Short Term 12

This story is about Grace she is the young supervisor of Short Term 12, a group home for troubled teenagers. She lives with her long-term boyfriend and coworker, Mason. At the film's start, Grace seems to have achieved a comfortable balance between her professional and personal lives. She handles both the mundane routine of the place and the volatile emotional flare-ups with the same sort of cool confidence. Grace and Mason focus their efforts on Marcus, a Short Term 12 resident who is about to turn 18 and is struggling with the prospect of leaving the facility. He is about to turn 18, which means he'll have to leave the home; frightened to make his way on his own, he acts out during these final days instead of facing his future. But the impending departure of one kid and the arrival of another shake everything up for her. Grace bonds with Jayden, a recent arrival at Short Term 12 who has a history of self-harm. Jayden distances herself from the other teenagers as she does not intend to stay at the facility for long, who insists her father is coming to get her soon so she refuses to make friends and when her father fails to pick her up on her birthday, she reacts violently towards the staff.After her outburst, she sits in the certain room with Grace, who shows Jayden her own scars from cutting herself when she enters her room she and see all the crafts that her fellow short term 12. That night, Jayden leaves the facility in the middle of her birthday celebrations and, unable to force her to return, Grace follows Jayden to her father's house.After finding the house empty, they return to Short Term 12. When Jayden reads it's through a shared love of drawing. But Jayden also uses her art to reveal the truth about her home life, which stirs secrets within Grace that she'd fought hard for years to suppress.Grace a cryptic story she has written, Grace begins to suspect that Jayden was abused by her father. At a party hosted by Mason's foster parents, he proposes to Grace, who accepts. The following morning, Grace is upset by a phone call that reveals her father is being released from prison, and refuses to be consoled by Mason. She arrives at Short Term 12 to discover that Jayden has been picked up by her father overnight. She is angry at the decision to send Jayden back to her father, but her boss maintains that Jayden denied that she was abused by him. Later that day, Grace finds that Marcus has attempted to commit suicide after the death of his fish. While waiting at the hospital as Marcus is being treated, Grace breaks down and Mason becomes upset with her for refusing to talk to him about how she feels; instead, she tells him that she no longer wants to marry him and that she plans to have an abortion.When Grace finds out she is pregnant, she schedules an appointment for an abortion; she eventually tells an overjoyed Mason about the pregnancy, but not about her plan to have an abortion. Grace is upset of what happens she returns to Jayden's father's house and breaks in, intending to injure him while he sleeps, but she is interrupted by Jayden, who suggests that they smash his car instead. Grace opens up to Jayden about being sexually abused by her own father, and after Jayden shows Grace bruises from where her father hit her they return together to Short Term 12, where Jayden reports her father for physical abuse. Grace goes home to apologize to Mason, who tells her that Marcus will recover. Several weeks later, Grace starts seeing a therapist and she is shown viewing an ultrasound with Mason. Mason tells the rest of the staff about running into Marcus, who is doing well and has a girlfriend.

it saw a great psychologically-minded movie that really made me think about teens like me and some of the struggles they have and the support they so badly need from the adults around them. Here in this movie we really saw that the teens have their own story. What really caught my attention in this movie is how the staff handle this kind of situation of the teens. This movie teach me how important our parents, how lucky I am to have a parents like mama and papa. And lastly this movie also taught me the life is pain, but also profound hope. It makes you see how much every person need love, consistent limits, the ability to test those limits, and adults around them who truly care about them. I always think we could change the world if every child and teen had at least one adult who really listened from the heart, and tried to join and connect with them. Bruising happens, but healing is always a possibility as long as we are alive. The most powerful part of the movie is when every thing is back to normal, the life of Jayden and the life of Marcus  because in the last part we see that they are depressed, and this part we see how Grace and the other crew of Short Term 12 help them in their personal problems. My favorite character in this movie is Grace because she is strong to face all the problem of the teens in Short Term 12, when the teens have a problem she is always there to guide them for the right decision. We see here in the movie the real essence of Super Hero, that is why she is my favorite character in this movie because she's became super hero for all of the, she is there to protect them all.

If I am given a chance to ask a question to any character in  the movie I will ask Grace, I will ask her how, how she handles all, all of the problems in the short term 12, how she become strong for all of them, how she face it. All of my questions is how because while watching this movie I ask myself if LOVE is enough reason to become strong and this movie answers it right that the real LOVE is enough reason to face all the challenges.

The art of Getting by

This movie is about a student with a passion in arts. His name is George, he is loner high school student with a passion in drawing and skipping class, he draw many thing on his textbooks and not turning in homework. He also has a smart remark about being too distracted by the thing that less important than other things in life, when the teacher asked him to turn in an assignment. He gets some laughs from the his classmates, he is sent to the principal office to finish his assignment. After going to the principal's office and talked by the principal. When George gets home, his mom says the school put him in academic probation, and he said to not worry abut it. Later, in art class, George just doodle on his canvas in pencil instead of painting like the teacher request.

George go to the roof and he encounter another classmate, sally smoking, when the teacher appears, George pulls out a cigarette and takes the fall to sally. She silently thanks him as she slip back inside. Sally meets up with George after class and thank him for helping her out on the roof and asking why he did it. He says he is more experienced at getting in trouble and would be able to talk his way out easier. Sally's seems interested to start talking to him, until sally invites George to a New Year's Eve party. At the party George said that he is shy from the crowd, and Sally said that she will not left George to the party but after a while she’s dances to her ex-boyfriend and George is out of place, he drink and drink until he is drunk and run outside, throws up, and falls sleep in an alley. Sally finds him and takes him in hes place, putting him to bed on a pull-out next to her bed. The next morning Sally wake's up first, watching George sleeping. On that day they grow close to each other and George involved in school.  

On that day also he saw his step-dad around the city sitting on the bus stop he is questioning  why his step dad is around the city, he go to the office of his step dad and finds an eviction notice on his office. On the valentines, the two go out to dinner and Sally starts asking questions what he thinks of her. George is evasive, and she asks him if he'll have sex with her. George freezes. Sally backtracks and claims she was kidding. He remains withdrawn and begs off early. He refuses to take Sally's calls and avoids her. We see Sally inviting Dustin out  for a drink and flirting with him. At first he resist, but the he kisses her and they are together on date or staying over at his studio. George is sent again to the principal's office because he don't have a term paper. The principal says that he's not going to graduate if one assignment is left undone, he is expelled.

When he got home he confronts his step-father about lying about his work, and they get in to the physical fight, after that George run into Sally's house but he saw Dustin inside, George go home and find his mom crying outside and they talk the things that happen to each other, his consoles his mom and start to feel good. Monday  he go to school and gets each of his missing assignments to do, he just have 3 weeks to do all his assignment and taking his final exam. Sally send George a text message that she need to talk with George. They meet on restaurant and Sally said that they will go to Texas with his mom and this summer she will go to Europe with Dustin.

George is handling all of his requirement to the principal and the principal said he's going to check ha has them all, and he'll know if he graduates if he calls his name at the ceremony. George bring his artwork to his teacher, then the teacher give him a hug, at the ceremony George's name is called, and his mom is proud of him. After the ceremony George goes back  to the art classroom and stares at the picture which we see if of sally's smiling face. Sally walks in, says the picture is okay and they holding hands smiling and the end.

This movie is good to watch for a high school student like, they act the reality of  life.  This movie tough me that you have the power to paint your own life, your our future. When we really want something, we don't care about how many hours we spend to turn dreams into reality.

Use the people you love as a inspiration to the things your doing. “Anything is Possible” the 3 words that their principle said to him. Nothing is impossible if  you believe that you can.

The most powerful part of the movie is when  he go to school and gets each of his missing assignments to do, he just have 3 weeks to do all his assignment and taking his final exam. As a student it is not easy to do all your requirement to all subjects in just 3 weeks and after that your final exams, if I am the George in the movie maybe I will quit in my study and I will retake it on the another school year after what happen to his family, to his love life and to his studies. But George here is strong to fight the bad things the he encountered in his journey. He didn't quit to life, but he let the power of life to move and use this as inspiration. And turn his dreams to reality.

My favorite character in the movie is the Principal because in the movie hi did not pull down George to his dream but he help him to believe on his self. The part when he is sent to the principal's and the principal just talk to him calm and good not like the other principals they pull their students down to their dreams they kicked them out, they suspend them in little issues they don't give a chances for the students to believe. In this part the principal give him a many chances to change George and believe in his self and give him a power to their school to catch the students who is smoking inside the school compound. This type of leader that every students need or a person need. To give a many chances.

I never encounter a situation like this but maybe if I will encounter like this, “if” and I wish and I pray that I will not, but if I will , I will just do what George did, I  will go with the flow of life and use that it as inspiration life to achieve and made it.

Movie Review

Whiplash 2014

American film drama

Written and Directed by Damien Chazelle

This is a story is about of nineteen years  old boy who have a dream to become the greatest jazz drummer in the world.

This talented and passionate drummer named Andrew Nieman is practicing late at night at his school at New Your Music School, this school is one of the best in the country. While  his practicing Mr. Fletcher hear his drumming, Mr. Fletcher pauses, listen and give few orders on Andrew and moves out and seemingly dissatisfied with what he heard. Mr. Fletcher is one of   the most important teacher/conductor for its important jazz band. This scene the story started. Andrew as first year student he is selected by the school's senior instructor, Mr. Fletcher to play in his studio band. In that studio band Mr. Fletcher has only one expectation to his students that is nothing less perfection, he is a difficult, demanding teacher task master who accepts and expects nothing less perfection from his students, when the student don't meet that expectation he throw some objects at the and creating a level of tension sop high that average individuals would likely crumble under the pressure, and it leads to Andrew on the second or third day of their meeting he eventually quit surprise encounter with Fletcher gives him a chance to show just what he can accomplish, he slap and slap and slap the face of Andrew until Andrew knew what is wrong on the way he play that certain peace. When he got home he practiced and practiced himself without the threat of not just failure but physical violence. Fletcher uses that kind of technique on his students, playing mind games and physical torturing, when they started to practice, the drummers don't get or meet the expectations of Fletcher they practice the drum solo and until they hands bleeds.

So he get the part to compete for their school, Andrew is practicing inside the bus all the way to the Dunellen Competition and there while practicing the bus tire is begin to flat and he don't have  enough time to wait to fix that tires so he started to panic the stress and depress is in his mind he contact his professor of what  happened, he rented a car and start to drive all the way to Dunellen Competition when he meet the place his professor asking if where is his drum stick he started to find and he feels that he forgot it in the place where  he rented the car so he argued first on his professor, Mr. Fletcher and he run to get his own drum sticks after he get his drum stick, while driving going back to the competition he is depressed he don't know what is the thing that he will do next until he is bumped by the truck on the cross lane and after the crush he still pursue to go on the competition and play the drums, his playing the drums with a blood on his head and some other parts of his body, until his hand can't hold on the drum sticks and he can't play the right tempo and the right timing on that piece until Mr. Fletcher stops it and started to talk on  the judges and while talking  to judges Andrew try to punch his face.

And the next scene is the school representative or president of the secretary I don't know who is she but they talking about what happened on that day with the father of Andrew and Andrew it self they asking him of his mental and physical condition if what happen on him, if what is the cost of that crushed until Andrew say the truth if what is Mr. Fletcher doing on his students. Until Fletcher is kicked out on the school and Andrew is starting to forget his passion and dreams.

Many days has passed and Andrew while walking on the street he saw the poster that Mr. Fletcher is part of the band on the sing along bar, Andrew go on the place and he saw Fletcher playing a piano, they talk about what happen to Fletcher why he is being kicked on the school and Fletcher ask Andrew if he can play drums with the band of Fletcher and Andrew said yes. Andrew fell excited he call his father about it and on the night of it Andrew is started smiling to all of them and excited  to play the drums until Mr. Fletcher announce what their going to play in front of the famous people of the music industry and there's a surprise he don't no to play that music, it's final cruel ruse orchestrated by Fletcher, who wants to humiliate Andrew publicly by queuing him up to play the wrong music, the band started to play and he don't know what he is doing, until music that they are playing is done he is ashamed of himself in front of the people in the arena or theater room, he walked away and his father give him a hug to calm his son, but Andrew go back on the stage and while Mr. Fletcher is talking on the mike Andrew starts to play the the hardest song that many drummer can't do, so his playing it until he give a key to the bass to start and until Mr. Fletcher is also started to give a key for the band to start to play with Andrew. Andrew turns the table. He leads Fletcher's band into an incredible rendition of song he was prepared to play.  It's a powerful moment. The End

follow up questions 

This movie is one of the inspirational movie I have ever watched, this movie tough me that life isn't about how hard you can hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward! That the next champion never gets discouraged! We all have dreams, but “only some of us try hard to be incredible or at least far from mediocrity,” when we really want something, we don't care about how many hours we spend to turn dreams into reality.

The most powerful part of the movie is when Andrew din't give up for his dreams, in the last part of the movie the part that he don't know what he is doing, until it is done he is shame of himself in front of the people in the arena or theater room, he walked away and his father give him a hug to calm his son, but Andrew go back on the stage and while Mr. Fletcher is talking on the mike Andrew starts to play the the hardest music that many drummers can't do, so his playing it until he give a key to the bass to start and until Mr. Fletcher is also started to give a key for the band to start to play with Andrew. Andrew turns the table. He leads Fletcher's band into an incredible rendition of song he was prepared to play. It's a powerful moment. That part for me is the most powerful part of the story, he did not quit he just rested and after a while stand, believe in himself and pursue what he started and he achieved his goals.

My favorite character in the movie is Andrew Nieman,even if Andrew is endures a brutal, sustained campaign of bullying and abuse, both psychological and physical, at the hands of Fletcher, the conductor of his own band. He eventually washes out under the extreme pressure and, at the urging of his concerned father, anonymously gets. After what happen to him he still pursue his dreams. He turns the table on the way that he know. He achieved his dreams through his blood, sweet, love, passion, and believed in himself. That why he is my favorite character in this movie.

This thing had happen to me but in different scenario in different way, if Andrew here is first year collage with his brutal teacher, me I am only Grade 5 on that year, I have a teacher, her last name is Lacambra I don't remember her first name but this thing is happen to me, she is the   first one who slap my face at the age of 10 or 11,  she abuse her all pupils on that year and there is this time  that she get a knife and when you don't know the answer to her questions you will hold the knife, stand on your own chair and you will raise the knife on the air until our  other classmate din't also the answer, you will just past the knife on the one who don't know the answer. that Grade give me trauma, I did not tell it to my parents, until one day may dad saw a mark of pinch (pasa) on my back and he ask me if who did that, but I said my classmates did that but the truth is my teacher did it. I am being bullied on that grade, they bully me in physical and emotional, but that year has passed I can stand know, I became boulder, stronger because of what happen and now I am much better than the John Paul from Grade 5 to the John Paul now.

If I am given a chance to ask a certain question, I will ask this question to the character  Mr. Fletcher, if his child also encounter a brutal teacher like him, what action that he will do for his child?

Tech-Review

Hello again tumbler!!!! The last time that I posted here is about my self and know I will post or talk about my tech review my choose gadget is iPhone 6s, I don’t have iPhone 6s but what triggers me to chose this as my topic is because I have a friend who have a brand new iPhone 6s and I see that it is good in using it and the thing is almost all of my friends using iPhone. I research the some parts of it in internet for some clarifications.

I will talk about the design, screen (3D touch and live photos), iOS, Camera, Sound (music and movies/video and last the battery.

Design

The iPhone 6s design is good it is almost identical to the iPhone 6 in every way when it comes to its frame which the main parts is built. There are some very subtle differences, such as slightly thicker frame. All cases fit both phones, apart from a small S logo on the back of the phone, nobody is going to notice that you've got the latest iPhone. The design of its frame is bigger than iPhone 5s. Iphone 6s is made of 7000 series aluminum, and according to research it the strangest thing that it's ever used in iPhone contraction. The front of the phone is like its have a level before the glass and I think it is far from shattering when dropped on the floor. In holding this phone with the extra 14g over the iPhone it feels lightweight. The design of its volume buttons, the power key, the silencer and the speakers is design just like iPhone 6.

Screen.

The screen of it 4.7 inches the display is clear, bright, laminated to the glass and insanely colorful, the screen now has a third dimension, allowing you to poke into the display rather than just swiping all over it. It have 3D touch ability and the live photos is while the camera has been upgraded to 12MP, it will now grab a chunk of video before and after the snap and turn into a little video.

iOS

the iOS of iPhone 6s is iOS 10 it works very nicely to iPone 6s, one of my favorite here in this phone is the new platform of notification bar it sounds stupid but it is true it is because a simple drop down will see everything on your phone. I don't know the the latest  iOS that is in the market right now, but the iOS of my friend is iOS 10.

Camera

the camera of it is just like the past design of iPhone, with a new features to add just like the the live photos it is like a snap. It is good in taking videos and photos in your gadget because of the high quality of its camera.

Sound

iPhone is still one of the better devices out there for watching films or video and playing music. The sound and visual of the iPhone 6s is pretty good it is like “DOLBY” in your iPhone, a high class.

Battery

the cool part in the battery of iPhone is now provides more information about what is going on behind the scenes with the battery. This information will tell you what is reason why your losing battery that fast. For example the mobile data of my friend's phone is always open and it said there that is Facebook is taking most of battery and because FB is constantly updating even if she is not looking at her phone and the other apps also.

Its all about me

Hi tumbler!!!!! my first blog!!!!!

I am John Paul Ignacio Liban, 17 years of age from Tuguegarao, I am achild of  Albert Pagalilauan Liban and Marceline Ignacio Liban, we are 7 in the family I have 5 siblings, I am the second child. My birth date is August 4, 2000 we celebrate it twice a year, first is we celebrate it as a family we go on a certain place and celebrate it, second we celebrate it on the day of our town fiesta (august 16) and with our relatives, our friends, church mates, classmates and with our neighbors. When I was a kid we lived at Nagsabaran Amulung, Cagayan the place of my mom, my mom is Ilocano and my is Ybanag but I can't   speak/talk that much in their language but I can understand them. And when I was 6 or 7 we moved here at balzain the place of my dad, the place of all Liban, where liban's lived for a long time, because the names of the street here is Ausebio and Servando Liban St. Servanda and Ausebio is my great great grand father according to my lolo they became the governor of this province, the family Liban is one of the first families who lived here at tuguegarao, so I am proud that I am a liban and a tuguegaraoenious, any way lets move on, we have a family business it's name is APL tire supply, APL stands for Albert Pagalilauan Liban the name of my father, we have branches, one is our main branch in Pallua and the our second branch is in Tanza high way but they want to chage it “5J's” because we siblings we are all “J” named after the characters from the Bible, my ate's name is JeMarie, me John Paul and my brothers Jacob, Joshua and Jairus. We are all still studying my ate is pursuing her college degree at CSU carig taking Information Technology, my younger brorther Jacod is Grade 10 at Cagayan National High School, and my another younger brother is also studying at CNHS same as Jacob, he is Joshua, he is Grade 7 he belong to the Curriculum SPA stands for Special Program for the Arts, he is good in singing and lastly my youngest brother his name is Jairus he is now 9 years old Grade 3 at Tuguegarao East Central School, he is a dancer. We are all born again Christians, we all use our talents to serve the Lord. I am part of the youth leader in our church, my parents is part of the council, ate jem, jacob, and I are part of the dance ministry, I am the one who holds the dance ministry in our church and josh and jairus is part of the kids ministry, joshua is a vocal leader and one of the leaders at the kids band

I see my self seated on my own table with my name on the top of it “John Paul Ignacio Liban,CEO”, this name plate is on top of my own table in my own fully air-conditioned office, inside of my own high class building hahahah MAYAMAN!!! and I am busy traveling the world maybe first I will travel around the Philippines and next around Asia and round the world, I also have my own Family giving me more inspiration to do my work well. But as for I will just first focus my attention on my studies, I will study well so that, that dreams that I have, I can achieve it. And wait my mom and dad give me a small business it is my part time job, I sell perfume, my mom and dad teaching me how to hold my own  money, how this money grow in my own hands and they teaching me how to be a sufficient person.

That is the reason why I choose the ABM strand because I want to become a successful business man. That strand is the best for me, for my opinion because I know that this strand can give the knowledge that I need for my future.

Every strand is best on their own way they have their own uniqueness, its up to the students how they manage it and live with it. Just follow their passion and their heart if what they want to their future, since we are born in this world we have this what we call “free will” you are free to decide the things that you want for your own self. Its up to you if you want to become a business man like me, or a doctor someday, or a attorney, its up to you if what you want to wright on your future.

Any way the course that I will take up on collage is accountancy or Business Management major in Finance because just like what I said on the first part we have a family business and our family is living in business path so I just want to follow that path that my parents starts. And that is what I imagine, seeing my self seating on my own office.  

So that’s it for my first blog here in tumbler I hope you like. The thing that I want to learn more from this subject is how to build my own game and how to fix some certain gadgets maybe that’s all. I just want to know how you manage your time, how you divide your time in school and in your social life? May you teach please teach me how. Thank you!!!
