    Starlight, for some unknown reason not entirely expecting to be asked the same, averted her eyes down to the right, dragging a hoof through the ground. Yeah, what had she been doing in the time since then?

Well, about nothing outside of the confines of her room, other than times to fly her kites and buy things from the market, to sum it up.

“Well, uh.. studying?” she pulled out of a bag of ‘Maybe this is good?’ brand responses, shrugging. True, in her time not having to really attain to friendship lessons, she’d used the time to learn willingly from some of the tomes found throughout the castle.

“So that’s going pretty well.. other than that I haven’t really had anything else to do. Not that I don’t want to do anything else, I just haven’t really had anything spring up, you know?” she waved a hoof, hoping Applejack might be able to relate.

‘ Howdy. I uh… Dirk. Dirk Strider. Odd I know, weird name or whatever… your um… ’

He paused in his confused speech, thick accent paused as he began to snap his fingers. sHIT! Why did they all have similar names!?

“Dirk, eh? Not a bad name for a hummus.” she shot back. 

“Starlight Glimmer. Pleasure to meet you.” she took a few steps forward, holding out a hoof. 

“Might I ask what brings you out here?”

“Not likely,” she snickered with a snort. She turned and prepared to leave when it occurred to her that this mare—who she had seen hanging around with the princess—might be useful.

“Actually,” she turned back “I could use some help. You seen any job openings around Ponyville? My sister and I are looking for work and we’re new here. Heard of anything?”

She pulled out a stick of gum and started chewing it, blowing a bubble and popping it in Star’s face. Nobody ever said she was the most tactful Dazzling.

    Wincing, Starlight was already getting a bad feeling about this mare, especially after having such a careless bubble blown before her. She wasn’t sure if helping them was such a good idea, but it wouldn’t hurt to give the least effort, right?

“I guess? I dunno, I’m never exactly looking for job openings.” she thought, scratching the back of her head. The least she could do is probably list off some places that needed help regardless of time of year.

“You could probably check the bakery place, Sugarcube Corner, or maybe see if the new library could use some help.” she listed off, “Quills and Sofa’s needs a new cashier, I think, I didn’t see the one I usually do when I went in the other to day to grab some quills.”

{Aria} "Pfft. Nice hair, chick." she looked the other mare over. They could be relatives the way they looked. She was a darker purple than this mare and her hair wasn't quite the same shade. But the resemblance was still there. "You should wear it up." she offered, examining her hoof lazily.

“Thanks? I grew it myself.” Starlight shot back, eyeing her up and down. It wasn’t hard to notice the similarities between the two. “I’ll think about it. I like the style as is, anyways. Can I help you?” she asked, fidgeting in place out of a feeling of awkwardness.

“I mean, there’s so much that can go wrong in only 26 theoretical situations.”

Upon noticing a burning hole in the back of her head, Starlight wheeled around to find.. well.

Something. It looked like a human, at least from what she remembers Sunset calling the form as such.

For a few minutes, six and a half to be precise, Starlight would only stare into those wide, edge-pointed glasses before saying a single word.

“Got a name?”
