"I was already a target before so it doesn't really matter"
(Tags: "#but i will take compliments whenever i get them :)")
What an interesting insight into your motivations. Tell me, Jester, doesn't that just make you more of a target? Not just desired for who you used to be to them, something to subjugate and kill, but for what you are seen as. An out of control monster infecting others with its evil. For the record, I must say, I respect your tenure as the leader. Every man has a reason they do what they do, and I believe yours are better than crown's.

each and every one of us dreamons will have targets on our backs for the rest of our lives
all it takes is one dreamon hunter deciding that we're too dangerous to exist, or a host running to them thinking they will "solve" their problem for them - which could also get both host and dreamon killed
right or wrong, left or right, it doesn't matter. It happened. I can't change what Crown did. But i sure as hell ain't gonna let any more fucking hunters snuff us out"

"Virgil should write about magical ponies next"
(Tags: "#mostly gaming and readin #i also dabble in pissin people off")

I notice now the length of my story - I have to apologize for its size! In truth, you remind me of some of my students - and therefore, it's easy to go on and on, as some complain about my lessons. "Are you telling me at a self insert oc caused rome?"
(Tags: "#because that sounds about right")
Buonasera, giullare. Stai bene?
Pax tibi, giullare -🇮🇹
Good evening, Jester. Are you well? I sense I have maybe returned at a bad time. Perhaps another history lesson will help calm things down. I've told you the story of Romulus and Remus, yes? Well, another myth about Rome's founding goes something like this:
A man named Aeneas fled from the burning city of Troy, escaping the Greek army as it pillaged his home. A demigod, son of a trojan royal and the goddess Venus, he sailed the Mediterranean with his father and some companions until he reached Italy. There he met a king named Latinus, with whom he established an alliance. Aeneas then married his daughter, Lavinia. This joined the two groups, calling themselves the Latini. The goddess Juno, displeased with the Trojans' good fortune (for Troy had evoked her wrath: Paris did not choose her as the fairest goddess, Aeneas' descendants will destroy her favorite city Carthage, and Jupiter replaced her daughter Hebe with the trojan prince Ganymede as his cupbearer), stirred up anger in the heart of a nearby ruler, Turnus. Had Aeneas not arrived, Lavinia would have likely married him. With Juno's meddling, he rallies his people, and a war begins to brew.
Aeneas is able to ally with two other peoples, the Arcadians and the Tuscans. After a fierce battle, there is a brief armistice, but the peace does not last. Turnus, egged on by his divine sister Juturna (who in turn was egged on by Juno), breaks the truce. As the war rages on, Aeneas challenges Turnus to single combat- and as Turnus' strength fails him, Aeneas lands a devastating blow. Turnus begs for his life, which Aeneas nearly grants him; however, he sees that Turnus is wearing his friend Pallas' belt as a trophy, and kills him in a fit of rage. Thus ends the Aenid, the epic poem which recounts Aeneas' tale. From there, many believe that his descendants ruled the lands, eventually leading to the creation of Rome.
Of course, one must take this tale with a particular dose of skepticism- it was written by Virgil, a roman poet, in a time of great political and social turmoil and change. The Roman Republic had just fallen, and many romans had lost faith in the "greatness of Rome" as a result. However, under the new emperor Augustus Caesar, an era of prosperity and peace was beginning. You might know this time as Pax Romana or Pax Augusta- a roughly 200 years long golden age of relative peace and expansion of the Empire. The Aenid helped legitimize the rule of Julius Caesar (and therefore his adopted son Augustus), giving it a link to the great heroes of Greece by making Aeneas' son an ancestor of Julius Caesar. Aeneas also acts as an insert or parallel to Augustus, a man dedicated to his country and it's people rather than personal gain. While a fascinating legend, it's wise to remember that it was likely meant to be propaganda of sorts, and may have little genuine historical basis. Some even believe it was commissioned by Augustus, whom the author Virgil knew- it is said he read some chapters of the poem to the emperor and his family. Still, that does not remove it's value as a story, especially considering it's insight to the culture and beliefs at the time it was written. I encourage you to research this and make your own conclusions of course, but I'm always willing to share what I know. Pax tibi, Jester -🇮🇹
