I've been having thoughts about this for quite a while.

Why do we only adopt when we're unable to reproduce? Adoption could solve a few major problems and make the orphans' life a lot better.

There’s a lot of social pressure to “rescue” a shelter pet instead of going to a breeder, but none to adopt a kid in foster care instead of making a new one.
