Class of 2012 - and all alumni attending Nostalgia 2022, we are delighted to announce that Class of 2012 alumnus Tony Sebastian will be performing stand up comedy at IIMK's Got Talent on Saturday 5th November evening! Register today for Nostalgia 2022 at www.iimkalumni.org - 130+ alumni have already registered! Tony Sebastian started his journey in Stand Up by spectacularly bombing on stage in various campuses. Not one to benefit from the excellent education at IIM Kozhikode, his lack of understanding of the sunk cost fallacy meant that he continued trying stand up at several open mics in Mumbai. Having achieved the high distinction of not being booed off stage, he now plies his attempts at comedy safely behind the screen on two podcasts. Tony assures us that Simblified and Bits and Pieces which he co-hosts has a very loyal following but has refused to share analytics numbers with us. But, his last order on Amazon was for "full body armour", so we can safely say he is preparing to get up on stage at Nostalgia! Thank you Tony for coming back to campus to perform for your 10 year reunion!

Class of 2007, we look forward to having you back on campus for your 15 year reunion at Nostalgia 2022 from 4-6 November! Register today at www.iimkalumni.org We hope this farewell video will evoke a lot of nostalgia for you ahead of your 15 year reunion - https://lnkd.in/dJmXNTbx "NC in 2 mins" "Anyone for NFS?" "Notes on FM2" "Multicast please" "Wormhole mein hai" Thinking point. Kiran maggi Group work at 1am in the library. Sunset at Sea Queen. Finding 6 other people to fill the jeep for the day trip to Kappad Night outs working on the project and falling asleep in class. We filled those 2 years with a lifetime of memories. Formed deep friendships (and some shallow enemies). We even managed to get a world class education somewhere in there, so we could talk about "scalability" and "sustainability" in the jobs we left with. It was a time out of the real world, a privilege and something we will cherish for the rest of our lives."

Five years after you graduate from business school and are looking for a new opportunity, will you be shooting your CV into the dark on mailing lists and whatsapp groups asking for leads? Or will you have a strong network of relationships where people know you well and call you with opportunities, or where you know many people in your dream organizations who can refer you and personally vouch for you? Networking and job search is taught at Western business schools but not at Indian business schools, which ends up being a handicap for Indian business school graduates. We have curated some alumni expert wisdom on "5 steps to land your dream job" on our alumni YouTube channel. The starting point in building your network is building relationships with fellow students and alumni. A golden opportunity will be in a few weeks at Nostalgia 2022, our mega alumni meet on campus from 4-6 November where hundreds of alumni from across batches will be on campus. The programme is designed to maximize interaction opportunities between students and alumni, and between alumni. How do you break the ice / initiate the conversation? 1. Introduce yourself and ask which batch / programme the alum is from? 2. Ask them what their favourite memories from campus are and how they feel being back on campus. 3. Share more about yourself and what you are enjoying about IIMK and what the big questions on your mind about your future are, so that the alum can share their ideas. Take the initiative personally to build your own network. A strong network is the killer app to get your dream jobs and you won't have to send your resume into the dark in the future.

Classes of 2002, 2007, 2012, 2017 - your milestone reunion at Nostalgia 2022 is a wonderful opportunity to give back to your alma mater. At our annual alumni meet Nostalgia 2018, we celebrated the 15, 10 and 5 reunions of our EPGP and PGP classes. The Class of 2008 / PGP 10 raised funds from 44 classmates for their 10 year anniversary batch gift to give back to campus. Through the ‘Future Skills Fund’, they wished to support students at IIM Kozhikode in their quest for skills relevant for the future, focused on technology, through online learning courses. We laud the spirit of giving back to the Institute by our alumni and are grateful to all alumni who contributed to this meaningful gift - and especially thankful to the class reunion and gift committee of PGP 10! #iimkalumnipower

"In your opinion, who are the top 3 people from the last 3 IIMK batches, who can join me to build X?" A real question from a senior alum recently to his IIM Kozhikode network. This happens all the time. Some of the most exciting and exclusive roles are filled through recommendations and referrals through networks and are never advertised, because a recommendation from a trusted source is invaluable. Senior alumni who are super connectors trade in talent and always have a mental list of high caliber alumni across batches. How do you get on the radar as a student or young alum? Invest in building relationships with alumni all the time, particularly through alumni events and other activities. When you have conversations with alumni, you have the opportunity to build an impression. Volunteering for alumni activities is a particularly effective way because alumni always see and recognize the organizers. Our mega alumni meet Nostalgia 2022 on campus from November 4-6 is a golden opportunity for both alumni and students to build relationships and expand their networks. At Nostalgia 2022, we will have a wide range of interaction opportunities for alumni and students to build relationships and friendships. So in future, when a senior alum in a hiring position asks for a top alum, you are on that list. #iimkalumnipower

38 days to go for Nostalgia 2022 from 4-6 November! One of the highlights of Nostalgia 2018, was a women's leadership workshop, organized by Class of 2008 alumna Shweta Arya, the diversity lead of the IIM Kozhikode Alumni Association and Women in Management - IIM Kozhikode. The workshop started with a talk by Ronald Philip on how diversity was a top priority theme for the IIM Kozhikode Alumni Association and sharing his own personal experiences. This was followed by a presentation by Shweta on the state of gender diversity at the workplace and in society, globally and specifically in India. This was followed by a panel discussion with insights from our distinguished panel that included Prof. Priya Nair Rajeev, alumnae Pavithra Ballachanda Poonacha, Sheeba D'Mello, Tanya Singh and Shruti Deora. It was an intense and interactive session with Liz Thomas, Prof. Shannu Narayan, Anuradha Dhote and Shalini Lahiri among others from the audience sharing their experiences as women in the corporate and academic worlds as well. Prof. Priya Nair Rajeev impressed upon the need for a mindset shift in that women need to be seen as equal to men in the society and at the workplace. Pavithra Ballachanda Poonacha emphasised the importance of building one's network and support system to help navigate each phase of life and career. Sheeba D'Mello highlighted the importance of building and managing your own brand, while doling out useful tips like having a sense of humour and using it to tackle difficult situations! Tanya Singh spoke about being comfortable in your skin, carving your own niche and bringing your unique skills to the table as a woman while sharing her perspective on networking through office parties or otherwise. Shruti Deora stated the need for systemic changes in the society towards equal opportunities for women and the importance of choosing the right life partner who can support you throughout your career. Liz Thomas urged all women to be kinder to themselves. Prof. Shannu spoke about being authentic and recognising that each of us have our own journeys. Shalini Lahiri spoke about presentability and speaking up for ourselves, and Anuradha Dhote shared statistics on women's contribution in the form of unpaid labour including 'emotional labour' while highlighting the importance of EQ at the workplace. Men from the audience highlighted the need for involving more men in the conversation. Shounak Ray gave suggestions on making the IIMK Women's network work for us better, Siva and Shiv spoke about the need for gender sensitivity trainings and coaching for men at various levels to help steer the cause for gender diversity forward. The last session was an exercise for all participants with guidance from Shweta Arya Sareen, on a framework to achieve your career goals through goal-setting and seeking the right support through networking, coaching and/or mentorship. The discussions were concluded with an agreement on next steps. The key action points agreed were: a) building the IIMK Women's network stronger through WhatsApp groups, Informal meets and Theme-based sessions, (b) setting up a framework for mentorship/coaching for women students and alumni by senior alumni. It was a truly heartwarming experience for the panelists, moderator and audience alike. Shweta Arya Sareen expressed gratitude to Jeannette Marsh for building the exercise used in the workshop, Heeral Bhatia for facilitating the workshop with Shweta Arya and Monika Shruti Gupta for leading it from the Students Alumni Cell front.

An estimated 50% of IIM grads switch jobs 18-24 months after graduating with their campus job. So what is important for helping you secure a great second job and opportunities throughout your career? Relationships. Many relationships collectively form your network. Your biggest long term asset is your network. Over time, great opportunities are not just a function of what you know, but also who you know. You need to start building your network on campus. You can build alumni relationships with alumni across the world. A big opportunity is Nostalgia, our mega alumni meet on campus from 4-6 November, where you will have the opportunity to have conversations with alumni. Conversations build relationships. At Nostalgia from 4-6 November, you will have the opportunity to have conversations and build relationships with hundreds of alumni. Make sure you: - sign up to be a volunteer - volunteers get to help alumni and alumni remember that - sign up to be an alumni buddy - you will be allocated to alumni and there is a lunch dedicated for conversations between alumni and their student buddies - join the functional networking sessions where you'll get to interact with alumni in your area of interest - perform at IIMK's Got Talent and alumni will know and remember you - play poker with alumni at the same table during Poker Mania - have fun conversations with them at the late night chai networking session Every alumni relationship you make will count over the course of your career. That is your real ROI from business school. #iim #iimkalumnipower
