When will some people realize being introverted or shy ≠ anxiety/social anxiety? Obviously, I’m not saying that people who are prefer to live their lives in solitary tendencies or are on the shyer side cannot have anxiety but they shouldn’t be associated with one another. As well as the fact that it shouldn’t be romanticized or turned into an aesthetic. People who are more extroverted or aren’t as shy can very much have anxiety/ social anxiety,can even have medication for it, etc. They’re so different and mean two completely different things.

a lot of our perception of phineas comes from genes (flawed) perspective. phineas is not some perfect, fearless god above gene who so kindly and strangely pulled gene in. he's just some teenager. some guy who doesnt understand war and doesnt understand the world and who will never grow up because, well - he cant.

phineas was never fearless.

anf the one thing he feared most of all: losing gene.

he keeps pulling away from gene after half an attempt to come out to him (in the gay sense), because he knows gene wont accept it. he tried over and over to tell gene he is the most important thing. he uses the war he's sooo enamoured with as an excuse for blatantly "fairy"-like behaviour because gene points it out and is upset by it. he loves gene. he adores him. like gene thinks finny is some graceful god of athletics, finny thought gene simply was the smartest out there. he thinks gene is good at everything. it never occurs to him thay gene has to try.

because he's gene, why would he?

phineas doesnt think gene is perfect but he holds him up on such a high pedastol as (eventually) his only anchor, the only thing he trusts, the thing he absolutely cannot lose.
