Concern Regarding Recent Lighting Changes at Eastwick 1
The residents want express their concern regarding the recent change in lighting in the laundry area aisles. On may 6, 2025, some residents from Inglis Garden E1 observed that the large, bright lights were replaced with smaller lights that provide significantly less illumination. It is unclear who authorized this change, but the new lights do not adequately light the area, resulting in noticeably darker conditions at night.
While we understand and appreciate that Inglis House Corporation may be working toward upgrading to more modern lighting systems, any changes made should improve conditions rather than diminish them. Proper lighting is essential, particularly for residents with limited visibility, and dimly lit areas increase the risk of trips or accidents.
Additionally, as Inglis House Corporation is aware, safety is a major concern for many residents of our community. Ensuring well-lit pathways and communal spaces is a key part of maintaining a secure and welcoming environment.
One of the residents took photos to document the lighting conditions and illustrate how insufficient the new lights are.

Sanitation Concern – Improper Disposal of Urine Bags
On Saturday, March 29, 2025, evening, around 6:20 PM, I came across two leg bags filled with urine discarded on the ramp in front of your office in E1. The bags were leaking, causing urine to spill onto the floor. This is not the first time this has occurred, and it is concerning that the issue has not been addressed with the seriousness it warrants, as it poses a significant sanitation and health risk. Human urine can contain bacteria and potential pathogens, creating an unsafe environment, especially in a community where children frequently play near this area.
Proper disposal of urine bags—whether bedwetting bags or leg urine bags—should involve emptying them into a toilet, cleaning them with soap and water, and then disposing of them in the trash. IHC should be actively communicating this procedure to all residents of Eastwick 1 and 2 to prevent similar incidents in the future.
While I understand that monitoring cameras to identify the responsible party may not be feasible, I strongly encourage your office to issue a memo addressing this incident and consider discussing it as an agenda item at your next meeting.

Unsanitary and Unusable Laundry Cart in Eastwick 1 Laundry
Regarding the extremely unsanitary condition of the blue laundry cart in the [E1/E2 - specify which] laundry room. The cart is consistently dirty, and covered in old fabric scraps, cobwebs, and other debris. This has been an ongoing issue, and despite repeated requests from residents to the administration for the cart to be cleaned or replaced, no action has been taken.
It is unacceptable that residents are expected to use such a dirty and neglected piece of equipment. We urge IHC to address this issue and either have the cart thoroughly cleaned or provide a new, clean cart for resident use. The continued disregard for this request is disappointing and reflects poorly on the management of the property.

Inconsistency in the Exterminator Schedule
I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the inaccurate extermination schedule provided to residents. On July 25, 2024, the scheduled exterminator visit did not occur as indicated on the provided schedule.
This inconsistency has disrupted my routine and resulted in the need to reschedule a personal medical treatment. The discrepancy in the exterminator's schedule prompted me to bring this up. During the last visit, the exterminator arrived on an incorrect date. I had to present the paperwork with the correct dates to demonstrate the error. Despite this, the maintenance person, Chuck, stubbornly insisted that the visit was scheduled for that day. It's frustrating that the Inglis House management office is quick to send threatening memos to residents who don't allow the exterminator into their units. This happened to me a few months ago when I was busy in the bathroom and couldn't answer the door and the exterminator said that I refused his entry into my apartment that day.
Extermination schedules must be accurate and reliable to avoid inconveniencing residents. This lack of coordination is unacceptable.

Improper Placement of Delivered Dishwashers (E1 Pedestrian Gate)
Three new dishwashing machines were left unattended at the entrance of E1, blocking the designated wheelchair passage.
For safety reasons, it is important to keep walkways clear of obstructions.  It would have been ideal for the delivery person to coordinate with Inglis staff to designate a more suitable location for the appliances. I believe there should have been Inglis Garden staff present on the property when the delivery occurred.

Repair Request - E2 Pedestrian Gate Malfunction
The gate has been stuck open for over a week, causing security concerns for residents.
A properly functioning gate is crucial for maintaining controlled access to the property.
We kindly request Inglis House Corporation that a technician be dispatched to assess and repair the E2 pedestrian gate. A secured gate will significantly improve the sense of security for residents.

Request for Cleaning - Inglis Garden at Eastwick 1 Garbage Room
The Community Board Members sent a request cleaning of the garbage room in E1. As of today, the room has not been cleaned since last week, resulting in unpleasant odors.
Additionally, gloves and a mask have been present on the floor since last week, further indicating a lack of recent cleaning. Regular cleaning with soap and water would significantly improve the hygiene and sanitation of this shared space.
We understand that maintaining cleanliness in a garbage room can be challenging. However, a consistent cleaning routine, as implemented by the previous property manager, effectively mitigated odors and prevented pest infestations. The on-site maintenance staff is well-equipped to handle this task, along with cleaning the laundry room.
We kindly request that you prioritize the cleaning of the E1 garbage room and establish a consistent cleaning schedule to ensure an odor-free and sanitary environment for all residents.
While requesting the cleaning of the E1 garbage room, I would also like to bring to your attention the recent observation of discarded gloves and masks on the property grounds. Specifically, I noticed soiled gloves on the grass near the front of the property over the weekend.
Maintaining a clean and pleasant environment requires everyone's cooperation. We kindly request that a letter reminder be issued to residents regarding the proper disposal of waste items, such as gloves and masks.

A distasteful act of dumping filled plastic bags containing human urine occurred in front of the entrance to Inglis Garden Apartment
Two bags containing urine were discarded near the pedestrian gate. This inconsiderate behavior not only poses a health hazard but also detracts from the overall aesthetics of our community.
Proper waste disposal is essential for maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for all residents. To ensure the well-being of our community, I would appreciate it if Inglis Administration could review security camera footage from the Eastwick 1 pedestrian gate entrance on Sunday, May 12. This would be helpful in identifying the individual responsible for discarding the urine-filled bags.
Such behaviors cannot return to this community as they have in the past.

Apartment doors of vacant units on E1 left open by workers
Last night, around 8:10 p.m., I noticed that the doors to vacant apartments U and X were wide open as I walked past. It was unsettling, as this incident brought back memories of similar situations from years ago. The maintenance staff hired by Inglis Administration appears to be unreliable and neglectful. Tools and equipment were left inside these apartments, increasing the risk of theft. Given that everyone has access to the gates, anyone could enter at night and take these tools.
It's concerning that Inglis Administration continues hiring these workers despite their failure to fulfill their responsibilities. Just yesterday, two workers were present at the property all day but failed to ensure that the doors to those apartments were locked. This incident highlights the need for improved supervision and accountability in the maintenance department.
