(sorry I just wanted to say that) anyway is there a specific example on your mind rn or so you just feel that strongly about grief in media in general, I'm curious
Oh hi! I do generally just feel like THAT about grief in general I think it's fair to say it's a defining point in most if not all people's lives any time they experience it
I've been recently thinking a lot about delayed grief especially in conjunction with my two main brain rots rn (yugioh and disco elysium) in both of them you have characters who have lost themselves in some way (yami and harry respectively) and there is both grief for the fact in some way who they used to be died but also they did hurt people and have forgotten and does that remove that culpability or not? There stories are both about them fighting to learn why they chose to end things for wildly different reasons but there story's are both about fighting to learn why you had to forget yourself and that's about how you needed to kill that old version of yourself but it is a form of death all ageing is even though for them it was obviously MORE than that
But can you mourn for a version of yourself that you killed but can't remember? Is that a murder you have hands in? Can you grieve alongside and for all the loved ones you took their friend from and are now a new ghost inhabiting an old shell?
Anyways change of the self as a kind of violence as a murder as putting an old lover in the ground
You can hate them and still linger by their grave in your bones still warm that headstone if only briefly with your hand in some kind of apology for cutting short a life that version of someone could have lead
