yesterday (july 6, 2020), I.C.E. legislation was passed regarding international students in the united states.
main points include:
nonimmigrant F-1 and M-1 visa holding students attending institutions that are completely online must leave the US or transfer to a school with in-person instruction.
visas will not be issued to students attending online-only schools.
nonimmigrant F-1 students attending “hybrid” schools must stay at that institution unless it goes completely online - in which they must follow the regulations above.
legislation essentially states:
deportation will proceed if individuals continue to stay
students enrolled in in-person instruction colleges are only eligible to enroll in one online class
if an institution’s instruction method changes for any reason, the affected students have 10 days to leave the country or transfer to a school offering in person classes
bottom line: many international students, amidst coronavirus regulations, are about to get displaced. students will have to risk their health and safety in order to either continue attending their institution or to go home.
how to help:
abolish ICE carrd
petition
further breakdown of the issue (via twt)
educate! please spread the word and stay informed.
this post will be updated as soon as i can get my hands on more ways to help.
regarding other events in the world: this and this is comprehensive in finding out more information. please stay informed and up to date! stay safe and aware of your surroundings.

☞A Message To Non-Black Authors ☜
Do you find yourself using slang in your fics? Or using the BLM movement as plots in your writing or art?
Please, as a black woman who’s kept quiet for way too long, STOP.
Why You Shouldn’t Abuse AAVE In Your Writing
When you overuse AAVE in your writing (using it flippantly or without credit to its actual meaning), you’re contributing to the devaluing of the black experience. And, to be honest, when a lot of you use it in your writing it sounds very awkward or is often misused.
What is AAVE?
“AAVE is an acronym for African American Vernacular English. Other terms for it in academia are African American Varieties of English, African American English (AAE), Black English (BE) and Black English Vernacular (BEV). [EDIT: since I wrote this post in 2014, a new term has gained a lot of traction with academics: African American Language (AAL), as in the Oxford Handbook of African American Language edited by Sonja Lanehart (2015), or the Corpus of Regional African American Language (CORAAL). I now use either AAE or AAL exclusively, unless I’m specifically talking about an informal, vernacular variety, however “AAVE” has gained traction in social media just as AAL replaced it among academics]
In popular culture, it is largely misunderstood, and thought of as “bad English,” “ebonics” (originally coined in 1973 by someone with good intentions, from “ebony” and “phonics,” but now starting to become a slur), “ghetto talk” (definitely a slur), and the “blaccent” (a portmanteau word of “black” and “accent”) that NPR seems to like using.” (Languagejones.com)
It is explained more here as well.
What’s The Big Deal?
This language has long been stigmatized and misused.
“We have a long cultural history of assuming that whatever black people in America do is defective. Couple this with what seems to be a natural predilection toward thinking that however other people talk is wrong, and you’ve got a recipe for social and linguistic stigma. For instance, in 1996 the Oakland school board took the sensible step of trying to use AAVE as a bridge to teach AAVE-speaking children how to speak and write Standard American English. They also took the less sensible step of declaring AAVE a completely different language. This was wildly misrepresented in the media, leading to a storm of racist, self-congratulatory “ain’t ain’t a word” pedantry from both white people and older middle-class black people who do not speak the dialect.”  (Languagejones.com)
You can’t use our slang then ignore our issues.
Why You Shouldn’t Misuse It (Or Use It At All)
The issue of appropriation of Black cultural expression has been brought to light in recent years. More people have come to understand why a non-Black person wearing cornrows or dreadlocks is problematic, or why blackface and verbalizing the ‘N-word’ in songs is harmful. Appropriation causes harm when it perpetuates stereotypes, turns culture into a commodity, and uses historical traditions as a trend, while the originating group continues to experience discrimination for the very same thing.
Language can act in a similar manner.  Within any culture, language is the basis for communicating ideas, and plays a role in shaping people’s sense of community. Yet, in North American pop culture, Black Vernacular English (BVE) is often used by non-Black people for social capital. Due to its social influence, BVE is often misused out of context in an attempt to be relevant, relatable, or for credibility. (Feminuity.org)
This article sums it up very nicely.
Key Points
The politics of black slang are tricky. Black slang and AAVE (African-American Vernacular English) have long been considered inferior to so-called “standard” English, and the black people who use it seen as uneducated or unintelligent (forcing many to master the art of code-switching). So when suddenly words and phrases that have strong ties to the black community are adopted and warped by non-black people, it can cause some of us to feel indignant, even insulted.”
“…we live in a society that loves black culture — but doesn’t like black people all too much — and what might look like acceptance is just downright thievery.”
“Listen. The idea here isn’t necessarily to say that white people shouldn’t use certain black slang (although by now we should all be clear on the N-word debate)… But the issue is how the etymology of these words gets lost in the sauce… As a general rule, if you have to ask whether or not it’s OK to use a word, if there’s any hesitation, then don’t. But also, we should all be aware of where these words come from and what they mean without attributing arbitrary definitions to them.”
Please Stop Using BLM In Your Writing (or art for that matter)
You drawing characters in BLM merch or supporting BLM is not a problem.
However, when you draw or write about them protesting or rioting or looting, that is a genuine problem. Would you do that in response to the Hong Kong Protests? Would you draw characters protesting against the Terror Bill? Would you draw them with Native peoples trying to advocate for the return of their land? Or, hey, even in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s-1960s?
No. Then what makes the Black Lives Matter movement so different?
Is it the fact that this hits so close to home you can’t process it by any other means than fictional?
What about seeing bnha characters rioting is supposed to feel inspiring? What about reading headcanons on how characters would quit their jobs as cops and protect me from tear gas is supposed to be comforting? These people aren’t real. But this issue is, and it’s serious, and it’s not something trendy or excusable to be filtered through a fictional lens. THIS IS REAL. THIS IS HAPPENING.
Take a look at this post to see
A friend on Discord couldn’t have said it better:
Tumblr media
Our culture is not for your entertainment. The Black Lives Matter movement is a real, pressing issue. Please, spread information and support your fellow black authors and artists.
FAQ
Does this mean I have to stop using slang/reaction images?
No! Be cautious of how you use it. One article states asking yourself these questions when it comes to AAVE:
Is it being commercialized for financial gain?
Is the usage performative or tokenizing?
Are you in proximity to the culture that originated the terms?
Are you using the language to “level up” or earn yourself credibility?
No one is policing you on saying popular slang, but you need to stay educated on the source of these words and how the overproduction and misuse affects us as a community. Our language is not for show, nor is it for your entertainment or attempts to sound “hip”.
Do I need to feel guilty or apologize for saying/doing these things?
Of course not! I promise, no one wants an apology or for you to sit around and feel guilty. Educate yourselves. Stay vigilant. That’s all I ask. This is not an attack or me shaming you by any means.
What if I’m black and condone this?
I sincerely ask you to look inside yourself and ask why this genuinely makes you happy. Are you doing it for some sort of validation? Fictional characters aren’t real. When your life is on the line, they aren’t going to magically come save you. When we let things like this get romanticized, it makes it easier to view this situation from a distance rather than how bad it really is and how close to home it’s hitting.
How can I help and/or support the BLM Movement now?
Support black writers and artists!
Be sympathetic towards our issues!
KEEP POSTING ABOUT BLACK LIVES MATTER. USE YOUR PLATFORM. SILENCE IS MOST DEFINITELY VIOLENCE.
This blog contains MANY resources to educate yourself and be active.
Thank you for reading!

A friend of mine posted this and tagged my old instagram account, asking me to share it. I figured sharing it here where I actually have a following, would be far better.
Please remember that just because the government is giving into pressure and greed, that doesn’t mean that any of this is getting any better, in a lot of ways it’s getting worse. And even if you yourself aren’t being as heavily affected anymore, there are people and communities that are.
Stay safe Darling ones, and help others remain safe too.

hey guys!! i’ve been gone for awhile and will still probably be a little spacy with requests and posts— but i’ve missed writing and trying to get back into it with a fresh start. requests are gonna be open but they’re gonna be heavily selective; i prefer to write what my mind comes up with as my flow works better that way, but that isn’t to say something you send it WON’T catch my eye. just gonna roll with things my way for little while : - )
More importantly than that, there’s been a lot happening in the world and with the sudden spark of protests and overwhelming support for BlackLivesMatter and everything else on top of it, it is just too important to not talk about and share right now.
I have a little bit of a platform here, so i wanna use it to spread some links to donations, petitions, and some really good sources to educate! i compiled a list, mostly from twitter— but there’s also quite a few links below that compile EVERYTHING together. I recommend going through that, because there’s an abundance of opportunities to help black communities, the movement, have a voice in more justice and rights being made— and educate yourself on the history of violence and racism black people have had to endure. There will be a lot more opportunities to look at other important rampant issues like LGBTQ+ rights, Yemen, and all the other injustices going on throughout the world. Apologies for not talking more on those, BLM has been huge here in America and taken most of my time— I’m trying to educate on everything as I go.
As a white person who’s called herself an ally for so long without really educating myself— the EXTENT of my white privilege has really slapped me in the face... but i’m not going to take that as a chance to feel guilty and instead a chance to get to work to understand how to use it to uplift black voices and help them live in a world where there’s no reason to be targeted for the color of your skin. I really recommend any of my white and non-black followers and friends to get into this mindset as well; it’s really tough and hard and our guilt is immense but it’ll never compare to the injustices black people have to live through. it’s hard but do it anyways, there’s quite honestly lives on the line.
to my black followers: i love you and i hurt for you, and i’m doing everything i can to educate MYSELF, as it isn’t your job to do so. saying that, if i misstep and say something wrong, and this goes for anyone; call me out! I value black voices the most right now and i’m hearing and taking everything you guys say in. there’s a lot of hate and injustice and i will never be able to deeply understand the hurt and trauma you have all suffered, but i know it’s there and i see you. any way i can help, i will.
i’ll try to keep posting some works because writing and ficus are good escapism— but i’ll reblog this regularly throughout the weeks, and i’m passionate in my activism! it will be a topic for me whether it’s here, other blogs or other forms of social media. thanks for reading and PLEASE take a look at the links below!

things are p bad rn, if youre feeling up to it some dave content would be really nice. headcannons or otherwise something really fluffy would be nice. maybe waking up next to him or late night cuddles or smthn. i love your work and hope youre doing okay man
hello friend I hope this helps, even if just a little! hope things get lighter for you soon <3
The first thing he notices when Dave blinks blurry eyes open is just how he feels.
The morning texan sun barley shines through the haphazardly hung curtains, giving the room a hazy glow kind of filter. It’s the only time of day besides sundown that the sun doesn’t burn his eyes— welcomes it in fact as red eyes become accustomed to a room that’s not his own. It takes a moment for Dave to remember how he ended up here, but he remembers clearly the movie night and the many cuddles the night before, turning over with a small smile to see your sleeping face.
You look good, in the early morning sun.
It’s times like this when Dave is alone that he allows himself to be a little sappy with no shame— eyes tracing over the way your eyelashes lay against the top of your cheeks, face smushed into the pillow case and lips pouted in a way that makes him laugh through his nose. Your positions changed over night as they usually do, and he’s a little perturbed at how he didn’t get to wake up before you with your body in his arms, but the sight makes up for it.
He’s gotten better at the love languages as your relationship progresses— still hard to reach out and brush a knuckle over your cheek gently, scared of being too soft not enough hard edges. It’s a difficult cycle to break, having to force himself to allow the smile to widen as you huff and turn into the touch. Dave knows you appreciate his vulnerability, crave it in fact. You’ve told him many times over how far he’s come, how proud you are for each step he takes. The sweet words and genuine care almost felt mocking at first, not sure if you really meant everything that came from your lips— but you had never been offended. Never once did his hardened edges turn you off.
(E/c) eyes blink open, and Dave’s heart clenches as a sleepy smile of your own crosses your lips.
“Mornin’, you’ve got drool on your cheek.”
His voice is husky when it comes out, drawing a jokingly offended huff from your lips as a hand comes to wipe at your face. You go to wipe it on his shirt, laughing hazily as he grunts and shifts away— a few moments of slow tussling before the two of you are settled. Dave’s hands itch to hold you, twitching as they rest on his stomach, unable to move until you do it yourself, head resting on his shoulder and nose pressing into the crook of his neck; a delighted hum fills the room as he finally tucks an arm under your waist and pull you closer. The nerves dissipate, and he’s able to press a kiss to the crown of your head without his lips trembling.
You’re warm and sweet against him, tracing patterns into his chest and easing his muscles one by one until he’s sunk back into your comforter, body buzzing with pleasant static and and ruby eyes fluttering closed as he basks in your presence, the sun steadily growing brighter and shining through your room.
“Going back to sleep?” Your voice is mumbled against his shirt but he can hear clearly, fingers reaching up to trail along your back and chuckle at the little moan that stifles out as he presses into what must be a tense spot. Dave shakes his head, rolling over to bury himself in your neck now, any shame left leaving his body as your arms wrap around his back tightly and hold him close.
“No, but I wanna stay like this for awhile though.”
You both end up falling back into sleep until the noon sun wakes you up with this unforgiving swelter, bodies hot and sweaty against each other as you wake with groans, but Dave doesn’t quite mind waking up hot like this— not if it’s with you.

“did you finish the homework for class today?”
you were about to lose it, to say the least. “kuroo, why didn’t you ask me earlier?” you whined frustratedly as he grabbed a seat next to you, pulling out his lunch.
you felt him shrug casually next to you. “i am not your planner, y/n,” kuroo said calmly and goddamn, you would do anything to wipe that smirk off his face.
there was a familiar shuffling coming up to the table and your eyes narrowed instinctively as you glanced up. you fought the roll in your eyes as you sighed dramatically, shifting your focus back to your screen.
kuroo jabbed your side with his elbow. “play nice,” he said, his smirk growing by the second. “hey, akaashi.”
akaashi lifted his chin at kuroo, pulling out the seat in front of you and setting his paper bag on the table with a thump. his eyes shifted to yours before he sighed out, “doesn’t it get exhausting?”

REEBIE!!! hey my lovie !!!! i love u very much <3 please accept my caca drabble i cooked up just for youuu muah
⚘ 13. “he’s so pretty i think i’m gonna faint.” | sugawara
Tumblr media
Somewhere far away where birds always sang and every flower blossomed sat a lovely cottage. A place so magical, you wouldn’t be surprised if fairies actually lived there. It was a home filled with joy that brought forth endless days filled with laughter. Even better, it was your home.
“What’s taking him so long?” You whisper to yourself, fastening the clothespin onto the line.
It was just another beautiful day outside. You were out doing chores in the sun, wearing your white sundress in response to the heat. You figured it was about time to do the laundry since the sun had been melting your skin away. It was also a good day for strawberries. Strawberries fresh from the market across the hills. The ones sold by the tiny old lady who always tells Sugawara to marry you.
You had sent Sugawara out this morning since you could only complain about your cravings and he hadn’t been back since. It didn’t bother you as much since it was a fairly small town and everyone knew each other’s business, but you just missed him. You missed him all the time and dearly. The way he spoke, the way his silver hair moved with the breeze, the way he-
A small flower is carefully tucked behind your ear and the man in question stands before you.
“Where did you go? I missed you.” You sigh, looping your arms around his neck.
“Went to get your strawberries,” Sugawara swings the basket towards you. “And I got a paint set for today. I know how much you like the ones that came with the pretty packaging. Just don’t want this day to end so fast.” Holding your waist tight, he closes the tiny gap between you, and presses a soft kiss on your cheek.
“God, I love you so much.” You gush into his neck, playing with the ends of his hair.
“I love you more, Y/n. More than you will ever know,” He says, slowly letting you go. “Now to make that lemonade of mine you wouldn't stop asking for.”
Watching Sugawara walk back to your little cottage, you couldn’t help but sigh as you turned back to finish pinning up your clothes. The flower Sugawara tucked behind your ear still sits in its place and you take a step back to admire your little home. A home you were proud to call yours and a home you worked so hard on. After a bit of pondering, the window opens and a smiley Sugawara appears.
“Oi, I’m almost done here,” He lifts up a pitcher. “What do you think?”
“I think that..” You inch your way towards him. “He’s so pretty I think I’m going to faint.”
“I mean the lemonade, stupid.” He flicks your forehead and you wince.
“Yes, the lemonade! It looks delicious, baby. Now hurry up and come here. Wanna paint you.”
Picking up the basket of paints and your easel from your garden bench, you begin to walk on the path towards your secluded meadow. Your little secret garden of yours. And it’s seconds when you hear Sugawara’s footsteps match your own and he uses his free hand to lace his fingers with yours. You hum in response as the two of you continue your walk listening to the birds chirps and the trees sway with the wind.
Your picnic blanket from yesterday is still there and the flowers surrounding it seem to look more colorful. Setting the easel down, Sugawara takes a seat beside you and pours you a cold glass of the world’s best lemonade.
When the sun sets, you lay your head on Sugawara’s lap looking at your finished painting. He places more flowers in your hair, but you don’t mind. You’re in a place that makes you the happiest with the person who has always brought you joy. Looking up at him, you find that he’s already looking down at you. He looks at you like you’re his world and there’s a twinkle in his eyes. A soft look that held a deeper meaning.
“What?” You ask, lifting your arm to touch his cheek.
“I’m just thinking about the kind old lady who sells our favorite strawberries. She said something to me today and I really thought about it,” He pauses for a while before speaking again. “I wanna marry you.”

From the writing prompt, can you do number 10 for aizawa?
You look rather pathetic, if he had to put it bluntly.
Aizawa takes you from the bartenders hold, carefully situating you upright as he thanks the exasperated man with a tired tone of his own. You can barely stand at the moment, only making it a few feet before he makes the executive decision to just pick you up and carry you home himself.
“(Name), how much did you drink?” You’d usually flinch that the harsh tone of your husbands voice, but you’re so far gone Aizawa’s not really sure you’ve heard him until you sigh deeply against his neck.
”I might have had a few shots.” Your lips tug into a frown against his skin as he huffs-- you’ve clearly had more than a few, and although Aizawa is much too tired to chastise you for your rather poor drinking decision, he isn’t going to hold back on at least a couple comments; it should hold him over for the night until he can talk to you tomorrow properly.
“Clearly more than a few-- you’re slurring and I have to carry you. You see the problem here, right?”
He might’ve been too harsh, as he hears you sniffle moments after. The man feels like a god awful husband for rolling his eyes, so he lets himself feel bad over that while nudging you to speak even just a little.
“I don’t feel good, Shouta.”
“Of course you don’t,” he sighs out, adjusting his hold. “You just drank half the bar’s stock.”
“No-- I don’t feel good.”
You slur it out, but it reaches his ears clearly. You sound tired and a little numb, the lag to your voice much deeper and heavy than the many other times he’s heard it. Aizawa starts to fit all the pieces together, adjusting you in his arms once more as the apartment complex you both share a one bed in comes into view. Being a hero is hard-- it’s rewarding to save people and put a smile on their face, knowing you’re doing good out in the world even if it’s a small little deed. But it’s hard and grueling, and sometimes the sights you see are things you’ll see behind your eyelids for years to come.
He remembers you were on duty for a rather messy cleanup that day. Your drunken states makes a little more sense now.
“Let’s get you in bed, you need to rest tonight.” Aizawa keeps his stern tone but his lips brush the shell of your head-- eyes closing softly as he presses the gentlest kiss he can imagine against your temple. He’s never good with words, but he feels things. Aizawa understands what exactly is flowing through you right now, and he knows you know this too-- arms wrapping tightly around his neck as your home gets closer.

All Might being supportive and celebrating pride with FTM S/O?
All might’s always been a little... patriotic to me. I think he wears the things he’s proud of on his sleeve-- whether that’s in his hero life, or personal.
Pride with him as your boyfriend could mean many things-- one, he’s a little nervous to go to parades considering his status, but he’s also a sucker for whatever his s/o wants to do. You want to go to pride? Alright, he’s gonna deck himself up in the trans flag for you and his own for himself.
He’s not familiar with such large celebrations, so getting the chance to deck out in his own pride and share yours means the world to him.
He’s prideful in the most genuine way; prideful in his sexuality and love and prideful of you-- despite being nervous in such large crowds All Might will be more than ecstatic to get the celebrate a pretty important date with you by his side.

Lowkey just got my heart broken, kind of emergency ask for some sweet dave fluff?
a little late my apologies! heart breaks are the worst, treat yourself kind and your heart will heal soon <3
“Apple juice good?”
You can tell he’s scrambling to say something. Dave’s eyes are hidden by those shades as he stares up into the blazing sky, so there’s no tell he’s nervous there. You know your best friend though, and with the way his kicks are tapping against the wall, dangling over the edge of the roof, you know he’s nervous.
Really, you can’t blame him-- showing up at his apartment while Bro is gone, a little red-eyed and not able to talk very well.  He doesn’t ask what happened, not knowing if it’s his way of being considerate or worried you’ll start crying and he’s not equipped to deal with that just yet, despite being friends for years.Instead, Dave grabs you both a couple bottles of his precious drug of choice (apple juice-- oh-so addicting), and now you’re camped up on the rooftop in the sweltering Texan heat as the big dumb red sun glares down at you.
It sweats out any tears you wanted to shed, at least.
“Mhm,” The bottle you set down is empty, reaching for your last one and nodding when he hands it to you. “Really refreshing after having my heart ripped out.”
Dave stutters a bit in your peripheral, lips twisting in a way that makes you think he’s trying to hold back a laugh from your bitter tone. He glances to you though, and even with the shades covering his ruby reds, you know he feels bad.You don’t want to talk about it though, shaking your head and that’s enough of a go-ahead to look back towards the sky with you. The silence is deafening in a sort of welcomed way, and despite the heat-- being up here with your best friend is a good way to end a shitty day.
It’s much too hot for it, but the blond is pressed against your side in a flash-- arm around your shoulder as he gulps a rather large amount of AJ down to avoid saying anything. It makes you smile, tiredly but happy nonetheless, laying your own head down on his shoulder and breathing out a little sigh. Dave is a little awkward, trying to move past his own issues with emotional dependency and what not, but he tries-- and he always tries a little harder with you.
The thought makes your heart flutter for your best friend in a way you weren’t used to, but with his fingers tapping a random beat against your skin and the shared heat sticking the two of you together, you’re sure it’s not the last time it’ll flutter like that.
