Yakın tarihimizin bazı büyük olaylarına, uluslararası çatışmalara, kıtlık ve toplu göçlere tanıklık etmiş olan belgesel fotoğrafçı Sebastião Salgado bu kez, modern uygarlık tarafından zarar görmemiş görkemli toprakları keşfe çıkıyor.

Salgado’nun keşif yolculuklarına katılan fotoğrafçı oğlu Juliano Ribeiro Salgado ile Wim Wenders’in yönetmenliğini yaptığı 2014 yapımı film, gezegenin güzelliğine adanmış bu kapsamlı fotoğraf projesine odaklanıyor. Ayrıca, Salgado’nun hayatı, 40 yıllık üretimi, oğluyla olan ilişkisi ve aile hayatından kesitler aktarıyor.

"The Salt of the Earth" (2014) Director: Wim Wenders & Juliano Ribeiro Salgado 110 minutes English, French, Portuguese; Turkish subtitles

The story of renowned photographer Sebastião Salgado is narrated in the documentary chronicling his travels across the continents. In the footsteps of an ever-changing humanity he eventually came to witness some of the major events of our recent history; international conflicts, starvation and exodus.

Accompanied during Salgado’s latest travels, his photographer son Juliano Ribeiro Salgado and director/photographer Wim Wenders were inspired to make a documentary that illustrates his everyday life. What they also created was a unique story of father and son.

In celebration of the 50th World Earth Day, "The Salt of The Earth" (2014) is streaming on SALT Online Vimeo channel between April 21-May 10.
