I wanna ask abt letsmakecomics, are we allowed to promote out own works? Because I have started a blog with my new project and would like to “advertise it” thank you!!
Yes, you can totally promote your comic!!
I made the community so people can reach their goal of starting, finishing, and sharing their comic because I know it's a lot of work.
If you go to the pinned comment in the community and go to "resources," there's a link to a Google spreadsheet where you can add your comic so others can check it out.

Hey. I do a lot of writing but I draw like crap. How would I go about trying to find an artist for my stories?
I do know Indie comic writers who find artists on Fiverr. That way, they have a reliable artist who's getting paid straight up and knowingly has decent work.
Maybe you can reach out on reddit as well??
Other than that, I'm not really sure. Good luck to you!

Hi I'm a artist wanting to make a comic however I am not great at writing or story plotting and I was hoping if there was any tips you have for a very beginner in making comics. Only comic's I have are the IDW series of sonic the hedgehog witch is the first three and so far I've only read half of the first one
Hey there!
Before making your comic, having the full story and knowing how it's going to end is super important. You don't want to start your comic, be halfway through with the art, and realize you missed a crucial plot hole (while this can be fixed with dialogue, it may be crappy).
When plotting, this is what I like to do, so it may not be for everyone. When I have my story idea, it's important to develop your main character(s) first and know their wants and needs. Connect it to your story idea and make an outline. I like to use the three act story structure for this. The outline mostly consists of bullet points.
When planning my characters and outline, I highly recommend Sarra Cannon's YouTube Channel, Heart Breathings. She has a whole playlist on how to plot your novel and series. I'll link the playlists at the end.
After making an outline, I write out my entire story, novel style. I then layout the thumbnails of the pages as I organize the story into a script.
Pinterest also has a lot of nice pins for story prompts and tips. Also, check out your local library or bookstore and get some books on creative writing or making comics. I like creating writing books more because they focus on characters and plot more, while books abt making comics focuses more on the visual aspect.
Make sure to branch out and read other comics. There are graphic memoirs like Smile by Raina Telegemeier and El Deafo by Cece Bell; superhero comics like Marvel and DC, manga, and even indie comics.
That's all I have for now. If you ever need any help, feel free to message me or send another ask. Thank you!!
