” he says softly, indicating towards her stomach, “it’s a girl.”
She is still looking at him like he’s crazy, her eyebrows furrowed as she places a hand on her bump. “What the fuck are you talking about? We don’t know that. And what does that have to do with everyone acting so strangely?”
Aaron sighs, his hand at her elbow as he gently guides her towards the couch, sitting down next to her, tangling their fingers together.
“Garcia, in an attempt to surprise us at the baby shower, looked at your OBGYN’s records and found out that the baby is a girl.”
Emily stares at him for a second, her mouth hanging open slightly in shock, until his words sink in, the hand she has on her belly pressing in a little deeper.
“She did what?”
“I know.” Aaron says, frustration at their well meaning friend building back up in his chest. “I’ve talked to her about it, I’m so sorry Em.”
“How did you find out?” She asks, her face not giving anything away, her eyebrows creased slightly as she looks at him.
Aaron sighs. “Before she realised it wasn’t a good idea to announce it to us she bought cupcakes filled with pink frosting. I walked in on Reid eating one of them.”
“The cupcakes yesterday!” Emily exclaims, something finally clicking into place, her fingers squeezing his. “Oh honey, I’m sorry you found out like that.”
“I’m sorry I couldn’t keep it a secret for longer than a day.” He says, scoffing at himself. “I know you didn’t want to find out until she’s born.”
She cups his cheek, makes him look up at her and the wide smile on her face surprises him.
“I’m not sorry,” she says, her smile getting wider, “was this what I wanted? No.” Her thumb traces his cheekbone. “But we’re having a little girl, Aaron. I’m so happy.”
Her joy is infectious, and it hits him that in the day or so he’d known about it he’d spent so much time trying to ensure it was kept a secret from her that he hadn’t allowed himself to enjoy the fact he was having a little girl. A mini Emily.
He smiles widely and leans forward to kiss her, his forehead against hers. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” She kisses him quickly before smiling at him again. “And I love you even more for trying to keep this a secret from me.”
“I know how much it meant to you.” He says, pulling away enough to settle back into the couch, Emily immediately snuggling into his side as best she could, both of their hands coming to rest on her stomach, their daughter moving beneath their palms.
“Does everyone else know?” She asks softly, any frustration at being the last person to know something about the person literally growing inside of her, briefly blocked out by her joy.
“Yes.” Aaron replies softly. “I swore them all to secrecy. Told them if you found out they’d all be doing paperwork until she graduates high school.”
Emily laughs, pressing her forehead against his chest as she tries to get closer to him, her bump stopping her from achieving it.
“You’re the best,” she says softly, her hand linking with his, “I hope you know that.”
He kisses the top of her head. “What do you want to do about Garcia?”
Emily chuckles wryly. “I’m sure I’ll come up with suitable revenge.”
___
Two months later
“This seems mean.” Aaron says, the smile on his face incongruent with his words, unable to stop grinning as he looked at his wife and their newborn daughter, the little girl curled up on her mother’s chest as she settled onto the couch, freshly home from the hospital.
“Well,” Emily replies, looking down at the little girl sleeping against her, happiness flooding through her despite her absolute exhaustion, “Pen maybe should have thought about that before she broke half a dozen privacy laws to break into my medical history.”
A knock on the door breaks through their conversation, and they exchange a smile as Aaron walks over to it to open in, letting Penelope in. The rest of the team were away on a case, meaning she was the only one around to come meet the newest Hotchner, which had perfectly worked out for what Emily had happened to do.
“Where is she,” she says by way of greeting, breezing past Aaron as if she hadn’t seen him, gasping when her eyes land on Emily and the baby, “oh, look at you.”
Aaron smiles and shakes his head as he closes the door, making his way back to the living room and sitting on Emily’s other side, supporting her as she leant back onto him, her body still sore.
“She’s so tiny.” Penelope says, her finger reaching out to touch the baby’s cheek.
“6lb 2oz.” Emily says, smiling down at her baby. “Although she didn’t feel small when she was coming out.” She looks up at Penelope. “Do you want to hold her?”
Penelope doesn’t need to be asked twice, gratefully taking the small infant into her own arms, Emily relaxing back into Aaron again, her hands almost twitching to snatch her baby back.
“What’s her name?” Penelope asks, looking back and forth between the baby and the new parents. “JJ said you swore her to secrecy.”
“Actually I swore everyone to secrecy.” Emily says, a wry smile on her face as Penelope’s eyes snap to hers. “The whole team knows.”
“What, I’m the last to know?” Penelope asks, looking scandalised.
“Well, it felt fitting that you were the last to know something.” Emily says, her eyebrow raised, having to force down a smile when Penelope’s eyes immediately widen, her cheeks flushing slightly.
“Once again, I would like to apologise profusely for that.”
“Noted.” Emily says dryly, feeling Aaron squeeze her slightly, unable to help herself smiling as she looks back at him, tilting her head so their eyes could meet for a second before she looks back at Penelope. “I also told everyone a completely different name in case it got back to you.”
“You’re a cruel woman, Emily Prentiss.” Penelope replies, a smile on her face despite her words, looking back down at the baby. “Your mommy is mean.”
“Her name is Ruth Penelope Hotchner.” Emily says, seeing the moment it registers, the way Penelope almost comically looks at her with wide eyes.
“What?” Her voice was thick, her throat immediately tight. “Please don’t tell me this is some kind of revenge and that you’re kidding, that’s so mean.”
“No,” Emily replies, shaking her head slightly, “not a joke. We thought it made sense,” she says, squeezing Aaron’s hand in hers, “you were the one who pushed us together initially, you were the first person to find out that she existed after me. And you’re an amazing friend. Why wouldn’t we want to name our daughter after you?”
Tears do fall on Penelope's cheeks, and she looks back down at the little girl she shared a name with.
“I don’t think I’ll ever be able to say how much that means.” She says, passing the baby back to Emily as she began to fuss, Ruth suddenly realising she was no longer in her mother’s arms.
Penelope watches the three of them for a moment, her friends, her family members, and their new baby and she doesn’t think her heart has ever felt so full.
“What did you tell the others her name is?” She asks eventually, not missing the mischievous smile on Emily’s face.
“Mostly variations on a theme,” she says, looking up at Penelope, “apart from Spencer, I had some fun with that one.”
“What did you tell him?”
“I told him we were calling her Quantico, because it’s where we met.”
Penelope laughs at that, immediately apologising when Ruth wakes up, squawking in the way that only a newborn could. She watches her friend, a natural at motherhood just like she knew she would be, calm the baby quickly, and Penelope feels her eyes well with tears again.
Life had never been so good.

Emily Prentiss
Emily Prentiss is her given name. The name her mother picked, the name that was screamed. “Emily Prentiss!” Her mother would shout to the empty air on cold nights in Italy. “Emily Prentiss,” the soft tones of her nanny’s voice would say, soothing her cries. “Oh, it’s just Emily Prentiss,” her neighbors would say when they heard loud shouting from the inside of the Ambassador’s house. “She’s done it again.”
Lauren Reynolds
Lauren Reynolds is dead. Lauren Reynolds is dead. Or is she?
”Lauren Reynolds,” Ian would say, her (fake) name sounding beautiful on his lips. “Oh, gosh, Lauren,” he begged when her kissed rained down on his body.
She became Lauren Reynolds. Emily Prentiss is dead.,
The day she was pulled out of the role of Lauren Reynolds is the day some of her soul died.
Lauren Reynolds is dead. And so is Emily Prentiss.
Agent Prentiss
Agent Prentiss is the name she took on after she lost a part of herself. She thought that maybe, just maybe, she could do some good to make up for the dead parts of her soul. Emily Prentiss and Lauren Reynolds are dead. All that is left is a shell of herself, of the girl who once was.
“Agent Prentiss, FBI,” she would say to mourning families. “Hello, I’m Agent Prentiss with the FBI.” People would nod, understanding this was not a person. This was a robot, a shell.,
Emily Prentiss is dead.
Lauren Reynolds is dead.
“What happened, Emily?” People would ask.
”Who?” She would reply. Then she would realize that they are talking about her, about Emily because to them, Emily isn’t dead.
Physically, Emily Prentiss is not dead.
She has just decided to cover up her iniquities with the word “agent”.
Em
”Em” is the name she took on when “Agent Prentiss” did its job. Finally, the name Emily meant something, it meant that she was redeemed. Her co-workers, her friends, called her Em. The people that loved her called her Em.
”Hey, Em, want to go grab dinner in our way back?” They ask. “Hey, Em, you good?”
To her, Em was just a named her friends gave her, an endearing term only for the people she loved. For the people who love her.
Soon, Aaron started calling her Em. Except they were were a lot more than friends. A “casual arrangement”, they called it.
Everything changed the day he called her “Emma”.
Emma
They we’re working in a particularly tough case the day he first called her “Emma”. Em-a-lee. Emma.
All of the victims eerily looked like Emily. Aaron was scared for her, thinking only of the worst. “Breathe, Aaron. It’s okay.” Emily told him with her hands on his shoulders.
“I’m trying, Emma. I’m trying but I can’t lose you.” Emma. It was beautiful. She loved it.
Only Aaron calls her Emma.
Emma was innocent and beautiful, like the love her and Aaron shared.
Emily Prentiss is not dead, and Emma belongs to Aaron.
Emmy
Of all of her names, Emmy had to be her favorite. It is the name Jack gave her, taking Em-a-lee to Em-mee. She thought it was the cutest thing to hear him shout “Emmy!” from across the room. She heard his tiny feet patter against the floor and within twenty seconds little Jack was all over her.
Jack would always want to help with cases. “Emmy, Emmy, can I help?”
After dating Aaron for two years, she was waiting for him to ask the big question. It was funny to her that Jack asked it first.
”Emmy,” he said one day. “Will you be my step-mommy? One of my friends at school had a step-mommy and I want you to be mine.”
Emily thought she would never stop crying after that.
And of course, when Aaron asked she said yes.
So that meant when Jack asked again, Emily Prentiss happily said yes.

Hey guys :)) Apollo (@multiverse-mxdness) here i’m super excited to be starting this 🏄🏻‍♂️🏄🏻‍♂️ i’ve been thinking about it for a while now, and in light of recent fandom happenings i thought now would be as great of a time as ever
now i’m sure you’re more than well aware of the hate that’s been over taking this fandom on here and many other platforms for months.
honestly i’m really tired of seeing so many wonderful creators get bugged down cause of the hate so i got an idea. i wanna use this space to spread kindness and wash out all the unnecessary hate that’s been plague this site for too long
so with this account you can send in positive shoutouts and thoughts aimed towards other people in the criminal minds community
for example:
❥ send in shout outs to friends or accounts your grateful for ♡
↳ why are you grateful for them
↳ did they help you settle in the fandom?
↳ did they help you when you needed it?
↳ do you love just seeing them on your dash
♡ so many reasons to be grateful for someone, let’s spread some love ♡
❥ send some love to the RPers of the community!!
↳ know a swag OC role player? let them know how much you enjoy and appreciate their effort to build a character from scratch and their contribution of ideas to story lines
↳ know a rad canon roleplayer? let them know how you enjoy their headcanons and how they interact with the story
those are just some examples there’s so many different options and ways you could send some love in about someone, and don’t worry you don’t have to single out just one person you appreciate, you can send multiple ones in at a time or individually!! you can also send it anonymously if you want ♡
[how can you help this account? by sending in shoutouts and reblogging this post to spread the word!!! ]

Dear Aaron,
I understand why you did what you did. I understand that you did it to protect me, but my question is why? Why would you want to protect me after I lied to you? All of you. But I hurt you, and you still want to protect me. I just don’t understand why you are still protecting me, but I guess that is what you do when you love someone. That is, if you still love me.

Love, Emily
Dear Aaron,
Once, I thought Paris was beautiful. I used to love the smell of the fresh bread baking, I loved the bright new flowers in the windowsills. Now it is all dull. I miss the team. I miss my life. I miss you. I miss Jack. I miss waking up on Sunday mornings to the scent of pancakes and coffee and the sound of Jack’s giggles. I miss falling asleep beside of you. I need you. But I hope you have moved on. I hope you don’t miss me, because I could never wish this pain on anyone else.

Love, Emily
Dear Emily,
I’m sorry I sent you away. I miss you so much. The team misses you too, but they don’t know you’re alive. Their grief is different than mine. They are mourning the loss of a life while I am mourning something I can never have back. Jack misses you too, but I told him you were on a secret mission. He wanted to help, of course.
I don’t know if you’ll ever be able to come back home. But if you do, just know I’m waiting to you. Forever and always.

Love, Aaron
Dear Aaron,
Have I ever told you about my time in Paris when I was young? I was eight, and it was just me and my mother. She bought be this beautiful necklace, called the “Paris Rose”. The gems were blue and a deep green. It would’ve matched perfectly with the ring you bought for me, the one I found in the velvet box in your desk drawer. I hope that someday, if I ever get to come home, you’ll ask me. I will wait for you. Forever and always.

Love, Emily
Dear Emily,
Jack asked how your mission was going. I didn’t know how to answer.
I’m going to Pakistan. I cant stay in Washington and act like everything is okay anymore. I miss you so much, Em. I need you to come home.
Love, Aaron
Dear Aaron,
I’m sorry I left.
Love, Emily
Dear Aaron,
I’m excited to be home. I was so excited to see you, to hug you, to kiss you. I’m glad we found Doyle and saved Declan. I’m so happy to see you. I missed you so, so much. Forever and always, right?
Love, Emily
Dear Emily,
You’re finally home. I can finally kiss you and tell you all of the things I thought I never would. But I feel like things are different this time, and it bothers me. We both have our scars, our nightmares. But can get through this together, right?
Love, Aaron
Dear Emily,
I was going to ask you to marry me. Then you left. I just want you to be happy, Em. And if that’s not with me… then I can just hope in my heart that maybe, just maybe, you would’ve said yes.
Love, Aaron
Dear Aaron,
I don’t know how you did this job. Making the decisions and hoping you did the right thing. I hope you and Jack are okay. I hope we can bring you guys home soon. I hope you find someone, and I hope you’re happy.
Also, I would’ve said yes.

thank you for saying something we are all screaming silently
Why artists and writers reblog their work multiple times:
They posted it late at night and want people to see it in the daytime
They want others to reblog it
They want more attention for it
THEY WANT OTHERS TO REBLOG IT
They have followers in different timezones and want everyone to get a chance to see it
THEY WANT OTHERS TO REBLOG IT
IF THEY REBLOG IT MULTIPLE TIMES, THEY’RE DOING IT BECAUSE THEY WANT ATTENTION FOR IT AND THEY’RE LIKELY NOT GETTING ENOUGH, SO THEY KEEP REBLOGGING IT IN THE HOPES THEY’LL GET SOME
BE A COOL BRO AND REBLOG
THEY’LL LOVE YOU FOREVER
