I adore you too much to hate you now
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna x afab! brown reader
This short fic is written mostly in second person PoV. Character has a name but it's not heavily used. I'm about to ferally self-insert into the following work.
The fic is set in a feudal time period so there are themes of prostitution and non-con/dub-con included.
Tumblr media
Minors, DNI. Word count: 2.9k.
CW: themes of bloodshed, prostitution, scars, little bit of non-con/dub-con, description of smut, oral sex (f! receiving), voyeurism, auralism, submission, worship, PIV, Sukuna's true form (no smut with true form); Uraume is an Oiran (with they/them pronouns) [no, I won't explain it]
Tumblr media
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who fucks a different working woman of the household every night because none of them satisfies him enough for a double take. Concubines visit his palace in rotations. Some never make their way out.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who despises the cooks in his household — why is the rice never soft, curry too salty, fish not salted enough, soba soggy, desserts always dry? He has killed many a cook, replaced them with new ones, only to be disappointed in a different way.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who does not care who is hired in the kitchens, in the lawns, to clean, to wash his clothes, to keep it all running, but turns the house upside down if anything in his chambers is out of place.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who switches between his real form and human form depending on who he's with. Only Uraume has ever seen his true form, the Oiran who trains and dresses the girls before sending them to Sukuna's bed.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who takes one bite of a non-Japanese cuisine and his eyes blow wide in wonderment. He demands to see the cook immediately.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who looks at you once, drinks in all your amber glory with his lustful gaze, before asking, "What's for dessert?" You still haven't learned to speak or understand Nihongo so you must rely on Uraume-hime to talk on your behalf. All you know is to keep your sight fixed on the Lord's feet. Puny, filthy humans must never lock eyes with Sukuna-sama. Nobody told you so but you came to that conclusion yourself by the way the Oiran kept pushing your head down while in the Lord's chambers.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who groans, shifts in his seat when Uraume-hime tells him something in Nihongo. Before you know it, your hands are being pulled by two other women. You are laid on your back, the hem of your robe pushed up to your hips. You pull your thighs tight together, whispering words of resistance in your tongue, words unintelligible to the Lord.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who is intrigued by your foreignness. In his thick, all-knowing voice, he asks you something from between your legs. In his language, but you've been asked this before several times so you know the answer. "Anata no namaê wa?" He asks. You still can't see his face.
And you answer, Aparajita. The name of a beautiful blue flower laid at your God's feet as an offering. Literal meaning, unconquered. Your mother had given you the name, in hopes that you won't end up on the same path as herself. That you will escape the brothels of Bengal and find your own place in the world. Her dreams had come quite true, you had escaped. Only to then find yourself at the mercy of a creature you didn't quite understand.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who plays with your name on his tongue while his fingers play on your clit. Your hips have to be held down by Uraume-hime because of how much he's making you shiver with the most minimal touches. You've grown up in a bordello, even spent a night in a Japanese bathhouse before finding this job in Sukuna-sama's kitchen, but never have you heard of the woman being on the receiving end of pleasure.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who holds lengthy discussions with Uraume-hime while three of his fingers are knuckle-deep inside you. You have a palm over your mouth to keep you from gasping out but it's promptly removed by one of the women. When you look at her, she has nothing to say, only knotted eyebrows and a gaze filled with guilt. You know this will probably happen again, maybe you will be the one holding someone down, and you'll have the same guilt on your face.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who delights in the sound of you, pauses all conversations and trains his ears to your honeydew voice. When he places his mouth on your flesh, the pleasure tears you apart. Needy moans leak from your lips while he laps at you, taking his fill of dessert.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who wants you in his chambers every night now. And he wants you to understand what he's saying without Uraume translating and gesturing. It wastes a lot of time. Time he'd rather spend burying his cock down your pretty, mauve pussy. So he gets you a tutor. You are to spend your days learning Nihongo — initially spoken language only — and cooking for Sukuna-sama, and nights in his bed, face down, ass up, crying as loud as you can because that's what gets him off. Your voice.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who doesn't realize how long it has been since he's seen a different woman. You satiate him, more than enough.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who doesn't realize that he's slowly starting to wonder if he's enough for you. He watches you all day from the landing of his first floor quarters as you do your duties in the yard. Your dedication to learning a new language just for his sake is mesmerizing. How your delicate fingers wrap around the stem of the brush as you learn to draw the alphabet. The way your lips move as you repeat the tutor's words. When you sit down to cook for him, your leadership invigorates him. You assign jobs to others, teach the new hires how to mix spices, dice vegetables, stoke the coal until it's burning bright. He curses under his breath when the fire iron lands on the side of your feet, scalding your skin, making you hiss out in pain.
You laugh it off when someone brings you a mug of water, the sound of your joy enchanting to Sukuna-sama. He decides the fate of that coal poker. You're busy wrapping a piece of cloth around your wound when, out of nowhere, the iron rod catches on crimson hot fire. It scares your colleagues but you know exactly whose work that is.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who heals your wound when you're lying in his bed, freshly fucked, your back facing him since you're still not allowed to look at him. You've tried to leave wordlessly several nights but his strong arms have held you back, whispering a stern yet somehow soft "Tomaru." So you leave in the mornings and he watches with sleepy eyes as you drape your saree around yourself, clean and fix his bedchamber before leaving. He is a tiger when he fucks — he'd lay you down on any flat surface, take as long as he wants. The only criteria is he should be able to hear you. It's only collateral that the room would be in absolute disarray, left for you to fix lest Sukuna-sama's wrath befalls the entire household.
You sit up, alarmed, when you feel his hand on your feet. In your culture, only a child touches a woman's feet. Definitely not the Lord of the house, and definitely not the man whose bed you sleep in every night. He may not be human anymore, but he is your King, he is who you submit to. In a way, Sukuna-sama is your God and you are the flower at his feet.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who doesn't know that all his efforts and adjustments are being duly noted and silently appreciated. You wanted to wear sarees and ghagras instead of the furisode so Uraume-hime allowed it, even going to the extent of bringing in a tailor for you; you knew it was not their decision to make. When he noticed the dryness of your hands, of your back, he ordered for butter and cream to be made in abundance so the women of the household can use them for cosmetic purposes. The only woman he cared to have softer skin was you. When a beggar invaded your kitchen, he brought his trident to the doorway only to find them with a plate full of food, relinquishing their appetite. He may be a King, but you are his Goddess of peace, surfeit, pleasure, warmth — everything, everything nice.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who wants to know the color of your eyes — see for himself, not hear from Uraume how black your pupils are, it's like you absorb all the light of the world and reflect nothing back. It's not subtle that the Oiran despises you but Sukuna-sama knows they won't let a finger on you without his permission.
It's not like you've never looked at him. When he paces the yard in his crimson and black robe, sometimes in his white and blue robe, you're taken aback by his form, his posture, his powerful gait. The thick black lines on his face and wrists have always made you curious. The extra pair of eyes add a layer of smugness to his persona. One night, when he is tossing and turning in his sleep, you find yourself driven by urges you can't describe, to look at him. You give in. His broad back is marred by scars — slashes, burns, puncture wounds galore. And that forms more questions in your mind. If he can heal you, why doesn't he heal himself?
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who has always fucked you from behind, been satisfied with your voice guiding him to your peaks and lows. But tonight, he wants to see your face contort with pleasure when he settles his thick cock inside you. All his conviction flies out the window when he looks at you, helpless, shaking, not knowing where to look because nobody prepared you for this. He loses control, hungrily kissing your lips — something he has never done before — leaving marks on your jaw and neck. When he grabs your tits, and sinks his teeth on your fat, you cry out. You didn't know having the Lord feed on you would drive you so crazy, it would coax something unthinkable out of your mouth. Moans and gasps go eat grass, Sukuna-sama didn't know being called his name by his lovely, honey-skinned lover could send him deeper into his void of lust. And not just any name. Not even Sukuna-sama. You whisper, Ryo-sama. Ryo-sama. Like you've been thinking about this ever since he first touched you. Like you've been saying this name behind your sealed lips all these nights. He hasn't been called Ryo for years, never by anybody other than his human mother.
You've done it now. This is as far as you go, as far as your mother's ambitious naming could push you. When he pulls out of you and makes you sit up, all you know to do is bow to him, forehead touching the floor between the two of you. "Sumimasen. Sumimasen. Sumimasen, Sukuna-sama." You keep whispering in your awkward yet earnest accent.
He shifts on his knees, awkward for the first time ever in his immortality. "Look at me."
You keep your eyes trained to the ground, shaking your head.
"Look at me, Paro." His voice is surprisingly mild, like he's only amused. Paro is his name for you, chosen at first for convenience during moments of passion, but soon it became a name of ownership, nobody else could call you Paro, and now... it's something else.
"Is this a test, my Lord?" You're scared. You've been scared of him before. This is not something new.
"Look at me."
"You can make me look at you whenever you want, my Lord."
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who has never apologized to anyone, never pleaded. He never needed to, he is the King. He is so powerful, his blood boiling with cursed magic, he can take several lives with a flick of his wrist, instill fear in the common man just by revealing his true form. Here he is, sitting in front of a woman who cooks for him, keeps his household tidy, his cock warm. You have him wrapped around your pinky; you could poison his food, castrate him when he's hard, stab him once he's asleep with you in his arms. But you don't. You've either lost hope in life or your heart to him. He hopes it's the latter.
"P-please." He says under his breath. "Please look at me, Paro."
Your eyes shoot up in disbelief. The Lord pleading with you? Begging you? If Uraume-hime hears of it, they'd make sure you don't live to see another day. But, you don't care. Right now, you're swimming in the blood sea of your Ryo-sama's eyes. What a crime it is to have kept this vision from you! You don't want to look at anything else ever again. But your heart is feeble. You're afraid if you stare, you will end up offending him. So you try to look away but he catches your face in his grasp, squeezing your chin, tilting it up. He breathes on your face, on your mouth. "Is there anything in your heart for me?"
You nod. Not because you're scared of the consequences of telling him otherwise, not because you have nowhere else to go, but because it's true.
"You adore me?"
You nod again.
"Look at me, Paro. I don't want to have to tell you that again." You meet his eyes. "This is not my true form. I conceal it so as to not scare you."
"You scare me enough already, my Lord."
Sukuna laughs. After months of being in each other's company, you finally feel the tension easing. "I don't have a heart, Paro, but there's a warmth in me, somewhere, for you too. Maybe it is love."
"Maybe only lust."
"I've lived long enough to know the difference."
You avert your gaze and bow to him again. "Sumimasen, Sukuna-sama. I shouldn't have questioned you." You touch his feet like your mother had taught you to do with elders and idols of Gods and Goddesses. He is both to you. You're not sure where he learnt it from but every time you have done this before, he has placed a hand on your head, as if to bless you. This time, he takes your wrist to his mouth to kiss it.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who wants to trust you with his true form. He wants to tell you how he came to be cursed with that body, what he had done to deserve immortality, an eternity of wealth, monstrous glory and fame but also peerless, loveless, cold torture. He wants you by his side, not for a brief era of his limbo, but forever. Yet, he's sure you wouldn't want that kind of power. Your strength is in your altruism. To ask you to be by his side for centuries, maybe even millenia, will be to burden you, to keep you from ten where angels like you belong.
"Do you want me to see your true form, my Lord?" You read his mind.
"Would you like to see the real me? Aren't you afraid? I'm sure you've heard Uraume talk about it."
You toy with the answer in your head for some time. You are afraid. But you know he is probably more scared. So you ask, "Are you afraid I'll be repulsed, my Lord?"
He doesn't answer. You know him more than he wants to admit.
"I adore you too much to hate you now, my Lord." You confess. In a bold stunt, you raise yourself on your knees and put your hands around his neck. You can feel your shoulders tense in fear. But when his arms engulf you, you relax a little. You place your lips near his, desperate for his touch and he gives it to you. He kisses you fervently, smooches after smooches, tongues over each other, his strong hands kneading your skin because he needs your skin.
You gasp when it happens. It's not slow. It starts with the loving pads of his fingers being replaced by sharp nails. He holds your head tightly to his as he changes, denying you a glance until he's fully transformed. Your legs detach from the floor when he picks you up, hooking your feet behind his waist. You feel yourself rising against gravity, your thighs being pulled apart to capacity around his abdomen. All is still well, until you feel two more hands on you, something rough on your face, and something wet and slimy against your belly.
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna who has never been ashamed, intimidated, now looking at you, wondering what you think of the villain who stands in front of you, asking you to love him regardless of how vile he is. You... you still want him, that's all there is to it. You look at his four muscular arms, the ghastly mask covering half of his face, the tongue sticking out of his abdomen, and most surprisingly, his two penises, and you still want him. All you're thinking of is how you can pleasure this him. He kneels in front of you, an act of submission, and he's still as tall as you are standing. You finally understand why only his bedroom has such a high roof.
You take his face in your hands, both the softer, a little human side and the rough, grotesque side, and you declare, "Ryo-sama, I will start a religion in your name, carve an idol akin to your true form, and tell people of your ire and also your sincerity. If you let me."

a/n:: I've felt mentally drained so I'm going to finish this dang chapter holy frick did this take so long :D
. . .
Thank you for reading this bit! Enjoy! ❤️
. . .
Sleep didn't come easy to you, and it was expected. Seeing Sukuna in his vulnerable state, having him confirm a small doubt in your mind, and having Shoko spur on your aching heart.
It was a hard pill to swallow, but you needed to force it. You can't force someone to love you back.
Sukuna had his reasons, and it didn’t concern you in the slightest. You told yourself that as much as possible when you felt the need to say something to him after lessons and classes, or do simple things like ask about his day. When you wanted to ask, you bit your tongue and stayed silent. Sticking to the normal day to day chit chat between classmates.
Don’t bug him more than you already do. You say to yourself as you lift your fist up and knock on the door a few times.
There was a quiet "enter" from his side of the door, and when you did as told you didn't see Sukuna in the living room or kitchen like normal.
"Sukuna?" You asked, confusion filling your brain. You continued to wander around the dorm until Sukuna's bedroom door opened up, revealing a disheveled man.
His hair a mess, t-shirt lopsided and somewhat dirty, and boxers on full display. You quickly averted your eyes, trying to save Sukuna his dignity. "Hello to you too."
He waved before heading into his bedroom to change and look cleaner. Moving yourself to your usual space on the couch, you pulled out your things and started flipping through a notebook.
There was almost no noise, besides the random grunts of Sukuna shuffling through his things. Even your thoughts going quiet and jumbled with the notes in your book. Writing things down and not noting the shadow being cast over you by Sukuna.
"Hey, what're you working so hard on?" His voice broke your train of thought, making you look up at him.
"Uhm, tutoring?" You responded, a questioning tone in your voice. "Why?"
Sukuna sighed, resting his cheek against his fist, maroon eyes scanning your figure. "Don't you wanna have fun instead?"
The question catches you off guard and you chuckle, patting his knee in an almost loving manner. "I don't think you should have fun until you get better grades."
"God, you sound like my mother!"
You crinkle your nose as Sukuna's rather modest laughter fills the air. It had been a while since you saw a smile.
With a sigh, you straightened your posture and started to the session, seeing Sukuna's eyes begin to glaze over in a bored pout. You didn't like doing much studying either, but keeping your grades up mattered to you.
Sukuna knew this, watching you diligently work with him to help. So determined..
——
"..How are your parents?" He asked, his eyes lazily looking towards you.
It had been an hour since the tutoring had started that day, and Sukuna's mind was elsewhere. It was dull, the schedule he has wrapped himself into. It was the same thing everyday, seeing the hundreds of students around campus and ending up stuck in his dorm with you.
Talking about equations and random stuff he was already familiar with became tedious. Even though he was willing just to see you.
Never say that out loud though.
"Oh, they're fine," You answered, a slightly confused look on your face as you tapped the cap of your red pen on the notebook.
Sukuna raised a brow, scooting himself closer into your space, a small smile on his face. "That's not specific enough. I wanna know how they're doing."
I just told you– "Well, my dad's working on some project for the house apparently. He wanted to make a garden for it."
"Your dad's still the plant guy, huh?"
You pout your lips as Sukuna's curled into a smirk. "Not always. He got into sports cars for some reason, even though he's a planet health guy."
Sukuna chuckles at this before starting to write a few things down in his notebook. You grumble with a slightly warm flush filling your cheeks. Either way, you couldn't really complain much, his smirk made you feel warm inside.
"Are you done with the questions I gave you?" You asked, leaning your head over and bumping your cheek against Sukuna's shoulder.
"Yeah, the last one stumps me though.."
After teasing him for a few moments about his blunders and getting side eyed for the next twenty minutes, you eventually were able to explain the problem before Sukuna pointing out how late it had gotten.
"I could order a pizza and you just sleep over again." He said as he put away his things, placing a hand on his hip. "It'd be best, this dorm is filled with shit drunk guys."
"Aw, you're so sweet," You responded, lifting your bag over your shoulder strap while hiding all the giddy cuteness inside you. "But it's just a five minute walk to my place. I'll be fine!"
There was a hostile look of discontent in his maroon eyes that read: How dare you say no to me?
A confused shiver was sent down your spine before you sighed and pat Sukuna's arm, heading towards the door. "I'll text you when I get home, promise."
Letting out a small grunt, Sukuna eventually caved and you went home. Although he did threaten that he'll give you a stern talking to if he didn't get a text.
He's got more layers than an onion.*
Though, as you made your way home, you bumped into someone. His hair was messy, sunglasses barely hanging onto his head with his hair pushed back, and pants dirtier than your crustiest sock. But his pink cheeks and glossy eyes didn't betray you in recognizing one of your weirdest friends to date.
"Satoru? What are you doing out?" You place a hand on the males exposed forehead and humming to yourself. "..Are you high, drunk, or sick?"
With a delayed reaction, a hiccup, and a pout, you got this. "My girl, you're judgy so muchy~ Let me life without demands!"
You raise a brow and scoff. I know he'll regret this drinking in the future.
"Fine, but I have to go home now," You say, patting the disheveled mans shoulder, a smile on your face. "Don't trip walking up those stairs!"
But as you said goodbye, Gojo leaned in and placed a soft peck on your cheek with surprising accuracy. You blink in confusion as Gojo smiles loosely and pets your head. "Don't hurt yourself either, Miss best friend chaser!"
Before words could process, or a thought was able to work the cogs in your headspace, there was a grunt and a very big "someone's jaw might have gotten broken" sound.
. . .

Thank you for reading this bit! Enjoy~
. . .
After you had woken up from last night in Sukuna’s arms, you got up to take a small shower. Even though you didn’t want to think about it, it made its way into your mind. What Sukuna had said, the way he touched your body and kissed your neck. Why he mumbled little things like “you’re mine” made your heart ache.
How could you give up on Sukuna when he says things like that?
Reaching down to grab some shampoo, you slick your hair back and start to lather the soapy substance into your hair. You lift your head back and scrub all the worries and thoughts from your mind.
But wishing the thoughts away, or the touches you shared, wasn’t going to change anything. Yes, you managed to defuse the situation, but it wasn’t with a little work.
Sukuna’s mumbling replayed in your mind as you finished washing last night’s events off. Quickly grabbing one of his shirts to borrow and wearing your pants from the night before, you went to his kitchen and looked for something that’d be good for a hangover and breakfast.
You had managed to find some eggs and bacon, adding in some coffee as a drink for Sukuna. Eventually, the sounds of Sukuna showering surfaced as you were plating the meal and adding some butter to a slab of toast you just finished toasting.
"Morning," You heard Sukuna grumble from the hallway.
Seeing that he was clearly hungover and hungry, you guided him to his living room and placed his meal and coffee onto the coffee table in front of him. Also giving him a pat on the back, you went to grab your food to join him. He wasn’t visibly upset by the events of the other night, making you wonder if he really cared at all what happened.
Wasn’t it nerve wracking for him too? Didn’t it make him upset or nervous?
You didn’t get your answer for another few days. Not a text, nor a call. Even during classes, Sukuna was either not attending or he was taking a sick day. It worried you, since he had started skipping his tutoring lessons too. Concerned for his health, and all around well-being, you decided that stopping by with a few gifts would make him feel better.
After classes and work, you took another moment to send Sukuna a text that you’d be stopping by for a few minutes with some Advil for his headache. Although you felt it was cringey, you grabbed him some stomach medicine as well, making your way over to the male’s dorm a little after 10:30 pm.
You knocked on the door of Sukuna’s dorm and patiently waited for some kind of sign that he was home, and awake. Though, you doubted after a while of waiting. Making you wonder if he was intentionally ignoring you after the kiss. You didn’t blame him, if you kissed him and told him he was yours, you’d want to stop talking to him out of embarrassment.
“Sukuna?” You tried after a minute or two of waiting, knocking again before there was a click and the door began to slowly creak open.
Seeing a tired, and disgruntled Sukuna behind it, with messy hair and hoods under his eyes, you let out a small coo of pity. He looked worn out and stressed, making you feel guilty for making him look like this. Sukuna, though, took a breath and mumbled a small greeting before letting you into his home.
“I’m sorry about not going to class,” He finally said, as if to defuse the awkwardness between you. “I haven’t been feeling well, I might’ve caught some bug.”
“Oh, really?” You asked, looking around the living room and seeing tissues strewn across the couch and coffee table. “I thought it was something else. Sorry for bothering you, I just came to tell you about the assignments you were missing.”
Sukuna hummed, sitting back down on his small throne of warm blankets and dirty tissues. “Ah, alright. I noticed you texted me too. Did you really bring Advil? It’d help right about now..”
You nod and sit next to Sukuna on the couch, handing him the bag you brought with you. Inside sat a small container of Advil, a bottle of water, some quick and easy to make chicken noodle soup. He looked at the bag’s contents before handing you the soup and taking out the water and medicine.
“Can you make this for me?” He asked, opening the Advil and water, taking a pill and a sip before laying back on the pillow he had under his head. “You can make yourself something too, but I haven’t been shopping yet.”
“Oh, that’s fine,” You said, standing and heading to the kitchen. “I’ll go out while you’re asleep to get you some things!”
You heard a grunt of disapproval that made you giggle, grabbing a pot from the cupboard and turning on the heat. Turning your attention to Sukuna, you see him lying face up with a pained expression. He looked more tired and ill than you’ve ever seen him before; even as a child it was hard for Sukuna to even get something small.
Half the time, you thought he was invincible while you got the cold a lot during the snowy season.
“The soup should be done in a few minutes,” You announced, walking around the living room and gathering the dirty tissues that littered the room. Grimacing, Sukuna nodded as you got closer. “Let me get your temperature too, just to be safe.”
“Fine,” He grumbled, taking a few steady breaths as you sat down and pressed a cold hand to his forehead. “Mm, your hand feels really nice.”
“‘Cause you’re burning up!” You exclaimed, quickly standing to grab the chicken noodle soup and return with a bowl prepared for Sukuna to eat. “Here, eat some of this okay? I’ll go get you some food for your fridge.”
Sukuna shook his head, sitting up to start eating. “No, that’s fine. I already feel pathetic for your help enough.”
Pathetic? Sukuna? Nah, that couldn’t be true.
“Don’t get all stubborn and pissy with me,” You said, a firm frown placed on your face as Sukuna ate. “Just because you’re sick doesn’t make you pathetic.”
There was a distant look that crossed Sukuna’s face before he went quiet and put down the bowl of soup. “It’s not that I’m sick.”
After waiting for a few minutes for an explanation, you dropped the conversation even though you knew exactly what he was talking about. That kiss. He probably regretted it, or thought what he said was stupid and childish. You pat Sukuna’s shoulder as he looks up at you, a confused expression now on his face.
“Now’s not the best time to talk about that,” You muttered, smiling warmly at the grumpy man. “You need to focus on getting better, and then tutoring for the next few days. Alright?”
Sukuna slowly nods, taking in your words. You didn’t need an explanation right now. Waiting a little while wouldn’t kill you.
“..Okay,” Sukuna muttered, finishing his food and laying back down. Watching you stand and gather your things before leaving the small apartment like home.
You left the male’s dorm to go grab some more medicine when you got a text message. Quickly, you climbed into your car and picked up your phone. It was from Yuji. Thinking back, it had been almost a month since you had last spoken to him on the phone. That is, if you included all the studying you were doing for tests and such.
Yuji- Hey, Y/n! I was wanting to ask you something about Sukuna?
You tilted your head in confusion, wondering if Sukuna had told him about what happened. Maybe he did? No, he’d probably keep something like that secret. Then again, you barely know him now. You’d never know.
You- Yeah? What’s up?
You also added another small excuse for your absence and you almost immediately got a response. The conversation started with Yuji asking about Sukuna’s grades, which you thought were pretty tame and understandable, so you told him point blank what was happening.
You- Sukuna’s kinda struggling in some classes, so my professor asked for me to tutor him. He’s getting better though. Did he tell you he got sick at all?
Yuji- Ah man! That explains it I suppose… I was wondering where he went after telling me what happened between y’all. ><;;
And just like that, you knew your suspicions were confirmed. With a sigh, you asked what he meant for confirmation:
Yuji- He told me about that party. He said something to a guy named Fushiguro about you and him. It was a really random convo, but I thought you knew already?
You were kind of confused for a moment, although you did see them talking you assumed it was about something else. Never did you think it was about you and Sukuna. Starting up the car, you dialed Yuji’s number and waited for him to answer. After a few moments, Yuji’s cheerful voice rang from your phone and you put the device to your cheek. Pulling out of the parking lot, you ask Yuji what Sukuna had talked about.
“It’s the first time we’ve talked on a phone!” Yuji chuckled. “A little weird, but I think I’ll get used to it, haha!”
You laughed with Yuji, starting to drive to the drug store. “I know, it’s a little weird for me too.”
There was a small silence before Yuji brought up the conversation Sukuna had with him.
“He told me that Fushiguro gave him some advice about y’alls relationship. Something like, ‘Just tell her what you’re feeling’, I think. Knowing my brother though, he’d keep all those feelings inside, and nudging him would just piss him off.”
You nodded, as if Yuji would see it, pulling into the parking lot of a local grocery store. The lights were dim, but it was quite apparent to you that it was still open. You unbuckled yourself and stepped out of the car, quickly putting your keys away and making note of what to buy.
“Sorry if this is really sudden, but..” You mumbled, walking through the rows of parked cars and vacant spots, lowering your voice slightly. “How were you and Sukuna after I left?”
You were rewarded with a small silence, a sigh and then a response: “It’s complicated.”
“I can handle complicated things, Yuji.”
He grumbled, but you understood why. The situation that they were in while you all lived there was rather harsh. Sukuna and Yuji’s dad was in a constant drunken state, making your parents worry a little about your safety and their’s. Often offering help to the boys whenever they needed a break from their father’s yelling and abuse. Although they couldn’t take Sukuna and Yuji in, they ended up like their second parents.
Sukuna and Yuji loved your parents as much as they adored you, and it filled you with guilt now that you were unable to mend things for the past. Even though you couldn’t, you were determined to make it up to Sukuna, to Yuji.
Half of you felt like you were trying to mend your own broken ego, but the other half was telling you that you owed it to them. Unable to swallow down that guilt, you began to accept it as Yuji started to talk to you about the events that transpired after your move.
“While I didn’t have many problems other than our old man, Sukuna kinda..” Yuji trailed, exhaling probably a lot of emotions he didn’t want to feel. “He went out of control, really.
“He got into lots of fights at school, got suspended a lot. Sometimes, he’d yell at me when he wasn’t in a good mood. Started smoking with the older kids. It was a lot for him.”
There was another pause as you got into the shopping area, pushing a cart in front of you and looking at the items that lined the shelves. Looking from ramen to other assorted things you felt were alright, you began to pile some basic things into the cart.
“Sukuna almost dropped out,” Yuji cut into your train of thought, making you stop suddenly in shock. Phone shaking in your hand and making some passerby glance at you with a confused and concerned look on their faces. “He didn’t, don’t worry. He made it to college, didn’t he?”
You pressed your brows and lips together and a frustrated pout. He’s barely passing though. He was gone for a lot of the year and is taking even more sick days right now.
You didn’t tell Yuji this, seeing as it’d worry him. “Y/n?”
“Sorry, I’m shopping right now,” You say sheepishly, laughing weakly as you make your way over to another aisle and looking through a bunch of small pre-made meals that Sukuna might enjoy. “Go ahead, continue.”
“Alright.” Yuji responded, although he whined about bothering you which made you smile. “So, now, I suppose you can say that he’s doing well. He’s still smoking and shit, but that’s expected since it’s a habit. He’s working on it though.”
You let out a small hum, looking through the protein section, gathering what you thought would be good for some breakfast meat. Once Yuji voiced his concern about your silence, you reassured that you were alright.
“I promise, Yu.” You said, stopping once again as you continued to chat on the phone. “Sorry for bringing that stuff up again for you, I know it can be a little hard to talk about it–”
“It’s okay,” Yuji says in an attempt to calm you, with a boyish giggle ringing out from your speaker. “To be completely honest, it helped me relax a little while talking about it. Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.”
A burn in your heart rested heavy in your chest. The feeling of guilt and worry made you ache, knowing that Sukuna had every right to want nothing to do with you. But the gratitude you felt for it was unimaginable. It was like it lifted your spirits, knowing Sukuna was still there to help if something went wrong. Yuji and you continued to talk on the phone for another few minutes– more like an hour or so –until you were in line to purchase your items.
Once you got to the cashier, you smiled. “I’ll see ya soon, Yuji.”
“Mhm, c’ya!”
“Having a good day, hun?” said the woman at the register. Her messy dark hair up in a very loose bun. Her dark eyes shimmering with a sleepy delight.
“Yea, it’s alright so far,” You answered as she started scanning your items. Looking through your pocket, you pulled out your wallet and began looking for your card. “I’ll be paying with a card.”
She nods at this, bagging things up as she rang your receipt and total. In the midst of this, you looked down at the shirt that you had borrowed from Sukuna. Realizing quickly that you still needed to return it even if you didn’t really want to. It smelled just like him, an almost calming smell that made your heart flutter.
“22.35 is your payment.”
Running the card through the small scanner, you started grabbing bags and piled them back into the cart. Tugging at the ends of the large shirt and pushing the shopping cart outside to where you parked. It had been almost twenty minutes since you got to the store when your phone buzzed with a notification in your back pocket.
You got back into the vehicle and paused to look at the message, seeing Sukuna’s name on your lock screen. “He texted me?”
He’s so sick, I hope he doesn’t end up pushing himself..
The text consisted of a small thank you and to text him when you were finished. While you didn’t think it was much, you decided to text him back.
You– I just got finished. I’ll be coming by shortly. I need to return your shirt to you too lol
Starting up the engine once again you pulled out of the parking spot, making your way over to the main road and turning on your blinker. Your phone buzzed again, but you decided to wait until you got to your college before looking at it. Thoughts raced through your head as you drove back home.
What should you tell Sukuna when you see him? Apologizing wouldn’t do much since it’s already too late, it’d be worth the shot though. You sigh, slowing down as you near your destination.
Sitting in the car quietly and taking a moment to breath and work through all the events that’s happened. You pick up your phone and see Sukuna’s name again, unlocking the device and going to messages to see his text.
Sukuna– Keep it. I’ve been meaning to get rid of it anyways.
There was a small tingle in your body, a shiver that ran up your spine. Unable to make out what this shiver was, you looked down at the dark clothing piece. Seeing an old band name with a few small holes in the bottom of the shirt around the hem, ending just at your mid thigh. It was worn out, a random shirt you grabbed, but it felt like it was more than that to you.
You responded with a small okay, quickly getting out of the car and collecting the groceries. It took a few tries, but you managed to get all the things you purchased up to the male’s dorm.
“Sukuna, I’m back,” Knocking on the door, you waited for a few moments with shaky arms. The weight of all the food was making you tired at this point, and when Sukuna opened the door you rushed inside to put the bags on the counter.
“Haahh!! Finally!”
A shocked expression was written on the sick man’s face mixed with an amused smirk. He closed the door and made his way over to you, looking through all the bags and then at you, taking in your panting figure and chuckling weakly.
“I told you before, you didn’t need to do this.”
“Shush, just accept it,” You sighed, with a small smile on your face in return.
Sukuna rolled his eyes and put down the blanket that covered him on the couch before he started helping you put up things. You bickered and whined about him helping you, but he told you it didn’t matter and that it’d be done faster if he helped. Reluctantly, you agreed and continued putting things in the fridge.
After everything was put away, you turned back and bumped into Sukuna. His maroon eyes angled downward, connecting with yours. Silence clouded over you and him, the air becoming thick again as you both stood in the middle of his kitchen.
“Y’know that it was nothing, right?” He eventually mumbled, his breathing low and voice deep. Sukuna’s words made your stomach churn, an uncomfortable feeling that you didn’t really like boiling in the pit of your gut.
You averted your eyes, pressing your lips together and breaking eye contact. Despite your silence, he continued, crossing his arms as well. “I was drunk, and acted without thinking.”
“..Thought so,” You mumbled quietly, clasping your hands behind your back. “I’ll see you later.”
It had been days since it had happened, and bringing it up so suddenly made you uncomfortable. Your heart ached, your stomach hurt. Everything was in pain. It tore you to bits, but you understood where he was coming from.
He doesn’t want me to get my hopes up.
So, after you had gotten your things and said a quick goodbye, you headed over to your dorm. A heavy heart laid bare in your chest, an ache that you felt wouldn’t be able to heal by tomorrow. With each step farther and farther away from him made the strings inside pluck a sad tune. You had denied you wanted any sort of thing for Sukuna, and for it to be returned, but even so you felt the pain was too much. Too much for your fragile heart, weak mind.
Unlocking the door to your home, you pushed open the door to the smell of pizza and chicken.
“Shoko?” You try, taking a few steps inside and looking around before spotting her in the kitchen. “What are you doing?”
“Just getting some things made for you.” She answered, pushing a place of your favorite pizza and some hot wings with ranch towards you on the counter. “You were missing for a few days, hun. Got me wondering what happened to you.”
With a distasteful sigh, you grab the plate and make your way into the living room and she follows. Sitting on the couch with you and waiting silently to hear any form of a response. You didn’t want to talk, but letting the heartache sit and fester like a disease wouldn’t do you any good.
“I visited Sukuna,” You finally mumble, taking a bite of pizza and letting the flavors sit in your mouth for a moment before swallowing. “He’s sick, so I brought him a few things and some food.”
“...And?” She pressed, scooting closer while her show continued to play on the T.V.
“And nothing. I just said goodbye and will see him later.”
The response obviously didn’t make her happy, her brows pressing together slightly before she huffed and rested her cheek on your fist. Letting her elbow hang from the top of the couch, relaxing her body into the cushions. “That’s odd. Aren’t y’all a thing?”
You cringed. Getou probably said something like that. No, Gojo.
“No. Just friends.”
Shoko shrugged, stealing one of your wings and looking at the T.V. “You two looked like you were dating.”
Whatever that meant, you didn’t let it get to you. No matter how much it made you blush or it made the feelings in your tummy churn. “You and Getou have lost brain cells.”
After you had eaten and said goodnight to Shoko, you made your way into the bathroom and got into the shower. Washing your hair and face, making sure to try and relax despite the fact Shoko’s words didn’t leave you.
“You two looked like you were dating.”
She’s just seeing things then! You said to yourself, pouting your lip a little. Her and Getou acted like a couple too, but it’s not like they were actually dating. They were just fuck buddies that got high together whenever he visited.
Sukuna and I are too different to be dating.
Sukuna doesn’t forgive me either.
Once dried off and dressed, you went into your bedroom to sleep. But sleep wouldn’t come easily when you felt a sting in your chest and a never ending flow of nightmares that kept you on your toes.

I love that tenoch opened up about the romantic angle that I and other people are seeing. There’s nothing wrong with either view. I still love their bond and will remain just as ambiguous about whether there's romantic potential or not.
I think I was so taken aback. I don't think I've ever seen something written so intimate and mutual, but ambiguous enough that you can analyze it from many angles. I love when a piece of media isn't so clear like this, and it lets my mind see every interpretation there could be.
Also as tenoch said, it’s just an intimate human connection and that's something I've been trying to advocate for a long time. Just strong platonic bonds with people. Soulmates either just platonically or even just that middle ground, where there is no clear answer. So I'm really happy that's the case.
However, I did want to see an interacial couple be represented with the quality of writing and chemistry we saw. It was enticing and healing for me.
Nonetheless, I will watch and analyze this movie for a really long time. This will be a comfort movie for me, an inspirational movie for me, it’ll be so many things for me, and so will this ship. Platonic or not.
-----------
I also love that he said romance is poison (because I somewhat agree - only from my personal feelings and experiences. I’ve felt that I may be aromantic for awhile now). Just seeing someone articulate my thoughts, and start a conversation, create work that represents this is just wow!

Chapter 8
“I would like to show you something.”, he hung on her every word. “Yes.”, he responded immediately, his heart quickening. She looked baffled, he composed himself, he was acting like a fool. It was the breeze and the pure air getting to him, it had to be. “I mean, I do not have any other engagements for a while.”, he played it off. “Good, this might take a while.”, she rose up and asked him to come along with her. Like a wave drawn to the shore, he followed her.
It was further away from the city, upon a mount. The elevator doors closed behind them as they stepped in, encasing them together in this tiny space. He could sense the rhythm of her heart beat, her staggered breath in the silence, her elbow faintly touching his. He turned his hands into fists, trying to refrain from looking at her, trying to not give himself away. Of all the things he had faced in the tenure of his life, he knew he wasn’t strong enough to bear rejection if it were to come from her, she had already pushed him away once before. He can't solidify that fact by being told off again. He would rather spend time being around her presence. That was enough, but he lost control, sneaking a glance at her. Enough. The unit stopped and the door slid open, the cold air conditioned to be crisp, spread over him. His eyes adjusted to the clinical white lights and his eyes widened when he took in the space in front of him. “This is your lab.”, he exclaimed and was the first to move out, entranced by the sound of whirring machinery and smooth tiles.
“Yes.”, she kept to the rim of the room, letting him move like when he allowed her into his space. Touching artefacts and observing paintings. He flitted around her prototypes, when his eyes landed on one screen in particular. She had forgotten to put it away, his vitals and analysis summary she had used before to cause him damage. He walked towards it and she couldn’t stop him. His room held glorious wonders of a world before her time, while her's held dirty secrets. She didn't understand why it affected her. That after everything he had done, she cared for his thoughts, what he thought about her.
He read the words, his strengths and weaknesses. In the middle, there was a picture of him. “Impressive.”, he commended her. There he was, doing it again , unsual in his way of thinking, she furrowed her brows. “You’ve studied me.”, his eyes found hers and in it a glint of sadness. “There’s more to it than just that.”, she approached him. “More?”, she could see the gears turn in his head. “Is it not enough that you think of me as, as”, he looked up at the screen. “Lethal and dangerous?”, he pointed out. “Aren’t you?”, she asked. His focus was entirely on her, the lab now feeling like a box, he opened his mouth to contradict her statement, to put up a fight but instead for the first time since she had known, he held back. No demand, no threat, nothing. He moved away towards the panther necklace that was on display. The air shifted, he took his warmth with him. For someone who ruled the sea, he lacked the coldness for it. “This was your brother’s ?”, he changed the conversation. She stood behind her table. Proximity between them was volatile. “Yes.”, her voice lost its edge, the memory of Tchalla turning her tone to a soft whisper. “I’ve heard stories about him.”, she heard him tell her as he touched the metal claw.
She wanted to scamper next to him, let him tell stories of her brother, if their spark turned them into a forest fire, for a second she was willing to risk it. If they were to be burned who could stop them? And it burned brighter. With anger for what could have been. She held onto the edge of the table. “I wanted to more than allies. That moment as I stood in front of your paintings, I wanted us to be friends. When I bargained for Riri, I wanted it to be different. ”, she admitted in the heavy silence. He looked out the view in front of them, but didn’t turn to meet her eyes. “But instead I walked right into your scheme. Bringing me there had always been your motive wasn’t it?”, she asked and the muscles on his back stiffened. “It was.”, he spoke.
He felt her gaze bore through the back of his head. “It was, until you said you would stay in the place of the scientist.”, he explained. “My plans dissolved when you asked me to show you my home. All that I did selfishly, to spend more time.”, he didn’t know why she brought him here. She had him pegged, he had misjudged her, laying out the trap to manipulate and get what he wanted but it shattered when he took note of her intentions. She was noble in her arguments and that was something he valued too much to play dirty. “It was foolish of me to hope I could be seen as anything other that an animal, to believe that with or without this mutation, I am still human with wants and needs.”, he turned to her finally. “My scheme did not involve you discovering my humanity. Now have I not justified it? That I am only lethal and dangerous without a soul intact.”, he smiled sadly, watching as she took in his words.
She wanted him to admit it, that he was monstrous but she never stopped to realise he thought of himself as one. That it didn’t matter what the others saw him as, his own thoughts caused him pain. He feared his own reflection. She exhaled. The point of bringing him here was not for this. “I need you to take a seat here.”, she pointed to a raised table. He edged towards it slowly. “What is this for?”, he asked uncertain. “Your mother’s bracelet held the same compound as the hybrid plant that gave you powers.”, she explained pulling up his analysis. “Its extract will help your burns and vibranium scars heal faster.”, she retrieved a vial that held a small dose of the serum she used to revive the heart shaped herb. He took a seat on the stretcher. "Why are you doing this?", he asked softly. She paused, not willing to look at him, she didn't know why she was doing it herself. But when she saw his dark eyes, the reason came to her mind. "You're people need you to be at your best.", she told him, half of the reason. The other half, he walked around with the scars she gave him all while he was trying to build back what was lost. It is only right she did the same.
She loaded the contents into a syringe. “This might hurt.”, she got close. Her hand hovering over his skin, thoughts reminding her of her past failures and hatred. His breath cascaded over her knuckles, she held his arm gently. His skin warm to the touch. She paused, trying to make sure her research had been right. Her palms beginning to sweat as she held him, the syringe an inch away from insertion. The scene taking her back when she tried to save her brother. What if this was wrong? What if this resulted in something else? “I trust you.”, he whispered, crystalline honey brown eyes easing her. She swallowed and nodded. He winced as the needle pierced his skin and in reaction to it he clasped his hand over hers. The contents in the syringe entered his blood stream. “I don’t like needles.”, he chuckled softly. Time froze, she was struck by his innocence. But upon realizing what he had done, he let her go. The clock ticked and he sat patiently, Griot ran tests and she observed him, to see if it had worked. The vitals beeped in the same rhythm her heart was beating in.
Her intensity was an atmosphere to revel in, she circled him, ran tests while all he could do was keep his eyes on her. “It should have worked.”, she paced. “Some things take time.”, he replied and she huffed. She put away her device and walked back to him. Her eyes roving over his face, his scars. “Time has never been on my side.”, she said as she kept watch. He felt the cold sting of the serum run through him, his vision a golden haze as he held his focus on her. "Though the sands of time have been slow, it has not been kind to me", he whispered as he caught the exact second her pupils widened with the simultaneous sense of relief that washed over him. “Its, its working.”, she exclaimed her palm cupping his cheek.
Her claw mark began to fade from his cheek, the scar tissue sealing together to make his tan skin look seamless again. In awe, she stroked her thumb over the disappearing the scar, warmth spread through his flesh once again, she felt him lean into her touch. Their eyes locked, the adrenaline died and for a moment, there was peace. He closed his eyes and pulled himself away from her touch. She dug her fingers into her pocket. “The true test is for your wing.”, she pointed to his ankle. “May I?”, she asked as she grabbed a scissor. He nodded, she cut through the bandage and removed the cloth. The flesh was healed, he flexed his foot and the wing she tore, ruffled to life. She hovered her hand over it.
Like the children, innocence and wonder etched her face as he laid still. Afraid if he moved, it’ll scare her away. Her finger traced the soft wing bone, his heart began to beater faster, his skin being bolted with electricity. "You're all healed now.", she spoke but his eyes feel to the place he had stabbed her. "Are you?", he asked. The question holding the same tone she had when she asked it before. She stilled and he exhaled. “I saw the mural.”, she spoke. He swallowed. “Did you?”, he tried to be calm. “It means a lot to my people to have your word.”, the soft intensity of her gaze wanted him to turn human.
“I did it for you.”, He responded quietly and there it was again, a pull towards him. “You’ve welcomed Talokan into your home, I wanted to do the same.”, he was trying. She had to acknowledge his efforts to do good. But it was more than that. He was trying to be better. “Thank you.”, she knew what she had to do. Killmonger died carrying his vengeance to the grave but it did not stop her brother from reaching out to him, even after all the wrongs he had done, even after he had almost died because of his rage. Intimidation was the only fault that led to the pain Wakanda was trying to heal from, her own people had sanctioned for the support of the man in front of her before. Acquaintances at best, she knew she had to be the light, to show him that peace is an option for him too if he wishes it.

Haha put my own spin on the 'how to train a dragon tail fixing' scene. I feel like since Talokans healed easily, fishboy just needed some supplements.

Chapter 5
She stood outside the throne room, eavesdropping on M’Baku’s attempt at easing the elders. “How can we be sure there will not be another invasion again?”, one elder spoke. “I told you then, we should have given them the scientist.”, a lady voiced her opinion. “One at a time, all of you act like bickering children.”, M’baku was loosing his patience. There was silence. “The black panther needs to be here.”, conversation picked up again. “The last time we didn’t have our protector, our kingdom was almost lost.”, another raised their concern. “The black panther will return.”, M’baku eased the council while she knew he was buying her time. “When?”, they demanded and she heard him huff. “Soon.”, he lied and she knew it was time, an additional second meant M'baku will be devoured by pestering questions. She signed for the doors to be opened and the guards rammed their spears into the ground.
The sound reverberated through the floor as the doors swung open, the mid afternoon light illuminating her golden gown, she felt powerful. Like she held the power of light, once filled with the burning embers of revenge but now the cracks were beginning to seal in and when her soul felt whole, she began to shine. Her light had always been within. The throne room had been restored, the place her mother sat, was now held by M'Baku‘s large frame, his legs sprawling across the floor in front of him. The elders were stunned and were rendered speechless as she stood in the door way.
She walked towards the throne as she smiled at M’Baku’s relief. “Did I not give you my word?”, he addressed the gathering, his hands outstretched towards her as she took a seat to his right. Everyone settled into their seats feeling content, the atmosphere of tension had now been aired out. But a ripple through the space around her reached out when she sensed another presence, eyes that had been trailing her movement from the moment she entered. She turned, her eyes locked with the prince of the world below. “Princess.”, he revered her and dipped his head, his expression stoic and yet calm. His eyes held a glimmer like sea glass on sea shores. Looking around the now elevated members of the Wakandan council she realized that he did tell her the truth, of her presence being missed. She acknowledged his gesture with a curt nod and turned to the elders around her.
He tried to keep his focus on the topic of discussion but his eyes kept wandering back to the golden shimmer next to the Wakandan king. She was here, his attempt at distancing himself from her was back firing. “We need to strengthen our defenses.”, he heard the conversation shift and his annoyance stirred. He was seated right there, promising not to attack his allies and yet he was treated like a stranger, his words falling on deaf ears. He hardly participated unless a question was asked, which was rare. They hated him and he knew it. “My people are restless.”, he spoke out of turn. Their attention narrowed down on him.
“They believe this alliance gives Wakanda the power over us, to do with us what you wish according to your terms.”, he elaborated. “Should I presume that to be true?”, there was an edge to his voice, he looked around at the angered faces and finally settled on her, her face devoid of emotion, calculating his words. “How dare he be here and question our motive?”, the elders raged and M’Baku roared. “Quiet.”, he silenced them once again like a tired teacher. They fell back into their well practiced silent murmurs. He was wasting his time, he forced this to work and it wasn’t remotely going in the way he wanted it to. He grew impatient and tired, unable to fix this issue, unable to get people see past their differences. This was the problem of having been away from any form of social interaction apart from his own people, he wasn't well versed with court politics or sweet talking. He cut to the chase, where there is an issue there had to be a solution. He felt drained, partly by the strength it took to be polite and the other from having been away from the water.
She watched as he tapped his foot, his gaze now struck with annoyance. She had helped him plenty. She wanted to be selfish, but she remembered what her mother told her from the ancestral plane. “Show them who you are.”. She composed herself and rose from her place causing for everyone to quiet down. Namor tracked her as she walked to the middle of the room, “Are we not doing the same? Questioning their motives.”, she asked. “If we want this to work.”, her eyes caught his. “We have to look past our differences.”.
He was at the edge of his seat, she saw through him, echoing his thoughts as though their minds were connected. “We have to share our positives and work through our negatives.”, M’baku hummed to her reasoning. “That day on the battlefield, we became one, brothers and sisters in arms. That cannot work if we ourselves work progressively to tear each other down when the world outside is trying to do the same.”, a hush fell over the people gathered. “What are you suggesting, princess?”, he asked her, forgetting about everyone else, his voice cut through the quiet, she turned to face him.
His thoughts were loud enough for her to hear. He wanted to know what’s next, he moved at inhuman speed, his strategies precise and defined. Everything had to be in place, there cannot be a sense of disruption. She could not risk having to fight him again. The more time they wasted fighting each other, wasting resources and losing life, meant the world outside was waiting to come pick up the pieces of what would be left behind. It could have all been avoided through a peaceful agreement before, if only she was given the time to do so. For the sake of her people’s safety and his, she had to be the one to reach out first, to make this alliance work and grow stronger, that it did not rest on the shoulders of the black panther and the submariner, but in the hands of the people.
“Our technology can be shared. Vibranium is the core component of our kingdoms, we learn from each other, widen our scope.”, she shared her idea only to be surprised to see, his gaze had softened. “The Talokans will teach the Wakandans our way of under water battle.”, he added on. “Eliminating secrets between us will lessen the strain of being allies.”, he spoke along with her. His tone soft, through the haze of politics and games, there was a pebble of truth. “We learn from the past, remember our losses and move together as one, into the future.”
He felt her words sink in, her focus on him as she said it. He sat back, the memory fighting it’s way back to the surface, the throne room he sat in dissolved into the chaos he had created before. Glass shattered, floor flooded, the throne toppled as he hovered. But now, it was only him and her, repurposing what he said to inspire and motivate. That after all the pain, she emerged stronger than before. While he sat there, having nightmares of what he had done, pacing the sea with the loss of peace and agonizing remorse, the pieces he held together for five centuries now coming apart. That he had become the very thing that caused his mother's heart to break. His proactive and vengeful ways causing the first woman who showed him kindness to deal with irreparable damage.
The meeting was adjourned, he lingered. M’baku left the room and as the elders filtered out he made his way to her, like a fish swimming against the current. Every step he took, he cursed himself. “Princess.”, he called for her, unsure. “May we speak?”, he asked. She sent away the person she was speaking to and joined him. “Thank you.”, he told her. But before he could carry on, she stopped him. “I did not do this for you. I did it for my people and yours.”, she spoke and he clasped his hand behind his back, putting enough distance between them. “I vouched for your protection. You said you were trying and it made me realize, I wasn’t.”, She led him to a lookout. He followed, captivated, his vision blurring out the periphery.
The history every corner of Wakanda held was much like his own land but his favourites were the sculptures and wall murals that decorated the streets. Taking a pause now and then, he saw the similarities they shared. Different yet the same, their experiences tying them together. “The paintings on your walls are exquisite.”, he was wading through the awkward pause. He wanted to know more about her, about this place. “Yes. The graffiti tell stories intertwined with history, much like yours.”, she looked around with a soft smile. They were far away from the noise and the pressure of it all, she leant over the rail looking out to the setting sun, he did the same. Silence between them was similar to when he descended into the depths below. It was familiar and comforting. “I wanted to save her.”, he heard her. “It was out of my control and I couldn’t do anything. Her life was meaningful.”, she was addressing his accusation even when there was no need for her to explain herself after everything that had happened. He looked at the receding sun, the sky burning red, mirroring the fire deep within his own heart. “It is in the past. What was done, cannot be undone.”, he offered her the only thing he could, to tame the thoughts raging in her mind.
“You have a right to your apology, I’m afraid any of mine will not hold the same value.”, he said it as he felt his throat tighten. Apologies had never been on his tongue but when he truly needed it for the first time, it was void and foreign, he chewed on his lip knowing his words would all but mean nothing to her. He never felt the need to reevaluate his actions before. But as she burned in the orange light different to the light in Talokan he admired the colour of her skin, he now had a reason to. She was made for the light and he was birthed in the dark, twilight was their only hour of solace.
“I wanted to return this.”, he shifted to she her hand holding his mother’s bracelet. His eyes widened. “It was a gift.”, he turned away, awaiting the stars to plunge his heavy heart. “It is a sign of Talokan's friendship.”, he spoke, for if he stopped he would break, his gesture of love being returned or rather being thrown away was something he did not want to think about. The water glistened, calling to him. “Namor.”, she began to reason but it was a sign his time here was done, a second longer and it will be sedimented in stone, that he was unworthy of her kindness. Taking it back would rewrite time and their time in his cave would all but become fictional, a dream. His wings on one leg flapped but it failed to carry his weight without the other set. She watched as he held onto the railing to steady himself. She pulled back her closed fist, his mother's bracelet held within her fingers. He had to leave before she stopped him, to erase the only parts that had made him feel alive. So without a word or a final glance, he walked out the door.

Pairing: Namor x Shuri
Word Count: 1000
Warnings: none

Chapter 4
The council was ready, their murmurs loud and clear. His arrival was announced and they grew silent. Namora took the seat next to him on his right while Attuma stood behind him. “Why has a meeting been convened?”, he asked the head of sectors with Talokan remained silent. They glanced at eachother as he anticipated their response but no one came forward, when they slowly looked toward Namora, noting their action she turned to him. “Concerns were voiced out regarding your rather sudden decision on the alliance.”, she summarized and he looked around him.
Ever since he had been the child king, he was often met with resistance with regards to his choices. He had to reinforce them and justify it. Most of his people valued him and honoured him but it wasn't safe to say that he did not ever so often have to put his foot down to remind them of their places. He occasionally would feel like a fish caught in a net, that even if he wanted to, for a second, cannot put down the yoke of responsibility or escape the clutches of his fate. The court here was aggressive and volatile, he had to have his defenses built of stone, be on the move because if he rested, his throne was targeted. Not everyone remained content with having the same king for centuries. He always had to be on guard and that takes a toll on one's patience. One's ability to take a slower pace.
“They are not convinced of the Wakandan protection. That we have given away our power of independence.”, she elaborated as he stroked his beard. His eyes scanned the gathering, each one of them failing to hold their own against his presence. “When was the last time we encountered another one of those machines?”, he asked his tone well balanced. “On the day of the war.”, one of the ministers replied and he nodded his head. “Then what is the matter?”, he asked the crowd. “We fear the alliance only works in favour of the surface city, they keep us hidden and with it we have to play by their rules.”, one voiced out. “Have we not become the very thing we swore we will not become, being under someone else’s control.”, another joined.
“How long have you all been feeling this way?”, he asked concern marked across his face. But no one answered, the silence was enough to deduce when. “She tricked you, k’uk’ulkan.”, Namora added to the queries that were piling up and he felt his nostrils flare. “She played you right into her hands.”, she continued and he stood up. Namora stopped, her eyes fixed on his. “She showed us empathy, a rare quality amidst surface dwellers.”, he commanded the space around him. He turned to Namora, hadn't he already told her about this? “She spared my life. I owe her a life debt.”, he stood taller as his gaze narrowed down on his cousin. “I will not like to hear of this again.”, he turned towards the door, his cape pinned across his shoulder. “Vengence will not consume us any longer.”, he had the last word, pining everyone down with a gaze of authority, he left.
Nakiya was resting on the sofa, in her arms a sleeping Toussaint. Shuri placed a shrug over them letting them to rest as she picked up the remote to turn the television off, but a news the anchor was taking about on mute caught her eye. “Wakanda a growing super power with mass destruction weapons.”, the text read and she felt her knees wobble. She took a seat, her mid afternoon nap as good as destroyed. The world wanted to tear open her land like an unwilling clam. The change of power was still too fresh, her panic began to rise. She wasn’t there, innovation had to continue, defenses needed to be stronger. She could feel the shift within her, she was getting back on her feet again. She had to prevent this greed from coming after her land, she cannot risk the secret of Talokan getting out. She looked back at the sleeping form of two of the most important people in her world. She will not risk another war, a war that could be devastating. She had enough of loss.
She enjoyed dinner and waited for Nakiya to return from having put her son to sleep. “Let me put away the leftovers.”, Shuri offered to help and joined Nakiya as she emerged from his bedroom. “This is new.”, Nakiya smiled as she pulled out empty boxes. “Actually, there is something I want to talk to you about.”, Shuri told her sister. Nakiya paused and her expression became solemn. “Of course.”, she said and led Shuri to the living room. Settled into the cushions, she prepared herself for the conversation she was about to have. “I am ready to go back.”, Shuri said. Nakiya furrowed her brows. “Are you sure?”, she asked to which Shuri knew by instinct that it was time to face everything she had left behind.
Nakiya sighed and edged closer to hold her hands. “I don’t want you to rush into things.”, she spoke softly but it was only met with a resolute sense of purpose. “I’m not running away.”, Shuri reassured her. “I know what I need to do.”, she closed her fingers over nakiya’s hands. “It is what my brother would have done.”, Shuri smiled and the edges of Nakiya’s eyes glimmered with unshed tears. “He would be so proud of you.”, she said pulling her in for a hug. She knew Shuri couldn’t stay here forever but she sought to fix their relationship that had taken a toll over the last six years. Nakiya wanted her to be her best self again, although it was still work in progress, she took comfort in that her sister had come a long way since she arrived here. Having Shuri be a part of her life, she could sense his presence with her, even after all the loss this family felt whole. “Tell the king the spy says hello.”, she pulled away and Shuri wiped the tear from her cheek. “I will.”, she smiled, home awaited her and with it a new set of challenges.
She got onto the back of a jeep, waving goodbye to the receding figures of Nakiya and her nephew. The sun was beginning to rise, a new dawn, a new start. The breeze was supple and soft, fresh with the scent of spring, no one else was catching a ride with her, so she settled her bag between her legs and leaned back to enjoy the ride. The morning sun kissed her cheek as she closed her eyes. “It was just a construct of your mind, mother.”, she had told the queen that night. But it wasn’t. She felt a warmth encase her on her right and her left, it wasn’t the breeze or the sun. Like a hand placed on her shoulder. It was them, her mother and brother journeying along with her, giving her the strength to take the next step with them. In that moment she knew, she wasn’t alone.

I know Namor making that mural was either to memorialize the battle or because he greatly respects and maybe admires Shuri. But this scenario was too funny for me not share:
Namor: *making a giant mural of him and Shuri like a teenager puts names in hearts*
Namor: *patiently waiting for Wakanda to call him*
Namor: *putting on his best outfit for a meeting with Wakanda's council so he'll look good in front of Shuri*
Namor: *dramatically walks out of the water of Wakanda's river*
M'Baku: fish-man! Welcome. I am King M'Baku of Wakanda-
Namor, who's literally counted down the days till he could meet Shuri again: wait what

The song Con La Brisa is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Being a Shuri x Namor shipper I do agree the lyrics are romantic and make this ship more meaningful for us. I would also like to point out how the same lyrics also express the love Namor has for his people.
I will give my whole life
To get you out of the dark
I will break your sentence
In this collapsing world
Being the sole ruler of Talokan since his birth, he has given his entire life protecting them and will continue to do so for the rest. His people can only survive in water yet I think he still wants them to get a glimpse of how the surface world is. Situated in deep sea Talokan is full of darkness. His people don't mind and are used to it but using vibranium Namor was able to bring the sun to his people, in a way taking them away from darkness. He wants them to be free too but he can't do so since it would compromise their protection. Hence it also feels like a punishment being so isolated.
Give me a little more time
I will give my last breath
To show you the whole sky
In the clouds with you I will lie down
Throughout the movie there is unrest as the people of Talokan are threatened to be revealed to the world. This makes Namor desperate and leads him to reveal himself to Queen Ramonda and Shuri. Wakandans definitely see him as a threat and vice-versa. However he is willing to do everything in his power to protect his people. Even ready to be as ruthless as killing young girl. His council asks him to solve it quickly by just killing them, but he demands time and assures that it will be well soon.
And we snuck in with the breeze
And we sail with the wind
What beautiful intensity of your eyes
Burns hotter than fire and reflects in broken glass
I promise one day you'll open your eyes
and now I have them redder than the sky offers
When Namor takes Shuri to visit Talokan, we can see the intense beauty of it shrouded in darkness. Even in water, the people seem to be floating in the wind. The beauty of the city and how welcoming the people were to Shuri, it all is reflected in her eyes. Her eyes are now open to realization and understanding of why Namor wants to take such measures to keep Talokan hidden. He believes showing Shuri his city and his people will make her realise it, and it does.
Between the shadows, my love
You are the brightest
How beautiful, how beautiful
That's why, my love
you remind me so much of it
How beautiful, how beautiful
We snuck in with the breeze
And we sail with the wind, oh, oh
And we snuck in with the breeze
And we sail with the wind, oh, oh
Uh-uh-uh, let's go you and me, let's go you and me (Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh)
Uh-uh-uh, let's go both, let's both go (Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh)
Uh-uh-uh, let's go you and me, let's go you and me (Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh)
Uh-uh-uh, let's go both, let's both go (Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh)
The last verse explains how both the civilizations, Wakanda and Talokan are hidden in the shadows yet they are the brightest and most beautiful amongst the rest, that is the whole world. When Namor first appears, he appreciates the clean breathable air and breeze of Wakanda and acknoledges it's beauty. So does Shuri when she visits Talokan. In these two scenes each are reminded how the other side is just as beautiful as their own. "We snuck in with the breeze and we sail with the wind" shows how even if one is on land and the other in water, it reflects the way they move. Sailing through the wind and water, further implying their similarities.
The last verse I would say is Namor's invitation to Shuri to go burn the world alongside him in order to protect their worlds.
READING THE LYRICS TRANSLATION MADE ME FURTHER FALL IN LOVE WITH THE MOVIE AND SHIP THEM EVEN MORE 😭😭

Got lost in the ether (Gangster!Sukuna x Reader) Part Two
Omg. So I wasn't expecting this fic to get as much attention as it has. I've been writing fanfiction since I was like 13 and I've never been asked to set up a tag list before! It's pretty flattering, ngl. Oh, and this fic is also available on Ao3, here's a link if you'd rather read it and/or comment there: Got lost in the ether - Chapter 1 - UnluckyAmulet - 呪術廻戦 | Jujutsu Kaisen (Anime) [Archive of Our Own]
A deafening cheer rose. The show was about to start. The sound was deafening, and you were a little taken aback by it, and almost missed your cue to start the opening dance number. The lights were so bright – like the roof had been blown away to reveal the sun. Most of the other girls strutted forwards confidently, adding extra flourishes to their movements, to much hooting and jeers of approval from the men at the front of the stage. In that moment, you felt another rush of relief and gratitude that you weren't front and center, presented to the braying crowds like a sacrifice. Though perhaps you were exaggerating a bit in your anxiety, it was no secret that you weren't one of the best dancers and you were happy for the girls who were to soak up the attention. They knew what they were doing, and they knew how to work the crowd. Most of the customers were crowded near the front of the stage, cheering and calling out for their favourite dancers, some of them wildly waving money like flags as if that would summon them over instantly. You couldn't shake the mental image of people yelling at horses to run faster at a racetrack. Though given that even a fistful of what those men were throwing around may well have helped you pay your bills, you literally couldn't afford to turn your nose up at it. There was something else you were preoccupied with, and that, more than anything else, was throwing off your rhythm. Unlike his contemporaries, Sukuna Ryomen had not elected to move closer to the stage. He was sitting at a table right by one of the platforms, so he hardly needed to, but the fact he had remained where he was, coolly smoking his cigar, immediately made him stand out. He had a couple of associates clustered around him like advisors, but you honestly hadn't noticed them before when you were peeping at him from behind the curtain and looking at them now only served to contrast how forgettable they were compared to Sukuna. It was like having a peacock sitting among sparrows. No. you thought as the routine took you closer to the spot in front of his table, the lights glancing off his pink hair and the crimson shirt he wore beneath his suit. He's more like a phoenix. Sukuna tipped his head back to watch the dancers on the platform before him, passing his table directly. None of them lingered for too long, so he was free to look at each girl at his leisure without the chance to grow restless. You wouldn't have said he looked bored right now, exactly, but there was something decidedly aloof in that low-lidded stare of his. A cool, assessing gaze that left you wrong-footed, and you weren’t even the one on the receiving end. It was such a raw contrast to the whooping and cheering crowd that, perversely, made you want to get closer to Sukuna. Just to see him up close, to know a little more than the very limited information you had about him. After all, a man who acts like he doesn't care was far more enticing than one who wore his lust and desperation so crassly on his sleeve. Strangely, it was Sukuna's apparent indifference that made you want to impress him. ...And what's when you realised it was almost your turn to get onto the platform in front of his table.
Your foolish heart started to pound as you walked towards Sukuna, your legs seemingly behaving totally independently of your body. You know you're just a body in a sea of other bodies, quite a few of them more appealing than yours - you had no idea what a man like Sukuna would be into, but whether that's skinny or thick or athletic, he had plenty of better options. And your reluctance, your disbelief you were even here in the first place and doing this, was probably completely obvious and something of a turn-off. After all, you were supposed to be a fantasy for these horndogs - a woman who really liked parading around in shoes she cannot walk in and feeling the urge to grab something to cover yourself with.
Suck it up. You got yourself into this. You mentally chide yourself. Being bitter isn't gonna get you that cash.
But no pep talk or mental lambasting could have prepared for those next few moments.
Miko was ahead of you, stepping on the beat and as she paused on the platform before Sukuna, striking a pose, you saw him take a swig of whatever it was he was drinking, and then give her a faint nod.
You couldn't see Miko's face, but her excitement from that one little crumb of approval from Sukuna was obvious. It was like she'd just been given a shot of caffeine or an upper - her movements grew more energetic, and she was swishing her dark hair and clicking her fingers to the booming bassline. She looked like she was enjoying herself at a crazy party, not doing a choreographed dance routine in a trashy club.
And then, it was your turn.
You didn't consider yourself to be a cowardly person. Sure, you had things you were scared of like any normal person would, but didn't it take a certain amount of guts to do this? It was because you had to, sure, but people will do all sorts of crazy things when they're desperate.
But walking in front of Sukuna Ryomen's potent gaze in nothing but your underwear and a pair of heels was by far one of the scariest things you'd ever done - your heard was pounding so hard that you felt like it was going to punch its way through your ribcage and your palms were sweating. Now you were so close, you could see his eyes were red, a colour highlighted by his shirt and warm tones of his hair.
His eyes travelled over you, and you felt like he was cataloguing every part of your body, perhaps calculating how much it would cost to sell on the black market later. You could practically feel his gaze on your skin, and you were so flustered that you forgot the next steps of the dance - it was all you could do to keep your feet moving. But even with the noise all the other customers in the background and the lights roving the place, you only had eyes for Sukuna.
After what felt like an agonising eternity to you, he lifted his gaze from his casual perusal of your body to stare into your eyes. It was like trying to stare into the sun - you had to look away, like you would burn if you stared at him directly. Heat crept across your cheeks and your stomach dropped - you could only imagine how stupid you looked, like a kid playing at being an adult. It didn’t help at all that he was handsome, the tattoos around his wrists adding to the strange, dangerous charisma he seemed to wield without apparent effort.
Sukuna exhaled cigar smoke from his nose, reminding you strikingly of a dragon and his sharp white teeth glinted, lips pulling back in a sneer.
"Heh." And just like that, your turn before the watchful gaze of Sukuna was over and you're free to hurry away - you didn't even bother striking any further poses, you just needed to get backstage now, away from the lights and the wall of noise.
You fanned at your face as you vanished behind the curtain, making a beeline for a nearby sink, wobbling in your stupid shoes. You cupped your palms to gulp down a few mouthfuls of tepid water, which did something to help with your parched throat but didn't do much to cool you down. God, why did that have to happen? You weren't even sure you wanted to go back out there now - you must have looked like such an idiot. The image of Sukuna's mocking smirk seemed to be etched into your brain - you were sure you'd see it in your nightmares tonight, replaying over and over in a loop of shame.
"Hey, are you okay?" Miko asked as she approached you, panting slightly. She had a sheen on her body that could have been body glitter, sweat or a combination of the two, but there was something more to it than that. Perhaps it was because she knew she'd killed it out there, or because of that moment of getting approval from Sukuna.
"Yeah, just...it was so much more intense than I realised." you said, biting the inside of your cheek. "It's really different with all the customers."
"Don't worry, they're not hard to please." Miko said with a smile. "Once you've done this a few times it won't seem like a big deal anymore."
You appreciated the sentiment, but you know Sukuna knew that you fucked up the routine - you weren't sure how much of a regular customer he was, but it had probably been obvious to him thanks to the look on your face. Or the fact all the girls before and after you remembered their positions.
You don't belong here. you thought to yourself, for the first time tonight.
"Hey, you two!"
A man wearing sunglasses and a suit whom you vaguely recognised as one of the higher-ups who had been present at your audition came striding up to you and Miko, an irritated look on his face, like even having to speak to you was just a huge inconvenient to him. Clearly, he resented having to say whatever it was he'd come here for.
"You're not being paid to stand around back here." he said, striding over, shoes clicking importantly on the floor.
"We'll be right back out, okay?" Miko said, sounding irritated for the first time you've known her. "Fuck."
"You have something else you need to do," replied Sunglasses and something in his tone, some kind of double meaning, made you and Miko look up, the mood shifting subtly.
"What?" Miko asked, raising her eyebrows.
"Sukuna Ryomen has asked for you both. So get your assess to the Deluxe Rooms, now."
~
Of course, Sukuna would not only have a private room, but the best one in the club. You'd never even set foot in any of them and now this - it was like you were casually walking into a lion's den, hoping that they weren't particularly hungry.
"Don't worry." Miko said to you, as you both followed Sunglasses to the Deluxe Rooms, the man was walking like he'd recently had a pole rammed where the sun don't shine. "I'll do the talking, they probably just want a private dance."
You may have been new, but you weren't stupid - Miko's nerves were obvious in her voice and the way she was anxiously playing with her fingers. And even if she knew more about Sukuna than you, you doubted very much that you ever simply got used to being around him - when he looked at you it was like he could see straight through you.
Sunglasses pushed open the door and both of you were ushered inside, into a room very unlike the crowded, drafty chaos of the dressing rooms.
In here, the walls were lined with mirrors and the lighting was designed for maximum ambience, not visibility. The room smelled of expensive smoke - apparently the rules about no-smoking were relaxed all over the place if you had enough money to justify it. Sukuna certainly looked in his element in a more lavish setting, leaning against the plush seating and watching you, head slightly cocked.
"Took your time, huh?" he said in Sunglasses' general direction, but he didn't bother looking directly at him. Behind Miko you couldn't stop yourself from shivering slightly - his voice was so deep, a subtle growl in it that only enhanced his intimidating aura.
"My apologies, sir-" Sunglasses hastened to placate, but Sukuna simply gave an irritable flick of his wrist.
"Get out."
Sunglasses nodded like a good boy, but you could tell he wasn't happy about being spoken to like that. It gave you a little frisson of vindictive pleasure to see some prick who threw his weight around when it came to bossing around women getting put in his place. Miko cleared her throat slightly.
"It's good to see you again, sir." Miko spoke, quick to prevent an awkward silence from settling after Sunglasses slammed out of the room. She stepped further into the room and her skin looked soft and dewy in the mood lighting. There was a hum of approval at the sight of her before Sukuna and his cronies - she exuded a soft, feminine sex appeal that tended to draw in rough men like these.
But just when you started thinking that Sukuna would be preoccupied with Miko, that perhaps you'd been called in as an afterthought to entertain his men, Sukuna suddenly looked right at you. It was like he'd heard your thoughts and you stiffened, freezing on the spot like a rabbit being spotted by a wolf.
And when he smirked at you, showing off those sharp teeth, it only made the metaphor even more apt.
"Well, well." Sukuna drawled, looking you over once again and making no secret of how he enjoyed making you squirm. "Looks like there's some fresh meat around here, hmm?"
You weren't sure if he wanted an answer, really, but you had to say something. "Yes."
The word didn't sound like your voice at all, softer than usual, your throat feeling constricted merely from being in Sukuna's presence. It didn't appear to bother him, though. Instead, he raised a hand and you saw that, unusually for a man of his profession, his nails were not only painted black, but each one was filed to a dagger-like sharpness.
With those fingers he beckoned, the words falling from his lips like a command from a king:
"Come here. Sit on my lap."

Fixing the thin straps of your dress, you looked yourself over once more. The next days after your meeting with Sukuna had flown by, and you had enlisted Ieiri to at least buy a dress for the wedding. Since you had wanted just a courthouse wedding, there were no need to make any other preparations. After hours of searching, you had both decided on a white satin cowl neck midi dress, which you thought might be a little too revealing, but Ieiri managed to sway you, claiming “Sukuna would cum as soon as he saw you,” to your complete mortification.
Slipping on your pale pink heels, you walked out of the bathroom, ready to leave. As you walked over to her living room, you heard a low whistle from the kitchen. “Look at you, you sure make a pretty picture!” Twirling, you looked over at Ieiri with a smile on your face, “Thanks to you! I wasn’t sure on the dress, but you do have great taste.” You and Ieiri had decided to have a sleep over in lieu of a night out as your bachelorette party. In all honesty, you had enjoyed it much more than you would have if you both had gone out, eating junk food, and drinking canned beer, just talking late into the night.
Walking over to you, Ieiri held your face in her hands, “Y/N, are you sure about this? If it’s not something you want, we won’t show up, and they’ll just have to deal with it. I know how you feel about him, but if he’s acting this way towards you already, I don’t want to imagine how it’ll be when you’re married.”
Leaning over to rest your head on her shoulder, you sighed, “Thank you for your worries, Shoko. I think so, I’ve thought more about it and I’m sure I’m making the right decision.” She leaned over to you, and kissed the top of your head, grabbing her purse. “Very well, you know whatever happens I will be behind you. But!” she pulled out a thin box from her purse, opening it and showing you a dainty gold double link pendant.
Tracing your hand over it, you could feel the tears forming in your eyes already. “It’s from everyone at the office, we hope you like it,” turning you around, she fastened the pendant on you. You turned around and hugged Shoko, burying your face in her neck, “Oh Ieiri, I’m sure about what I’m doing but I’m so glad that you’ll be there!”
Hugging you back, Ieiri laughed. “Even if they would have wanted just Sukuna, the old man and you, I would have made my way in there somehow. Let’s get going then, I think we should be arriving fashionably late already.”
You both grabbed your bags and headed outside, to Ieiri’ s car. The drive over to city hall was quiet, you both felt that it was better to not speak, in case someone said something that would put the other one over the edge. You arrived at city hall faster than you would have liked, but once Shoko parked, you both headed inside. As you made your way inside, you saw Uraume waiting in the lobby nervously, most likely for you. “Oh Miss, I’m very glad you’re here. I thought you might…” he trailed off.
You couldn’t help but share a smile with Shoko, they probably thought that you had changed your mind. “Sorry Uraume,” you said, gesturing for him to lead the way, “last minute details but let’s get going.” He led Shoko and you up some stairs and down a hallway, and when you had all reached the last door on the hall, he knocked quickly and open the door for you.
Grandma Mizuna and Aunt Akane were already there, talking worriedly in the corner, Isamu was sitting off to the side engrossed in his phone, and Sukuna was leaning against the windows looking out, lost in thought. “Sorry everyone, we took a little longer to get ready than expected. But were here.” Everyone turned to look at you, with Aunt Akane rushing over to you. “Oh Y/N, I was getting worried,” she whispered. Holding you at arm’s length, she then exclaimed, “You look stunning! And ohh, those shoes are lovely, did you wear them because of Sukuna?”
You felt yourself grow redder and heard Shoko snicker behind you. Subconsciously, you guessed you had picked them out because of him, but sneaking a glance at him, you noticed he was looking at you amusedly.
You looked away flustered, heading over to Mizuna. “Obaachan, I’m sorry I’m late. I hope you’re well.” Standing up, she gave you a hug, leading you over to Isamu, “Don’t worry darling, the important thing is you’re here.” You smiled, bowing to Isamu as well. “Hello darling, shall we begin,” he said, gesturing over to Uraume who rushed out of the room.
You noticed Shoko and Aunty talking animatedly, and Mizuna and Isamu talking about dinner later, so you figured this was the best time to greet Sukuna. You were about to marry him so you figured you should try to get along. As you walked over to him, you noticed how handsome he looked. He was wearing a pair of black trousers and a pressed white shirt. You felt anxious but continued. “Hi. I’m sorry I’m late. You look very nice.” Looking you up and down, Sukuna snickered, “I thought you had skipped out on me.”
His mood swings were making you have whiplash. You didn’t even know how to reply to that. “Oh. N-no, I’m sorry I was-““Y/N, I’m joking. Besides, you got here just in time, the officiant is here,” he nodded towards the door, Uraume returning with an older man. He placed his hand on the small of your back and led you towards the desk in the office, where everyone was gathering.
After introductions, the officiant began with the ceremony, speaking to you both about marriage and this new journey you two would embark in. You wanted to scoff. If only he knew this whole marriage was nothing more than a business arrangement. You fiddled with your engagement ring, tuning out the older man. Glancing sideways at Sukuna, you noticed was looking at you, eyebrow raised. Looking at him questioningly, you heard the officiant clear his throat. You quickly looked at him, “sorry?” Again, you heard Shoko and now Sukuna snicker behind you, your face reddening. “Do you take Ryoumen Sukuna as your husband, miss?” You smiled guiltily, and nodding answered quietly, “Yes, I do.”
Nodding, he pushed a document towards both of you, and passing a pen to Sukuna first, you both signed, finalizing your union. “Very well, we are now done, and everything is complete. Congratulations children, you are now married.” You turned towards everyone else, Obaachan and Aunt Akane snapping pictures in their phones, Isamu cracking what seemed like a smile and Shoko hooting loudly. You smiled and leaned a bit closer to Sukuna for the pictures. You were both about to begin heading out when Mizuna exclaimed loudly, “Wait, were not done!” Everyone looked at her, thinking what else could possibly be missing. “Obaachan, what do you mean?” Sukuna walked over to her worriedly, thinking she might be feeling tired. “My boy, you need to kiss your wife,” Mizuna exclaimed happily.
You felt the color drain from your face. Sukuna could barely stand you, so you were sure that this could only lead to a hurtful public rejection, which you didn’t think you could take.
“Oh no, it’s okay, that’s not necessary. Everyone’s here, and I’m sure that you guys’ d-don’t want to see that. Besides we need to head over for dinner, right?” You thought about escaping to the bathroom with Shoko to get out of this, but you were an adult, so surely you could talk your way out of this? At that same moment, Sukuna turned and started walking to you. Once he was in front of you, you looked up at him with wide eyes and making sure no one else could hear you, you whispered, “You don’t have to do this.”
Sukuna looked at you, then tucked your hair behind your ear. He brought his hand up to your cheek, caressing it with his thumb. With his other hand, he placed it on your waist, pulling you closer and bringing his lips down to yours in the same motion. Taken aback, you see his face so close to yours that you feel disoriented. You shut off your brain and closing your eyes, you pull him closer gently by placing your hand on the back of his neck and your other hand on his bicep.
You began to feel dizzy, Sukuna and you had shared a childhood together, but had never kissed, even as children. Warmth began spreading throughout your body, having always thought about how it would feel to have him hold you so tenderly, kiss you like this. Before the kiss could deepen, you pulled away, looking at Sukuna’ s face. You looked at him, he looked fazed, with lidded eyes, his pupils dilated. You smiled slightly, happy that at least you could have this effect on him, making a mental note to thank Shoko for making you buy the dress. You quickly leaned in to peck his lips one last time and untangled yourself from his hold.
Turning to look at everyone, you quickly walked over to Shoko, “So were heading for dinner now, right?” Sukuna and Isamu quickly went to say goodbye to the officiant, and you and Shoko walked outside to a small terrace attached. “You’re coming right?” you asked her nervously, fiddling with your necklace.
“Yes, I would not miss it for the world. My little Y/N got married. I had hoped to throw you a rager or something, but I guess this uppity dinner will have to do.” She finished, pulling out a cigarette. You cupped your hands around it while she lighted the thin stick. “It’s not like anything is going to change. It was very clear that this was just for business.” Turning back after blowing away some smoke, Shoko looked at you pointedly, making you turn away, caught in a lie.
“Look Y/N, its fine if you want to think of it that way. But I know how you feel about him. Ever since we were in school you’ve had feelings for him. I’m sure those never went away; I had even tried to set you up with Hakari, but you always managed to avoid it somehow.” You knew you were a bit dense in that department but had always had your suspicions about this. “Don’t worry, as soon as he saw you did not seem interested, he was happy to fall back to a friend role, but whatever happens, know that I’ll be there.” Smiling, you walked up to her and hugged her, pulling her cigarette from her lips, and taking a drag yourself. ‘Thank you Ieiri,” you said, as you threw the cigarette down and crushed it under your heel.
Linking arms, you both walked back inside and saw that Sukuna was the only one left in the room. “Shoko, well meet you at my house. Y/N is riding with me from here on out,” he said, stuffing his hands into his pockets. Looking at you, Shoko smiled and started to head out.
Once she was out of the room, Sukuna turned to you. “Listen, I found out that Obaachan set up a trip for us, we would be leaving tonight.” You did not know what to think. A trip sounded nice but being in some random location for who knows how many days with him, and his 90 emotions sounded draining. “Oh, that’s…sweet. Is that something you want?”
He looked at you purposely and running a hand through his hair he shook his head, “No, I don’t. I think it’s better for both of us if we keep our interactions minimal.” You felt sadness wash over you, he was speaking to you more but obviously still held some sort of grudge towards you. “Okay, well we can just say no or just stay away for a while and pretend we went on the trip.”
With a nod, you started to walk away before remembering the present you had gotten for Sukuna. Walking back towards him, you opened your bag and handed him a small box. You held out your hand to him, and he stared at you puzzled. “Here, if you don’t want it, you can sell it or give it away. Please, j-just take it,” you walked a step closer to him and he raised his hand, where you placed the box. He looked at you for a second, before opening it and looking inside.
“How did you get this?” he stared at the box incredulously. It had taken you a few calls in the limited time you had, but you had been able to locate your father’s old Cellini Rolex. Ever since you were children, Sukuna had always loved your father’s watch, which he would sometimes place in his small wrist as a child and let him play with it. After their passing, some things had been lost in trusts and safe boxes, but you had called in some favors to be able to locate it. Even if Sukuna and you never became at least cordial, you were genuinely happy he would be the one to have your father’s watch. You figured this was a good peace offering and a nice effort from your part.
“It doesn’t matter, it’s yours now so you can do what you want with it,” and with that, you turned on your heel and walked outside.
Once you reached the parking lot, you looked for Sukuna’ s car, finding it quickly and walking towards it. You heard the locks open and looking around, you saw Sukuna walking towards you. Opening the door, you got inside and waited for him to arrive.
Once he got in the car, it was a silent drive to the Ryoumen residence. You both arrived and once parked, both walked inside to the dining room where you could hear everyone talking. You would have rather walked inside by yourself, but you did not want to worry Obaachan and Aunt Akane.
“Y/N, Sukuna, come on, let’s start,” Aunt Akane called as soon as you both crossed the door. Looking for Shoko, you sat next to her, with Sukuna following silently behind you. As dinner was served, everyone talked excitedly about the wedding, with Sukuna and Isamu reverting to business right away.
Once dinner was over and drinks were being served all around, you were about to excuse yourself for the night when Mizuna stood up and called for everyone’s attention. “My boy, I am so happy you have finally found someone to share your life with. I could not be any happier that it is with my lovely Y/N, I knew ever since you both were children that you would be in each other’s lives forever. I understand the bride gets to decide how she wants to celebrate her big day, so while you decided on a small ceremony, I at least want to do this for you.” Handing you an envelope, you reached over to take it, dreading opening it in front of everybody.
You opened the envelope, finding an itinerary to a hotel stay in Jeju Island. The hotel and information provided screamed romance and intimacy, something that you were not feeling up for. “Obachaan, thank you so much. This is lovely, we would love to take this, but work has been so busy I don’t think I’d have the time to go.”
Mizuna shook her head, “nonsense Y/N, you’re my daughter now, let me spoil you.” Mizuna’s sweet face made you waver, feeling like a horrible person for declining her gift. You were seething at Sukuna’ s silence next to you, letting you take the load of the problem.
At least he Had the decency to look embarrassed.
Swallowing your pride, you smiled and nodded, you’d have to endure it, both of you would. “Okay, thank you obachaan. I’m sorry for being difficult, but we’re very thankful. If we could just leave tomorrow though, I can leave something for Ieiri and the employees on items that need attention. Besides, I would need to pack.”
“Y/N do not worry about anything. Mizuna had let me know about this previously, so I have packed a couple of bags for you. Also, I will go ahead and step in to assist Ieiri during your absence. It may not seem like it, but I am very up to date on everything going on with the company, so there is no need to fill me in. Enjoy your honeymoon you two! Besides, you two need alone time if you’re to give me a grandnephew soon!” Your aunt gleefully exclaimed, turning to Mizuna to discuss the possibility of a baby, much to your chagrin.
Mortified, you turned to look down at your hands balled up on your lap. There couldn’t have been a worse outcome even if you tried. Sukuna and you were now stuck together on an island for an undetermined number of days, regardless of if you’d spend them together or not. You suddenly felt him lean towards you and quietly he whispered, “get ready, we’re leaving in 1 hour.” With that he stood up, bowed to everyone at the table and sauntered off. Your face must have looked a mess because Shoko quickly got up, pulling you with her and leading you upstairs. “I will help Y/N change, thank you aunty for letting me know where all her bags are waiting earlier. We’ll get ready for their departure,” bowing, she turned to Isamu, “thank you sir, lovely evening as always.”
Shoko pulled you upstairs to a room and headed to the bags and suitcases on the bed as you closed the door. Sitting down next to window facing the driveway, you could see an SUV pulled up, loading a few suitcases already. “Here Y/N, put this on. I did sift through it and Aunty didn’t pick such bad stuff! It’s all perfect for Jeju actually.”
Walking over to her, you grabbed the clothes and headed to the bathroom, leaving the door open while you and she discussed the trip. “I know you said that he was acting distant towards you but maybe this will be good for the both of you! Give you some time to spend together and just catch up.”
You laughed bitterly, “I think that would be easier if he didn’t apparently hate me. He did let me know at the courthouse ahead of time about the surprise and said he didn’t want to take this trip, so that’s why I tried to get out of it too.” Shoko quietly nodded, pressing her lips into a thin line. “Are you sure about this Y/N, if you ask for a divorce, I’m sure that…” shaking your head you smiled at your friend. “Don’t worry Shoko, it’ll be fine.”
Shoko and you looked over your bags to pass the time, her teasing you endlessly when you both realized all the sleepwear Aunt Akane had packed was nothing but flimsy nighties and silk shorts and camisoles, no doubt to get the ball rolling on the baby making. Making a note to buy some sweats and t shirts once you got there, you both took your bags downstairs as the hour was almost up. As everything was loaded, Mizuna, aunt Akane and Shoko discussed the plan to manage the company in your absence as you looked around for Sukuna.
You decided to go look for him as Aunt Akane had mentioned he was in the study with Isamu. You were about to knock to let them know everything was ready to leave, you saw the door was ajar and there seemed to be an argument going on. “I don’t want to hear it, Sukuna. You need to get that girl pregnant as soon as possible. I don’t care what you have to do, just do it.” “Father, I told you the only reason she did this was for her company, she has no interest in me whatsoever.” You had never heard Sukuna be so submissive to anyone, you were shocked and fixed into place at the argument.
With a sardonic laugh, Isamu continued his tirade, “Please, anyone can see how much she likes you. Even when you were children, she followed you around like a fool. Now that you’re both older anyone can still see the stupid infatuation she has for you. Get her pregnant and then divorce her later, I don’t care. You can then go back to your pointless conquests and one-night stands like that girl Yuki at work.” You did not hear what Sukuna replied with, you spun on your heel and walked back to where everyone else was waiting. You were afraid that if you heard anymore, you’d start crying and have to explain to Mizuna and aunt Akane the reason. Once you reached the group, everyone looked at you expectantly, “They’re coming, they were just going over some stuff that will need to be taken care of while Sukuna is gone.”
Everyone seemed to buy your answer but Shoko, who looked at you with narrowed eyes. Before she could pry more into what had happened, Sukuna and Isamu emerged from the study. “Well, the children will go now. The company plane is ready, so you guys better get on your way.” Bowing to Isamu, you began to say goodbye to Mizuna and Aunt Akane, then hugging Shoko while she whispered in your ear, “call me if you need anything.”
You both got in the SUV and waved goodbye as you drove away. Once on the road, you fiddled with your hands nervously, looking straight ahead. “Is everything okay?” You heard Sukuna ask you quietly. Turning slowly to look at him, you saw his crimson eyes lined with worry for some reason. He doesn’t care about you, and he never will, you thought bitterly. All this had been a mistake and any semblance of love you held for each other when you were younger was obviously gone from his end. It had been a mistake to go through with this, but you were in too deep now to have any regrets.
Nodding you turned your head to watch the scenery passing outside, “It’s been a long day, I’m just tired.” You closed your eyes, trying to shut out everything. You heard him shuffle nervously next to you, “Right, we’ll, don’t worry you can sleep on the plane. The seats are very comfortable.” You turned your body away from him, trying to get him to stop talking.
The car ride continued in silence until you felt it coming to a stop. Opening your eyes, you saw you were at the hangar. Quickly gathering your things, you opened the door and jumped out, heading towards the plane. You heard Sukuna talking to the attendant getting your bags, so you walked inside the plane, greeting the attendants warmly. Making a beeline for a single seat, you settled in for takeoff, asking one of the attendants for a whiskey, hoping to knock yourself out for the remainder of the flight.
As the attendant handed you the drink, Sukuna climbed aboard, narrowing his eyes at seeing you in a single seat and the drink in your hand. As you threw back the whiskey, you handed the glass back and settled in, fastening your seatbelt. You could feel his eyes burning holes on the back of your head from his seat, but you were too tired to care now. You felt the plane roar to life and soon you were in the air. Sukuna made small talk with one of the attendants as you settled into your seat, letting the alcohol and tiredness sweep over your body.
You woke with a start, looking around you confused. You were in the back of a car next to Sukuna, being driven in the darkness. “Oh, you’re up, I hope you had a good sleep,” Sukuna murmured. Straightening up, you nodded and looked at him. He was absentmindedly scrolling through his phone. “How did I get in the car?” He looked at you and you could have sworn you saw a blush in his face. “I carried you, you were completely out.” You felt embarrassed, not wanting him to have more contact with you than necessary if he didn’t want it. “Sorry. You should have woken me up.”
With a small chuckle, Sukuna turned to look at you, “Believe me I tried. But don’t worry, I’m strong. Besides, I used to carry you all the time before, it’s not like its anything new.” You nodded and turned to look outside. Once again, his hot and cold attitude was giving you a headache. The slight reminder of your old teasing relationship was pulling at your heartstrings, but you were soon reminded of the conversation he had with his father. This was surely just a ploy to get on your good side.
The car ride continued in silence, until it pulled up to a hotel. You quickly grabbed your bag, and getting off, thanked the driver. Standing off to the side, you watched as the bags were being pulled out of the car until Sukuna called out to you and you followed him inside. Walking quietly to the lobby, you stood behind him while he checked in, watching amusedly as the receptionist flirted shamelessly with him. You saw him look back towards you and say loudly, “Yes, actually I am here on my honeymoon so if there is anything you recommend my wife and I do while here, that’d be great.” You smiled and waved at the girl who looked at you defeatedly, handing Sukuna a set of keys and muttered an unenthusiastic congratulations at you. Turning, you both headed towards the elevator in silence, following behind him once you reached your floor and walking inside when he opened the door to your room.
You walked towards the bedroom, finding your bags, and quickly pulling out a pair of shorts and Cami. Before heading to the bathroom, you saw Sukuna standing at the door looking at you intently. “If you feel uncomfortable, I can sleep on the couch.” You contemplated on taking him up on that offer, needing to leave that wall up, but figured you’d be tired of staying guarded all this time. You shook your head as you walked towards the bathroom, “No, it’s okay. We’re two adults and we used to be friends, it’s not weird. Besides, it’s not like anything is going to happen.” Nodding, Sukuna walked towards the bed flopping down and putting his hands behind his head, “Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
With that, you headed into the bathroom to change. After finishing, you walked out into the room and almost walked right back. Sukuna was lying on the bed shirtless, with the covers only up to his waist. You felt your ears redden, but walked over to your side of the bed, pulling the covers up to your shoulders and turning your back to him. “Goodnight Sukuna.” You heard him laugh quietly, feeling the heat from his body underneath the sheets. “Are you sure you don’t want me to sleep on the couch?” Turning to look back at him, you shook your head and smiled at him, “I’m sure, this is fine. Don’t worry about it.”
He turned over to turn off the lamp on the bedside table, settling down under the covers.
“Alright, if you say so little one. Sweet dreams.”
Feeling uncomfortably warm, you opened your eyes. Looking around, you figured it was the sun coming in from the balcony windows. As you were about to get up, you felt a heaviness on your waist. Looking down, you saw Sukuna’ s big hand on your hip. As you looked back at him, you found him near your side of the bed, almost pressed up against you. His face seemed younger without the permanent scowl etched onto his face you saw ever since meeting with him again. He seemed in a very deep sleep, so you brought your finger up to his mouth and traced it across his plump bottom lip. Before he could wake up, you pulled your hand back, giggling softly at the scowl that permeated his face at the loss of contact.
You carefully removed his hand from you as you got up, fixing the sheets for him, and smiling as he rolled over to where you had been lying. You walked over to the balcony, opening the door quietly and heading out. As you reached the railing, you leaned on it, looking at the morning sun high in the sky already. Looking at your phone, it was already noon, you both had really slept in. Feeling hungry, you quickly looked up where you could grab some lunch, already salivating at the fresh seafood they were sure to have. As you found a place you could walk to, you were about to get ready and go, but figured you’d invite Sukuna just to be nice.
Turning to head back inside, you stopped in your tracks. Sukuna was leaning on the door frame, looking at you and drinking a coffee. “Where’d you get that?” you murmured, walking closer to him. He chuckled at your actions, handing you the mug. Taking it, you took a big swig of the drink, humming in gratitude. “There’s a coffee maker in the living room, you didn’t see it?” You shook your head, handing the mug back to him. “Finish it. So, it looks like it is late, you want to go eat something?” You nodded, “There’s actually a place that sounds pretty good near here. We can walk there.” Sukuna looked at you, feeling flustered at really seeing you that morning. Your hair was loose, going crazy in the slight breeze that afternoon. Your lips still appeared a little swollen at having woken up not too long ago and it looked like you were not wearing anything under your pajamas, as your pebbled nipples pressed against the satin of your camisole.
“Hey are you okay? Maybe you’re still tired, we can just stay inside and rest if you want.” Before he could make a fool of himself, Sukuna grabbed the mug from your hands and headed inside. He was annoyed at how easily you both would fall back into your playful banter and felt like you were back to your youth, feeling so comfortable with each other. “Get ready then, well walk there if you say its close.”
Smiling you rushed inside, grabbing some items, and heading towards the bathroom. You had not noticed, but it looked like Sukuna had brought his laptop with him. He was sitting at the small table in the room, going over some emails. “Don’t worry, I just needed to check on some stuff I was waiting for.” Nodding, you lingered at the door. Sukuna turned to look at you with a scowl, “What?” Figuring you should try to get along with him as much as possible, you looked back to his bags and muttered, “Did you want me to get anything ready for you? I’m not sure what you brought but if there anything you want to wear, I can put it out.”
He looked at you with a sardonic smile, closing his computer. “That’s right, you’re my wife now.” You scoffed about to turn back and go shower when he said, “I don’t expect you to do anything for me, it’s not like you’re my maid or anything.” He got up and walked towards you, getting closer and closer until you backed up and felt the door frame behind you. “But that would be nice Y/N, thank you.” He tucked your hair behind your ear and went back to his computer. Flustered, you nodded and headed to his bags, picking out some clothes you figured he’d be comfortable wearing.
A short while later, you were both on your way to the restaurant, walking in a comfortable silence on the side of the road. You had never been to Jeju Island before, so regardless if the situation with Sukuna a little tense, you couldn’t help but feel extremely excited to be somewhere new and explore. You soon arrived at the restaurant, and choosing to sit outside, you both ordered and sat in a comfortable silence while waiting. Once your plates were brought out, you both began eating, surprisingly hungry from the traveling and late night. “
“Is this your first time in Jeju?” Turning to look at Sukuna, he eyed you curiously. Nodding, you placed your plate in the side, taking a sip of your coffee. “Weird, I would have thought that Minato and Hana would have brought you here. From what I remember, they loved coming here with my parents.” You stiffened and scooted back in your seat, “we were supposed to, but then they had that accident, so I never got around to coming here.”
Sukuna wanted to punch himself, he remembered how much your parents’ death had affected you and how upset you had been at the funeral. H had only been able to get you out of your room by letting you hold his hand for the whole service. He had stayed with you for a whole week after and you both had slept in the same bed for that whole week, both in each other’s arms. Nothing had happened of course, even though Sukuna had had thought of it before, but being there for each other in every aspect of your lives had been the most fulfilling relationship he had ever had up until now.
He didn’t realize he had been clutching the side of the table until you pried his hands off it. You were holding his hands worriedly in yours, “is everything okay? I know you’re strong but...” Your halfhearted attempt at a joke had fallen flat when you noticed him staring intently at you.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you.” He looked at you earnestly and you felt it was the younger Sukuna looking at you. Smiling you patted his hand, “Don’t worry, I’m here now. And I’m with my old friend, even if you hate me, I’m sure we can have a good time.”
Grumbling, he stood up and made to head inside. As you were getting up to go with him, he pushed you back down. “Wait here, I’m going to pay and then there’s a place I want to show you.”
Nodding you sat back down, looking around the area. Across the road you could see the beach and a couple of children playing around. You got up and walked towards a bench near the road, making sure you were still where Sukuna could find you easily. Looking around, you saw three small children playing around with a puppy. Two of them, a boy and a girl were running around, while the other boy stroked a calming hand on the puppy’s black fur, as if encouraging him to play too. Smiling, you couldn’t help but wonder if your marriage would amount to anything, and if it did, the possibility of having children together.
Lost in your thoughts, you didn’t notice when the kids started drifting towards you, curious about the stranger sitting in the bench. “Hello! I’m Yuuji and this is Nobara and Megumi. What are you doing?” You laughed at the clear leader of the young pack. “Waiting for someone, what where you guys playing?” Gathering courage at your friendly disposition, they soon crowded around you on the bench chatting you up.
The little girl, quickly scrambled into the bench, plucking at the straps of your dress, “ooh your dress is so pretty! When I’m older I’m going to wear pretty dresses like this!” Turning to look at her, you noticed a peculiar straw doll she was holding in her small hand. “Thank you! I really like your doll too.” Small cheeks reddening at your compliment, she started showing you what it could do. The other two boys were soon trying to pull your attention from Nobara, “Y/N look how fast I can run! And look Megumi can ride his puppy like a horse!”
Turning to look at the little spiky haired boy, he looked bored, but picked up his black puppy and passed him to you, “I can, but he’s tired from playing.” Laying the puppy in your lap, he snuggled closer to you, as you stroked his shiny black fur. “He likes you,” Megumi said, cracking a smile. As all three kept talking to you and you tried to pay attention to all of them, Yuuji suddenly shrieked and started pulling your hand. “YN, a scary man is coming this way, run!” Trying to not drop the puppy, you turned, a pretty good idea who they were talking about.
“Kids no don’t worry. This is who I was waiting for, my h-husband.” Even now it felt weird saying it. Sukuna walked over to you, a plastic bag in hand, “hmm, figures this is where you’d be,” he muttered. “Y/N he’s so scary!” You couldn’t help but laugh at Yuuji’s shocked face and Nobara’s apparent infatuation with Sukuna. Pushing him back, Nobara rushed towards you, hugging your leg tightly, “Y/N so if I wear pretty dresses like this, I can get a big and strong husband like yours?” Patting her head you laughed, “No, I’ve known him ever since I was little, and I didn’t dress like this. We have been friends for a long time,” you figured it would be best to lie to Nobara instead of crushing her thoughts on love, “somewhere there we fell in love.”
“Who you got there?” Sukuna asked, staring at the sleeping pup in your arms. “Oh! This is Megumi’s dog,” before you could say anything else, he gingerly took the puppy from you, and giving it a few scratches behind the ears, handed it off to Megumi. “Nice dog, kid. Make sure you take care of it.” Nodding, Megumi cradled the sleeping puppy in his arms. “Well, sorry kids but We got to go.” The three groaned in unison, sad their new friend was leaving. “Where are you going!?” Nobara asked excitedly, “are you taking Y/N on a date?” Laughing, Sukuna nodded and crouching down called Nobara over and whispered something in her ear. The young girl shrieked with enthusiasm, and high fived Sukuna when he held out his hand. “Noo! Take Nobara, Y/N can stay with Megumi and I!”
Punching Yuuji surprisingly hard for a young girl, Nobara pulled Megumi back to their playing stop as she waved goodbye. “Bye! Come play with us again Y/N! Bye Sukuna!” Waving goodbye, you let Sukuna lead you to a waiting cab, chuckling as you got in. “What’s so funny?” Sukuna asked. “Still a hit with the ladies,” you said. Groaning, Sukuna pulled out his phone, “they were alright, but that little brat Megumi seemed kinda cool.” You smiled, amused Sukuna would find the most aloof kid cool. “By the way, where are we going?” Sukuna looked over at you and smiled, turning around, and looking out the car. “Weirdo,” you muttered, loud enough for him to hear.
After a few more minutes, the car stopped next to a road leading into the forest. Thanking the driver, you both got off, with Sukuna letting him know to come back in one hour. As he drove off, you looked around excitedly. Even though you were in the forest, you had always enjoyed the outdoors so exploring was exciting.
A thought did cross your mind though.
“Are you going to kill me?” Turning to look at you in shock, Sukuna laughed. “You really are a freak. No, come on.” You both set off on the path leading into the woods, and after some walking, you started to hear water. Excitedly, you sped up, catching up to Sukuna. “Getting anxious?” With a smile, you nodded. After a few more minutes of walking, you came to a clearing at the top of a staircase, where you could see you had reached the end of the island, and you could see the ocean. You stopped, astonished. You had seen the ocean before, but never in this way. You felt breathless at the way the water extended as far as the eye could see, the ocean and the sky blending into one at the farthest point. Things like this made you feel as if all the problems you ever had were insignificant.
You could see at the bottom of the stairs a plunge pool where the waterfall ended at. As you were about to bound down the stairs in excitement, Sukuna stopped you. Before you could start complaining, he reached for your hand.
“It’s slippery.”
Nodding, you intertwined your fingers with his and made your way down. As you reached the bottom, you could see a few rocks littered round the edge, sloping down into a deeper end closer to the fall. Sukuna led you to a pile of rocks near the cliff, setting the bag he was carrying down and pulling his shirt off. “Oh, you’re getting in. Give me your stuff, I’ll take care of it.” As you sat down in a large rock and removed your sandals to dip your feet in, Sukuna put everything in the bag and hung it in a small tree. “No way, you’re getting in with me.” You snorted. “No way, besides, I just have underwear underneath this. I’ll watch you, have fun.”
You didn’t know if he remembered, but you didn’t know how to swim. Before, it was alright, but now as a 26-year-old woman, it was a bit embarrassing. You waved as he waded deeper into the pond, leaning back on your hands, and looking up at the sky, letting your skin soak up the warmth. Turning back to the water, you realized that Sukuna was nowhere to be seen. You knew that he was a good swimmer, so was he underwater? Regardless, it had been a couple of minutes, surely, he couldn’t hold his breath for such a long time.
Worried, you carefully got off your rock and waded in deeper into the water. Pulling your dress up to your thighs, this was as far as you could comfortably get and started looking for him? Could he be stuck underneath? “Sukuna,” you called softly.
Damn it, people were going to think you killed him. What were you going to tell Mizuna?
Trying to wade into the water a little bit more, you suddenly heard water sloshing around you. Turning, you saw a flash of pink emerge from the water and faster than you were able to react, Sukuna wrapped his arms around you tightly and jumped deeper into the pond, laughing as you yelled out, “YOU ASS!”
Under water, you flailed anxiously to the top, trying to stay afloat. As you tried to not die, Sukuna grabbed one of your hands and pulled you towards him. You threw your arms around his neck as you wrapped your legs around his waist. “I knew it, you were going to kill me. Shoko will know it wasn’t an accident, she’ll fight you for the company.” Sukuna laughed his big hearty laugh, but you were too scared to care entirely. “Don’t worry brat, remember what a good swimmer I am? I make up for your lack of skill” You calmed down a bit, loosening your hold on Sukuna as you weaved one hand through the water.
“This is my favorite place in the island. My grandpa brought me here when I was smaller and I loved it so much, I came back whenever I could. Nobara agreed that this was a good place to bring you.”
“That little girl almost stole my husband,” you said with a laugh. Sukuna inhaled sharply at your words, and before you could truly be embarrassed by what you said, you continued, “thank you for sharing this place. It’s beautiful.”
You both continued to float around, enjoying the cool water in the warm day in a comfortable silence. Sukuna was the first to speak, “Y/N, do you regret marrying me?” You turned to look at him, surprised at his frankness.
You shook your head, “No, I don’t. I feel that you might though, or that you don’t feel the same way about me as when we were kids, for us to at least have a friendship or…something close to that.” Sukuna smiled sadly at you, making you feel unnerved. “Y/N, you’re the most important person in my life. I’m not…a good person though. You shouldn’t feel how you feel about me, tough. I don’t deserve it.” He brought his hand to your face, caressing your cheek with his thumb. You felt dazed, so Sukuna didn’t hate you? But he did not want to have anything more than a friendship with you? At this point his hot cold attitude was pissing you off.
“What is tha- what is that even supposed to mean.” Moving his hand to the back of your neck, Sukuna pulled you closer to him and kissed you. You were aggravated, but the feeling of his lips slotting against yours in such a perfect manner made you feel giddy. Swiping his tongue along your bottom lip, you opened your mouth slightly and whimpered as he slipped his tongue into your mouth, feeling warmth at the shared breath between the two of you, like one needing the other to be able to breathe.
Sukuna pulled you closer, running one hand down your back and kneading your ass lightly as you arched into him. You felt a fuzziness in the pit of your stomach and suddenly, coming back to your senses and realizing you were out in the open, you pulled away slowly as Sukuna followed you, eyes dazed and lidded with lust. “What wrong?” You smiled and looked back, “I think we need to go; you told the driver one hour, no?” Sukuna seemed to focus and nodding, moved you over to his back and began swimming to the edge. once you felt ground underneath you, you untangled yourself from Sukuna and walked beside him. As you both walked to where your things were, Sukuna pulled off his boxers, surprising you and making you turn away. “What are you doing?!” Smirking, he walked over to the bag, pulling out a small towel and his shorts. “Shut up, we’re married.” Once he deemed himself dry enough, he pulled on a pair of shorts and t shirt, giving them a shake to take out the creases. While he did this, you couldn’t help but steal a look and could feel the heat pooling in the pit of your stomach at the sight of his muscular thighs and well-defined ass. Before he could catch you, you turned away, opting to wring out your dress as best you could, figuring it wouldn’t dry by the time you made it back on the road.
“You can look now you prude,” turning you saw him all changed, and as you were going to start walking back up the stairs, he handed you the plastic bag he’d been carrying. “I bought some clothes for you too, change. And take everything off unless you want to get sick.” Realizing he was not going to turn around, unabashed as ever, you grabbed the bag from him and made your way over to some bushes, “stay right there I’ll be right back.” Once you were gone, Sukuna sat on the bottom step, staring aimlessly while you came back. After a few minutes, he heard a couple of voices coming from the top of the steps. Looking up, he saw a group of boys making their way rowdily down to the pond. Glaring at them, he got up going to look for you. He was sure that you would be near the bushes closest to the pond, but as he got closer, you were nowhere to be found. As he was about to call out for you, he stopped in his tracks when he found you, your back turned to him as you unhooked your bra and peeled your panties off, tossing them in a pile with your wet dress.
Sukuna couldn’t look away. In his wildest dreams he would have never imagined the little lanky girl he grew up with would turn into you. Keeping away from you was getting harder. You were full of curves he longed to run his hands over, plush thighs he couldn’t wait to grip and nibble on as they straddled his face. The image of Your perfect ass bouncing on his cock was something that he suddenly really wanted to make happen. You still had your back turned to him, but all he could imagine now was coming up behind you and kneading your perfect soft tits in his hands making you whimper as he had done earlier at the pool. That was a sound he wanted to hear over and over, and his cock had gotten hard at just the thought of it.
You began to throw on the t shirt and shorts that Sukuna had gotten, and before you could catch him, he walked off a ways, making sure you’d find him while also keeping an eye on the boys who had reached the bottom, making sure they did not see you. He heard steps behind him, and turning, you were walking towards him, swinging the bag around. “Oh, what’s wrong?” Shaking his head, Sukuna grabbed your hand an led you towards the steps and up them, “Nothing, just waiting for you.” Shrugging, you followed him, surprised to see more people now at the waterfall. Once you reached the top, Sukuna led you down the path towards the road, still holding your hand. At the road, you were happy to see the car was waiting for you both already, feeling a bit tired from the water. As you climbed on, you both remained in a comfortable silence, you making sure not to fall asleep as to make sure that Sukuna wouldn’t have to carry you. Once you reached the hotel, you both bided goodbye to the driver and made your way up to the room.
Once inside, you lied down in the bed. “You should take a bath, so you don’t catch a cold.” Nodding you sleepily grabbed some clothes and went into the bathroom, taking a shower as quick as possible. You felt as if you could fall asleep just by closing your eyes. Once you were out, Sukuna mentioned he would take a shower as well. While he was inside, you decided to set some sleepwear for him on the bed. You were too tired to tell him, but figured he’d see it once he got out. After setting out his clothes, you opened the balcony window slightly, and lied down, closing your eyes. a few minutes later, you felt the bed dip next to you and a hand rub your arm. “Y/N, are you hungry or anything?” Shaking your head, you turned around towards him. You felt him tuck your hair behind your ear, and you leaned in towards his touch. “Y/N, I meant what I said. I’m not good for you.” You opened your eyes slightly, finding his face to be inches from yours. Reaching up, you pushed his hair back, and ran your index finger down his jaw. “Just sleep for now,” closing your eyes back again.
With a chuckle, Sukuna took your hand, running his thumb across your knuckles and lightly kissing them. Smiling, you slotted your fingers with his, drifting off to the most peaceful sleep you had in a long time.
You woke up what felt like hours later. You noticed the room was dark and noticed Sukuna’ s side was empty. Lying on your back for a few minutes, you gathered your bearings before getting up and walking to the coffee maker and turning it on. Walking over to the balcony, you noticed Sukuna was already outside, sitting in one of the chairs. “How was your nap,” you headed over to the railing and leaned over it, looking down into the street. “It was good. Stop that Y/N you’ll fall over.”
His dry tone made you turn around, “what’s wrong?” You figured he was still waking up or might feel sick or something, “oh by the way, I’m making some coffee. Did you want one?” He hummed and looked at you with narrowed eyes. “I was being serious Y/N. Why are you acting like this, I told you it was better if this didn’t move forward but you’re acting so nice and ignoring everything I’ve told you.”
His cold tone made you shiver and remain where you were standing. Where was this coming from, the whole afternoon you both had a good time, enjoying each other’s company. While he had expressed this before, you were fine with it. If you could go back to the friendship you had before parting ways, this marriage would be enough for you. He was the one with his unpredictable mood swings, acting aloof one time and kissing you the other. You probably should not have kissed him back if this was how he reacted, but in your defense, he had initiated that whole encounter.
“Sukuna, I-I just asked you if you wanted coffee.” He stood up, walking to the farthest part of the balcony, as far away from you as he could get. “You’re making this harder than it has to be, I told you that we should keep this marriage as simple as possible, but…” he muttered, running his hand through his hair in frustration. Why was he acting this way? If it had been you, trying to seduce him or acting a type of way, you’d understand. But every single kiss, every single touch had been initiated by him.
“But what? But what? You’re the one who pulled me into the water earlier, the one who kissed me and touched me. Yes, I did return every single one of those actions but what did you expect, you already know how I-I - “you couldn’t continue, tears were already falling gradually down your face, your lower lip trembling. Looking at your feet, you felt him come towards you. “Yeah, I know how you feel. I told you from the beginning, loving someone is pointless. Stop crying too, it’s all you ever did since we were kids.” He sauntered inside, leaving you alone outside.
You were going to stay outside, stay alone outside and cry, try and find some sort of solace in the night and the sound of the ocean. But you couldn’t.
You walked inside, looking for Sukuna in the darkness. You saw him sitting at the table, staring at his phone scrolling aimlessly. “Divorce me. Divorce me then. When we get back, we’ll get a divorce. You don’t even have to knock me up like your father wants, what’s the point of dragging an innocent child into this. Why do you want to be with a lovesick fool who just follow you around like an idiot? You can go ahead and go back to sleeping around and be with girls clearly more your taste like Yuki.”
If Sukuna was surprised, he did not show it. You were shaking at how upset you were, and the death stare Sukuna was giving you did not help. You both stared at each other, but you wouldn’t look away, not this time. You saw Sukuna, s jaw clenched, and with a sardonic smile, said “No,” and turned back to look at his phone.
The tension and anxiety you had felt for the last couple of days slowly left your body, and you couldn’t feel anything anymore. “What did I do to you?” You quietly said. Staring at your feet, you continued. “You were my best friend for my whole life, and I didn’t think we’d end up this way after meeting up again. I loved y- I love you and you were never this cruel. If it was that I wasn’t there enough for you after your mother died, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I still hate myself for that to this day and always will, but you surely don’t want to keep this up forever.”
You turned to look at him as he got up and walked toward you. You hadn’t felt it, but it looked like you were crying again. Sukuna caressed your face, wiping away a tear with his thumb. “You’re my best friend too, baby. And you’ve known me for so long, that you should know better than anyone how much I enjoy a challenge. Besides you and I were both pretty stubborn if I remember.” He smiled sweetly at you, his hand still in your check.
“Hakari was right, you are an asshole.” The smile wiped completely from his face, and he brought his hand down to your jaw, squeezing tightly. “When we get back, we should really review the employment list at your company.” He then squeezed your cheeks, making your lips pucker, and pecked your lips, before leaving you once more.
He grabbed his phone and walked out of the room you felt a sob escape from deep inside you, and wrapping your arms around yourself, you decided to go to bed. As you were about to lie down, you stood up. If he was somehow turning everything around and blaming you, you would not give him any more opportunities to do this to you. Grabbing a blanket from the closet, you walked over to the sofa. Luckily it was long enough for you, and lying down, you closed your eyes, trying to sleep as best you could.
What felt like a few minutes later, you heard fiddling at the door. Scared, you sat up quickly, trying to make yourself as small as possible against the sofa. Stupid Sukuna had to pick the middle of the night to leave. After a few more jiggles of the knob, the door opened, and you saw with abated relief Sukuna walking in. You lied back down and closed your eyes, only to open them abruptly when you heard him bump into every possible item in the room. Was he drunk?
As you saw him reach the bed, he stayed still for a few second before looking out at the balcony, then walking over to the bathroom. He was probably really drunk. You closed your eyes again; you wouldn’t help him unless he fell or started throwing up. After a few moments of silence, you heard your name, then a hand grabbing your arm and pulling you up. “What are you doing there, come to bed.”
You leaned back, trying to pull your arm away and go back to the couch. Surprisingly, in his inebriated state, Sukuna was still very strong and wrapping his arm around you finished pulling you towards the bed. “Stop, what are you doing,” you said as he began to lie down. “Bringing you to bed, just go to sleep,” he said as he tried to remove his shirt while lying down. Rolling your eyes, you began to walk back to the sofa, when you felt Sukuna behind you. He grabbed your arm again and this time you thrashed around, trying to pry yourself from him.
You both began struggling, you, trying to untangle yourself from him as Sukuna tried to pull you close to him and make you sleep in the same bed as him. After a brief struggle, you were somehow lying down, with Sukuna on top of you, straddling you, his hands pinning your arms beside your head.
After you had calmed your breathing down, you looked at Sukuna. He was obviously very drunk, but his eyes appeared extremely focused. “I don’t understand you, you hate me, but if I try to give you space, I can’t.” He lessened the pressure on your arms, and when he was sure you wouldn’t try getting away, he pushed your hair back, tracing your jaw with his index finger.
“I can’t tell you, I-I don’t… right now I can’t tell you what’s going on Y/N.” With a sigh you closed your eyes, “I’m so stupid, for even- I’m so dumb for trying to help you still. Isamu was right, I’m a fool who just follows you around.” Giving Sukuna a smile you continued, “you know you can tell me anything.” He leaned forward, pressing his forehead against yours, “I loved having you with me all the time, I was the happiest when you were following me around.” You couldn’t help it, but you let out a sob, breaking the silence around you both.
“Y/N, please don’t ask me for a divorce. J-just please, don’t leave me. Stay with me,” said Sukuna as he ran his nose down your throat, finishing off by resting his head in your chest, listening to the quick beat of your heart. You closed your eyes shut, trying to stop anymore tears from falling, “okay, b- “Before you could continue, Sukuna’ s lips were once more on yours, stealing your breath yet again. He kissed you eagerly, one hand holding your face carefully, as his other hand ran down your body, down your thigh, and hooking your leg at his waist. Once he was fitted between your legs, Sukuna pressed his groin against your core, making you moan into his lips as you kissed him.
You could feel the prominent bulge in his shorts already. You ran your hands through his hair, softer than you ever remembered, and down his back. You grabbed the hem of his shirt and started to pull it up. Once he understood what you wanted, Sukuna pulled away from you and in one motion, threw his shirt off and to the side of the bed. He leaned back down to find your lips, quickly settling back into a rhythm, swiping your bottom lip as you opened your mouth and felt his tongue caress yours softly. Whimpering, you brought Your hands to Sukuna’ s chest, running your hands lightly down, caressing his nipples softly with your fingertips, rolling them around.
At this, Sukuna let out a pleasured moan, breaking from you, and running his nose across your jaw. “You’re so beautiful Y/N.” He started kissing down your neck, sucking and biting lightly down your pulse point, marking you as best he could. You felt an immense amount of pleasure building in the pit of your stomach, making your hips buck up, meeting Sukuna, who moaned in pleasure into your ear, biting your lobe lightly.
Sukuna then brought his hand back up your body, stopping at your breast. He cupped one with his hand, kneading and rolling your nipple lightly, as his mouth came down to take your other nipple carefully with his teeth and roll it around his mouth through your camisole, the friction making you feel even more sensitive. “Hah- S-Sukuna, please,” you whimpered. His ministrations made you feel an electric shock course to every end of your body, feeling the coil in the pit of your stomach tighten with every touch, every pull from Sukuna. You could feel the wetness pooling in your panties.
You had dreamed of this when you were younger, Sukuna feeling this way about you, wanting you like you wanted him. The love and lust you felt for him was clouding your judgement, make you think less rationally. “Please Y/N, don’t think about anything else, just stay with me, let me make you feel good,” he said as his hand slid down your stomach. You could feel his hand getting lower but before he could dip his hand under the waistband of your shorts, you grabbed his wrist. Sukuna looked up at you as you smiled at him sadly.
“I’ll stay with you b-but I think it’s best for the both of us if we keep a disinterested relationship like you said.” You could see he was about to argue, so you quickly continued, “remember how I said I could take care of myself now? If we’re going to stay together, then we should have a nice simple friendship, if we do this I don’t think I can accept just a friendship. This way I can take care of m-myself.”
Looking down at you, Sukuna nodded. Pulling his body off yours, he sat on the edge of the bed as you picked yourself up and leaned back on your arms. Sukuna stood up and looked back at you, seemingly wanting to add something to salvage this disaster of a night. It was a shame; the day had started out in such a great way. He started heading towards the bathroom, and before closing the door he turned to look at you, “stay in the bed. We can still share one… we used to do that when we were younger.” You looked at him and smiled, nodding slightly, you would allow yourself this selfish action. As you heard the shower turn on, you got up, fixed your top and headed out into the balcony, closing the door quietly behind you.
You turned, looking out into the ocean. If you tried, you could still believe that maybe your problems were insignificant in the grand scope of things. You would really need to try.
