Hello! I’m a simmer and I’m looking for a little advice on the new horse ranch EP, and if you have any input, feel free to comment :D
So personally, I’ve never been a big fan of horses. I like them, but I’ve never had a super strong interest in owning one or just generally in horses. This particular pack didn’t really excite me at all when it was first introduced, and I was just waiting for more information about it before I made any decisions. But now, I’ve seen the stuff and now I kinda want it..idk if I should get it or not so just listen to my thoughts and tell me what you think :)
The pack itself..oh boy. For starters, the CAS in my opinion looked very..cowboyish. I never liked the whole cowboy, country, wild Wild West aesthetic, so the CAS seemed mid in my personal opinion.
The gameplay also seemed like it wasn’t packing a whole lot. In general, I thought it seemed like there wasn’t much gameplay and the gameplay they showed seemed like reused content from other packs,(nectar making is similar to eco lifestyle, sheep and goats to cottage living, square-dancing to get together, etc). Plus, NO UNICORNS.
The build/buy also seemed..well..very yeehaw. Which, as I said, I don’t like very much.
But then, I started watching the content from simmers who really enjoyed the pack, despite not being interested in horses before. I watched lilsimsie’s review, and if you’ve seen her before you’ll know how positive she is about almost every pack (not a criticism, just an observation, I love her🩷) but I then I also watched SatchOnSims’s review and saw the negatives as well.
Some of the concerns I have are:
1. The game seemed more glitchy for those who have it (to be expected, it’s brand new and the sims)
2. Not enough gameplay to keep me entertained
3. Not getting use out of the cas/build buy
4. The fact that it’s $40..I’m not rich
And then the positives are:
1. Extension of farming
2. Goes great with cottage living
3. More animals
4. Nectar making actually sounds interesting
5. Noticing some cute build/buy items
So essentially, my question is, should I get this pack? Is it worth it? Should I wait 2-3 months for it to go on sale even though it’s hard to wait? Idk. Thoughts are greatly appreciated 🩷

!sims 4 community rant!
Why oh why are so many talking shit about the new sims 4 growing together EP? I don’t understand at all why some are being so negative. Yes, I myself have a few complaints about it, but nothing major besides the changing table not being bg. I understand, those of you who played TS3 are upset because you’re so desperately looking for TS4 generations, but you have to understand that you’re comparing two games launched by the same creators, but my goodness, they are DIFFERENT GAMES. If you miss TS3, go play the sims 3. Stop complaining about how everything is soOoOoOo bad about the sims 4, yet when the sims teams provide you with tons of inclusivity, activities, content, and all the other things you want, you’re so quick to criticize and ask for more.
Honestly, I’m somewhat new to the sims community (I joined about a year ago) and those of you complaining ALL. THE. TIME. make me see how ungrateful they are. The sims team doesn’t have to do anything for us, yet they take our (respectful) advice into account and even if it “takes such a lOoNg TiMe”, we get content that sometimes I think many of you ungrateful “fans” don’t even deserve.
I’m sick of it. All of these complaints saying that EA is money hungry and stuff is bizarre. We get it. You got your point across. But the sims 4 is most likely not going to change. They have a system that works, and while I’m sure that it’s expensive, just remember that you aren’t FORCED to get any of the content they release. Yes, I agree that it’s more expensive than other games, and sometimes it is indeed unreasonable, however they have sales all the time. Literally 1 every two months I’m pretty sure, if not more often. The EPs are HALF the og price and the GPs and SPs are 30% off, and if you want a pack bad enough, scrounge up some money for it. Yes, not everyone can afford it, but that’s also not the sims’ problem.
Do we all wish this was ALL a bg update? Sure. But it’s not. Instead of complaining about something that’s definitely not going to change, try and focus on the positives for once.
I swear, I read some of these simmers’ posts and I just keep thinking: do you guys even like the sims?
As you can see on my page, I don’t post often, but I see so much negativity about the new update/EP and it’s made me less excited about it all, which I was when the trailer and teasers came out. Remember, your words have power. All of them.
