Jay stood at the front of the flower shop. Procrastinating.

Ever since his mom told him yesterday that he would be running the shop, all of the day was used on training. Jay knew all about it already, having to fill in once or twice when he was younger when either of his parents couldn't.

But this time it was like- permanent.

A whole year stuck at this place. Monday to Friday. 8 hours a day.

He took a deep breath, and finally opened the shop.

It was finally his break time- he closed the shop up and sat on the steps, taking a long sigh.

It was so boring.

Jay had no interest in plants, he majored in engineering for christs sake!! But noooo, he's stuck here. Having to deal with dumb men who hadn't a clue about flowers, giving the most bare minumim description and opting for the cheapest bouquet possible.

Having to deal with smartasses who refuse to not use the scientific names for each flower, acting all high and mighty about how they would arrange it and giving him fun facts like he wasn't qualified enough to work there.

Having to deal with- okay maybe he should get out of his head.

So, Jay stood up for a walk.

Jay carefully scanned over the store, feeling a sense of... intimidation.

It was a tattoo parlor. A very scary looking, stereotypically edgy tattoo parlor.

The LED open sign was illuminated- but he didn't see anybody inside. He pressed his face against the glass, smooshing his cheek on the window, really trying to get more a glimpse on what the shop looked like.

"Uh- what are you doing?"

"AH-"

Startled, he yelped and looked back at the person who questioned him, not really expecting anybody to notice him.

It was a women.. a really.. REALLY pretty women.

She continued staring at him with a perplexed look as Jay looked at her closely.. she had wavy dark hair, up in a high pony. Really thinking about it, this women was probably the owner- or at least working at the shop, considering how she was pratically covered in tattoos.

Jay looked down at the box she was holding which was full of decorations for the shop.

She had nice arms.

"Hello?"

"OH OH HI!"

He had to snap out of it!! What was with him???

Putting the box down next to the step of the door, she reached out a hand.

"I'm Nya! I'm uh- the new owner of this store I guess. What about you?"

He took her hand and shook it, letting go. God was he sweaty?? Could she tell???

"Oh I'm- I'm Jay!! Yeah hi I'm- my name- yeah it's Jay."

Fuck. Something kill him NOW.

"I'll see ya later, alright? Gotta get back or Skylor will be pissed. Bye!"

Picking up the box, she did a slight wave and dissapeared.

Holy shit.

synopsis . . .

jay has just graduated college, majoring in engineering - and is now being forced to work at his parents flower shop. he hates it more than anything. of course, the pretty tattoo artist across the street makes it a bit more worth it . .

vampire anatomy

so basically this post is a bit of an anatomy lesson and maybe a bit confusing if you don’t have an anatomical background or basic knowledge of anatomy systems so beware … comment / use my q/a for any explanation or anything tho

to think of vampires is to think of humans but. genetically advanced ??? think of it this way:

let’s say humans are … sustainers ! they need food , water , anything to keep their body running . they have a lot of body systems going on and a lot of maintaining to do for it so everything is very precise

now let’s say vampires are defenders. the only thing they really need is blood due to their deficiency of it , and only about 2 pints a week at that. their immune system is superior and they don’t ahve to worry about sustainability in the meantime

keep that in mind as u continue

for vampires , they have the same circulation system , though their hearts are smaller (there’s not as much red blood cells or anything to circulate) . their blood is like uber thin and really acidic , so one reason why they need to GET blood from humans is to balance it out (blood is a slightly basic substance!!)

fangs are a whole separate spongy bone called “dentes” (fangs in latin) that diffuse blood when a vampire bites a human . there’s a specific vein that transports the blood directly into the heart attached to the dentes (vein name still in workshop) . it’s also specifically attached to the left ventricles of the heart (those lead straight into the body) . normally , they bite the jugular vein (external , incoming blood) and suck through the small holes in the bone

(silly fact me n my best friend came up with: when a human has sickle cell disease (normally red blood cells r shaped like (0) but with sickle cell they’re shaped like (C like a sickle), the rbcs will clog and clot the spongy bone and give the receiving vampire a fang cavity)

each body system is slightly more advanced (etc the skeletal system being more strong to avoid acidic corrosion , or the muscular system being more flexible due to adaptation) .in this world , vampires turning into bats is just a myth (though they do have a special connection to bats, due to some part of their dna being intertwined with them) . digestive system is the same though they need blood for some key components (such as iron , or anything thag rbcs specically transfer through the body) the endocrine system develops slower (due to lifespan) but it works about the same

basically every single vampire is iron deficient 😭

nervous system . fun. okay. so. neurotransmitters work faster (action potential / nerve charges go really fast and they have faster reaction / reflex time) . no drugs that are used directly in the blood work (so no intravenous) though anything that is uo the nose or works with the cns specifically (etc benzodiazepines) work perfectly fine (yes vampires can do cocaine and xanny… but not heroin)

(another silly best friend and me thing ; vampires platelets work extremely well and fast so if any needle or iv is left in their skin for more than 10 minutes , the platelets will heal AROUND it. fun!)
