“What?” Ianto questioned as his glance fell to meet the dog’s. Bright eyes looking up so innocently at the young male, as teeth were loosely clamped around the edge of Ianto’s sleeve.
Ianto let out a deep sigh, “Alright.” Jack, the dog, obviously catching onto the waves of weariness that the male must have been letting off. Without any hassle, he let the dog lead him down the hall to the bedroom. To once there, Ianto flopped heavily on the bed. He was exhausted. That was well too known to him. He needed the rest.
While he lay in the bed, he looked over to Jack, who was sitting on the floor. “Do you want on the bed?” He asked through an oncoming yawn, debating whether he’d need to get up to help Jack or not.
Shifter
Jack was in and out from the medication that had been keeping his pain away. When he was set down he lifted his head to lick at Ianto’s hand with a happy whine. He was thankful for the male’s kindness, and already planned to stay around to repay him. After all as a shifter it was law.
Once he felt comfortable enough he got up, best he could with the injuries as he made his way over to Ianto, carefully biting his sleeve to tug at it, wanting Ianto to follow him. Once he had the male’s attention he lead him to his bedroom. He wanted Ianto to get a proper sleep. The male needed it. He gave a whine, looking to Ianto then to the bed, hoping the male would understand and actually lay down to sleep.

Owen wasn’t sure if Ianto knew what he was doing but regardless it was a plan and at this time, he didn’t have one so it was their only option. holding tightly to Audrey, making sure she didn’t fall as he followed Ianto.
After some time she ended up falling asleep on Owen’s back, he could feel his neck start to cramp up, and back get stiff, as she was becoming more like dead weight than anything, he let out a groan as he pushed her back up trying to ignore the feeling of his arms going to sleep.
Owen stopped, to looking the other in the eye, it was a fair question, but Owen felt slightly attacked by it, this was his sister after all he wasn’t going to leave her with their abusive parents.
“I do yes!” he scuffed back, with an offensive tone. has he was cut off, Owen just let out another sigh. shaking his head, “good how much farther?” he asked, ignoring the fact that he was still a little upset.

The words that were spoken by this other Captain had sounded so foreign to Ioan’s ears. It had been all too many years since the man had spoken his deep thoughts — and with all that, to have someone respond with such- such understanding? Far too odd, much too different. Ioan had no clue how to react. And to much surprise, the man found a chuckle forming in his chest.
From a distance, it would appear as if the man might have been crying, but no, he was laughing. He looked up to the Jack, eyes dark as me managed into a standing position. Countenance dour as he spoke, nearly bound to grow hysterical, “You think I’m su’posed to believe any of this shit? Do you really think that?” He took a step closer to the bars of the cell, “Do you really think your words of adoration are going to change anything?”
Ioan scoffed as he turned to face away; he could feel another cough forming deep in his chest. Wrapping his arms around himself, he partially keeled over as another coughing fit took its course. When it finally seized, he turned back to face the duplicate in the cell. “I may let you out, but you’ll be under my order and my order alone.” Words halted by a brief pause as a smirk found its way across the man’s pained face. “And your Ianto’s a bloody idiot for’s many time as he’s hit his bloody head.”

Cold metal of the blade firm against DS Jones’ neck. Hard enough to leave an indent in the man’s neck once pulled away, but not enough to draw blood, not unless — moved away. The sting of pain, of warmth fell to the new wound, but no time to make any reaction towards it as within the next moment Ianto had found himself gasping for air.
His deep inhale was cut short by those chains digging into his already bruised chest. Previous red bruises now resembling that of a midnight sky. Oh how the young man so badly wished to let out a scream, to put a voice to the pain that DI Harper was bringing to him — but he was at lost of voice. He clenched his teeth, doing his best to hold back the tears that were swelling up his eyes.
Finally! Words found their was from deep within the DS’s throat and escaping past his lips. “ . . . Y-You, you can’t kill me . . . it’s- it would be too soon . . . they’d know . . .”

Killer Of The Night
Owen cackled, ignoring his victim, he leaped out of the chair, pressing the blade to the male’s neck, being careful not to press too hard, he didn’t want to kill him yet. “You ask too many questions.” Owen hissed, lightly nicking Ianto’s neck, he replaced the knife with his thumb pressing against the other’s throat.
After a moment he let go, pulling harder on the chains Owen’s eyes went dark as he watched the other, causing people pain had always excited him, it was always just such a thrill to him.
"Don’t think you’re special, you’re not the first person i brought here, and certainly wont be the last."

Ianto looked a bit startled upon hearing Gwen. "Uh — Just some files," he said as he turned around to look Gwen in the eye. "Paperwork, the usual." He flashed her an uncertain smile. With a nod, he spoke, "And you? Why're you still here?"

"Jack," Ianto said the Captain's name so softly as he inched closer to the man. With a pause, he joined Jack in a seated position, leaning against the desk. Before he spoke, he bit his lower lip, thinking on his words.
Lightly exhaling before he spoke, "Jack, it's not your fault," he placed a hand upon the man's shoulder, "And Gwen isn't going anywhere as of late . . . We just have t'get by with what we have, Jack, together." Ianto flashed a smile to Jack, all knowing that it wouldn't bee seen.
Tears were impossible to battle now, as Jack sat against his desk on the ground. He hadn’t been seen since Grey was sealed away in the cryo-chamber. He peered up at Ianto through the haze of his anger and sadness. “You.” He said after a moment. “You’re the only thing I have left. I let Owen and Tosh die and Grey’s gone and I just can’t.” He paused to look back down at the floor. “I can’t do this anymore, Ianto.”

"Shut up! Just bloody shut up!" Ioan turned, hitting his fist against the wall."I don't want to hear any of that fuckin' rubbish, y'bloody hear me?" The man sounded as if he was on the verge of tears. He inhaled sharply, trying to pull himself together before turning back around to face the man who looked like a replica of his lost beloved.
"Look," he said, quickly moving his hand in a downward chopping motion, "All I want to do is find my bloody Captain, get you two shitheads back to wherever the fuck you came from, and maybe, just maybe attempt to fix this broken world. And I don't give a shit if I die doin' any of it. As long- as long as I get to see my Captain one last time . . . " the man's voice was breaking as he leaned himself against the nearby wall, sinking down to the floor.
With his head now between his knees, he looked as if he were a small child who had just gotten scolded by their parents. Ioan took a few deep breaths before even attempting to say another word. "Why th'hell am I tellin' you any of this shit anyways? . . . " His voice trailed off.

"Is that it? 're y'all done? He's going to be alright, isn't he?"
"Yes, Ianto, he's fine. You can even take him home now if you'd like," responded Lisa with a calming smile.
"Do I need to pay you anything? You know I haven't got much . . ." he rustled his hand in his pocket, pulling something out, and looking at it, "A fiver's all I've got, is that enough?"
Lisa reached out, closing Ianto's hand around the money, "Don't worry 'bout it, this one's on me; I insist."
It took awhile to get back to Ianto's flat as he wanted to make sure Jack would be safe once again during the transport. It started to rain when the were half way home, and the young Welshman had courteously taken off his jacket to cover the dog with.
Once they finally arrived inside the flat, Ianto laid Jack down upon the make-shift dog bed in the kitchen, figuring out what to do next.
Shifter
Jack let Ianto handle him as he saw fit. As well as allowed the woman to look him over. He laid still and moved how she requested. He wanted to behave because truthfully he wanted the male to keep him around. He had to now that Ianto had saved his life.
He owed him his life in return. Jack gave a small whine when Lisa handled his paw but let her fix him up with a splint, resting his muzzle against Ianto’s hand when he set them on the table, indicating he was comfortable as long as Ianto was nearby.

Ianto didn't speak a word, as he was too focused on keeping his eyes on the path before him. Despite that, he listened carefully for Owen's following footsteps.
"There it is!" The child spoke in an excited tone, pointing ahead to a small cabin. The roof was partially collapsed in along with the left side wall, but there still was plenty of room for the three of them to stay, he hoped.
As they closed in on the cabin, the wind picked up. Ianto pushed the door, glad that it moved it. "Go! Get inside," he said as he allowed Owen with Audrey to go in before he did. Shortly after, Ianto was inside as well, struggling to get the door closed.
Once inside he placed his bag in the corner of the room where they entered. "Th'place's a bit more worn than I last remember . . .should hold for the night though!" He walked further inside, taking note of where the collapsed roof and wall was. With a frown he said, "Looks like the bedroom is destroyed, but this room's perfectly fine. — Have you a blanket?" He pointed to Audrey, "To lay her down on?" Then he notioned to the fireplace in the room, "You cold? I can light a fire."

The next morning, Ianto woke up in his bed. With slow words he mumbled, ". . . I don't remember going into here . . . " Turning over, he looked to the clock on the nightstand, it flashed 7:32. "Oh! Jack!" Throwing the covers off of himself, he got up and hurried over to the kitchen to see the dog resting peacefully.
The young Welshman crouched down next to Jack, and stroked his fur. "Hey, re'y'up?" Voice was gentle. He waited for the dog to make an acknowledging sound before Ianto stood back up. The young man looked lost in his own flat for awhile as he was trying to remember where he placed down his coat, only to realize he was already wearing it.
He crouched back down next to the dog, cautiously maneuvering himself to be able to pick the dog up safely. "Got'a get y'to the vet. They should be open now, shouldn't day?"
It took well over a half hour for Ianto to arrive with Jack at the veterinarian office, mainly because he had to keep stopping to get a better hold on the dog.
A kind, young female's voice spoke upon his entrance.
"'Mornin' Ianto. I didn't realize you had a dog . . . "
Ianto flashed the female a quick, faint smile as he spoke, "'Mornin' Lisa." His smile lingered after he spoke her name, faded as he went into his next words. "Yeah, not really my dog. Found him on the side of the road last night . . . I-I think he was hit by a car . . .yeah, he was hit by a car."
Lisa notioned him to follow her to the back room, placing Jack upon the examination table. "Sorry, I hadn't much sleep last night - Is he going to be alright?"
She was looking over the dog's wounds, gentle hands coming to the collar to check the tag. ". . . Jack? That's his name? There's no other information here that I can read . . ." With caution she continued to check over Jack's wounds. Ianto was clearly growing anxious waiting to hear how injured the dog was.
Shifter
Jack gave a happy wag of his tail at the males praise, watching as he brought him water. Careful of his injuries he maneuvered himself to be able to drink. He took his time and when he was satisfied he noticed his savior fast asleep against the wall. Jack shifted again, nosing at the man’s side, trying to wake him.
Sleeping like he was would ruin his back. The least Jack could do was get the young lad to go to sleep in his bed. When the male would rouse he gave a soft bark, trying to wake him. Once the male was awake though he nosed at him before looking to the direction of the welshmans bedroom before looking to him.
He was trying to convey him to go to sleep. He would be alright out here alone if Ianto wanted to leave him, at least he was only bleeding a little from his scraps and gash on his muzzle.

"'e hit his head plenty of times why he's been here," Ioan stated unempathetically as he went back to avoiding eye contact with this Jack. "It's just a broken rib - I'll be fine," his words were an obvious lie, but he didn't put much effort into his statement away, he just wanted to get off of the subject of his health.
And then Jack brought up the Captain, his Captain. Ioan inhaled sharply before turning around, slamming his hands down on the crate. "Don't you bloody dare talk 'bout him!" Quickly, he turned away once more to pull him self back together after lashing out. He needed to take time to remember to keep breathing.
This time, when he spoke, he was holding back the rage with a false façade of calm. "You're obviously not mortal. I shot you, remember? And yet you're still bloody here." The words so harsh, but spoken so smoothly. "And you should know better than anyone that you can't do that. You cannot take us back. You can't bloody do that. You of all people should know that! . . . We - We belong here." Finishing off with a heavy exhale.

The DS knew he was better off playing along with Owen, doing what the elder said. Best to protect his own life; so, with that, he didn't say a word. What he did do was keep his eyes on the man, that was the only thing he could do, until he was forced to shut his yes.
The chains dug deep into his bare flesh, causing bruises to form, blood to trickle down his chest. He winced, clenching his teeth, doing his best not to let out a scream. Not like it'd do him any good to scream.
Once the DI let go of the chains, letting them fall, but still set tight across the DS's body, he took in a deep breath. He couldn't reason with the man now, but he couldn't help it. With caution, he asked, "Why are y'doing this to me?" His words were spaced as he needed his breath; trying to ignore the pain as well.
Killer Of The Night
Owen cocked his head to the side pushing the chair out from under him, a dark chuckle escaped his throat as he stepped closer to DS Jones ticking his tongue on the roof of his mouth, dark eyes glanced the other up and down, ” say one more word, and I’ll cut your tongue off.” he sneered, running the blade across Ianto’s lip.
" ‘m gong to have fun with you." Owen cackled, pulling on the chains so they would dig into Ianto’s flesh more causing him to bleed. "If you’re good, maybe i’ll let you live.” Harper spat.

The police car seemed slowly followed behind them as the kids headed off into the woods. They ended up deep in the woods and away from the road. That wasn't good, especially since it was growing darker by the second.
Ianto huffed, catching his breath, and making sure Owen and Audrey were right there next to him. They were. Good. The young boy looked back in the direction that he thought they'd came from. "Don't think they followed . . . Maybe they're just wond'rin' what us kids were doin' out at this time? Maybe?"
With a deep inhale, Ianto stood up straight and stretched, pretending he wasn't lost. He did his best not to turn around, so they wouldn't loose the direction they were going.
"Uh . . . let's go this way . . . " he started to tread in the same direction he was facing, keeping a slow pace for Owen's sake. It appeared that Ianto still have an idea where he was headed.
After awhile a walking, he looked over to Owen and asked, "Y'think it was a good idea to bring her along? Is she really safer with us?" Before the other was given a chance to respond, Ianto looked around; he recognized the area. "We're close!"
Little Thing
Owen took a big bit of the apple, savoring the juicy and sweet taste, ”I’m sure our parents know we’re gone by now.” he added as they kept walking, he wondered if it was safe to take Audrey with them, but he just couldn’t leave her back home to get beaten, that wasn’t an option.
"Its going to get dark soon, think we’ll make it, before sunrise?" He asked, not sure how far they made it now, Owen never really paid attention to distance, he just ran until he was told to stop.
"Owie i’m tried." Audrey whined tugging at her brother’s arm, Owen sighed as he got down on his knees so his little sister could climb on his back, "I can’t do this every time Aud." he informed, walking faster to keep up with the other. ‘Police!" he shouted, seeing an uncovered car, in the distance, "c’mon it’s better if we walk in the woods. wont be seen as much." he suggested.

Carefully, Ioan placed his cup of coffee down on the crate before he pulled out his journal, taking note of what Jack said.
Captain Jack? Different time, came through rift, just like Ianto had. Seem to be from the same time - stories match up.
He closed his journal, placing it upon the crate. All this time he was indirectly looking at Jack, until now, when he finally looked the man dead in the eyes. "Roughly three years ago, something happened. We think it was due to the rift, but we're not certain of it. It caused somewhat of an explosion; destroyed the majority of Wales. We're not sure how far out it affected, readings say it hit the rest of the world hard as well. Cardiff the hardest."
Taking a break from his words, he turned away. "You saw the land; it's barren waste now. Piles of rubble and ash where buildings once were . . ." Ioan stopped his from continuing; he figured that was enough to fill Jack in.
"We found Ianto the same way and place where we found you, the ruins of the Roald Dahl Plass, or as you probably know it as, Torchwood Three." This time he had to stop himself to catch his breath; he'd never spoken that much.
Ioan had to cough a few times to loosen up the fluid that was building up in his lungs once again. "Your Ianto, this Ianto, was he quite clumsy?" He asked, brows furrowing. "Because he seems to hit his head quite often . . . That's what we believe caused his amnesia."
There was a long pause and now he was looking down, "And my name's not Ianto . . . not anymore . . ." His tone was an aggressive hiss. " . . . It's Ioan."

"How'd you find me?" Ioan questioned as Owen sunk to the ground next to him. With a sarcastic chuckle, nodding his head as he spoke, "Oh right, I passed out, didn't I?" The sarcasm faded quickly, leaving Ioan with his usual, dour countenance. He let out a heavy sigh as he silenced himself, waiting for Owen to fill him in.
Ioan listened intently to Owen's words, although it didn't look like it. He looked up to the sky, completely ignoring everything regarding his health. In a dull tone, he spoke. "I knew he wasn't the Captain," he shook his head, "There was something off about him, you know? He, he, he just didn't seem, he didn't seem as broken . . . he had that glint of hope in his eyes . . ."
Finally Ioan, looked over to Owen, voice breaking, "Owen, do you think our Jack will ever come back?" It was obvious that Ioan had let a tear or two fall as his dirt-stained face had a few streaks of light down the sides.
Owen mentioned the man's health once more, leaving him in no position to escape or word his way around it. This time, Ioan looked down, "I bloody know I'm getting worse, Owen, and there's nothing either of us can do about it. There's nothing any of us can do about it. — I'm not ready to tell the others, not yet . . . but I don't think I can handle being out in another storm . . ." Words fading to a pause.
Letting out a puff of air, the man looked up again, "I was hoping so bloody bad that that would be our Captain. . ." Ioan's voice was breaking again, "Our Jack — So I could tell him goodbye one last time . . . "
He leaned against the rubble wall, letting it support him as he got up. "We should head back," flashing a smile to Owen, "I've got a man to interrogate."
It took awhile, but Owen and Ioan finally returned to the Hub. On the way, he made the medic promise to tell no one about his how bad his condition really was.
When he entered their Hub, he nodded at Gwen, "the cells?" to confirm where the other Jack was being held. He made his way to the back of the Hub, checking that he had his journal on him, and stopping at the food supply area to grab two cups and a pitcher of that oh so shitty coffee.
From there, he went through the small carved out hallway and into a slightly bigger hallway that had two cells. A crate was at the end, which Ioan pushed over with his foot to the cell that Jack was in. He placed the two cups and pitched on top of it, pouring two cups of the dirt-like coffee before opening the cell.
"This is what's going to happen. You're going to tell me everything you know; everything that happened leading up to you being here. Then, after that, you can ask me anything you'd like. We got a deal?" Ioan's tone was very demanding. Straight-faced, he took a sip of the coffee, which tasted more like the barren land around them than anything.

Ioan's eyes grew wide as he saw the WWII clothing, could it be him? "Captain?" The syllables softly rolled off the man's tongue, drifting off into nothingness as Ianto jumped in to help.
A sharp pain burned deep with in Ioan as the Captain said Ianto, while eyes locked with the double. Nervously, he ran a hand though his hair. And then, and then, the kiss. Ioan looked away, then back, trying to think, trying to calm himself down. He gnawed on his lip.
Then he noticed how petrified Ianto looked, like he didn't know who the Captain was. But the Captain, this Captain was sure he knew Ianto, who on the other hand, seemed to have no clue who the other was.
Ioan notioned for his team to back off and he clenched his fists at his sides. His mind was jumping to so many conclusions he couldn't focus on what was going on before him. This Captain didn't even seem to recognize Ioan, but he was a bit more scruffy looking than the other.
Taking a step closer, he looked down to the man trapped in the rubble. Ioan's hand twitched at his side, near the holster for his gun. With voice trembling, he spoke, "You left us, Jack! And you're snogging him?" He pointed aggressively to Ianto. "Two bloody years you were gone, and the first thing you do once you're back is snog him?" There was a brief pause in his words as he held back tears. "Can't you tell the difference, Jack? Can't you tell the fucking difference?"
It was all in one swift movement after that. Ioan's hand went down to his side, to the holster, where he removed his gun, aimed it at Jack, and fired. Bang! Jack was dead with a bullet to the head.
Closing his eyes, Ioan dropped his gun, turned around, and started walking away.
The others were silent in disbelief of what just happened, knowing that Jack would come back to life eventually.
As Ioan walked away, he picked his pace up to a run, and just kept running.
The pain killer Owen gave him earlier must have been working as he didn't feel a thing except a minor tightness in his chest. He shook it off and kept running.

Ioan put a finger to his lips to silence everyone. He was listening carefully, even the slightest bit of wind could be dangerous after a storm like that. There was nothing - the air was still.
Slowly, he stood up, notioning for the others to do so as well. Nodding to Gwen, Ioan spoke, "Get the SUV."
"On it!" Gwen replied without hesitation.
"Tosh! Grab your equipment." As Ioan spoke, he nodded over to Ianto, "Help Tosh carry the equipment to the front - to the SUV."
Owen was about to speak but Ioan got to him first. In a hushed tone he spoke to the man. "It's getting worse . . ." He looked over his shoulder to the others, nodding, "We'll catch you up!"
He coughed again, not as bad as he had been, but he was feeling the need to sit down. With Owen's help, he hobbled over to the medical area, sitting down on the cot that was there.
Owen stood before the man, arms folded, with a scolding look on his face, but he didn't dare say a word.
"Have you any more pain killers?" Ioan was now clutching his chest, doing his best to breathe.
"Pain killer's not gonna help y'much; y'need an anti-inflammatory."
The leader hissed through his teeth, "Jus' give me whatever you have."
Owen walked over to his medical supplies, quickly looking over what available; not much. He grabbed one syringe that had a large needle attached, then one with a smaller needle and a small vail of something.
"Have t'save the antiseptic for major injuries."
Ioan shrugged in response; he was in too much pain to care.
"Take off your shirt and lay down," directed Owen and Ioan did so slowly. Owen stood over him, "This might hurt a bit." He then took the larger syringe and with precision and force, pressed the larger needled syringe through the space between Ioan's second and third ribs on the right side and through to the lung. Ioan clenched his teeth and let out loud groan.
But Owen wasn't done yet. Slowly, he pulled up on the syringe, sucking out a first, yellow tinted liquid. As he kept going, the fluid became a darker color, almost a dark red.
Normally, the drainage would be done lower and near the side or back, but they didn't have time for a proper medical procedure.
Owen pulled out the large needled syringe and before he could analyze it, he took a torn and folded piece of what was presumably once a shirt, and placed it on top of the hole he created in Ioan's chest, securing it down with a piece of duct-tape.
Ioan was obviously still in pain, but Owen was too busy staring at the color of the lung fluid. "This s'n't good . . ." Worry was plastered over his countenance.
"I'll be fine," grunted Ioan as he moved into an upright position. "Got that painkiller?" He didn't even bother to put his shirt back on.
Owen nodding, placing the larger syringe down and picking the smaller one up, going back over to Ioan, stabbing the needle into the man's upper arm and injecting the substance. "It won't take effect instantly, y' know."
Rolling his eyes, Ioan got up, still in pain. Slowly he put on his shirt and went over to grab his long coat. "Go. I'll meet you at the SUV."
Soon enough, Ioan met up with the others, getting into the SUV. He was rather silent. He nor Owen mentioned the little procedure that had taken place not to long ago and none of the others ever bothered to mention. Ianto, though, seemed curious, but he didn't need to know.
Gwen drove to the location of the the rift activity was, following the readings given from Tosh. Back to the rubble of the Millennium Centre and the Roald Dahl Plass.
