Going Clean | the journey to a cleaner beauty routine
I've slowly started the journey towards incorporating cleaner beauty products into my routine--natural ingredients, less toxins, chemicals & fillers. Here is the clean routine so far, with products that I use & enjoy. (Makeup is the much harder conversion for me.) All of these products are 💯 clean--organic, no fillers, toxins or chemicals.
1) Honest Beauty Tampons   I ordered all natural tampons from Honest Beauty. I apologize for starting with something so gross & I am probably over sharing, but I'm putting those things up my hoo-ha, so the idea of chemicals absorbing into the bloodstream concerns me.  These are the perfect replacement for my OB tampons, and come in a much cuter--albeit more expensive--packaging.  https://www.honest.com/bath-and-body/cotton-tampons
2) Native Deodorant The next most important clean product for me was deodorant. Armpits are little sponges--again, gross I know--so putting metals & chemicals on them, to then be absorbed into your body, probably not great for you. I did a ton of research about natural deodorants, looking to find the ones that are best in preventing perspiration--I'm an excessive sweater & there were only a handful of recommended ones to help with this issue.   The first one I tried I had to throw away because it made me itchy & gave me a rash. Then I found Native--an SF startup company--and I absolutely love it, plus  great customer service!  https://www.honest.com/bath-and-body/cotton-tampons
3) Goop Beauty I'm a fan of Gwyneth's lifestyle brand, Goop. I like the curation, user experience, product recommendations & overall mission. Although I love the design of Goop label clothing line, I find it to be overpriced, however, for $100 you can get a piece of the Goop experience with their skincare discovery kit. I'm almost at the end of all my containers, and can say that I've enjoyed all the products--good packaging & they are all 100% clean & organic. I like the oil because it's light and quickly absorbed, but my hands-down favorite is the scrub. It tingles & makes my skin feel like a baby's bottom.  https://shop.goop.com/shop/products/discovery-set?taxon_id=546
4) Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Full Strength Juice beauty is the partner brand & manufacturer of Goop skincare line. My #1 skincare focus after 40 is texture, texture, texture, and because of that, I absolutely LOVE this product.  It is highly effective for resurfacing the skin without any scrubbing properties. It has a gel consistency, smells like apples, and it immediately tingles when you apply it. I leave it on for up to 10 min, but generally just 2-5. It's pretty strong & depending on the day, my skin varies in sensitivity. This product seriously retexturizes my skin and makes it feel like glass afterwards. I use this 2-3x p/week.    https://www.juicebeauty.com/skincare/collections/green-apple-age-defy/green-apple-peel-full-strength-1
5)  Cane & Austin Miracle Pad+ Once again, this product is about resurfacing & retexturizing without any scrubbing properties. I discovered this at Sephora & after sampling decided to give it a try. These are all natural exfoliating pads, using a glycolic acid derived from sugarcane. They come in 3 different strengths--of course I bought the strongest. I use 1 pad in the morning & 1 at night as a first step before the rest of my skincare. They tingle, but for me are not too strong & have effective results.  It's a nice change from my Peter Thomas Roth peel pads.  http://www.sephora.com/miracle-pad-P394351?skuId=1698554
6) Drunk Elephant Glycolic Night Serum Another Sephora find, and my 3rd & final resurfacing product! I use it every night after the peel pads, before serum & moisturizer. It has a super light gel consistency and absorbs quickly. I apply to face, neck & back of hands--same as my Miracle Pads--and it works overnight to retexturize. I doesn't irritate my skin & I love it.  http://www.sephora.com/t-l-c-framboos-tmglycolicnightserumP392246skuId=1679307&icid2=products%20grid:p392246
7) Vintner's Daughter Active Botanical Serum In the beauty world, this is currently one of the most blogged about product, so of course I had to try it! I've been using it morning & night for about 4 weeks & I absolutely LOVE  it.  It has the consistency of a really dry oil & absorbs quickly. I read about the woman who created it, and it's supposed to have 22 oils that work to firm, brighten, clear & calm the skin. Basically, it's all things magical.🤗 I'm sold for now--even though it is $$$--but I have a feeling this will become a staple in my beauty regimen!  https://shop.goop.com/shop/products/active-botanical-serum?taxon_id=41
8) Phlur Fragrance A new concept in fragrance--all natural, 6 scents & for $15 you can choose to sample 3 of the scents. If you then decide to buy a full size, you get $15 off your purchase.  This is another beauty startup, based in NYC & it reminds me of the Everlane/Warby Parker business model, starting online but maybe expanding to physical store assortment. I loved all 3 of my samples, and recently ordered a full size of the Hamani, which I am enjoying.  I also appreciate the personalized customer service & packaging.  https://phlur.com
