there is no right or wrong way to be non binary, genderqueer, agender, or any other gender that rests outside of or some place in the middle of the gender binary, or complete lack of gender. you can present, dress, look and act however you want, no matter how "cis" or "binary" you may look to other people. it's not about them, it's about you. the amount of stress and pressure people place on non binary, genderqueer and other people who do not fit into a binary gender is asinine. you are not doing this for anyone but yourself, you do not have to appease other peoples' idea of what a non binary/etc. other person should be. keep on being yourself.

My thoughts on Sabrina Carpenter's new album covers & title.

Look, I get that it is supposed to satire, but she is not doing it right. Satire should be obvious that it is satire, and not just because it came from someone who posts satire. For example, articles from The Onion are clearly satire, and not just because they came from The Onion, but because they are so ridiculous and comical.

Her album cover, however, is not that. When I first saw it, I was disgusted and freaked out. It looks like she is dehumanizing herself, comparing herself to a dog and looking subserviant to a man. Wtf.

The ONLY way I kmow it is satire is because that is supposedly what she has been doing since her last album, and many of the commenters on her post said so. SHE HERSELF didn't even say it was satire. 🤦‍♀���

How is her album cover supposed to look like satire if it is just a slightly sanitized/less nsfw version of the same fetish crap that men post everyday? Istg if I looked thru the "forcefem" tag on this site I'd find the same shit, just with less clothes and different facial expressions. It's not satire just because she is doing it "ironically".

Do you wanna know what actual satire would be? Doing it differently. Maybe, taking it to its logical extremes (except there is probably already rule34 like that) or flipping the script. What if she was standing and holding a man's hair as he knelt, and the album was called "Woman's Best Friend"? It would obviously be satire then, since that is not a commonly used phrase but is based off of one. If she did that, I would know it is satire. It would be subversive. Different. Maybe even funny.

My point here is to not totally talk down Sabrina. I am still a fan of her music. Her music and music videos are a lot better at satire because there is just more to say when you have 3 minutes of words and images to get your point across. Like for example, her recent music video for Manchild. That video is clearly satire, mocking all the stupid men she has dated and herself for dating them. Like, the bridge where she says "I like my men all incompetent" is clearly sarcasm as it contradicts the rest of the song where she complains about her exes all being manchildren.

ANYONE comparing Sabrina carpenter to Megan thee stallion or any other black woman and saying that Sabrina carpenter flaunting her sexuality is the same as black woman has some Lana del ray shit going on. First of all Megan thee Stallion is a BLACK woman. She belongs to a group that has historically been repressed not just physically but sexually so her being proud about being sexual hits different than a petite blonde woman being a submissive bitch (not trying to be a slur that’s literally what sabrina is dressed as). the other thing is yes Megan Thee Stallion often has to deal with a lot of misogyny from men and no small part of that is of course how she looks but it’s also because she’s very clear SHES is in charge when she’s in the bedroom. It’s her pleasure and you maybe can cum if she feels like it. It’s not about the men ever. Not the case for miss sabrina. She very much embodies the ideals of her time and honestly of the 50s caricature she keeps ripping off. Hell even compare her to Madonna who shocked a nation by portraying Jesus and black and then making out with him. She still to this day is very sexual but the difference is she is being subversive. She is pushing the boundaries just by being a woman in her 60s who is very clearly sexual and not ashamed of it. Sabrina is not and that’s why people take issue with her cover. But honestly the real difference between Madonna and Megan versus Sabrina is that the two women portray themselves as just that-women. Adults who know what the hell they want. Calling me "conservative", a "prude", or a "purist" because I'm being rightfully critical of that damn Sabrina Carpenter album cover tells me more about your level of intelligence and your willingness to defend a woman no matter what. Your choice feminism is fucking frustrating and no progress can or will be made if this continues.

No, Sabrina Carpenter (or Sydney Sweeney for that matter) isn't setting feminism back decades by their actions and marketing tactics.

What is setting us back decades is the SAVE Act, republicans trying to end no-fault divorce, Roe v. Wade being overturned, abusive individuals being allowed to roam free with no consequences, and Adriana Smith—a woman in Atlanta who is BRAIN DEAD—being forced to carry her pregnancy to term even though there is no chance of her fetus ever having a normal life (if it even survives) because its mother is no longer alive.

And with everything I just said, Sabrina Carpenter's album cover pisses me off even more. When juxtaposed with this current administration, seeing a photo like that makes me sick. This is exactly type of shit men want to see. It makes her look like property, when we are not. I'm not attacking any woman's right to be sexual or kinky or whatever the fuck; I am just asking for y'all to READ THE DAMN ROOM.

I am allowed to criticize our government for making dangerous decisions, and I am also allowed to criticize HUMAN FUCKING BEINGS for making dangerous decisions. Your feminism is rooted in protecting women from any kind of criticism. My feminism (and the actual definition) is about equality and being able to express myself and exist without fear of being hurt by another person. We deserve rights, all of us.

But for the love of God, white women specifically, get your heads out of your asses and stop coddling a 26 year old white woman while simultaneously trying to gaslight the rest of us into thinking that what we saw is supposed to be funny. Art is subjective. This isn't satirical, it isn't ironic.
