He's perfect. He makes a very interesting point about how composers are sort of uniquely expected to recreate their work live in front of audiences and forced to be performers while other creative works, books, films, paintings are allowed to stand on their own, but he does so with his abundant charm and rapier wit. He has a habit of making sure to hit all of his talking points whether they are relevant to the questions posed or not, a thing he learned to do after decades of being asked the same five questions regardless of what he was actually aiming to promote or discuss. It feels very prescient, what he said about nostalgia and living for today and tomorrow, to sincerely and spiritedly talk about death and the awareness of time being so very short. Every second of this filled me with a giddy joy and boundless love.
